Stop The Whinging - Let Moyes Get On With It

What absolute rubbish people spout. The 'Ginger one' is the best thing to happen to this club in a long, long time. We will not acquire a manager as good if anyone is looking for the "next level" (knobs). Humiliated over Nugent and Koumas? big arf. They would not improve on what we have got. Moyes was not interested in blowing good money (our money) on squad players who probably would not have been good enough to make the first team. The 'blue whingers do make me despair I honestly thought stupidity was for kopites. Terry Cooper. (24/07/07)

Where are these new players?

Waiting like everyone else to hear about a great signing for the blues but nothing has happened. We have a decent squad but still needs tweaking, Beattie's gotta go, also Shandy van has either gotta go or let him get some consistent game time and judge from there he seems to have a fair bit to offer. Its obvious we need an attacking left sided player desperately and is the biggest piece missing in the squad I believe. We could do with one more defender and a goal scoring partner for A J. The talk of Alan Smith coming on board is not that exciting, although he is an everton type player with determination and physical presence I still think there must be someone more suited. That's were Nugent would have come in but the board fucked up there and may regret it! Our strike force is quite young and still to really show what they can do....they are good but will they be great (Mcfadden, Anichebe, Vaughan). Vaughany seems the goods but playing in Europe I believe we need another experienced striker......we can't rely on the midfield to score goals all the time. Go on Moyesy do some last minute magic deals and lets kick ass this season. Kieran O'Sullivan. (24/07/07)

Hold on to Biffa

At a time when the majority of us have gone blue holding our breath waiting for new blood, the possibility of creating funds may seem like a godsend but even as a strong critic of blue bill on this very website, I cannot see flogging Biffa on the cheap as good business. As much as poor Nugent give us the come on and Smudger at 8 million from manure looks 6 million overvalued, biffa represents a more solid bet than those two or any other maybe, wannabe or has been that has been linked with the club. Call me an optimist but Biffa can come good, I like the guy he is the devil we know. A.J, Biffa, Vaughan, Anichebe, Faddy for me we've got a half decent group there. We need width. I say grab S.W.P from Chelski, for sale at half the purchase price the type of signing to boost everyone. With service from him Biffa might just get the monkey of his back. Come on gollum blow the budget in one hit we can put the final pieces of the jigsaw together in the january window. Raymond Liderth. (24/07/07)

DMs stupid comments

Why oh why does David Moyes use the stupid lame excuse about other teams paying more than we will for players. We wasted money on Beattie so how can we possibly be so hypocritical at this stage ? Nugent is worth £6 mill at today's prices...he is young, quick, skillful and does know where the goal is. He WANTED to play for us....all these things are plusses....give me one plus where Beattie is concerned !!!!! Richardson again is a tried and tested player at the top level, so how on earth did DM expect to get him for less than we paid for Jagielka ???? I honestly believe that EFC are taking the p..s out of our supporters by pretending to buy with no real intention. We offered a supposed £10 mill for Owen....where is that money ?? We let Jags go for nothing when we had him and now we buy him back...is that good business ???? Our wage bill is considerably reduced by the letting go of players plus the sale of Naysmith...we very possibly have signed Jags on the strength of that.

I for one am rapidly losing patience with the lies and evasion of the Everton board season after season. The continued activity in the transfer market of every team in the premier except ours is sticking in my craw. We have absolutely no ambition otherwise we would invest...I really hope and pray that we are not dragged down again by the ineptitude of our board because the supporters deserve so much more. If we drop back to mid table at the end of the coming season we will have lost the money that would have bought Nugent or some other decent 'name' player. I really hope I am wrong, Frustrated blue. (24/07/07)

Vote For Everton

Found this site, football.thevotefor.com/ , and was dismayed to say the least that Everton are at present 90th in this table. So calling all Blue Kipper readers to submit their vote and move up the table and see how long it takes to be top where we belong. We are the Peoples Club after all. Leeds are presently heading this table but I bet their supporters would sooner their club be in our position. Spending money on the wrong type players does not always bring success. Leave David Moyes to do the worrying about who we sign and let's just give him and the team our support. John. (24/07/07)

Where Is The Money Gone?

Is it just me or is anyone else wondering where Everton's money is? It's an absolute joke how we are standing still while every other team aren't moaning about players being over priced, if that's how much a player is then that's what you gotta pay if you wanna strengthen your team FFS!
I expected we'd sign half a dozen players with being in europe again and try to aim for top four as spurs seem to be doing, is the uefa cup the height of our clubs ambition? I mean come on we've signed another ordinary defender/midfielder (Jagielka), whilst we've released 3 players sold Naysmith and can't afford to keep manny Fernandes who was arguably our best player last season and potentially in my humble opinion worth double the 8-10 million in a couple of years. Don't we get 8million for finishing 6th and 50 million or whatever in tv money??????????? To me Kenwright is fleecing the club, how come we haven't had any billionaires interested in us? OR HAVE WE? He won't sell because he's making a fortune on the back of this 'I'm an Evertonian bullshit.' It seems he's got everyone fooled. Get him out and get a manager who isn't a dithering fuckwitt ! Can somebody please tell me how every club has more cash and ambition than everton, including Wigan and Sunderland! Players do want to come here but we are too tight it's sad. stujonno9
. (24/07/07)

Dither......whinge

I, like most other fans, am now particularly concerned about the complete lack of transfer activity. There is not a hope in hell that we will get by with the squad we have at present. I was under the impression that we were getting even more TV money this year, £30m ?, so we cannot possibly be skint. Or can we ? It was massively disappointing to hear David Moyes whingeing about the "Irresponsible spending" of some clubs. What does he expect ? They, and we, have an extra £30m quid to spend and most are spending it. Unfortunately we are not. At the end of last season we had players targeted. We then went and bought them. This summer I don`t think anybody knows, possibly including the Manager, who we should buy. We desperately need a central midfielder who can look after himself and possibly the others should it come to it. We missed out on Barton although I suspect he would have come to Goodison. There was talk of Diop but this seems to have gone quiet now. My only hope now is that we can prise Kevin Nolan away from Bolton. We are desperately lightweight in midfield and even more so since Fernandes left. We need somebody and we need them NOW !! Just to add that I am also not very happy about being outbid by the likes of Wigan, Portsmouth and now Sunderland! A not very happy, almost pessimistic, Blue. John. (24/07/07)

You stingy sods...

Me again, yet more disappointment eh? Richardson going to Sunderland!!...ha ha! Now the latest news, we sell Biffa to Middlesborough in order to get Smith!? What else....oh yes..what does "I've got enough to bring in one good player and a plan in place for a couple of loans" mean exactly...? I mean is that the basis for planning for the future? I don't want one for one swaps which is basically what the Smith saga is if Beattie goes, I want the squad to increase not decrease or stay the same size....for Gods sake what the bloody hell is going on at that club? We're in Europe...but Richardson goes to Sunderland?..work that one out...How is it the Swede at City can only be in the job just over a week and bring in two players while this tight arse board and chairman cling ever tighter to the purse strings and, from what it appears, not give more than enough financial support to Moyes to buy players?

Prentice in the Echo calls me and others like me 'Doom Merchants', I call myself a realist. I've seen this club reach the dizzy heights of Champions league football and then pulled my hair out as the club failed to build a squad to cope with it. The same thing is happening again, the squad is too bloody small, there is not enough quality in crucial positions and with what money he does have Moyes just seems shit scared to buy anyone. He's been here long enough now to stop bull shitting us and coming out with bloody sob story after sob story about how hard done to we are, that other clubs pay silly prices for players, that hes' a fan too blah blah, that he knows how the fans feel blah, blah, that we tried right up till the last minute etc..etc..change the sodding record. If we finish anywhere within the top six this season I'll show my arse in Lewis's window!!
Does anyone within the lofty portals of Blue Kipper have any insight into what exactly is going on, has anyone spoken vigorously with Kenwright about this shambolic state of affairs? It would be nice if someone could be open and honest about things The optimism I felt at the end of last season has vanished, its the same story folks, no ambition..clueless in the player market and taking us for mugs. Everton fans deserve much better than this...god it makes me angry writing this, the frustration I feel is immense. I just cannot believe that a club that once sported the likes of Ball, Kendall, Harvey, Labone, Ratcliffe, Southall, Lineker...the list goes on..has turned into this thing that thinks that finishing sixth is a victory!! I tell you what Dave, here's a way to progress things....sell Biffa but not replace him!!!...he he perfect says Dave I'll do it tomorrow!!
Bugs. (24/07/07)

Shandy Van Der My Round

This email is being written in response to the Dutchman's claims that he is yet again going to relaunch his Toffees career, anyone else thinking that this has happen before??? every time our dutch wonder seems to be interviewed he's talking about knuckling down from now on, changing his attitude etc etc. i think someone needs to show him a little story called the boy who cried wolf. Don't get me wrong, nothing would give me greater pleasure then to see andy have an absolute stormer of a season and cement himself in the left mid role, but for f*ck sake stop talking about it, get out on the pitch and prove to the everton faithful that your not full of sh*te!! Ben Mc. (24/07/07)

Irresponsible Buying

David Moyes says that clubs are guilty of irresponsible buying and selling, what a load of crap !!. Everton are the irresponsible ones in once again conning us fans with the promises of more players, we qualified for europe knowing that we would need at least 6 new players in the squad to compete on all fronts, what have we got -2 .Great business blues. On the subject of overpriced players Andy Johnson who last season on a game for goals ratio not including penalties was virtually the same as EMILE HESKEY. David/Bill work this one out, if players are overpriced as you say, if a club sells a 5 million pound player for 6 million and buys a 5 million pound player for 6 million they break even, so whats the problem. Who are the players he's talking about? Torres? yes overpriced but would we have been in the chase if he was half that price, I don't think so.

I hope that we are waiting for the market to quieten down before we pounce so we are not bidding against other clubs for players otherwise we can kiss goodbye to a good season and personally apart from our jolly boy outings to Europe tell UEFA that thanks for the invite but no thanks we would like to concentrate on the more important issue of avoiding relegation. No way you might think, me 2 but only because of Derby, Birmingham and Sunderland. We need major investment NOW has anyone been in and made an offer who knows, has blue Bill told them to do one its my toy. Non season tickets moaning about the fact that won't get a vote on the stadium issue, why, there will be approx the same amount of fans voting for both sides whether they have them or not or do they think that us season ticket holders will sell them out, get real its about percentages if the vote is 50/50 with season ticket holders then it will be 50/50 with none holders. Si. Wigan. (24/07/07)

Same Old Same Old

Also just read the Prentice article, reads awfully similar to a piece he wrote on the eve of the 2005 06 season when worried blues were also voicing there concern with the lack of activity coming from Goodison with securing the services of top quality players. Moyes response also seems to echo everything he said two years ago. Not trying to be pessimistic but we all know the season we had then! If we have no money then the board should come out and tell the fans. After all when Kenwright took over from Johnson he made a point of telling the fans it was the dawn of a new era regarding the end of secrecy between the club and the many thousands of loyal supporters.

I also cannot understand Moyes' logic regarding transfer fee's. The going rate is the going rate! It is no point in blaming other clubs for the fees they are prepared to pay out for players, when it seems more likely that Moyes is more annoyed with himself for not buying the very players he has now missed out on, for fees at a fraction of the cost only a season or two back! I honestly hope Moyes and the board have something planned, otherwise it will be a step back again. Finally can someone tell me what Prentice has against Cahill? Disgruntled blue
. (24/07/07)

David Nugent

If Nugent really wanted to go to Everton then he could have sat it out. Moyesy offered £4m knowing that he had a year left on his contract. You can guarantee it, if it would have been in the last week of the transfer window Preston would have sold for £4m. They simply wouldn't risk him going for nothing next year. Moyesy is right again. If we want a reality check just look at Leeds!!! Well done Davey I have got faith in you, you have proved the moaners wrong too many times. Dad & Lad. (24/07/07)

Disgusted At The Board

I am writing to you to display my absolute disgust at current events at Everton Football Club. I'm a 16 year old supporter, who has had a season ticket for the past seven seasons. I have consistently supported the board and manager alike and boosted the club's revenue with regards to purchasing merchandise such as replica kits, food and refreshments on Matchday and I'm a subscriber to the Evertonian magazine. I follow the team away around six or seven times a season on average. I feel now is the time to question the board and its antics, for my generation and for future generations.

The lack of transfer activity this summer is not just a mere concern, it is a crisis situation. Following a promising sixth place finish in the Premier League, I expected signings to be made to add to the threadbare squad. Excluding the recent capture of Phil Jagielka, David Moyes has been completely hamstrung this summer by the absolutely inexcusable ineptitude and lack of support from Bill Kenwright and his board. With the sales of Kilbane and Davies and a sixth place finish in the Premier League where is the transfer funds? It is quite simply disgraceful, embarrassing and totally unacceptable for a club of Everton's stature. Nobody could blame David Moyes if he walked away, he would be well within his rights.

I feel enough is enough. It is time to demand answers from the inept board. We want the truth, not mere excuses. In my view, sheer common sense defies anyone who suggests that there has been no serious investment interest in Everton in the past 18 months. Considering the wide climate of investment into the English Premier League, do you genuinely believe that the fans will accept that no serious investment interest has occurred? Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Portsmouth, Newcastle, Birmingham have all had investment or investment interest. Surely a club the size of Everton who has attendances averaging around 35 thousand every home game would have some sort of investment interest. To be honest, the 24/7 search for investment line is wearing thin, I no longer believe in such twaddle. It is vital for the future of the club for the current major shareholders to step aside or find a way to compete with the huge sums of money being pumped into the Premiership.

Finally I would like to express that I will simply not accept the current events occurring at Everton Football Club and I will use my power as a fan to ensure such displeasure will not continue. Examples such as boycotting club merchandise, matchday food outlets have been muted to hit the club where it really hurts. I no longer trust the people in charge of the club. I refuse to believe they have the club's best interests at heart. It has become evident that all Bill Kenwright is interested in doing is managing to retain control, regardless of whether feasible investment options are available. Is that really what is the best for Everton? Our current transfer budget would suggest otherwise.

I feel you owe me, and the fans of our glorious football club answers. I hope you have taken on board the comments and issues I have raised and I would appreciate a reasoned response. It would certainly suppress the frustration that the club I love is causing me. Whether you feel my points are valid or not, I genuinely believe as a season ticket holder who contributes to the club beyond belief, you owe me a response. I am an Evertonian who is passionate about my club, as are many thousands of others, we deserve respect. Regards, Joe Jennings. (24/07/07)

Go Get The Money

Why isn't nobody standing up against Bill Kenwright? He promised there would be cash his and fast ass Keith Wyness said there will be cash to back Everton what have Tottenham done different to Everton in three years NOTHING, Yet Tottenham seem to be able to spend 30+ million pounds it's laughable all you ever get from Everton is we have no money isn't it time we bloody get money instead of saying we don't have it all the time I have something to say to Bill Kenwright: If you're such a great Evertonian then fucking sell us instead of keeping us behind from Tottenham and Newcastle who are on our level. heck even City looks like the have money this is no longer acceptable a club of Everton's size not having money and what David Moyes said that made me feel like Everton we're no better than Wigan or Reading. "We don't have the fund's". WELL GET THEM. Thomas And Phil. (24/07/07)

Move Forward

We need to move forward as a club and if that means to Kirby then so be it. It looks a promising site. It has easy access off the motorway and will bring in more money to improve the squad. Unfortunately the main heart beat in today’s football is money. If we don’t have that then we can’t compete with them bastards over the park that are spending like no tomorrow. I know it will be hard to take but we need to all let go off our hearts and emotions and move together as one in the Everton way!!!!!! COME ON THE BLUES!!!!! Tony Redfern (JNR) (20/07/07)

The Big Picture

Just read Prenno at the Echo, his column Friday 13th. Exactly what a few knowledgeable and patient fans, including myself of course, are thinking. I did start thinking before the Jagielka deal was eventually completed - which dragged on through no fault of the club, when we ever add to last season's squad. There are still some faces I would like to see at the club, especially a left sided winger, for attacking balance - which I will explain in a second; the balance not the player. I think Tim Howard needs a little competition, though I think Iain Turner has been unfairly criticised and along with the almost forgotten John Ruddy, he may have more to offer than many people think.

I really think there must be some confidence in the current squad or someone on David Moyes' radar, for us to let a left-back go, without being replaced. Although I am almost certain that, enforced absences permitting, Moyes will start the season with the same back four which played most of last season - Lescott continuing in the left-back berth, with Stubbs and Yobo and Hibbert/Neville completing the defence.

Getting back to the troublesome wide left position, many people were tried there last term, with not great effect. Although I would like Manuel Fernandes to join again on loan, I don't think he is the answer out there. There is no doubting the fact he is blessed with some tremendous passing and ball control, his positional sense leaves him with a little to work on. Obviously, he isn't the finished article and he is one of the most promising players in Europe, but will he gain that 'world-beater' tag playing at Everton? Which is why, I would think again before signing him permanently - especially at the price being quoted. Benfica have every right to command any fee they like, as they own his current contract, and they only want to ward off any interest. But as we are seeing this closed season, most of the Premiership are desperate to add to their squads - no matter what the cost.

Strange to think that last season, some fans - myself included, were fearing the worst when we were initially outbid for Andrew Johnson, only for Kenwright and co. to stump up the cash to bring the forward to Goodison. Lescott is a player I have always admired, and was chuffed to bits when we acquired his signature. Their combined fees cost in excess of £13million, which was a surprise to most that we actually spent that much, added to the further outlay of £3million for Tim Howard earlier this year.

We have a lot of fringe players, i.e. Beattie, Osman, Anichebe, McFadden, Turner, Carsley and I think we need more competition in key positions for us to have any chance of qualifying for a European place next season. That is the main concern, not getting far in the UEFA Cup this season, but consistently playing the competition, and progressing as a club. The next five years are a make-or-break for us, what with the squad becoming better with each season and a ground move on the horizon. It will really prove whether we have what it takes to stay on the coat-tails of the more successful clubs in the country. I only hope Moyes is the man to lead us into the new era.......an era of challenging seriously. Regards. Paul Dargan. (14/07/07)

Everton Transfer "Non-News"

I am fed up with every bar room manager saying we should buy him, we should buy him. Will people get a grip. Mr Moyes knows what he is doing, he has rightly said he refuses to pay silly money for players he does not think our worth it, even if they do profess to being a life long blue. "amazing how that adage goes out of the window when someone offers more money". We want players that want to play for the club, that has been the back bone of our climb back to were we belong forget how long it will take. "you can't put time on a class job". Do we want a mercenary shower of money grabbing showboaters like the shite who as soon as someone comes along and offers them a bit more cash piss off. Or do we want a team of players who could have gone and chased the money but chose to stay put because they know the score. So all you people who seem to think football management is a computer game, Let the manager manage. Keith....Cheshire a blue for 51yrs. (14/07/07)

So that's why we can't get any one! Thanks Dave

Well bugger me!!..when I read what ginger boy had to say about the transfer market it was like..like...a revelation sent in a bolt of lightening from the heavens!! So that's the reason we but 'f' all in transfers is it.....because other clubs spend more on players! Well that's a bit off isn't it Davey boy? Fancy upping the price of player and selling to the highest bidder...who would have thought it... So what you're actually saying is that its not fair and that all clubs should drop their prices for players because it's Everton who want them..mind boggling.. In that respect then if an enquiry came in for Johnson or Arteta or Cahill you'd drop their price just to be fair?....I don't think so you complete tit!!! Welcome to the real world of the Premier league....hello Bill are you there?..penny dropped yet?....money!! that's the thing....give more out, otherwise bugger off you delusional arse!! Well that rants out the way until the next startling revelation... Bugs. (14/07/07)

Back Moyesy, Bill

I know David Moyes is right but I feel very depressed about the little activity regarding signings. David Moyes, great manager, the best, but how can we expect to keep up with the top 6 never mind the top 4 when we can't afford to compete. I cannot believe that David Moyes will perform the miracles he has year after year and not get pissed off with no money. I just cannot remember such a low pre-season we need utility players and we need them now not in 4 weeks because we will have to bed them in . Come on Bill get some money into the club we need it badly. Sean Whelan. (14/07/07)

Money Talks

We live in dangerous times. We have seen the likes of Leeds destroyed by stupid signings. Who will be next? The world of footie has to take a long look at itself. How many multimillionaires are left to throw money at the search for success? It will change but will it be to late to save the long tradition of great managers of the past. COYB. John Lea. (14/07/07)

Everton outbid by Wigan Athletic!

Losing out on Koumas is a humiliation too far; it's time Kenwright put his stake in the club up for sale. The lies over the Fortress Investment;
coupled with the deceit over the Kings Dock Stadium and now 4 months after declaring funds for Moyesy the barrel is clean. It would appear Everton didn’t collect their share of the new TV money.
Even the most patient of supporters’ must realise his time is long up! Yeh he steadied the boat - but he's not capable of putting money were his dishonest mouth is - he reminds me of our local MPs - all talk and very, very little action; I’m sick of this swindler. Mikel. (14/07/07)

Moyes Moan

I have not emailed for a while, but felt compelled to with gingers latest moan that other premiership managers splashing out on players is ruining
it for minge bags like us!! What the fuck next? The whole pont is to improve our squad! once again we are going to rush into a last minute frenzy! The man is a shit house! Go to bill for money if he says no, go to the papers and publicly humiliate blue bill and hand your notice in! Then
you'll get my respect. But to sit on your hands and moan about other teams wiling to pay the going rate is further making us a laughing stock. He
paid 4 million for jag, who's only worth 2 if you ask me. So why not push the boat out for more? Asking Nugent to wait till january to get him on the cheap was laughable!! Everyone knows about all the new money in football now so the board get bulging pockets and we get fucked over by Pompey and Wigan!! "NIL SATIS NISI OPTIMUM" my arse!! Matt (lower gwladys season ticket!) (14/07/07)

Everton Toffees

I'm a member of the 'Alex Young Lounge' and when you have a coffee they always have chocolates with an Everton wrapper on, Just contact them and they might be able to help. Kind regards. Stuart. (14/07/07)

Blues Everywhere

I was watching a programme on Irish TV last night showing all these teenagers in a small island off the west coast of Ireland spending six weeks away from home trying to become fluent in the Irish language. As well as the usual GAA shirts i noticed this proud lad wearing the royal blue of Everton. Just shows you were are everywhere even in the most remote parts of Ireland. Eamonn Hughes. EFC Belfast. (14/07/07)

Blue Kipper FC

Just looked at the Bluekipper football team photos next to Dixie's statue. If the lads are enjoying themselves, tell them to let their faces know. Eddieparkend. COYB. (14/07/07)

What's Going On?

No, not the wonderful Marvin Gaye song but a question aimed at EFC and its inactive and penniless board. Its embarrassing enough to watch us being outbid by Premier clubs like Portsmouth but to then be beaten to transfers by the likes of Wigan and now apparently Sunderland (Richardson) is criminal. As much as it was annoying at the time, maybe the fat Spanish waiter with the silly beard was spot on – we are a small club with small club finances and a small club mentality. I like BK and think his heart and soul are dyed blue and in the right place BUT if he can’t realistically take us forward when bidding against the lower teams of the Premier League then maybe he should get out and sell to someone who can take us forward. We are facing an extra competition this year with less players than last season (1 in, 3 out = -2 deficit). It’s no good hanging around hoping ‘being an Evertonian’ will be enough to sign a player. It’s their job and if they are offered better elsewhere then blue or not most will go.

I know the transfer window is still open but be honest – do any of you see Everton signing any one who is going to take them to the next step beyond last seasons 6th place finish? It’s always one step forward and two back with EFC and it has to stop before we fall back into the clutches of Villa, City and the other mid-table mediocre sides again. Newcastle, Portsmouth, Spurs (our main rival last season) have all spent on re-enforcing their squads whilst we have sat by and watched.

Its f*cking depressing. Just for once, can someone at EFC come out and tell us the truth about the money we do/don’t have and go and tap Mr Stallone for a few million. Bill Davies. (14/07/07)

Laughing Stock

I never thought I would see the day Pompey would outbid Everton for a player. The shite have spent nearly 50 mill already while we have spent the princely sum of 4 mill. Bugling Bill needs to shit or get off the pot and stop treating the club as his personal toy. As for investment no one will convince me Blackburn and Southampton are better placed for takeovers than the blues. We are becoming a laughing stock. John Codling. (14/07/07)

Big Club

David Nugent has signed for Portsmouth. Fair enough, David Moyes might not want another striker - we already have a few. It would be nice, however, to be linked to one or two high profile players who are so desperately needed. By my reckoning, from an already thin and meager squad, we have added one - and lost Wright, Pistone, Naysmith and Fernandes ! Let's face it, Phil Jagielka isn't a name to excite our long-suffering fans.

Apart from last season, it is usual for Everton to be linked to every man and his dog during the transfer window, only to be disappointed as the
window closes. This season we're not even being linked with anyone ! The likes of Wigan and Portsmouth have put us to shame in the transfer market, and it is clear that we just can't compete because of a cash shortage. How many Premier League clubs have spent less ?

Meanwhile, we hear the news that Liverpool intend to extend the size of their new ground to accommodate 80,000 fans. All this after spending £20 million plus on Fernando Torres. Jealous ? You bet ! I'm sick of Everton fans boasting how we're a massive club. Yes I know we're
back in Europe (in a competition the bigger clubs have absolutely no interest in), and yes it is better than the all-too-frequent relegation battles we have endured - and yes we certainly have the fan base. However, in terms of club profile, ambition, future prospects, and most important of
all - money, we are distinctly second-rate. Let's get used to it shall we? Regards, Steve Smith. Culcheth. (14/07/07)

Nugent Worth The £6m

Firstly I would like to say what a fan I am of Moyes as he’s took us from the cauldrons of the bottom half of the premiership into regular top 6 hopefuls. However I feel dithering Dave has struck again, surely we should of bought Nugent. If AJ gets injured we are, to pardon my, French fucked!!! So why not buy a young evertonian who would run through a brick wall for everton an would surely, in the current market, represent value for money, marlon harewood is being touted as 5.5 mil so that makes nugent worth double the 6.5 mill pompey reportedly paid for him. Moyes must come out an explain fully why he didn’t buy Nugent, I am afraid that the excuse of he did not represent value for money will be a short lived one if he bangs 15 plus goals next season. People will say it’s a risk, but you have to take risks and in theory every signing is a risk, especially at this level!! Beggers belief as far as I’m concerned. Garry. (14/07/07)

Nugent Was The Perfect Evertonian

I try to distance myself from football during the close season as I normally have other stuff to do like enjoy the summer with my family, play a bit of Golf and Cricket. Though this 'summer' one football issue has annoyed the life out of me, why haven’t we signed Nugent? In this day and age of spoilt millionaire footballers here is a local lad who has bags of potential, is the right age and he has that vital ingredients, he wants to play for Everton! That is motivation enough I know people will point to the likes of Jeffers and Rooney as comparisons of so called Evertonians who say one thing but then once they 'make it' want to leave for a bigger club. I feel that this lad is different he was rejected by the shite, played for a couple of lower league clubs, this has given him a different perspective than the aforementioned gobshoites.

People will say that he is unproven at this level, well people need to wake up to the fact that is the market that we are in, any higher or proven quality players are out of our reach!. Over the last couple of weeks premiership clubs have shelled out ridiculous amounts of money on average players, Bellamy, Camara, Koumas, Baird to name just a few. Why can’t we find the cash for a player who just about fits every criteria that Moyes looks for? Does he think that we have enough talented forwards already? Johnson and Vaughan are my 1st choice strikers below that we have the raw impact style of Anichebe then below Victor we have 2 players who have been given more chances than any other strikers that I can remember at Goodison. One of which cost us 6 million, the same sum that Nugent would cost! Hopefully we will be as competitive as last year and that would mean that we will be competing with Spurs who scored bags of goals last year and felt the need to spend 16m on another striker!

Let’s face it if we did spend the cash and he did flop, it wouldn’t be the first time, remember Bilic, Nyarko, Williamson, Kroldrup, Beattie, Wright and dare I say it Duncan the 2nd. Maybe he wants to strengthen in other areas? There will be a big void now that Fernandes has gone. To me it feels like a wasted opportunity of buying a player who would genuinely feel proud to pull on the jersey, not one of these badge kissing mercenaries. He has signed for Portsmouth. I for one will be hoping that he gets bags full of goals and plays alongside AJ for England for years to come. Parkender. (14/07/07)

Targets Gone

I take it Moyes is going to pull some gems of players out of his hat considering two potential Everton targets are now gone. I always thought he was going for a youthful team added with the experienced players, but I can see he's getting like Walter Smith and bringing in dead wood to patch things up. If you bring in players who want to play for a team then that is half the battle, not players who just want to join to get a game every week as they were either benched or not picked for most of the season. It's time this club got real and sorted itself out instead of frustrating the thousands of fans from one season to the next! Mike Hayes. (14/07/07)

Eye on the Ball

My point is this! The squad is now training and bonding in Italy ahead of the new season. Does it show the Boards and Moyes intention, that they think they have enough squad members to get through next season? We may get away with it upfront, with 4/5 strikers.......but we are relying upon some kids. The worry is the midfield and back four! This idea of signing people who can play in several positions is a dangerous one, and it could backfire, with regard to the balance of the team, and confusion amongst the players.

The lack of transfer activity may be put down this New Ground malarkey, and a wait and see policy on the ground move, offsetting, transfer activity. This is a dangerous ploy, because if there is no investment in the squad, and all the focus is on moving ground, and we are relegated, then what has been the point of securing a new ground? Jeopardising our Premier League status in favour of a new ground, would be a disaster!

As a matter of urgency 'Bully' and 'Corrie' should make a statement to shareholders and season ticket holders with regard to this anomaly! Everton fans are grateful of the progress that the club has made, but lets not take our eye off the ball.............events on the pitch come first......a New Ground second! I hope that we make 2 or 3 more reasonable quality signings, and I hope we have another good season! Come on you blues! Mal (trueblue.....but not holdings). (13/07/07)

Three out and just one in

How does this strengthen a woefully thin squad. We seem to be able to drop our wage bill with expediency but every transfer into the club is a saga. We are embarrassingly outbid by the likes of Portsmouth and West ham over Nugent while minnows like Wigan can find over 5 million for Koumas while we dither and count our coppers. IT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH for any club with an iota of ambition and I personally am sick of the lies and promises that emanate from our board of directors. Even the signing of Jagielka smacks of a utility addition....he does not know where he will play and could be put to left back with Lescott at centre back. If Nugent is not worth more than 4 million how the hell could the money wasted on Beattie be justified. Nugent is much more mobile than Beattie and has lots more skill, plus he is a man who WANTS to play for us. Beattie peaked at Soton and has been on the slide long before he joined us...for godsake he couldn't get in the Soton team and they were in the championship. By the time dithering Dave and the EFC board make a move...it will be too late because lots of decent players have already moved to other clubs who obviously have ambitious directors who know that investment in players creates success. I am thoroughly disgusted at the snails pace we move. Trev Lynes. (13/07/07)

New Everton Wallpapers

Ok I have had a few beers, but I have to say. I am UNHAPPY about the new wallpapers. There are SO many new AWSOME ones (damn I am loving the ones with the recent logo’s) that I don’t have time to have them all on my computer and it means there are some GREAT ones that I only have on for a day or so before I have to change it, and some of these beauties deserve a full MONTH. Keep up the good work. Happy days. Tezza. (13/07/07)

What Slogan?

I am after a bit of help. I'm going to the Salt Lake City to watch the blues. I want to take a banner and am just wondering if you can
ask the blues fans to come up with a slogan about the redshites owners to put on the banner. Many thanks. Graham Dobie. (13/07/07)

British Transfers

I for one was a little concerned to see that Mosey wasn't very active in the transfer market early doors. I must say I'm really pleased to see the team being built around a strong backbone of British players and if the Richardson and Smith rumours have any foundation we'll have a team with as many Brits in as the 84-85 season. Team spirit is key and to be fair language can sometimes be a barrier. I think we're heading in the right direction and it means more prospects of Everton players in the England set-up meaning we can attract even more better players in years to come. James L - COYB!!!!!! (13/07/07)

Pre-season Blues

Another summer comes, and another summer goes, we're in Europe (yeay) again and I have the horrible foreboding that we're going to end up again going into an European campaign without the strength in depth to support us all season and make a mark in the league at that crucial time - UEFA Cup is no use if we're fighting at the bottom half of the table.

Again, the blame (if you want to blame people and I like blaming people as it makes me feel better) is firmly at the board's door (not the manager - I think Moyes is one of the best managers and a British manager at that of the last 10 years to work in this country - let's hope we can keep hold of him if we're attacked on all fronts).

Clear out the board, get a sense of direction and heads out of the sand. It's embarrassing. Ask yourself these questions?

Why can we not sell ourselves?

Why is there no market analysts working for the club, searching for new investment?

Why is no one interested in investing? (and we're not just talking about looking at the books and then walking away), NO ONE is coming up with a way to angle into the club.

It's a travesty of justice. I don't care for Russia cash or Yankee dollars, I've said before there are too many strings attached with all that, but, no, not even a little sniff of cash - Blue Bill wandering around like the man from the Provident trying to exchange luncheon vouchers for a little more loose change, Mother Twanky indeed. I've now seen the Kirkby plans as well, not in great detail, but it does look like something out of 'Space 1999' and from the planet Tescos. It's like a citadel - bloody hell, why could they not have submitted realistic proposals - any county planner will tell (which I'm not incidentally) is that something like that will go to the Minister in Whitehall after the legal arguments have been thrashed out for a final decision.

Great, say we agree to go to Kirkby, (and that is another loaded voting system - thanks Bill), Tescos pay for it all, and then when the councils and the local opposition from residents kick in, and all the legal arguments start kicking off, Tesco will get cold feet and leave us at the alter. To Tescos, football comes third after frozen peas and cheap petrol. Believe that, that is a fact. But we're damned if we do and damned if we don't, finding a site in the city means finding the associated investment. New blood + new investment + new board + fans = new hope. Keep the faith
Rich Welsh Blues. (13/07/07)

Shandy Andy

From what I saw of Shandy Van after he originally recovered from injury as an Everton player I was impressed. He can take people on and, call me old fashioned, but this is what I look for in a winger. Since then he's been injured more often than Louis Saha, but you can't blame him for that. We can blame him though for not seeming to look fit whenever he's played since and for mouthing off every few months about not playing, only to take it back a week later because he'd had one too many Shandys. He gets paid a lot of money to sit on the bench and he repays us by being a tit via the media. Get shut Moyesie. Tony, Wirral. (13/07/07)

Thanks Nace

Although he was not everyone's favourite, I thought that the left side that consisted of Nace, Unsworth and Pembridge was one of the best, and most solid groups of players that the Blues used. Each player attacked, and often more importantly covered for each other as a strong unit. During their best spells it was Everton's right hand side that had the problems, often with Steve Watson trying to do it all on his own, a situation that is usually forgotten.

The result of several unfortunate injuries meant the Nace lost 5 or 10% of the pace he had, together with his lack of height meant the team moved on leaving him with a peripheral role in the 1st team. I want every player to want to play and not be content being "in the squad". In Nace's case International football is a probability when you are in view of your national manager so a move became essential for him to continue his dreams of continued International football, even if it meant dropping down a division.

This desire to do his best, even though it was not always appreciated by some sections at Goodison, together with his workrate should be remembered and appreciated now that he has moved on. So long and thanks, Nace... Alan Rolfe. (13/07/07)

Transfers

Remain to be linked with several players, none of whom fill that one position we need most, a commanding central midfielder. Whilst I am confident that Jagielka will do a great job for us I still think we need a player who will prevent the calamitous collapses that we witnessed against Utd last season, among others. We have witnessed several high profile central midfielders change clubs this season, and we didn't bid for any of them. I am firmly in the Moyes we trust camp, and the fact that I am moaning about certain signings that I feel will see us challenging for a top four place, says everything about the great job he has done, remember the Blessed Walter? when we should have been grateful to him for keeping us in the Premiership!

I just worry that he may be making the same mistakes as he did two seasons ago when he appeared to sign quantity rather than quality. Maybe Moyes has it all in hand and a further signing is imminent, personally I would love to see a bid for Nolan, I think the similarities are amazing with that other boyhood red from Bolton, whom a lot of fans also had reservations about who subsequently went on to win every major honour with Everton and play in the world cup finals! Come on Moyes, forget Koumas, Richardson and Smith,( who nearly comes with as much baggage as John Lennon airport) a central midfielder please!!!!!! Blue Oz. (13/07/07)
