Whatever
you think e-mail your views to info@bluekipper.com
We have had loads of e-mails regarding the stadium issue over the past week or so. We will get ALL your views on the site as soon as possible. The Blue Kipper Team. (25/07/07) Move But Not Kirkby Well, I have been discussing this situation with my mates who are voting.......and guess which way they are ALL voting?? No prizes for guessing........Move away BUT not to Kirkby. I know at least 20 people who have got the vote and they in turn probably know 20 people and I don't know one passionate person who is going to vote yes. My opinion is that this vote is going to be rigged and we will end up moving. Just when we thought that Agent Johnson was the enemy...... I now think that Betty Turpin's son is losing the plot and his ineptitude to invest money in new players is probably a smokescreen to invest the new TV money with Mr Leahy and his merry band of supermarket owners. So there you ave it.... from hamper man to fellow food seller. Perhaps Ebeneezer Kenwrong could ask Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber for a pay rise to enable Moyesy to at least compete for reasonable players instead of scraping the bottom of the barrel to see if any talent is still available. If we don't sign any top names soon....then the likes of Arteta and Cahill will see their arse and get offski in the new year. Lets concentrate on building a winning team first and put this stadium bullshit to bed for a long time. We missed our boat when we let the Kings Dock dream die. Alan Withe. (27/07/07) Wyness Interview I think that was an excellent interview and I'm convinced that we have to go to Kirkby, bring it on ASAP. Regards. Mike Squires. (26/07/07) New Stadium Think Very Carefully As
a season ticket holder of some 30 years standing I'm growing more and
more concerned by the emails on this site regarding the ground move. No To Kirkby Please don't be swayed by the impressive pictures of our new stadium. It looks superb and I would be made up to move to a ground like that but not in fucking Kirkby, I can see people changing there minds already but be strong and keep Everton where they belong, in the city of Liverpool. Kirkby is only down the road from Wigan and St Helens and you can only get to it by driving out of Liverpool. Fuck Wyness and his promises, we were the first club here so this is where we should stay. Mathew Kelly. (26/07/07) Lets Go Now After seeing the stadium design at LONG last if we don’t go now we might aswell sell them to a championship side with ambition. I,ve been going the game all my life and if we want 30,000 going to the game and losing money when it comes to the big name signings then be my guest and stay at Goodison, But it doesn't,t make sense to stay, Move now whilst we have a good mixture of young and not so old (Sorry stubbs old chap). But go now don,t dither on this one. I want to see the time when players are asking to come to Everton again because we have been successful and with the squad we have a team who are willing to play for each other. The shite are spending millions on players but won nothing the exact same as us last season. Go to the stadium now and then when the price is agreed back Moyes with the money he needs because I think we have a good manager, One or two signings have been dodgy but on the whole who can argue with Tim and Mikel and AJ. We are only going two miles down the road with improved roads. I park when I go the game now and have to walk literally a mile to get to the ground. Also the four stands are spot on for the atmosphere, The red shite wont have any atmosphere in their new ground but plenty of hot dog stands. I was talking to an Arsenal fan not so long ago and he says with the round design of their stadium the fans have no sense of their end to sit in or sit next to any other Gooners. So on the whole move now or miss the boat and we will become a small club. Blue forever. Ste (26/07/07). Park End Option Why not just rebuild on goodison? Keep the Park end, keep the Gwladys street end and gradually season after season make the main stand and the Bullens road side stand into a more secure and larger stand by knocking it down and re-building. THen we could rent out at Tranmeres stadium for however long it takes to build! .. Actually no maybe that won't work I suppose I'm just living in a dream world. Robert, Preston 12 (26/07/07). Rig-Free Ballot Just a thought on the eligibility to vote on the move to Kirkby. I've just read Denis B's impassioned e-mail regarding his exclusion from voting. I share his concerns, but would like someone (anyone) to come up with a secure method of providing a rig-free ballot process. If anyone could apply for a ballot paper you don't have to be a rocket scientist to realise that the Red Shite would be queuing up to vote in favour of a move, leaving them as the only team in the City. It must have some constraints in order to prevent such a travesty becoming a "given". Ray Roche (26/07/07). Ballot Does it feel to anyone else like if the ballot generally votes to stay at Goodison the club will say it is only a basic guide with no real weight, whereas if the vote is in favour of moving it will be treated as a mandate to up sticks? I cant help but feel uncomfortable with the air of dark politics that seem to be at play here. The club are treading a very fine line with fans on this, not helped by Keith's remarkably one sided comments last week. I'd like to see significantly more transparency regarding what has/hasn’t been set in stone on the matter. This has the feeling of a done deal that is trying to legitimize itself any by means necessary .I sincerely hope this is not the case, as I want to believe I can trust the club to act in the fans interests as opposed the most attractive business case - at the moment this is a struggle. Zac Levy (26/07/07). Outsiders Opinion As an American based Toffee having had the privilege of attending matches at Goodison many times, Id would like to give a outsiders opinion. Taking one look at the stadium drawings for the proposed new home at Kirkby, and all I can think is this all wrong ! The Stadium looks and sounds very " americanized " a sterile environment in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by car parks not pubs. Do not fall into the trap city councils in the states have. Replacing iconic stadiums with easy-to-do and on-the-cheap replacements serves neither the city nor the club in the end. Rebuilding at the current site may cause a few years of financial strain and seat shortages in the stands; but taking the easy way out throws away 100 + years of history and tradition. It truly astounds me that now the Albert Dock idea from a few years back now sounds like a pretty good option. AP (26/07/07). Awesome Stadium Having spent all summer constantly checking the web for transfer news and finding nothing i've ended up spending allot of time reading all the emails about the proposed move. Everyone of course has got their own opinion and many valid points have been made on the pros and cons of moving. In my eyes we have to move, lets face it if we forget the fact that we will be outside the city limits what other negatives are there? None really, lets face it if we get an awesome stadium for virtually no cost to us, and increased revenue for players, surely this is the most important thing? At the end of the day, it's been said that by moving out of the city we are surrendering to the enemy, but do they really care? Of course not, they don't see us competition anyway they're more interested in what manure, ares, and chelski are doing. The most important thing is that we have success on the field and win trophies, and if moving achieves this then i'm all for it! Chris Addison (26/07/07). The Wyness Interview Thanks. Very informative and adds a lot to the debate. I sent another email last week from work calling for a bit of reality and this article certainly does that. I also noted that another site near the Wallasey tunnel entrance could become available, amazingly within the Everton boundaries, emotionally this could be brilliant but unfortunately the economics will surely rule it out for anyone other than a Walter Mitty Character. Regards. The Caveman. Paul Cave - exiled in Hampshire. (26/07/07) Stick It Tell Wyness to stick it. Everton must stay Warren Bradley has said there is a site on scotty road (everton district) right in the heart of our great city PERFECT ps Kenwright's not saying much?? Anfield Blue Ste O'Connor (26/07/07). Lost Passion New plans revealed eh? As well as the spotlights pointing sky wards.. there seems to be another error regarding the bulb tipped flagpoles. From the top elevation there are four and from the side elevation only three. and this was a grand reveal??If that was GCSE level in Art design, you'd lose points there. It makes me wonder sometimes ..I surrounded my season ticket this year. I told them i lost my job and could no longer afford it..Last season i traveled Home and Away..The season before the same - plus tripping to Thailand (Asia Cup) Spain (Champs league) and Romania (UEFA).. For what?Cos i love a club which i have no immediate connection with (I'm from Crewe by the way) I don't want to see the club moving beyond the boundary..but in typical "Everton Fashion" it will happen, cos its what the fans don't want. A couple of years ago the talk on the terrace was Beattie or Keane.. In my opinion (for what it counts) they even made a balls up of that. To see a club turn down Dean Ashton and Darren Bent and instead choose James Beattie for the same cost..and now..To see a Club umm and arr over signing a potential England forward (David Nugent) who himself confesses he really wants to sign for no other Club but the Club he too loves with a passion..Oh by the way, I haven't lost my job. I've just lost the passion. J (26/07/07). Begining Of The End It's the beginning of the end, we are going to have a new corporate over sponsored shit box with no atmosphere, lfc will have the freedom of the city, we will have no identity, no character, probably less fans, make no mistake we are in as bad a position as leeds, we will be where they are in 10 years and no one will care. Freelandj350 (26/07/07). 50,000 fans contributing an average of £1,000, who needs Tesco's or Bully. My £1,000 is available anytime. Bill seems to have lost touch with the genuine fans !! and by the way there are loads of us here. Does anyone have the know-how of pulling together a list of those who might contribute towards a new Goodison Park in the City? From Dave in Spain (26/07/07). Don't Move Honestly believe we should boycott the ballot and push the club to build a great TEAM first. Football is entertainment and the fans will follow a good team wherever they play. Whats the point of building a new ground that will probably end up as the Liverpool version of the millennium dome. We MUST invest in new players as a priority...the new ground is secondary. Trev Lynes (26/07/07). Would the Gates Increase? Wyness states that numbers will go down if we stay at Goodison, - as one fan said that is very arguable. However, even more questionable is - if we did move to Kirkby, would the gates increase??? Would they indeed increase if we moved anywhere - even within the city boundaries? I think we have the best fan base and one of the best turnouts with healthy gates week in and week out, but we don't reach capacity now so why would we if we moved? This isn't an argument to stay put but if they're relying on an increase in gates to finance the balance of debt I think they could be in trouble. I also resent the fact they do not have a plan B. As one journalist said that is more a fault of the inept city council. However,if we vote 'no', they will have to find a plan B. As much as I'd rather not be financed by a retailer like Tesco, to be honest I don't mind that much compared to some other options and it seems that they are offering a reasonable deal. However, not in Kirkby. I live in Aintree and I consider myself and anyone who lives in Kirkby a scouser but it is still officially out of the city boundaries and to some people like impressionable young children that is enough of a reason to support the other side. Why can't they do a deal with Tesco somewhere within the city boundaries, even looking at the Dock Road again. I suspect like most other waterfronts that area will soon be redeveloped (and certainly would if Everton moved there), and Tesco would stand to make a pretty packet. Julie Mayor (26/07/07). Kirkby Here We Come Me and my dad are both blue through and through, but we have to wake up! goodison the home of football is finished ! for all the great memories there, it's now a disgrace to how well we are doing. Its worse than most 1st and 2nd division football teams. we have to take the fantastic new stadium and move on. and by the looks of things and the pictures of it. it lives up to our dreams of being one of the biggest clubs again. we will lose our manager, players if we don't move on and grow. So we should move on just like Arsenal and enjoy the benefits of a great new stadium. I say move on KIRKBY here we come!!!! Iain Harvey (26/07/07). It's time to get out There's loads of people with reasons why we should and shouldn't leave goodison. The fact of the matter is, we've got no money at all to finance a move off our own bat and we haven't been able to raise any decent amount of money for the transfer kitty for more seasons than i care to remember! If it takes tesco financing a new ground to move our club forward then we should go for it (and for those opposed to moving away from goodison - if u guys get your way there's only one way our club is goin and that is down!). I love goodison park (even though massive no's of seats are obstructed view!) but it's time to get outta there and into the 21st century. L'pool city council av always favored the red shite so its no surprise they've not been bending over backwards to offer us any decent sites within city boarders. Lets get behind this move and return EFC back to its rightful place - competing for Honours! Danny, Aintree (26/07/07). Move Forward I have read the comments made by the other fans over the new stadium in Kirkby. I to, am a loyal blue and have been all of my life, and do not want to see the blues leave the city. Letting my head rule my heart I feel the move to Kirby will not stop other loyal fans attending the matches. The new ground will generate more revenue for the club, and help us move forward. I understand the feelings of the fans, but any criticism should be constructive and not complaining just for the sake of it. David Bell (26/07/07). Boundaries I've lived in Liverpool all my life and I have always seen Kirkby as a part of Liverpool. Not so long ago it WAS a part of Liverpool. If what some have said regarding the fact that Goodison was at some time or other not a part of the Liverpool city boundaries is true, then the argument that we have always been one of 2 clubs in the city is not. We were the first club in the city and that will always be true. If Kirkby was still officially a part of Liverpool then there would not be such a split opinion and would very probably result in a completely one side ballot with over 90% in favour of the move. Why are official city boundaries so important? The fact is that everyone in kirkby is a scouser, try telling them they are not. Most of them would include Liverpool and not Knowsley on their address. Kirkby is officially a part of Knowsley, but in every other way is a part of Liverpool. There is also a large Evertonian fan base within Kirkby. Any Evertonian saying they would not go to the games for the sake of a few miles are not true fans, why don't you just stay away in the first place? Some of these so called fans suggest sites in speke, which is further away and arguably less a part of Liverpool than Kirkby. If Everton fans remain loyal as they have done for many years, then our support and fan base will not decrease, it will remain strong and grow stronger. I've been sitting on the fence for a while now, and although i liked and disliked some things within the argument of keith wyness, i am going to vote for the ground. I believe the loyalty of the fans is the all important factor. Some are threatening to end their support of the club if we move and others seem worried that we will lose support, but how will we if people continue supporting the club and if their children continue to support the club and their children, its complete nonsense to suggest our support will disappear. We as a club need to make the next step towards a better future together, we cannot afford to be scared of change. Phil (26/07/07). No To Kirkby This is getting really serious now. We Evertonians need to make a stand on this one. We are Everton Football Club and we belong in Liverpool - full stop. This is all about Kenwright turning his EFC project into a tidy investment for the paltry amount he acquired the club for. I challenge anyone to dispute that. The debt is constantly getting reduced, he's not spending the Sky money on players. All the time Kenwright's personally owned stake in EFC is getting more and more valuable and will be topped off by this stitch up. Moyes is feeding off scraps and yet has assembled a good squad. That wont go on for ever and Moyes wont be there for ever...he's already well outlasted the average stint for a manager just going by statistics alone. We are being told to go to Kirkby for an extra £10million a year..WHAT A PRICE TO PAY FOR £10M A YEAR! We know under Kenwright that that's all we'll get to spend until he's cleared all the debts off don't we. And by the way the stadium looks like a cheap and nasty dump - this whole thing is a complete embarrassment. Cheers, Mark, Garston. (26/07/07) I'm 23 yrs old and have been going to Goodison for 20yrs now. I love the place and if the new stadium goes ahead I will be there to say goodbye to Goodison and not doubt I will shed a few tears. But we need to realise that new stadiums are the way forward now, if we stay at Goodison it won't get redeveloped due to the surrounding area's and it would cost far too much to buy the houses just to knock them down. I honestly can't think of anywhere else within the city to build this ground. My heart says stay but my brain and common sense says lets go for it. Look what happened to the two Milan teams, fans weren't allowed to watch to due to safety regulations, and Goodison will get to that stage if we stay. Its gonna be paid for by Tesco yes, but it'll finally get us on the right track to getting out of debt, which has stopped us being in the top four like the dirty red shite. We should be there with the top four. Everyone is moaning about the new stadium saying we should be getting new players instead, lets face it, it'll cost us £10m and that is fuck all for the stadium we'll get and then we'll have money to spend on new players. Looking at the pics on the Everton website and the stadium plans look shit hot!!!! Even better than the emirates, plus big players want to play in the premiership & at nice stadiums, and when players go to this new ground they'll be blown away. Big players now are generally younger too, they'll know nothing about our history and won't care what we did in the 80's, it's all about now and the future, so lets stop going on about that side of it. If we're gonna be in Europe every season then we need this new ground. All sorts of events will and could be held at this new ground, things like Cream fields, which will generate a shed load of money. So boys & girls if you love Everton like I do, then we need to WAKE UP and go with the times, if you all want Everton to be big like we used to then we need to do this and you need to back every decision 100% for us to be bigger than the RED SHITE like we should be, it is their fault we are where we are due to them in Heysel. Lets do what we know is right and move to Kirkby, it's still a Liverpool postcode for fucks sake, nobody was moaning when Speke was on the agenda and that is closer to Widnes and Runcorn then the city centre. So lets go for it Toffee's and be even more proud to be the best and most passionate fans in the city and the country, we are the best and deserve the best!!!!!! Mcmahong470 (26/07/07). Some Carrot-Cruncher Dictating Terms Having read Wyness's 'do or die' ultimatum, I conclude that It is time for that lousy, overpaid, unrealistic S******r in disguise to go. He just doesn't get it. We know what's right, we know what we want, and what we definitely don't want, is some carrot-cruncher dictating terms. Thatcher amongst others tried it.It's not me, and it's not the Evertonian way. Adios over to the crown land, to the masonic land, Wyness. Gerard (St Gerards', Boundary St, Scotty Rd), Australia.(26/07/07). Liverpool City Council Does anyone believe that Liverpool City council has offered any reasonable sights for EFC to relocate? One team in the city makes sense for them. they get to promote the city by including a team that happens to bear the name and have won things over the years. Every visiting dignitary will be shown around the city than off to see the team that represents the city of Liverpool. Having another team team in the way blocks all this. Knowsley get the same deal with Everton. After Peter Johnson, Bill Kenwright has steadied us but he really needs to stop and think about this. The ballot, like someone said the other day on the site, is to judge the depth of feeling of the supporters. I would prefer to stay in the city and when you drive down Edge Lane there appears to be loads of brown field sites that look available. Staying at Goodison would be great but I can't see it happening. We should rent our old ground off them and then knock down and rebuild Goodison on the same site. Keep the faith. A Huyton (Knowsley) blue (26/07/07). Two Reasons why we should go I just looked at the new plans on the official web site i can only say 2 things about it. 1.) anyone who says this ground move is bad because its moving out of walton is talking utter bull goodison park no matter how much i love it is old and out dated, walton its self is hardly a nice area its full of victorian 2 up 2 down houses which give the place a look of death and misery. kirkby as far as I'm concerned Is liverpool you try telling someone from kirkby they are not a scouser! 2.) the new ground is breath taking I'm glad that we did not get kings dock now because this is a new goodison park bar the one corner stand we have! its atmospheric and has room for expansion it looks like a place we can call home for the next 100 years its that good i got the shivers down my neck just the same as i get them when ever i see the old lady myself! enough said. THE FUTURE OF EVERTON IS NOT TO LOOK AT THE PAST GLORIES ITS TO GAIN FUTURE ONES. ITS SAD TO LEAVE GOODISON BUT IT NEEDS TO BE DONE. Craig G (26/07/07). Glorious Past At Goodison Like all
of you I'm an Everton fan and am proud of the clubs glorious past whilst
at Goodison. There are lots of golden memories that people have of the
old place. Now we have an opportunity to create some new memories. The
sticking point is that some fans want to hold us back. Look at the facts.
A new stadium that will be financed by somebody else other than the club
means minimal debts to the club. Extra revenue for the club will be created.
This deal is the best deal we are going to get as if there was an alternative,
it would have been revealed by now. The problem that's being 'created'
by some fans is a matter of pride in the face of a few cheap jibes from
Kopites about leaving the city. If we are stubborn enough and thick enough
to take these to heart, we are as bad as them. The new ground will be
4 miles away and in Merseyside. The only difference of being in Knowsley
is the colour of the bins. These are council boundaries for christ sake
and is a pathetic reason to stay at Goodison. Common Sense is called for I'd
love to stay at Goodison. However, we are being given a chance to have
a new 50,000 all seater stadium, so a bit of common sense is called for.
We realistically cannot stay at the same site, and Tesco have provided
and opportunity for a new stadium with unobstructed views, and increased
capacity. But most importantly very little debt at the end of it. All
Everton have to pay towards the new stadium is the fittings. Everything
has to move on eventually, and we aren't getting little help from anywhere
else, i don't think the council would build us a stadium. Pretending to be democratic the standard
way of getting people to accept change is to slag off the status quo and
deliberately run down the service or in our case the ground by neglect
and deliberate withholding of investment. remember all the privatizations
of the thatcher era and since?politicians and their paymasters would tell
you that something that is working perfectly well is actually crap and
needs totally replacing with some new super duper product.they then use
propaganda and spin and the gullibility of the public to force their money
making scheme onto us. always it is the public who lose out,no exception.
Pretending to be democratic about the stadium move is a sham.even if 100%
voted against ,do you really think they are going to change their fully
formulated plans to make a fortune?wake up and smell the bullshit! telling
us that its all for the best and we don't understand the big picture is
insulting and offensive. Goodison could be re developed if the will was
there, old trafford and st. james park are proof of that.the truth is that
Goodison should already be a top class stadium but the junta have sold
us down the river to line their own pockets. The move will go ahead.its
a done deal.but what benefits will it bring?new sponsors,bigger capacity,higher
profile ,cure for cancer?as for all you turkeys voting for christmas,i
haven't heard one argument for a move that stands up to scrutiny and I'm
quite willing to hear from anyone who feels differently.and when your
all sitting in the new reebock-eastlands hybrid trying to get a chant
going in your £75 a match seat just take a minute to listen to the
sound of all those kopites laughing their tiny curly cocks off. Emotion v Financial Having read lots of contributions on this subject it seems to me to be a case of emotion v financial realism. I am afraid that in the modern football world financial realism will always be the winner. The emotional romanticists who want something that is probably impossible will end up in the Third Division or whatever they call it these days. Unless they can produce a positive plan that is viable the Tesco option looks good to me. Money is everything in football whether we like it or not. Everton are making very good progress year on year in everything they attempt. A new stadium sooner rather than later is a must. We must not let this chance go as there may not be another one. Cheers Geoff Cobb (26/07/07). Load of Bricks I have supported Everton for over 50 years; man and boy. I have travelled and lived abroad for many years. I remember listening to our dramatic escape from relegation when we played the 10 men from Wimbledon (their goalkeeper was on our side) from my apartment in Singapore. I currently live in St Petersburg in Russia and everyday I check the web sites for Everton. When I hear people moaning about moving four miles down the road to Kirby I really do think they need to ask who are they supporting – the greatest football team in the land or a decrepitated load of bricks. When I am back home I always try to get to Goodison, even though I now live in the South, but on my last visit to Goodison she really did look like an old lady who had seen better days. Give her a good funeral boys she deserves one and she would be the first to tell you its time to move on! Geoff Edwards (26/07/07). Just look At Hull City!!! Having spent 17 years in east Yorkshire and now back home on Merseyside, I witnessed in Hull what a stadium move achieves. With no football to watch, I used to watch hull fc rugby league, initially in an old stadium called the boulevard, which made glorious Goodison look like the new wembley. The local council invested into a new site and stadium about 2 miles from the boulevard and 2 miles from hull city’s boothferry park. The result: Hull Fc attendances rose from 4000-5000 per match to around 12000-14000 a match, with the big games attracting 18,000. Hull city attendances rose from 7000-8000 a match to an average 18000 per match with sell out 25000 for big matches. Why stay at Goodison? For sure its our home, tradition, history etc etc etc, nobody will deny that, but if we can increase to a capacity 50,000 with a move, then who cares where the move is. I’ve lived the blue rollercoaster for 40 years since I was 4 years of age and I’ll live it to my grave. Outside the city boundaries? Says who?? The politicians who want a vote?? Solution, lets get KirKby back into Liverpool city limits and f**k the shite across the park and the local councilors who play their games. Wake up and smell the coffee…its Kirkby or nowhere. Blue Mik (26/07/07). Reality I have thought and thought about the whole situation that we're in. Everyone has mentioned the pro and cons, I understand every point made so I won't repeat them. Clear thinking tells me that if we stay at Goodison, we will be in the shadow of the septic tank up on the hill, simple. Goodison Park will be embarrassing in comparison. We have the history, that will NEVER change. We can make more history for our future Blues by "regrouping" so as to speak, coming back stronger and better than ever before. We can't cut off our nose etc. If we don't move, we'll be another Tranmere. The smuggles from across the park are getting a massive stadium built with the help of the council, fact. We've been left out to dry! Fact. We've got to look after ourselves, so we will. Liverpool council will always rue what they've done to EFC. We must get some input into the layout and name of any new stadium (Stuff Wyness saying we could get extra revenue with the naming rights etc) AusPom (26/07/07). Stadium Debate It absolutely baffles me when I hear people complain and register their utmost disgust with a move to Kirkby. What difference does it make? Okay we won’t be in the true ‘City’ boundaries but so what. We are not Liverpool we are Everton. Where is Everton on the map? Well in football terms we are a middle of the road team who slowly but surely are clawing our way back in to a respectable established position in the league. We are a team who can produce good football and will compete at the top of the ‘Best of the Rest’ league. So where does that leave Everton the place? Well just north of Liverpool where it will remain but when the club becomes to big for Everton ‘the place’ then is it right to remain complacent, dig our heels in and stay put in an old and dilapidated stadium amongst the terraced houses? No! I have been going to Everton for about 18 years now and pleased to say that I’ve been a season ticket holder. However, I felt it necessary to give this up only recently as I was sick of the club and the facilities. I’ll admit the atmosphere at Goodison is fantastic and one which, in my opinion, is hard to beat yet, and especially in Bullens Road, what a disgraceful operation it is behind the scenes. At present I’d rather watch Everton at home or in the Pub. Is this not a sad state of affairs? A new home does not mean we are severing ties with Everton. We will always be Everton only we are now an Everton who are to big for our surroundings. We cannot be sustained by our immediate location in this ever changing world that is Premiership Football. If we were in the championship or league one then Goodison would be ideal but that’s the trade off I guess. Lets face it there are now plenty of clubs far worse than Everton in terms of support and history but still have a far greater emphasis towards the money making machine that is corporate hospitality. Whilst it’s important not to forget the fans it is equally important to make Everton a prospect and interesting venue for corporate events. Without this we will always be a small team and quite a joke actually given our very pathetic looking out of date boxes and marquees in the car park. If I was a millionaire I wouldn’t be too eager to take my guests to such a venue. So what options to we have? Well simply stay where we are and regress whilst everyone else gets on with the movement and progression, or move and be in cash rich position and in a new stadium. We are Everton, we won’t forget we came from but we are savvy enough to know what we want are how to achieve it. The time is now. I say lets move – the sooner the better! Jonathan, Crosby Fan (26/07/07). The Most Important Decision This
is the most important decision we've had to make about the future of our
club for over 100 years. There's no surprise that feelings are running
high as this goes to the heart and soul of what it means to be an Evertonian.
Most of us support the club because it's in our blood and in most aspects
of our fan dom our heart rightly rules our head. I've lived in London
for 20 years and whilst I've relinquished my season ticket I still attend
as many games as distance and 3 kids allows and I'll be touring Europe
this year. If I applied any form of logic I'd be going to Stamford Bridge
this year which is 20 minutes from my house. But you'll all understand
why I haven't even contemplated this for a second. Ground Move I'm not a scouser, don't live near Goodison. But I am a Evertonian, I Have the 1995 cap badge tattoo on my leg , I have " NIL SATIS NISI OPTIMUM" tattooed across my back. Get to as many games with my boys as the Mrs allows. Trust me when I say Everton must stay at Goodison. It does need work doing to it, But Its history , Its Atmosphere, the fact the crowd are so close to the pitch. Tells you that its unique. That's what makes Everton Special the whole picture. Why move to a bigger Stadium .55.000 15.000 bigger than now. You will lose the thing that makes us special . Just because its Harder and Difficult to remain where we are (and somebody Wants to gain from a move) . Does not mean its right. The best things are worth fighting For. Nige Harris (26/07/07). I cant see what all the moaning is about I cant see what all the moaning is about with the club moving to kirkby, we are getting a brand spanking new stadium for next to nothing which is going to generate more money for the team and stop us falling even more behind the yankee noodles across the park. So what its going to be in kirkby which is a hell of lot closer the speke to goodison park but because kirkby is what out of the supposed city limits what a load of crap, kirkby still has the liverpool postcode and up until a few years back was classed as being part of liverpool and is full of scousers. so all the fans who supposedly want the best for the clubs future stop moaning and back our beloved club, fair enough bill kenwright is no russian but he has the club badge on his heart. Jrfrozzy (26/07/07). Our Chairman Needs to take a good long look at himself First of all i think that our Chairman needs to take a good long look at himself, he talks about money..? WHAT MONEY? So where is the money coming from for the new stadium???? Ok i would love to see my Everton walking out at a new Goodison park, but whats wrong with just putting any money we've got into developing our beloved team. I would much rather see the blues competing in Europe year on year and bring the big European teams back to Goodison. Adam in Skem (26/07/07) We've missed the boat I can't believe how many people are recommending us staying at GP. Doesn't every EFC fan want to stay?! The only problem is, that it's not an option. The Kings Dock debacle has been and gone. We've missed the boat to be brutally honest. But the next best option is to move. I would like nothing better than to be able to re-develop the 'shrine' and stay put; but unfortunately it's not possible. And I would just like to add, that I have no ulterior motive to go to Kirkby, unlike most of the other people against the move.....but I don't see anyone else with a big idea. I have a funny feeling that if this all comes off, then Tesco Terry (Leahy) will invest alongside Robert Earl in the next 3-5 years. I'm expecting this to happen, not hoping. Surely it makes sense, if everything is to be believed, that the £15m brought in from the sale of Goodison and the small fee we would have to pay for the ground through Tesco et al is a step in the right direction. I don't care about not being in Liverpool, that doesn't even make sense. Are people saying people from Kirkby are not Scousers!!! Just like some people say Bootle aren't!!! If that is true, then why don't they support their city?! Exactly!. It's all a load of bull. Anyway, how do people think we will progress staying at a stadium that is ridiculed. Have a look at all the clubs who have big investors, then look at their ground plans. It's not a coincidence!!! I have criticized Kenwright in the past, but I realise that he didn't have that much money to start with and put in virtually everything he had. If everybody who knew how difficult it is to generate funds out of a football club, without it already making big bucks, they would have second thoughts about slagging him off. Keep The Faith Blues. By the way, our squad will be good enough to see off the jokers most of the other lot - who, by the way are buying to catch up with us. Free transfers make sense, cos if the Torres move doesn't work out for the RS, then they have lost out big time!!! Look at their record of buying big, Cisse, Heskey, Diouf, and Chelsea, Shevchenko; and United, Veron. As long as the players that come in provide good competition (something that we don't have already!!!) then I'm happy. Paul Dargan (26/07/07). New Goodison I've supported this club for 45 years and have watched our beloved Goodison Park deteriorate year on year. At the same time I have traveled to other grounds like Old trafford and seen the facilities there fans enjoy and it not just your big clubs look at Bolton, Wigan, City and many more. Now we can all stand on a soap box and blame everyone form John Moores to Bill Kenwright but what's the point. Foe me the point is to put Everton back were we belong and if it takes Tesco's money to do it then so be it. I work in Warrington across the road from the Rugby stadium built by Tesco's, I live in St Helens who are getting a new Rugby stadium built by Tesco's. Tesco's are experts in this field and are will really going to turn down £50 million. If this mind set had prevailed in the past we'd still be at Anfield. Colin Holmes St Helens Blues (26/07/07). Stadium Move I think most Everton's deep down will agree that it is time to move, Goodison is a dump as much as I love the feeling i get when i go the game it is light years behind some of today's grounds. There is no way we can stay there for 2 reason's 1. as i said it's seen better day's 2. how good will it look when the shite build a 80,000 + stadium even closer? This is a once in a life time opportunity a free ground, let's face it we ain't swimming in cash and yes it may not be what we all want but this is the best option and potentially the best thing that could happen to Everton Football Club in the last 20 years. I think for all the moaning all Evertonians that go to Goodison will got to the new ground. Kirby ain't the best place in the world but we've been going to Walton for years. Tesco only want to do it to make cash there not a charity but at the moment Everton have to be, we cant waste money on players like the shite, manure and chelski but hopefully the cash from this would help us strength the squad in the long run. I think it's time to shut up and move on and as for all Evertonians now moaning about not getting a vote that it is only going to be season ticket holder's well, if you don't draw the line somewhere then where do you stop, give everyone in Liverpool a vote, the UK or all Evertonians everywhere, if your so bothered about the future over you club stop moaning get behind them and get £475 quid out your arse pocket and get the game. I know not everyone has the cash but it seems to be the ones who always moan "I haven't got the money for a season ticket but i go every game". Stop moaning get behind the blues and let's move onwards and upwards. As for Blue Bill he hasn't got no cash, he is the best of a bad bunch and until we become a more attractive club business wise no one will be interested. Hopefully the begriming of a beautiful relationship with tesco. Cheers Dave (26/07/07). Wyness Interview And Other Facts Loads
of opinions and facts have been aired about the new ground and I don't
intend to form an opinion as the vote will decide for us all. I have been an Evertonian for 34 years of my whole life! I will be very sad to see Goodison go but what choice have we got, no help from Liverpool City Council they are ONLY interested in one football club within the city boundaries and believe me its not Everton (so Liverpool Council reduce the Council Tax Rates for Evertonians, and increase the Council Tax Rate for LFC Fans to pay for your City of Culture!!) I have just read the Mickey Blue Eyes Interviews Everton CEO Keith Wyness and unfortunately all that I read makes sense Everton haven’t got the finance to redevelop The old lady. Having read Rabbit out of a hat by Neil Mulhearn, this Bluenose gentleman is correct we will have a new stadium to be proud of, we are debt free, ownership is retained by a genuine fan. So forget what Liverpool FC have and let’s concentrate on what us Bluenose fans and club will have. What’s the saying “Once a Blue, always a Blue, its in our heart and in our sole”, either in Liverpool city or Kirkby or across the world? Bluenose Bimbo-2. (26/07/07) The propaganda machine has started Finally some news out of Goodison – it is clear the club has little intention of listening to the fans regardless of the vote. The propaganda machine has started – Wyness is suddenly in the echo every night and on the local radio. It is this deal or none for him. Who the fuck does he think he is telling us what we have to accept. Frankly, this is the man responsible for the pathetic tickets arrangements for the Villareal game – remember that one - queues round the ground - no period for season ticket holders to get their own seats – chaos, and a big “fuck you” to loyal supporters. In his time I have seen little improvement of any facilities at Goodison or any of the commercial activities and I begin to suspect it may be almost a policy decision to run Goodison down deliberately. Hardly the back ground to convince us all that he has the acumen to run the commercial side of this club. We have heard nothing from the Chairman or other board members – why? I suspect none of them want to actually be seen to be shafting the fans and ignoring their views. Tesco are apparently going to be build us a stadium worth £75million although their stadium builders will do it for a knock down price of £50mill – what do you reckon we will get for that? The Riverside, or a bigger Reebok? Hardly likely to be the envy of Europe is it. Who will own it? Are Tesco’s in the business of gifting £50mill ? I suspect their shareholders may have something to say about that. Wyness tells us it will give David Moyes about another £10 million a year to spend – at current inflation rates then by the time the stadium is built that will get us a second rate no mark or two. Unfortunately, I think it is a done deal and only the people of Kirkby rejecting the stadium inclusion in the regeneration plan will prevent the end of an era. I will be voting no for what it’s worth. Gabba. (26/07/07) What Do You Think? Have your say! e-mail info@bluekipper.com e-mails index New Stadium - The Fans Views |
