2008 African Cup of Nations or the F A Cup?

I know I may be jumping the gun here and I do hope the Blues do sign Yakubu, a proven Premiership scorer. However we could then face the prospect of Joey Yobo, Victor Anichebe, the Yak, and Steven Pienaar all leaving to join their countries preparations for the 2008 African Cup of Nations at Christmas. The competition takes place in Ghana from Jan 20th to Feb 10th, so we could loose a major part of the Blues squad when we should be aiming for Wembley. Even if we don't sign the Yak, Everton's FA Cup hopes will be reduced by the loss of the other players.

I know all the talk is about the ground move vote at the moment, but ALL the real focus is on the money. Assumptions about long runs in the UEFA Cup only remind me of Bucharest, and we all know how badly that ended. If the money is so important why haven't we seen Everton fully commit to winning the FA Cup or Carling Cup? Long cup runs have always been part of Blues history and besides increasing the moral of supporters during some dire league campaigns they supplied the club with extra money.

All current talk is about profiles, marketing and tv revenues when it should be about winning things. Everton have one of the greatest histories in the FA Cup, and it is about time that our history got updated. It's been too long since 1995 and the fans want and need a good cup run. I hope that DM can deliver cup success, but I fear that he has his excuses already detailed in the birth certificates of the African players in our squad. Alan Rolfe

Everton In Takeover Talks

This is taken from this months "Business North West Insider Magazine" Didn't know we were in talks ??

Is football overheating? Insider’s August issue, out this week, asks whether the finances of the North West’s top ten clubs can take the strain of increased demands for players wages and the game becoming dominated by foreign billionaires. The magazine also reveals the status of takeover talks to buy Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers and Everton. A new report from accountants PKF claims 14 Premiership clubs expect to make a pre-tax profit in their next accounting period, but the majority have increased the level of their overdraft over the last year. A third of football finance directors admitted to “more pressure” from their banks.

Transfers

I notice that there is a bid in to sign Fernandes and also Yakubu has been mentioned.......if there's money for these players available now, then why didn't we sign Alan Smith??..The lad even had Everton as his first choice. I'm sure most Evertonians would have loved to have had him in the side, not least for his dislike for the Redshite.
Don't get me wrong, I liked Fernandes last season, and think he'd do a good job, but if he was that committed to Everton, then we'd have struck a deal much earlier than now. I'm just a bit suspicious that we're suddenly awash with money....or is it just another rumour just to appease the fans. Hope not..we certainly need to get a few more in. If we get a bad run of injuries we're knackered....we'll all have to start bringing our boots! Here's to a cracking season and a run in Europe. Big Ged (Runcorn)

Poll

I have noticed the poll to predict who will win the prem this season. I went on the link and found it difficult to vote. I thought I would see if you could make it a bit easier for people as there may be some people out there who had the same trouble as me. After clicking on the link the pie chart will appear, when it does, just above this, click on your view and then on the right hand side click ‘who will win the prem’. The rest is self explanatory but I thought this might help boost our percentage as its only 8.8% at the minute. You never know it maybe because people couldn’t find where to vote. Thanks blue kipper. The Dark Side

With the current debate about both of our clubs relocating to new grounds I thought I would share with you a tale passed down for 5 generations now, by a great old character I knew called Tom. In his youth Tom, although a great Evertonian ,was employed by Liverpool Football Club as a general handyman around the Anfield ground, this was around the time the club were really struggling and Bill Shankly had just been appointed manager. The club were desperate to achieve a similar status as their more illustrious neighbours Everton, and it seems would do almost anything to achieve this

The first thing to do was to try and improve the antiquated stadium, so plans were drawn up and the main stand was selected for an overhaul , Tom was privvy to all the investigations and he was as shocked as anyone to discover that underneath the main stand was a perfectly built tunnel with fresh running water, further investigations showed that the exit of the tunnel came out in Stanley Park on a small island near the boat lake.
Internal investigations ( never revealed to the public) revealed that two of the directors were involved in the practice of Devil worshipping and that the tunnel was used as an access to worship underneath Anfield by this Satanic group.

Tom and the rest of the staff were sworn to secrecy, and actually threatened physically if this was made public, since poor old Tom has lately passed on I feel it is my duty to reveal everything he told me that happened after that discovery. After their initial shock of the discovery of Devil worshipping at their ground had blown over, the directors summoned the two guilty men to a meeting initially to discipline them, but after listening to their stories the board incredibly seen a way out of their financial problems by accepting an offer from the devil worshippers proposing that if the board of Liverpool Football Club agreed to several conditions, the Satanic Group would guarantee success and wealth for the Club for the next forty years.

The first condition was that the team would in future only play in blood red kit at Anfield, everything, socks shorts and shirts, in honour of Lucifer himself. The second and most sinister condition was that no employee of Liverpool Football Club from directors down to cleaning ladies would ever, under any circumstance admit that they were at fault for anything, apologise for anything, or give praise to anyone else but their own club, which they preach are all signs of weakness, so in the process strengthening the preaching of the Devil himself. They were also told to reach out to all cultures and creeds across the world and attract them to Anfield in preparation for grooming into their satanic culture. In return for complying with these conditions a satanic spell would also be cast over near neighbours Everton ensuring no good look whatsoever would come their way.

The reason I bring this to light is that the Forty years are up on the Liverpool deal and , and with them moving to Stanley Park to their new stadium and being nearer than ever to their dark past, will a new deal be struck? Anyway I couldn’t finish without thanking old Tom Pepper for passing this information on and a least give us Evertonians some hope for the future, and maybe a reason as to why we have been so unlucky for the past 40 years. FK. KNOTTY ASH. (09/08/07)

Leighton Baines

Well done! Baines is a fantastic long term, Quality signing, who will give a good balance to our team and free up Roger to play in his preferred position in a solid looking back four! A midfielder and striker would give us strength in depth, and competition for places, then its onward and upward. Well done Corrie and Bully for backing the manager! Mal (trueblue).....but not holdings! (08/08/07)

Everton Poems

C'mon you Blues how's about a poem for Liverpool poem800.com are trying to collect 800 poems about LIverpool for her birthday on 28th. Reds have put theirs up how about some blues!? go to www.poem800.com Liz Wimbridge. (08/08/07)

Transfers

Can someone please tell me, Why Moyesy is offering cash plus players to other clubs ? I mean our squad is probably one of the smallest in the league at the moment. He an Bill must have something in the pipeline if were wiling to sell Beattie and offer such deals to the likes of Wigan for Baines. I was looking forward to the new season but I think were gonna struggle. I hope I'm totally wrong. James Mckenna (Huyton Blue). (08/08/07)

David Moyes what a star in LA!

So I live in Santa Monica in L.A. and frequent "The Cock N Bull Pub",(Dave the bar man is a top Blue!), where someone was telling us a story about how 150 L.A. Evertonians managed to see the blues training when they were over here.

Apparently a very keen blue was in the pub a bit half cut and he phoned the hotel where the team were staying and asked to be put through to David Moyes' room, he left a message on the voicemail, saying he was a mad blue, can't believe my team is in town, here's my phone number - call me back etc etc.

Two hours later his mobile rings,( he's still in the pub and he's even more blathered now) and it's Moyesy! He said the training is sort of 'behind closed doors' but please come along and watch. So........he goes to watch but manages to take 150 of his closest Evertonian friends!!. Cherry Brain. (08/08/07)

Ezquerro

Don't get too excited I have watched him a number of times last season...He's not that good!! Vaughany. (08/08/07)

Partner For AJ Please

Alarm bells are ringing in my head at the moment.............. We sell Biffa.......I have no probs with that cos he was not Ronseal...(didn't do what it said on the tin), but was I alone in thinking that AJ struggled for goals after xmas?? We seem to be moving in the right direction as far as bolstering our defence and our midfield, but and this is a big but, what happens when AJ gets suspended or injured??? Are we to rely on that not happening till Vaughany is back??? Are we to rely on Big Vic? Big Vic is good......but he is still balancing on the edge of being a Sharpy or being a Cadamateri. I wish that we cud of snapped up Smudge but alas as we most of our targets.......the bloody skunks steam on in and derail us. I think we should look to places lower in the football food chain to try and find that bargain for buttons and i know that sounds easier to find than the lost ark, but we need to take action before the inevitable happens and we lose AJ to injury/suspension. One player i would consider is Dean Ashton or Robbie Keane.....and lets face it.....everyone is available at a price.... come on Bill and board.......lets get busy......and lets go places in europe!!! Alan. (08/08/07)

Madeline McCann

I'm an Evertonian, a scouser, a mum, who is currently helping out with an email group of concerned citizens - Helping To Find Madeleine - we're assisting the main McCann campaign basically covering areas which they don't have the means/time to cover and was wondering if you could help. This week will mark 100 days since little Madeleine, an evertonian, has gone missing. could you put a piece on your sight with a link to main McCann website www.findmadeleine.com

Basically europe wide advertising costs will soon diminish the funds already raised and as well as keeping Madeleine's profile in the public eye need to raise funds too. If every Evertonian was to donate a pound it would make a significant difference - and as everyone knows us Evertonians are genuine, generous and caring people. PLEASE HELP. Thanks. Helen Blakeman. (08/08/07)

What A Shambles

With one week to go to the start of the season our pitiful small squad from last year has got smaller. Now I'm happy we got rid of the dead wood and Jagielka and Pienaar are good signings but we are still, by my figures, 2 players less than last season and there is a small matter of a European Cup competition to consider. Ok Leighton Baines will be a good signing but haven't we got enough players at left back, ie Valente, Boyle and even Neville and Lescott can play there. Our more immediate need is a partner for AJ. Now David Moyes said that qualifying for Europe will make it easier to attract players, so where are they? We wont pay a token fee to Betis of Spain to get a decent international player in Vogel yet, we are rumoured, to have made an offer of £11 mil for an Argie player that no one knows. Who is kidding who? So when non European qualifiers like Bolton signs 9 players, Fulham 8, Man City 8, Newcastle and Portsmouth 6, well you can see where I'm coming from. We are being side tracked with the Stadium issue, the real issue is the lack of ambition of this club that I have supported for over 40 years. All this rubbish about paying over the odds for players, we are willing to pay £6 million for a full back but not for Nugent. Gary O'Connor£2.7 mil, Earnshaw £3.5 mil, Aliadiere £2 mil, Viduka free. That's just the strikers we missed. Bill Kenwright must stop treating this club as his plaything, he must sell the club to people who have financial muscle. Why is it that the likes of Villa, Portsmouth, West Ham, Man City can attract investment and we cant? This club is bigger than Kenwright if he loves this club like he says he does then he must let go, only then can we be treated seriously. WayneWales. (06/08/07)

Blood Pressure

I usually refrain from contributing these days in case I become too irate and my blood pressure rises well beyond my tender years but the Bill, Jon and Fat Boy PR roadshow appears to have cynically gathered pace and rode into town for the latest display of the current club custodians' rendition of 'Return to the Mushroom Principle, otherwise known as 'Everton fans are stupid, let us prove it,' previously written and performed by Messrs Hall and Shepherd of barcode fame.

A few years ago now, just as we were told that we would never sell the boy blunder, Bill and the lads allegedly put in a bid on one Alan Smith - you know the score, six million quid on the never never to be paid back by December 3254, together with an apple, an orange and a 4 pack of Special Brew. Apparently Smith was to play alongside Roon up front, in what could only be described as the best centre forward pairing in the club's long history (by the PR machine at least!). Or was it a cynical effort to make it look like the very words from Blue Bill's mouth (over my dead body will Rooney leave Everton) were evidently true, or was it a cover for the FACT that the then wonderkid, was much closer to the door than we ever felt possible and thus cover Kenwright's embarrassment over his imminent sale?

Bill is undoubtedly one of the truest Blues any of us are ever likely to come across. He really has, as far as he's able, put his money where is mouth is, far more than most of us will ever be in a position to do. Jon Woods is also a very loyal fan and I've had the pleasure to see this first hand over the years. I'm sure Bully's very good at his job too but at the end of the day, he has no allegiance to Everton other than the huge salary he draws each month and therefore some of the things he says or indeed orchestrates lead me to believe he may not be being entirely truthful all of the time. I think that's fair comment...

Then comes the Tesco situation. Terry Leahy seems to have put his John Thomas as far into the lion's mouth as possible, to provide a balanced assistance to the club he has supported since he was a lad and something which is a combination of being commercially acceptable to the Tesco board and financially viable for Everton FC to embrace. Bully sits on high and tells us there's no Plan B. Why is that Bully? What do you get paid £800k a year for? Surely there must be other offers? The stadium at the Kings' Dock is looking fantastic - shame on you, Everton.

I reserve judgement of Mr Bradley - I feel he has to put the people of Liverpool first and rightly so. And whilst my own opinion is that we will have to move away from Goodison as soon as possible (and yes I saw the KEIOC proposals - they don't seem to add up somehow, they're only outlines, there isn't any substance yet) in order to compete, I'm not convinced by what's currently held up as an alternative.

I was convinced about the move to Kirby though, up until yesterday teatime that is. After all, when was the last time someone accused a lad from Kirby of not being a scouser, so I thought to myself put your faith in them Dave.

Moysey's undoubtedly the man to lead us (and he will be for some time to come - I think he's a fantastic manager on balance and has never given me cause to question his position as the top man in EFC, that's a decision Bill can rightly hold his head up over) and give the board another chance. I know they're hard up, I know they generate as much money as they can every close season. I know this close season, clubs have been paying massively over the odds for average players. I also know that we couldn't predict the early loss of Cahill and Vaughan and thought we might have bid on another striker once Beattie took the poison chalice of the Championship. I also know that, whilst it really peeves me that despite being told that the club, by Moyesy in fact, would keep the fans in the loop all the time in any transfer dealings, that the reason that they never keep us in the loop, is because of the delicate negotiations that take place in transfers, especially where the apple, orange and special brew come into play.

Then yesterday, after indicating that we had about 6 mil left, we generate 4 off the sale of Beatts and all of a sudden, not only are we bidding on Leighton Baines for 6mil but an £11mn bid goes in for the Porto midfielder Lucho Gonzaléz. Is this the Alan Smith card? I'm afraid I think it is.

The Gonzaléz approach/bid could be one of the following three:

1. Showing Benfica that we won't pay what they ask for Fernandes and that we're willing to buy someone else if they don't play ball at the right money..
2. It could be a way of showing the fans that really we're bidding along with everyone else to get the best (The Alan Smith card) despite the fact that he's unlikely to sign for us or indeed give up the sunshine of Porto for the rain of North West England and running the gauntlet of having your house broken into by RS or worse still abused by our friendly Manchester neighbours.
3. It could be a nonsense bid on a player who is destined for Juvé's books, cynically designed to be released just before the voting papers go out on the Kirby stadium bid. The old Bill, Jon and Fat Boy PR roadshow rides again!

There is a 4th one and that is that we've waited all close season, well into pre-season to find another 7mn, in addition to Beattie's 4mn to bid on Gonzalez, but I'm sorry I just can't see it. I'm sorry fellas, you just don't bear that kind of trust anymore.

Point 1, I can certainly understand, point 4 is dreamland and 2 & 3 I've got a real problem with and for this reason, where I was voting for the move last week, I'm voting against it this week. I believe we need to move away from Goodison but the conspiracy theorist in me says that I can't trust a word uttered from the mouths of Bully or Bill again. They've lost my trust and goodness knows how many thousand others.

We're not stupid Gentlemen, stop treating us as such. Using your own words 'You're only custodians.' If there's no Plan B, maybe it's time for your tenure to end. Maybe, just maybe, someones position is untenable? Optimistic as usual, C'mon you Blues! Dave Noble - (05/08/07)

A couple of questions:

Everton have offered £5.2million for Wigan Athletic’s Leighton Baines. Newcastle offer £6 million.... Sunderland offered £6 million, and baines said no, A couple of questions: WHY would Everton offer less for a player that we desperately need? And why was`nt that money used for the likes of Smith, Nugent, Richardson just to name a few of the players that wanted to come to Everton? What club in their right mind would let a player go for less if they have been offered more.. So many players want to come to Everton, but the transfare fee was always less than others have offered.. To hell with the new ground lets put a squad together first.. R.Styles. Kirkdale. (04/08/07)

Worried

Having heard we have missed out on alan smith i cant help but being worried about a strike force. Vaughan is out for 4 months and Beattie has gone. that means were left with aj and anichebe who i don't rate personally and mcfadden who is shite. We all know moyes is obviously keen on baines a left back and i don't thing that's a position were we need a 6 million plus player. Surely the sell of beattie is going to fund money for a striker not a left back! but what decent premiership strikers are up for grabs! Adam. (04/08/07)

Ah Well

Just got back from the Palace game and I have to say that I have yet to see a bigger pile of shite from an Everton side. It even subdued the traveling fans. If as Irvine says everybody is playing for their place in the opening fixture of the season could he please elucidate on who is going to replace Jagielka, Valente and Anichebe. As soon as Arteta went off the whole thing fell apart. Jagielka, "Mr. Versatile", looked poor in midfield and marginally worse at right back. Victor Anichebe looked a shadow of the player he was last season. And Valente well......... My only consolation is that Moyes is allegedly lining up a bid for an Argentinian midfielder. As long as Newcastle don`t find out about it we may well get him ! But then again £10m ? I suspect not. I do hope that I am very wrong about this. It looks like a long hard season for the mighty Blues if today is anything to go by. A £20.00 lighter, and begrudging every penny, Blue. P.S. I am aware that this was a pre-season friendly but things did not look too good. John. (04/08/07)

£10m Gonzales

I SEE THAT WE HAVE TABLED A £10M BID FOR GONZALES. SO I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIM MAKE HIS NEWCASTLE DEBUT NEXT WEEK ALONG SIDE SMITH ,BAINES, BARTON, EMRE AND OWEN!! FOR FUCKS SAKE EVERTON. WILL WE EVER LEARN OUR LESSON? WE HAD ONE OF THE SMALLEST SQUADS LAST SEASON AND NOW WITH THE DEPARTURES WE HAVE EVEN LESS PLAYERS. SO CONSIDERING THAT WE CANT DO ANY WORSE IN THE CUP COMPETITIONS, THAT LEAVES US WITH THE LEAGUE TO CONCENTRATE ON. THE TEAMS AROUND AND BELOW US HAVE ALL IMPROVED THEIR SQUADS SO FOR ME IT LOOKS LIKE BEING ANOTHER POOR SEASON TO CONTINUE MOYES TREND. SORRY TO BE SO PESSEMISTIC ON THE EVE OF THE SEASON BUT I'M SICK OF READING NEWSPAPERS, WEB PAGES AND WATCHING SKY ONLY TO FIND THAT WE HAVENT SIGNED ANYONE AGAIN. STEVEPARKEND. (04/08/07)

Go Now

The record of Bullshit Bill is appalling, other than the appointment of DM. Firstly the spend ; during his tenure Everton have spent 8 million pounds net on transfers. Secondly the catalogue of lies and deceptions; NTL, Kings Dock, Samuelson , Rooney transfer. Thirdly, the move from Everton's spiritual home without providing a written prospectus and report for the fans just a few half cocked interviews with the on-side local media. Fourthly, the preparation for this season. Where are the new faces? The team is crying out for (a) Manny Fernandes in midfield. Go now. Mike. (04/08/07)

Absolute Shite!!

What else can you say?...some may call it Moyes displaying an astute business sense by not squandering his money on players that we really do need!! I mean we've got such a huge squad, surely we won't be put out of our stride should, heaven forbid, we suffer injuries to key players...arf arf! Bye Smudger, bye Mr Braaten, bye Nugent, bye Koumas..etc, etc, etc... This club is just so piss poor its untrue, thankfully there are more and more supporters who have, for want of a better phrase, "SEEN THEIR RESPECTIVE ARSES WITH THE CLUB AND ITS BOLLOCKS OF AN EXCUSE IN TRYING TO SIGN PLAYERS!" The old 'in Moyes we trust' brigade appear to have vanished and those that do spout off really do need to stick their fingers in the plug and wake up...this season will implode within the first few weeks...the reason is obvious. But then again this could be a bad dream and that Blue Bill and Friar Tuck have actually given Ginger boy a transfer pot of zillions, that Moyesy is about to buy Adriano, Kaka, Totti, Raul...oh what was that...a pink pig just flew past my window! Everton board/management just a bunch of outright liars! Bugs. (04/08/07)

A Worry

Hi to all at the best Evertonian website. I am not sleeping very well at the moment and it all because of what isn't happening at our club at the moment. It is well documented that we have missed out on signing players this summer. What is very disturbing is that some of these players wanted to play for us and were willing to wait for us to come and get them. However, we all know what happened to Nugent, Barton, and now Smith. I really have to say this and this might be nasty but, MR BILL KENWRIGHT, PLEASE GO AND LET SOMEONE ELSE TIDY UP THE MESS YOU AND YOUR ASSOCIATES ARE GOING TO LEAVE AT THE END OF THIS SEASON. GO NOW BEFORE THIS BLOWS UP IN YOUR FACE. P.S. PLEASE SWITCH THE LIGHT OFF WHEN YOU LEAVE. I am so concerned at the lack of investment in the team this close season that i can't begin to even envisage life in the championship league. Are we the next Notts Forest or Sheffield Weds??? I really hope not BUT that's all i can see now. Are we really that skint that we can't compete with Notlob or Brum for players? Even Fulham have been signing players.
REMEMBER THIS. 2007/08 Everton F.C. relegated.

Bill please act now to prevent this. Like i said in my previous e mails........ fuck the stadium off and get the team sorted first. And when we are a regular in europe.......lets talk about the move again. Agent Johnson is gonna seem like a mate compared to what you and your stingy bastard mates are like. Alan Withe. (04/08/07)

Back Moyes

I have just read Martin Browns vies and I have to admit I agree with a lot he has to say..... a lot of these players who "want to sign for us soon change their tune when they are offered more money by another club ( reminds me of a certain young player who proudly displayed his t-shirt on which he had written "once ablue always a blue" only to leave us for a huge paypacket from manure at the first opportunity) . yes Moyes is the best manager we have had since Kendall, and if he can bring us some of the success that Kendall brought us , nobody will be complaining then will they I too hope Mr Brown is right about the board ! someone somewhere must have enquired about buying us, (but then they have probablly looked at the stadium we have and realised just how much of their investment would be taken up in replacing / refurbishing it and changed their minds). One other point also ............... when Everton initially moved to Goodison park wasn't that area also "out of the city boundary" ? Times change and so do boundaries, if we have found an investor to build us a new stadium and Bill and his gang have brought down our debt over the past few years then why NOT move to Kirkby ! are we to believe that fans who will travel to london to watch an away game are not prepared to travel to kirkby for a home game ? If that is the case then they are not EVERTON FANS because a true blue would travel anywhere to watch them play. Dave blue since birth. (04/08/07)

Bad Summer

Smith to Newcastle, Braaten to Bolton, Baines now being tipped to join Newcastle ahead of us – its time Blue Bill left and we got someone in who can actually run a football club. Its ridiculous and its getting worse every day. I don’t blame Moyes – he’s probably as quietly frustrated as any of us. But I do blame the board and their pipe dreams. All together now…….. small club in Kirkby, we’re just a small club in Kirkby………..GO NOW KENWRIGHT!!! Bill Davies. (04/08/07)

Another Player Missed

So once again it happens. Everton miss out on Alan Smith to the barcodes and big Sam. How many more are we going to lose out on? Have we got Fernandez back on loan......NO, Koumas, Richardson, Nugent, Vogel, Baines (admittedly not yet but ominous silence says it all). You can all go on about the new ground location but we forget we need players to be on the pitch especially with Vaughany and Tiny Tim both out and Moyesy trying to hawk Biffa, Faddy, Carsley and Shandy out to anyone with a few bob. He should keep Biffa and all the above players especially now as we have what I envisage to be a very brief excursion into the UEFA cup. Come on Blue Bill, get your hands in your pockets and back Moyesy. Karl Runcorn Blue. (04/08/07)

Enough is Enough

A summer that started full of optimism is evaporating quicker than the centre of Tewkesbury. Why oh why does everything that the current Board do end up turning into a total shambles!!!!! Firstly we have the Riquelme Internet gaff. Now I know the club tried to shift the blame on this one, but please.... this was laughable and again made us look like we are, which is shoddy.

Secondly is the lack of signings!!!!! Now I know we have spent £4m of Jagielka, (had to laugh in the Echo earlier this week when it said, there would be a home debut for Everton's big summer buy!!!! - they taking the mick) and also brought the South African lad in on loan.... but is that it???? Where is the £30m Sky money, the Rooney money for utd winning the League and also the £4 or £5M that Moyes never spent last January and raised from the sales of Kilbane, Davies and Naysmith. Is it that he has spent that lot on the contract extensions or did Per Kroldrup really go for next to f... all, which was largely reported.

Finally and most controversially is the Ballot / Stadium move. Now please can someone tell me which other club would ballot a selection of it's own fan base on it's own future???. Message to Bill and Ken (sorry Keith buy Ken suits you better in these circumstances).... You are paid to run this great Club of ours......now do it and if the move to Kirkby is a 'no brainer' then sod the EIOC brigade and get on with it. Believe me the only ones who wont come with you are those supposed diehards who want to sit in a decrepit old shed of a stadium (though it will always be a Cathedral in my heart), drink in the boozer till 5 to 3 and then come barging in with a funny fag in one hand and curry and chips in the other, abusing any black player (usually on both sides) on the pitch and moaning about how shite Carsley, Neville, Valente etc are.

I am sorry but enough is enough, Everton were once regarded as an innovative leading light in British football, now we are falling behinds the likes of Fulham, Sunderland and Wigan. Cheers. Harvey Cullen. (04/08/07)

Royle Or Moyes

So David Moyes is the best manager Martin Brown. (03/08/07). we’ve had since Kendall? What about Joe Royle who actually won something and played with a bit of flair and adventure. Remember that Moyes is the man who took our limited funds and spent them on Biffa (£8M), and made a net £2M loss on a centre half who couldn’t even play football and who’s name I can't even remember, bought Neville for £3M and made him the worst captain in our history and spends so much time dithering and talking about who he is going to buy that they have all been sold before we get round to it. In addition he has almost had us relegated twice. Brian (04/08/07)

Bad Day

Tim Cahill has knackered his foot again. My reaction? "NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!" Alan Smith is going to Newcastle. My reaction? "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!"
Yesterday was a bad day. Spencer Bishop. (04/08/07)

No Transfers

Lads, the new season is a week away and still no transfer activity. If we sell Biffa at 4m, buy Baines & Smith for 12m that's only 8m spent, great business for those two players. I hope Moyes has a plan, maybe he knows something we don't?!? When the pie eaters and Cottagers are spending more than your club you begin to worry. Although watching an entirely new Shitteeh team trying to gel under the guidance of Sven will, i'm sure, be hilarious next season. Cheers. PC. (04/08/07)

Away Kit

Well, not an ounce of Royal Blue in the away kit, what a pity, we look like Bolton or Fulham, may be Spurs I don’t like it where is the Blue of Everton, why not Blue shorts Blue socks or Yellow top Blue shorts Blue socks, Black and White this kit is excuse my French SHITE. Very disappointed Blue, boy keep the faith. JPB. (04/08/07)

Supporters Questionnaire

I am a postgraduate student in Psychology at the University of Sunderland with a research interest in football & football supporters. I am contacting you for assistance with a research project. The proposed study will determine what, if any, relationship exists between individual characteristics, identification with the football team and past football related behaviours. Thank you. Colin. (04/08/07)

Sinking Fast

Sorry to keep bombarding you with letters but I am very quickly sinking into the depths of depression. We were promised some money by the Chairman to compete in the transfer market when the window opened. All of a sudden this money does not seem to be forthcoming as Moyesy is scrabbling around with free transfers and loan signings. Being the cynic that I am I suspect that Kenwright has earmarked the TV money to pay off the stadium move. In the meantime we are going into a new season with one less player than we finished last season with. Three out but just two in ? So far anyway. There are teams all over the country spending like there is no tomorrow and we have managed to buy just Jagielka and loan Pienaar. What is going on ? The contrast between the end of this season and the end of last season is doing my brain in. We have qualified for Europe and look as if we have no intention whatsoever of adding to the squad ! We have been linked to several players, most of whom have gone elsewhere, but not actually done anything about it. Under these circumstances I could not possibly blame the Manager if he decided to call it a day. I am not his greatest fan but I think he has had to put up with an awful lot from BK and KW particularly when it comes to money for players. Just to add insult to injury the team who I have followed for almost 50 years is almost certainly going to move out of Liverpool. It beggars belief !! And the shite across the way are about to start building their new state of the art stadium in Stanley Park. Somebody please pass the vallium ! A not very happy Blue. John. (04/08/07)
