Inept Performance

Just to say, in all my 20+ years of being a blue, that was the most inept performance I have seen from Everton. If we play like that at Villa we are in the S**t big style. C`mon Moyesy sort it out. Steve, Essex Blue. (22/09/07)

Tactics

It was a tactical fuck up against 11, 10 then 9 , but there's still a chance. Get the Grav ( who should deffo be bought in January), plus Mikel fit and you never know. Pienaar should play, he's pacy and class. Jags at right back and drop Hibbert. The number of passes that boy misdirected. Cars and Nev should be one or the other. There's no pont in 2 defensive midfielders. It was mostly long ball and we failed to exploit the wings by and large specially when the red cards were pulled.

Deja vue with Yak going on about how many goals he's going to score ( a la Biffa), and all that shit about 22, he should have taken the no 9 and proudly. Anichebe and Vaughan ( God speed his return), both knock spots off him. AJ seems to be shot to pieces and maybe we should offload in Jan. Faddy.....why can't he reproduce his Scotland form? Geoff. (22/09/07)

Weakest Links

Couldn't agree more with the comments on Hibbert, Neville and Cars. If Moyes has to play Neville it should be at right back - 1 good game in
midfield for Manure against Arse a few years back does not make a midfield general which is what we are missing. I was at the game on Saturday and watched on the telly, his passing was ridiculously bad in both games - thought he had a red shirt on at the weekend. Cars is definitely struggling to get around the pitch as much as previous seasons, really starting to show his age. Tiny and Jags should be the long term partnership. Hibbert would be lucky to get a game for the reserves - look at the difference Baines has made, he looks like a world beater. Even switching Jags to full back to give him some more game time would do - he looked impressive for Sheff U there last season.

I'm not surprised about the performance last night. If Arteta is either playing poorly, closed out of the game, or just not playing due to injury, we seem to have no ideas at all - hoof it up to the front men who are 5ft nothing and try to pick up the scraps. Brio and Vidic just lapped it all up on Saturday and last night was the same. Moyes, stick to what you know - 442 with quick slick passing or 451 with Tiny bursting from deep when he's available. Tactics last night were just plain embarrassing.NMC. (22/09/07)

Don't Blame Moyes

I am a Southern Toffee of 23 years and I only watched the creaking coverage on Channel 5. But as soon as I heard about the delay I was cringing. Remember in pre-season away at Selhurst Palace when we were all bemoaning the inept organisation of the ticket allocation to away fans? Many blues were very disparaging about the First Division club's infrastructure but last night was in a similar vein but on a larger scale. It makes me shudder to hear that kids were getting crushed outside. Everton FC have known about this fixture for weeks. They've known we'd be doing business in Europe for months. Yet while the likes of Spurs kicked off on time, our club looked like amateurs.

Secondly, I think it's hard to lay the blame at Moyesy's door in regards to the lack of quality midfielders and spending the money we allegedly had in the bank. Unlike the quick, decisive summer business of 2006, this time had echoes of 2005 when the board clearly didn't back Moyes enough so he had to duck and dive in the market picking up Shandy, Ferrari and Valente. I am convinced we have strengthened the squad in terms of quality man for man. But not quantity sadly. Baines was a breath of fresh air at times last night. He could be a great Toffee and there were shades of Andy Hinchcliffe. Jags is better than Carsley and Hibbert (presumably he is the long term replacement for one of them) and Wessels looks a darn sight lot more reliable than Wright. I think the board were on a PR mission to secure the vote to move hence all the late talk of getting in the likes of Lucho from Porto. I bet they were secretly relieved when Fernandes did his U-turn. The board didn't back Moyes enough and didn't get him the funds quickly enough. The purchase of Yakubu was last gasp after Beattie left and Vaughan got injured. On paper it looked dodgy. On the pitch last night he was depressingly immobile and lacking real desire.

Even from my front room it seemed eerily quiet by the half hour mark as I could pick out lone shouts from the crowd. I think it was nerves. The
European nightmare of two seasons ago and it's aftermath has cast a long shadow over the psyche of the club. But let's not have a go at Moyes. His line up last night was do or die. People always snipe at his 4-5-1 and when he goes attacking we all slate him for it when his objective was to put the tie beyond Metalist.

I knew someone would have to have a great night with the defensive midfield out there. McFadden looked most likely and his cross for the goal was quality but he was out of position. He's not a winger. He needs to sit in the hole behind the strikers or be up there himself. Ossie was constantly outnumbered and outpaced in the centre. He's too lightweight to be playing in the middle. I don't think we can hide behind the injuries excuse too much but the lack of Pienaar (a player with European pedigree) Gravesen (Denmark's seasoned campaigner) and playmaker Arteta did deprive us of variety.

But finally I have thought long and hard about Neville. He is a model professional. But every time he got near the ball I was either anxious or angry. Formerly because I feared a foul would be conceded and latterly because I knew a scattergun long ball was about to be hoisted into the box. Is it me or didn't Rideout and Ferguson stop playing as a partnership in the 90's? He is the captain. He is the on field leader. Think of our loathed rivals in the 2005 final when Gerard led the comeback and psyched everyone around him up. Neville doesn't possess the skills nor ability to drive us forward like Gerard but he could pump everyone else up with a bit of air punching, defiance and shouting. I saw none of that. He should never have let Johnson take the final penalty. I would have put my life on him missing, so brittle is his confidence after cruel fate robbed him after his excellent first attempt. I would like to think if Stubbs or Gravesen would have been present then maybe they would have done the deed instead.

Please let's not attack Moyesy or call for his head. We have been on an upward trajectory since he took over. Smith (with his lack of discipline,
one season wonder flair players and ability to concede last minute goals) never managed to finish in the top half. DM has done it thrice. People go on about wanting someone else to take us to the next step. That's rubbish. Who else can we entice who would put up with our board and lack of funds who is really good enough to mastermind regular top half finishes? The only thing that will help us make the next step is money, pure and simple.

Be optimistic Evertonians. We have an ace youth system. Anichebe proved that, Vaughan is amazing. When they're all fit, we can go on a run in the Premiership. Let's be honest, going out of the UEFA early is not the end of the world. The whinging I've heard on the boards and on this site annoys me. We're Everton, not overblown Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd fans I have to suffer down South. Those who know nothing about their team's tactics, history or structure and just live vicariously through their adopted team. We're Everton fans, we are passionate, we're a family. Nil Satis nisi optimum - that applies to the fans as well. Let's not get silly and lose sight of what Moyes has done for us and the ten year plan. Andrew James. (22/09/07)

Metalist Draw

Well penalties aside what's going on here? Sorry moyesy, you and that excuse of an assistant coach have got it badly wrong again. The biggest game since the 95 cup final and you blew it. How long is the loyalty to the Carsley's, Hibbert's and Osman's going to last? These are squad players only, Hibbert can't cross himself and Carsley's pointing at the ground behind him as got me worried about his state of mind. The saddest and most worrying thing of all was the sight of a great young talent coming on and showing our record signing what playing for the blues is all about. Ok people will say that injuries forced his hand, but here's the solution jagielka/hibbert......grav/carsley......piennar/osman +mikky back sunday 3 points at the villa. P.S take that armband of the manc. Raymond Liderth. (22/09/07)

European Tour Your Having A Laugh

Just wanted to throw the boot in after last nights let down. To be honest did we actually believe we would win 5-0 and have it plane sailing into the next round!! Were Everton and life is never easy.

First off all the thing that really bugged me last night was the crowd, what a poor shambles it was and I ain't talking bout the ticket fiasco. I even said weeks ago I bet the club screw up with the tickets thinking back to the champions league game a few years ago. I sat in the lower street end but not in my normal seat and straight from the off all I heard was a bunch off wanna be managers who just seemed to want to have a go at the players. That's the problem with there cheap ticket cup games all the hangers on turn up and sing stand up if you love the blues and think there fans. I sat here through Mike Walker and Walter Smith I doubt any of you lot did. When things got tough on the pitch I always expect our fans to stat singing and backing the team but last night most of the hangers on wanted to show what great fans they were by slinging abuse at the team and then just sit in silence.

Don't get me wrong I was just as frustrated at the performance as any one. It's been a long time since I left Goodison empty and feeling so angry at the players and manager that I vowed enough was enough (the cup defeat to the mighty Tranmere was the last time). Metalist came with a game plan we all knew they would sit back, kick lumps out of Everton and hit us on the counter. I have never watched them before or seen tapes of them like Moyes but that's what I would expect from any small European team coming away from home for the first leg. As soon as they ran out I said to the fella next to me "Size of them" as they were huge Ukrainian Ice farmers. "Long ball no good today" my new friend suggested. So in two minutes me and the fella next to me sussed the classy Ukraines out something Moyes didn't do in a trip to the Ukraine and God knows how many tapes.

From the off the blues confused me more then ever, were we playing 442 or 433 or even 4312? Osman and McFadden didn't know where the F**k they were playing. Neville and Carsley were so close to each other they could of held hands all game. It looked like (I may be wrong here) that we were going to use Hibbert and Baines as they players to move the ball forward. Baines looked good for the first twenty but every time he burst down the left he looked up but found no left winger in front to support. Instead he seen Yakubu walking towards him with the look of "don't pass to me I cant be arsed".

Poor Tony Hibbert, we all know he can't pass water but he never goes missing and always looks to be given the ball. He's got no pace or skill like Baines so running forward is out. When old Tony gets the ball there was no Arteta last night to take the ball off him only Carsley and Neville in the middle holding hands. So what option has he got? Launch it forward or pass it back to Lescott or Yobo for them to Launch it forward. Hibbert is limited so you expect some one like Osman to do what Arteta does week in and week out go across and take it of him. So get off his back he knows he can't pass but Moyes thinks he can and instructs the team to play through him at times. Not Hibbert's fault but the managers.

Neville is poor and I mean very poor. I truly believe were the only team in the Premier league were your captain is your worse player. Cant pass, tackle or shoot. I could pull on the shirt and a armband and run around and clap and shout. Don't mean I am a good player. I could also get years of experience sitting on Man Utd's bench. In other words thanks Phil but your just not good enough.

James McFadden is useless and I have never rated him, likes the ball at his feet and just wants to run with his head down and missed the easy pass, pull on a Scotland shirt and he's Adriano. Was useless last night but might have done a better job on the left of midfield with Ossie on the right.

The main problem last night was the midfield, we missed Arteta and Tommy Grav but we had Ossie and Jimmy Mc who could have ran the game from the wings. Jags should of played with Carsley in the middle. We could of attacked them down the wings and had Aj and Baka I mean Yak pulling out wide to pick up the ball and cut inside. Yes they sat back but we played in to there hands by lumping the ball up front and by passing our poor midfield.

That's how I seen it and maybe totality wrong but if I can come up with a game plan without UEFA Coaching badges just many hours on Football Manager then why can't our ginger hero? He's blamed lack of midfielders over last night. It was only the other week at Bolton were he was celebrating his super in depth squad. You had the players Moyes but not the tactics. Glad that's off my chest. Stephen Whelan. (22/09/07)

Everton v Metalists

You can say the referee was bad, but at the end of the day we were not good enough last night. I think from the start we were very nervous, especially after 2years ago. But we just looked like a bad side. It's annoying because whenever were on the tele people who watch must think
were crap, but were not as bad as that last night. Lets face it we didn't have much of a midfield from the start Carsley and Neville both defensive midfielder's and Osman kind of an attacking midfielder with McFadden running around when he loses the ball. I don't mean to slag us off but we were awful last night. When I was reading the report on the bbc website the 1st thing it said was AJ missed 2 penalties. It should have said Everton robbed by referee of penalty. Fair enough he should not have took the 2nd pen, Anichebe should. But to be honest AJ ran his socks off like he always does. It's hard to blame individuals, but lets face it if Yakubu doesn't pull his finger out it wont be long before he starts getting boooed. Absolute crap, 11 million. I wouldn't of taken him on a free after his last 2 performances.

It's amazing how much we missed Arteta last night, we were awful. Lets hope we can go to the Ukraine and get a result Also i am fed up of this thing we keep doing were the ball is in the air and we just keep trying to keep it up there. It's crap and we need to sort it out, get the ball on the deck and pass it around. Hibbert should not be allowed past the half way line. He can defend, but he can't do much else. Phil Neville should be banned from doing long slow motion passes that the opposition have all the time in the world to win. COYB! Maybe we could scrap Hibbert and have Neville as a right back. Also I reckon McFadden must be Moyes love child. Even though AJ missed the pens, I love someone who gives 100% and he does each game. It's not his fault he finds himself out wide. Baines needs to stay on the pitch, he was so far wide last night, each pass
to him was going out. Carsley may as well of not started last night. Lescott good as usual, a few bad passes but goal cancels them out for me.
ok that's enough rambling from me. Nicky. (21/09/07)

Tictacs

Let’s assume that that the coaching staff did their homework well and spotted that, unsurprisingly, the Ukrainians played a pretty effective 5 3 2.

There are ways to play 4 4 2 effectively against this that would depend upon being able to field central midfield players who were more creative than those we had available last night and who get into the D and the box when the central strikers pulled wide. We didn’t have those available last night. We could have reverted to something we know well, 4 5 1; there would be a risk of stalemate but we know how to do this and do it well.

It might be thought brave to go for 4 3 3 but even that WITH PLAYERS WHO KNEW WHERE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE PLAYING AND WERE PREPARED TO STICK TO IT could have produced positive results without too much risk. What we had was a shapeless, poorly disciplined performance against a team who were exactly the opposite. This is nobody’s fault but the manager’s. He either gave McFadden and Osman the instructions to do as they liked, or he didn’t and they did anyway. Either way he carries the can.

There have been times in the past when I have questioned Moyes’ tactical nous. For example, along with everyone else I spoke to, the beef against Spurs at home last season was with the hopeless tactical approach from the outset, not the substitutions; these merely added insult to injury.

Last night Tony Hibbert saw more of the ball than anyone else on the field. When he looked to play it he saw empty spaces down the right side with nobody able to take a quick pass. His only option was long balls at AJ or Yakubu, into an area where there so many of the opposition that there wasn’t the slightest chance of making anything happen. I can’t blame the players for this, they played to orders. If they didn’t there’s no doubt the manager would have made his views clear, after all he is supposed to be a disciplinarian (?)

I have walked out at Goodison before the end once in over 40 years. That was a Mike Walker inspired team going through the motions in a tactical set-up they had no belief in. Last night would have been number two had my daughters not been in another part of the ground. Peter Lee. (21/09/07)

I can't believe it

What the Fuck was all that about ? The team were shite the fans were at a bloody funeral some bloke told me to keep the noise down. If that's Europe forget it. We should all be ashamed of ourselves not just the players but the fans as well and even the organisers who couldn't get the tickets out in time. We don't deserve it. Disgrace and a fucking embarrassment. Hopefully Moyes will see that on the re-run today and give them all the biggest kick up the ass because if he doesn't then he needs a good kick up the ass. Jose always said he liked Everton I wonder...... See you Sunday at Villa. Sean Whelan. (21/09/07)

Moyes

Walter's favourite word can only describe last night. As I said prior to the Utd game the next five games will define our whole season. Three more poor performances will see us exit two cups and be somewhere around mid table by the middle of October!!! Whilst being well aware of the wonderful job Moyes has done for the club, his loyalty to certain players is really starting to piss me off!!!! Quite frankly Neville, Carsley, and Osman are not of the standard required. Injuries aside, I would also have to question his transfer policy again. He has been after a quality central midfielder for over two years and yet he still hasn't got anyone yet he is willing to spend ridiculous money on a waster when we have Mcfadden and Anichebe who are capable of doing a job until Vaughan and Cahill return. Yakubu will prove an even bigger waste of money than Beattie. Not looking forward to the Villa game, sadly I think we will lose. Chin up Andy, the goals will come. Gutted Blue. (21/09/07)

What a bloomin' shambles!

Watched the UEFA game via Everton TV.... no commentary for the first 25 mins... I got used to it after a while but then in-kicked the sound from 5 Live and John Bloody Barnes's voice! I should have seen that as a bad omen but we looked pretty decent and deserved to go in 1-0 at Half Time... What happened lads? Nightmare i can tell you! We missed Arteta tonight big time! Ossie and Baines did well but AJ couldn't score in a brothel and The Yak was outclassed by Vic. If only the Grav had been fit! Having Phil Nev and Tony H in close proximity to each other isn't a good idea as both are our current weakest links in the side! I would have had Jags on from the start... Oh well... we were unlucky with the first penalty but we'll need to mature to get a result in Ukraine! Value for money as always. COYB. Allan (Amsterdam). (21/09/07)

Hang Their Heads In Shame

Couldn't put it any better than Paddock Boy, so won't witter on again except to say this: The whole setup totally lacked ambition and I'm still fuming that our 'great-on-paper' team couldn't step past a sub-premier standard team who only had 10, then 9 players on the pitch. The players that took to the field tonight and the manager should hang their heads in shame at that lack of desire display. The only exception in my opinion was Baines and possibly Anichebe. Yakubu, Ha! Not fit, or a can't be arsed waste of space. I'll go with the latter. Disgraceful display and should be refunded the ticket fee. Regards, David A. White. (21/09/07)

We Rely On Arteta Too Much

Last night showed how desperate we rely on Arteta and how much we need quality in the middle of the park. A lot of people are putting the pressure on the front two but you can only work with what you get, and the strikers got fuck all last night.

I think I can count on 1 hand the number of passes Phil Neville made to another blue shirt. Osman was pretty much out of the game, but showing some glimpses of quality but then letting himself down by trying to take on one more defender. Carsley just did his job of covering every blade of grass, but missing quality. Mcfadden was a let down, I thought he would have been chomping at the bit to get a start but looked very average (what position was he playing)?

I think Moyes made a bad decision to leave Jagielka on the bench. He's been the only one in recent weeks who would drop back and collect from the defenders to try and setup an attack. If we were that short in the middle why wasn't Da Silva brought back?

As for the ticket fiasco, Everton have blamed Royal Mail. Is it Royal Mails fault Everton sent me only 1 ticket instead of 2. Is it Royal Mails fault that most of the people in the cue were there because their ticket would not scan. I work for Royal Mail and it pisses me off when some firm comes up with the easy excuse. Everton have got a track record of letting us down as much off the field as on, this is just another problem caused by Everton FC.

If we can't sort out getting 35000 supporters in a stadium how will we get on in the new 50000 capacity stadium? We'll have to turn up at 10:00 for a 15:00 kick off. DANNY. (21/09/07)

Everton 1 Metalist 1

Watching last night's game against Metalist was like watching 11 undisciplined teenagers running around after a ball. Where's the direction with the team. I think Moyes has to step up to the plate and accept some responsibility for last nights fiasco. Neville, if he has to remain as part of the starting 11 has to revert back to right full and drop Hibbert to the bench. Yakubu played like an oap - has someone actually checked his birth certificate??? It looks like we may have bought another dud up front. At least Anichebe tries. I just hope Moyes finds his thinking cap before the return fixture and Arteta et al are back from the treatment room. Kenneth Crowley. (21/09/07)

What A Load Of Rubbish!

Total rubbish that’s what last night was!! Ignore the penalty decisions as this doesn’t change the fact that they we’re awful!! No passion from the players – this was our European Campaign. No passion from the fans – where was the singing and chants? We are not good enough for European football and on last night performance we aren’t fit for division 2! I didn’t expect to win the competition but I did expect more than was given last night! Jennie. (21/09/07)

Metalist Game

I totally agree with Paddock Boy, why the fuck is he putting Hibbert in right back? He leaves his man to run down the line, cant read a ball if it had writing on it and his crossing is Shite as well. Look at Bainesy, absolute legend in the making, runs his fucking socks off just like the majority of the boys in blue. Secondly this was the first game I got to see the Yak play, as games are hard to come by for me, what a waste of fucking money. He did not make 1 run he didn’t control the ball once he didn’t win 1 header and we bring on a 19 year old who cost us fuck all and he done more in the first 5 minutes of being on the pitch than Yak did his whole game. Other than that I thought we played well and it just was not our night. I do feel for AJ because after his superb strike that was disallowed he missed the second, ok bad luck. The third however you could see that he was not taking this to get first of the season he was doing it for the Goodison crowd and at the final whistle you could see the tears wanting to come out. AJ you’re still our GOD mate, they will come just keep your head up. As for us what could we have done, well the first 10 minutes was buzzing the crowd were up for it and so was the players but then we went quiet and so did the boys. What has happened to the atmosphere that we are known for around the world? Come on you blues and lets fucking get together and sort it. Blue Boy Dazza. (21/09/07)

Don't Blame The Ref

Paddock Boy’s got it spot on. Don’t blame the referee for last night’s display as we didn’t create anything apart from a few scrambles following knock downs in the box. But that isn’t surprising when the centre midfield ‘creators’ were Carsley & Neville. We could play 4 up front but it would make no difference if the only supply up to them is 40 yard balls from Phil Neville. With two in the middle you’ve surely got to have width – Baines played well in phases and Lescott tried to change the shape of the game but is he the player you need carrying the ball over ½ way to try and create something? And Hibbert? Absolutely terrible and completely out of his depth. Lets face it they out passed us and looked comfortable all night. Moyes set the team up wrong and he should take the criticism. Why play this new formation for the first time in such an important game? Bonkers. David G. (21/09/07)

Enough Is Enough

I will keep this short and simple! MOYES HAS GOT TO GO! I know I will be shot down for this, but last night's embarrassing performance was
plain and simple his fault! 20 million strike force playing on the wing! passed off the park by a bunch of no marks! its just not good enough to talk about good cup runs anymore! we need to actually do it! Laughing stock!!! Matt (long suffering season ticket holder lower Gwladys) (21/09/07)

Moyes Tactics

I am really disappointed with Everton's display tonight. Moyes's tactics have got to be questioned as we have no creativity for our forwards in
midfield. Anichebe is looking better than The Yak as he's a similar player but he plays with his heart and The Yak is a lazy bastard. Also whats going on with the crowd. We sang for 5mins then it went quiet. There wasn't much reaction from the team but we are not making our home advantage count! AND we need new songs, we have been singing the same songs for years!!!
K. Priest. Maghull. (21/09/07)

Ticketing Chaos

Fucking awful tonight at the ticket thing. There was thousands out the back. The police were telling everyone to push up and my little step daughter got crushed as well as a few other kids who looked terrified. Then they made us all stand against the Bullens road blocked the turnstiles which caused us all to get crushed. Loads of kids crying, then a police horse went mental and knocked over an old lady. I did not get in until 38 mins into the first half. They then opened the turnstiles to let everyone in to which there was a crush. Kids the lot. My daughter who is 8 - It was her first and she never wants to go again. Ther'e talking shite about royal mail. I ordered my tickets last week to which they said would be in the post. Never came and I rang and they said you can get them on the night. I said what about the post cost. They said we have known for a while we were never gona post them. Fuckin joke fella. Philly Morris. (21/09/07)

What the hell can you say?

Ah so the great blue adventure into Europe comes to an end before its even started eh? That has to be one of the most inept, lethargic, clueless and embarrassing performances I ever seen. Suddenly we have injuries galore to key players...you know?..the players that were going to take us through the dizzy heights of European football....and right before a crucial, yes crucial cup tie!! Shite I have to ask what the f'in ell goes on in training? Does the clueless ginger knob tell his squad to kick lumps out of each other?

That said me thinks that Moyes got his team selection wrong yet again...Jagielka on the bench! Carsley and Neville in midfield!! Three man attack!!!..correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Moyesy baby has tried that one this season....so why friggin start now? It should have 442 with Jags in midfield with McFaddy, Neville at right back and Hibbert in the bloody broom closet!! Yakubu looked and performed like he'd just taken a good dose of Nytol while Johnson was so bereft of confidence you could've placed an empty net in front of him and the ball would still travelling through the ether towards Southport!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again Moyes has a smaller squad than last season, he has bought poorly again, and by that I mean too little too late. One creative midfielder in Arteta is just piss poor...we needed tons more class in the team and the stop gaps of loan players like Pienaar and Gravs though adequate is just nowhere near enough. But that said it still raises the question of why, if we had that pot of money, did we not purchase early, increase the squad size with quality and be set up for the season ahead. If I was a member of that shambles of a team I would hang my head in shame...lads you really, REALLY were shite!! Yet again the reds will be laughing their bloody heads off at that abomination....So whats next?....oh yeah away trip to Kharkiv...Everton led by the master tactician...whats its going to be?......lets see....118..er 217....how about 325....oh I'm just so inspired by it all!! Can't wait for the transfer window in January..just to see who we aren't going to buy. Bugs. (21/09/07)

Moyes - Metalist

What the F-ck is Moyes playing at.........he buys a player for 11 million and takes him off after 60 mins, an incredible decision! Oh! and when is he going to get rid of that pathetic piece of S-it called Hibbert.......he can't pass....he can't tackle.....he can't mark.....F-ck him off! I feel sorry for AJ.......he doesn't get the service the way he should expect it......down the channels to feet NOT 10 feet in the air......we are ruining a good player! Moyes tactics are c-ap...and If we win in the Ukraine.......I will show my a-se in woolies windows! Mal(Trueblue)........but not holdings! (21/09/07)

ESSCA Flag

A few months ago you very kindly had on your website a plea from our supporters club, for information on a flag we lost at the Bournemouth friendly last season. The flag still hasn’t turned up – Bournemouth confirm it was not left at their ground – so I can only assume some must have picked it up and took home. We would like to take our flag to Europe this season, so all we can ask via your website is that who-ever has it now, could they please return it to my address – no questions asked. ESSCA, 10 Topaz Grove, Waterlooville, Hampshire, PO7 8ST Everton Forever. Eddie Harbour. (21/09/07)

Pienaar or Ossie

A couple of opinions i have regarding our midfield:

1. Now i haven't been to a game yet this season so i am happy to be corrected if i'm wrong here but shouldn't Pienaar be getting the nod ahead of Osman? I know a lot of fans think so and of what i've seen he has a lot more to offer than Ossie does, don't get me wrong i appreciate Osman works hard for the team and he can be an asset on his day but generally i don't honestly think he has enough about him, Pienaar looks a far better player technically though possibly a bit lightweight only time will tell there.

2. How much longer can DM leave Faddy out? The problem is where does he play him? because i don't think AJ should be dropped. Personally i'd like to see us try a 4-3-1-2 formation on thursday, whereby the midfield consists of Jagielka, Pienaar, Arteta, then McFadden playing behind the front two. I don't reckon we need two holding midfielders its too negative we need players who have flair in there and Faddy is a match winner at times so why not give him a go?

Despite all that i do think we are going in the right direction and as you said in your match report our performance was one to be proud of at the end of the day we were playing the champions. All the best fella's.Murray the mint. (21/09/07)

Man Utd Game

Sorry just need to get something off my chest. Just read the fucking sunday people and the dickhead that wrote the match report says Jagielka was out of his depth and had another stinker! I'm just not having it. He was twice better than Neville who they gave a higher score to. Wankers the lot of them the media. Stu Tagg. (16/09/07)

Tim Howard

I was just wondering how many games we actually agreed NOT to play Tim Howard against Man Utd. Moyes said on an interview last season That there was an agreement between the clubs but the Football league said that the clubs do not have and are not allowed any agreement regarding Tim Howard playing. WELL HE DIDN'T PLAY LAST TIME, AND HE DIDN'T PLAY THIS TIME, AND IF HE DOESNT PLAY NEXT TIME AT MANU UTD`S GROUND THEN I WILL BE MAKING CALLS TO THE PREMIER LEAGUE MYSELF. Stewards Enquiry Please!!!! Call yer self an Evertonian, Get on the phone and asked whats really going on. Richie. (15/09/07)

Great Dane

Wouldn't it be great to give the great dane a rendition of 'THERE IS NOTHING LIKE A DANE NOTHING IN THE WORLD' when he steps out at Goodison next week. Love to see that. Roy Hankin. (08/09/07)

Memorial For Rhys Jones

We have all been deeply touched by the recent events and sad loss of a bright young boy who only wanted to play football and be a child. Like so many of us the scenes at Goodison on Saturday were moving but also very sad and frustrating. We want to make things better but we cant. There are some things that are within our gift. The long awaited decision to move to a new stadium has been made for better or worse.

Before we pull down the grand old lady 'Goodison Park' I would like to see Everton FC put a plaque or small piece of architecture up at the stadium which would act as a sign of respect for young boy but also a celebration of youth and life. Let the kids of Liverpool design it and commission a good artist to design it. My message is simple. Design it and place it at Goodison so people have something to remind them of Rhys Jones but also some appropriate words to celebrate the youth and joy when you see youngsters in the blue shirts playing and dreaming of becoming their idols and heroes!

Finally ensure that the memorial is transferred and put in an appropriate place on the new stadium. He then becomes part of history but also a reminder to all that life is precious and we at Everton care. Thoughts and the deepest respect to all the family. Kind regards. Tony L. (08/09/07)

MANUEL FERNANDES OR SHOULD THAT BE MERCENARY FOOTBALLER?

I'm glad really as when a player comes to Everton they are proud to wear the the Royal Blue jersey, look at Nevs, Jags and Leighton B, they
are like they've never been anything else, Lee Carsley, Andy, Joleon, in fact our squad has the best team spirit in the Premiership. Fernandes? At best very talented, at worst quite lazy and obviously not committed. Money saved in my opinion, fuck him. If we dipped in form or went through a bad patch, he wouldn't have pulled his weight, he would have been another Pierre van Hooijdonk and bleated about the rest of the team not being as good as him, I know it. We don't need him. WE ARE EVERTON. We're a Grand Auld Team to play for. All The Best. Dylan Morgan. Welsh Blood, Evertonian Heart.
