Villa v Everton

The lads has an excellent first half. We could have been 2 or 3 up by the break. This I give Moyesy credit for. After the break we were hit by a tidal wave. Once Gareth Barry came to the centre of midfield he controlled the game. Vaughn is a good lad but he was out of the game in the second half. Moyesy could have brought in Valente or Naysmith on the left and used Lescott in central midfield and as cover for Hibbert, as Villa ran circles around him. Alternatively a fresh pair of legs in the shape of Anichebe to keep the midfielder's and defence in their own half. Moyes definitely got this wrong.

I am a lifelong supporter of Everton. This was a 3 pointer and could have been sweet revenge for all the beatings we have taken from Villa in the past 18 years but to no avail as we as supporters could see this going wrong as early as 5 minutes into the second half, amazingly Moyesy and co could not, why? Regards, Streeni. A lifelong supporter of Everton. (04/04/07)

Missed Fernandes

I really enjoyed the Villa game. The support was excellent again an Villa is a great ground to visit. On the pitch I felt we were chugging at the back and we seemed to just sit back and let them come at at us instead of running an old fashioned flat back four pushing them out I think we caught them offside twice in the whole game. But the one biggest difference for me from the Arsenal game was the lack of creativity in the middle and we desperately missed Fernandez. What happened there then? In all a Fair result I think but lets hope that we mash Fulham on Friday as Bolton will be a very tough one. finishing top ten is all very good however we all know and expect more European status would be a great bonus to an average season. Sean Whelan. (04/04/07)

Villa Point

I felt disappointed at the final whistle last night at villa park, I thought we should have had the 3pts, we gave a very good first half display, and were again denied a penalty by a poor decision by referee Webb, what he saw, and gave beggars belief.
But the boys worked hard, and with a little luck could have had a couple more, after J L had scored his first goal for the club, I am very impressed with young Vaughan, he won every ball in the air, in trying to get Andy Johnson away, and with Arteta tormenting villa time and time again we were the better side.
We did not have the same effect on the game as the first half and villa came at us very strong, and good play by Stubbs, and the rest of the lads kept them at bay until the final 10 mins, as Villa pk is not one of our favourite haunts in league matches, we should be happy to have at least come away with something. Everton Kit At JJB

Please can we all agree to visit our local JJB shop and ask about the Everton range and its availability? After hearing what Big Keith had to say about his knowledge of the sale of Everton merchandise at each and every JJB outlet within the country I'm sure he'll be well aware of what I'm about to tell you. You, however, may not be so relaxed and laid back. I was certainly angered and frustrated.

I visited JJB, Carlisle, on Saturday 31st, March 2007. There was no evidence of any Everton range to be found within the shop. Eventually I asked a member of staff to show me their stock. The lady told me that they don't stock the Everton range at all. If I wanted anything concerning Everton then she could give me a catalogue to take home and I could pick from it and collect it at a later date. It gets worse; she told me that as numbers of Everton's shirts within the shop lowered they took the decision to not re-stock, as it isn't a top seller. There's more money to be made from the sale of Liverpool shirts. That's the reason they're at the entrance.

I ask therefore that all Evertonians who live outside of Merseyside visit their local JJB and find out the set up for purchasing or stocking the Everton range. Send the result from your JJB visit to Bluekipper and next year when MBE has an audience with KW we'll find out if this is knowledge to Everton or not. If it is then why was it disguised with spin to us the fans when enquiries were made? If it isn't knowledge to Everton are we happy about this and what, if anything, is to be done? How can we compete with the income generated by the sale of goods? Income that apparently goes to strengthen our team, when the company with sole responsibility for Everton merchandise decides to promote our rivals first and foremost, as this is beneficial to themselves? Gwladys. (04/04/07)

David Moyes

With regards to the criticism of Moyes from Chris Simpson, it would be useful if he could support his opinion with facts. Moyes has not spent much money when you compare his expenditure to his income from sales, in other words net expenditure. Depending on the accuracy of some transfer fees, the net figure is in the region of £15 million during the last 5 years. This is a small amount in today's market and to be competing for 5th place on that budget is some achievement.

Maybe, he should make some constructive suggestions as to who he wants to realistically replace Moyes and what he considers a successful season. Keep up the good work Moyesy - we are a long way away from the dark and grim days of relegation battles during Walter's reign.

Blue Band

Me boy, Fitz, a 4th generation blue, and his band need your votes [ratings] to get to V Festival, which will be on TV thru the summer, with one of the semi finals in Liverpool. You can vote at http://www.roadtov.com/content/bands/band-profile.php?profileId=10949 If you like them 5 star ratings would be good. [Not for small ears though] Thanks Kegs. (30/03/07)

Get Manny now

I have been impressed with Manny Fernandes skills and hope we can find a way to improve his stamina so he can contribute for longer periods throughout games, he would be a valuable addition to the squad so lets hope we can quickly close a deal on him and not fuck about. To John Lea please put the teeth back in your arse, Moyes gets a lot of money from Everton as did his predecessor Walter Smith, more than a few lottery wins if the truth be known, and we still haven't had a pot to piss in. How many will it knock off the crowd next season knowing we have to suffer another 5 yrs of Moyes. What stands out in the last 5yrs, Shrewsbury in cup, Arsenal away 7-0, European games treated like pre-season friendlies, Kroldrup, Davies or shandy are but just a few of the catalogue of shit provided by Moyes. We need to win something, I hope you can remember what that feels like. We need someone shrewd who doesn't advertise his dealings and take this club to the next level. Everton Forever. Chris Simpson. face on £20 note

Regarding the fact that Adam Smith (who?), has his face on the £ note, what do bluekipper think would be appropriate? Perhaps Bluekipper should run a survey of who would Evertonians like to see on the british £ note, then design a £ note with the famous names image on it that wins the vote? David Lydiate. Everton Champions of Europe

I thought I'd apply some redshite logic to our game against Barca last night - you know, the kind of logic they apply to force the FA or UEFA to change any fucking rule that doesn't suit them. So here it is.

We beat Barca 2-1 in the Barcelona Cup of 1924 and they beat us 5-3 in the return leg last night. So 6-5 on aggregate, but we used more subs than they did and they wore their own strip so that must count for at least 2 more goals. Therefore, we turned them over. Now, since Barca are currently European Champions and we've beaten them, plus the fact that the shite turned them over and we walloped the shite as well......we must be Champions of Europe! Come on you Blues! Campeone! Campeone! Kevin Latham. (30/03/07)

Credit To Moyes

We have to give credit to Davey Moyes for the substitution that brought about the winning goal against Arsenal, especially after the stick he got after the Spurs game! blog707. (27/03/07)

Lescott For England

Is it just me or is everyone all hyped up about AJ starting for England that we are forgetting about Joleon Lescott? The lads had a brilliant season with one of the best statistics (according to premierleague.com) for an englishman! and yet the likes of Woodgate is getting a call up ( not a bad player like), but is it more coz he is on the books of real madrid and reputation that he is getting a call up. I wonder if he was on Everton's books would he gettin a call up. We need more "Lescott for England" chants going because that's one lad who deserves at least a sniff. Great site... PS Sign Manny quick!! (Massie). Benn "sparky" Hughes (27/03/07)

Yer ‘istory Needs You!

As a change from the stadium debate, can I make an appeal on behalf of the Everton Collection Charitable Trust? For those unable to attend the exhibition on Sunday at GP I would like to say that, even with only a small selection of items on display, what a fantastic collection and what a great opportunity we have to secure a major part of our history for future generations. I know there have been many fans, myself included, asking why the club doesn’t just stump up the ackers for the collection themselves and are perhaps they reluctant to dip into their own pockets because they believe the club is taking the piss.

However, perhaps if, as I found out yesterday, the reason why the club isn’t buying it was publicised better then opinions may change and we can all help to secure the history we are rightly so proud of. David France doesn’t want the club to own this collection, he wants US, Evertonians, and the people of the city to own it which is why the charity has been set up. I can only speculate as to why DF doesn’t want the club to own this outright but a quote from his article in the programme for the forthcoming match may give an indication, ‘We’ve lost it before, we don’t want to lose it again’. This obviously refers to the clubs ledgers, or the Everton Scriptures as DF calls them, without doubt the most important part of the collection as they portray a fantastic picture of the development of the club up until 1964, which were ‘dumped’ at some time by the club.

For Everton’s part, besides a contribution of £250k, on completion of the purchase, they will ‘donate’ all their archives etc. to the Trust to create the most complete, unique portrayal of this fascinating club which is not just our history but a social history. The memorabilia will be displayed, not only at the Liverpool Records Office, but on an ever changing basis at the proposed new museum on the waterfront and at any future stadium development. There was a decent turnout on Sunday but in the Q&A, Tony Tighe, one of the trustees, explained how they were concerned about the response so far to the game on Wednesday. Initially they had planned for the game to be all ticket, however, due to poor ticket pre-sales, they have agreed a pay on the night turnstile for Upper Bullens.

Whether this low ticket take up is due to poor advertising and the assumption that, as with most friendlies, you could just turn up on the night I don’t know but either way I would urge all Blues, who can, to get down to GP on Wednesday, preferably buying advance tickets for reserved seating. Let’s show everybody, especially the Barca contingent who have agreed their support for no gain, how much this means to us all. If you can’t get to the game, make a donation, buy some merchandise, anything you can to fill the coffers. I can tell you now that when the target is reached and you and the next generations see what we have achieved you will feel immensely proud to have played your part, however small, in securing our past for our future.

So please do what you can and don’t use resentment against the current board to cloud your support. Yer ‘istory Needs You!! Steve. Walton. (27/03/07)

Believe Moyes

The moment Moyes arrived at Everton we could see he knew what the team needed. Slowly but surely he as proved diddering is the only way to go. If you do not have the bottomless pit to throw around. I really believe Moyes has made Everton a team to be proud of. COYB. John Lea. (27/03/07)

Emre - 'not proven'

Found "not proven" - that is neither guilty or not guilty. The FA should hang their heads in shame, this sort of behaviour should be eradicated from the pitches and terraces of this country, and the FA have a big drive about booting out racism and we get that weak, tepid (as usual) response from the so called guardians of football. Boot racism out, it has no place at any ground, let alone Goodison. Rich Welsh Blues. (27/03/07)
