Big Improvement By Hibbert

Since the start of the season I have been moaning my arse off about the absolute dismal performances of a certain Tony Hibbert. But I must say that today's performance against the Smoggy's has restored my faith in the man. He played quality and I was well impressed. Nice 1 Hibbo lad. Cheers, Big Dave, Bootle. (01/10/07)

Yakubu

Is eleven million pounds Yakubu’s weight or price? I really hope I’m wrong, but he just looks like another Beattie to me; a clumsy lump. Paul. (01/10/07)

Tony Hibbert

Is just me or is Tony Hibbert shit. He gives the ball away all the time. His crossing is woeful. I would play Neville there and sell Hibbert to Sheff Utd were he would play the best football of his career. Just like some else you no who. Peter McEntee. (01/10/07)

Everton Supporters Club Gibraltar

Buoyed up by reading on www.bluekipper.com about the Everton Gibraltar Supporters Club run by Kevin Eagle, I swung by The Trafalgar Bar today to watch the match against Middlesbrough, with some like-minded souls, only to find it an absolute wasteland. Tumbleweed was blowing along the bar as I walked out, disgusted. I spent the 1st half of the game calling in at several bars along Main Street & I finally called it a day at the Pig and Whistle where again, only the rugby was being shown. I've come back to my apartment on my lonesome to watch the rest of the game and to cry into my beer. Am I missing something, or has the Club finally called it a day & left town? Tell me I'm wrong...

I emailed Kevin at the address on your site, but the email couldn't be delivered. Can you put a plea out for the whereabouts of the Everton Supporters Club Gibraltar branch? Yours, a desolate Blue, alone in Gib; Adrian Wilson

Faddy The Bigger Picture

I think Faddy has definitely got what it takes to be a top centre forward & I can't believe people are on his back all the time. Give the boy a chance, as in my opinion he's been played out of position for 90% of the time since he's been at Goodison. For most of the time he's had to play in midfield because we simply haven't had the creativity, players or enough cover there and the lad is definitely without question a striker. The only real times he has played as a striker is when the squad has been depleted and how can that be a fair crack of the whip. How would you feel if you were a striker playing out of position and you were considered second second fiddle to "can't hit a cows arse with a banjo dj beattie" watching this nut job running around all day like a headless chicken not knowing WTF he's doing. Look lets get behind the boy instead of criticising him, look at the bigger picture for f**ks sake, we have been steadily building a decent team for a few years now, we haven't got the cash to build over night success like the chelski's, manures or the shite that is a reality. We picked Faddy up on the cheap as a youngster and in my opinion as an ongoing project, a kind of rough diamond that even Moyes has admitted in the past that he doesn't know his best position. In all fairness and all considered its hardly a settling environment for a youngster plucked from Scotland with the added pressure of coming to such a big club and being expected to perform miracles for the 1st team straight away. I believe that only now he is starting to settle in because he now knows in his mind and I believe that Moyes has given him the nod before the season kicked off that he is to be played as a striker. Also take into consideration the birth of his 1st child and this is all now settling him nicely. He obviously wanted to stay, to fight and to prove what he is capable of, he is a tough nut to crack in a mental sense and you have got to admire him for that. In a nutshell I think those who slate him should hang their heads in shame and actually thank him for not buckling under the pressure and f**king off back north already, because you will all be signing his name come the end of the season. Justin, S,Wales. (01/10/07)

The Team I'd Love To See!

The starting 11 we need to be playing is:

Howard,
Jag, Stubbs, Lescott, Baines
Arteta, Tommy G, Cahill, McFadden
Yak, Vaughan

Wessels, Yobo, Osman, Carsley, Johnson

Cahill pressing on and Tommy G running the show! Vaughan over Johnson just so it's something different up top than 2 out, and out runners. Cheers. Ryry. (01/10/07)

Blue Passion

Just critical for our confidence we win today.the Yak, SHOULD be all fired up especially against his former club. I wasn't impressed with his form lately, but against a below standard team in the cup he scored a fairly ok goal hope he is able do do it now on a permanent basis especially for £11.5m! Not sure about our midfield, we`re a bit lightweight not craft apart from our one `Magician` Mikel Arteta. Hope when the transfer window opens again David is able to grab a play maker. Always said one player we should of got was Steve Sidwell but David missed out. What about giving Anderson-de-Silver a chance, I mean he`s hardly had a go. Only a young kid, who knows might be what we`re looking for, just bring him back. I feel very sorry for Andy Johnson but play him and he`ll eventually come good, an easy goal anyway and his confidence will no doubt come flooding back.

Me, I'm more concerned about our UEFA game in Ukraine. We made a relatively unknown team who most Premiership clubs would wipe away, look good quite honestly. Should play our 3 attackers, give James mcFadden a more free role up front supporting both AJ and the Yak, Hopefully Tim Cahill will be ready. The downside of europe is we can't afford to loose sight in the League as that's what matters most. But at the same time get as far as poss, maybe group stages then hopefully we SHOULD have a few more cash. Best wishes, Paul. (01/10/07)

The Myth That Is McFadden

James McFadden is currently flavour of the month. Three goals this season, when your main striker Andy Johnson hasn't hit the back of the net at all and new record signing is getting a bit of stick for not working hard enough for the team. So all is well with Faddy. I predict that McFadden will end up way down the pecking order once Johnson has found the net and James Vaughan is back to full fitness. He won't get a game ahead of The Yak or big Vic. So will end up a bit player for Everton like he always has been. Lets get one thing straight he came to Everton as the Scottish version of Wayne Rooney. Don't make me laugh! I don't think he's a better footballer than Wayne Rooney senior. The Euphoria that has surrounded him since he scored that goal for Scotland against France has likened him to a God in Scotland. A great goal some say although I think questions must be asked of the clown in goal. Saying that he's got a decent scoring record for his national team 12 in 34 games. Not bad for a left midfield player, because that's what he is. He came here as a midfielder, but after he scored a few goals for Scotland all of a sudden, he's a centre forward. He'll never be an Everton centre forward whilst he's got a hole in his arse. Besides scoring on his debut he's had a poor few seasons at Everton. I can honestly say I can only remember him having a couple of decent games out of the 100 he's played for Everton. Mr Consistency he certainly isn't. Don't be fooled, because he scores a 'wonder' goal against Charlton, that he's brilliant. He isn't. He has been likened to a circus act in some quarters. I agree he's the juggling clown. McFadden maybe ok for Scotland, but for Everton, no. He constantly looses the ball when Everton are attacking. He's slight and gets knocked off the ball. He's also got a bad temperament and is always moaning to referees, causing him to get booked and gets upset if he gets robbed and fouls the player back to the detriment of the team. Moyes may play him on Sunday because of his goals against the bottom team in the Championship, but I'd go for AJ and The Yak on Sunday against Boro. McFadden will be forgotten about in a week or two. Just not good enough for Everton. Boys Pen Boy. (29/09/07)

Calling Aussie Blues

To the good folk and readers of Blue Kipper. I am Colin Murphy and I live on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland Australia. I have wanted to organise a get together for the Evertonians of South East Queensland (Gold Coast, Brisbane and Sunshine Coast). I will be hoping to organise a night in December at a venue in Brisbane. I am currently negotiating a pub to sponsor and support our night so these details will be provided soon. I am hoping you could put this message up on the notice board for all interested people. Anyone interested could you please contact me at murfeverton@hotmail.com so I can account for numbers. Thank you Blue Kipper for your support and for the great site. Colin Murphy. (29/09/07)

Time For Faddy

As the old saying goes, "pick the players that are in form" (if only Steve McLaren would listen). In the past I may have been a teensy weensy bit critical of James McFadden. I may (like many others) have uttered the phrase "Oh for f***s sake" as the Scottish forward lofted the ball in to Row H for the 18th time that afternoon. However, he seems to be in a fairly rich vein of form at the moment. His goal for Scotland in France was simply stunning and 2 goals in the week (although against Sheffield Wednesday) shows that he is the man scoring the goals at the moment. He has promised alot since arriving. Perhaps now it's time to deliver. With Arteta missing he is really the only other player in the squad that is capable of unlocking a defence with a moment of magic. His goal against Charlton last year for example was pure genius. Plus how can you hate a man who got sent off for swearing at Graham Poll (sort of). As with many players of his type is can be the most frustrating person on Earth or he can be superb. Surely now is the chance to give him a run in the side. Lets just hope it's not another false dawn and that he shows what he's capable of. See you at Goodison on Sunday. COYB. Spencer Bishop. (29/09/07)

Give Moyes A Break

The blues we are certainly that, every time we lose a game, moaning it's part of the Liverpool mentality, for FS give it a rest, it's only September. Moyes has pulled this team to a position of going to win. Give him a break you silly people. COYB. John Lea. (29/09/07)

Phil Neville Right Back!

Firstly I would like to state again I am a fan of what David Moyes has done for Everton, however is he that blind that he only notices Phil Neville done well at right back against the Owls. Mr Moyes it's no secret that Johnson's goals dried up when you started playing the donkey Hibbert at right back. Look back to Phil Neville's output from the same position last season and the crosses he provided for goals for Johnson (and others). Hibbert although a nice lad, his passing (long ball) is wayward & rubbish. Some of our worst results occur when Hibbert is in the team (Remember Rooney skinning him last year for fun). Yobbo makes mistakes as he can't concentrate on his own game as he has to cover Hibbert's down falls. I haven't checked but i'm sure we haven't kept a clean sheet since he got back in at right back. Neville is not a central midfielder as he lacks the creativity and skill there however he's a bloody good right back and links well with Arteta (who also has been crap with Hibbert at right back), so Moyes mark my words you play him there the team clicks and Johnson and Yakubu will score for fun. EFC forever. Colin Svenson. (29/09/07)

Plea to the Boss!

I love everything you’ve done for us Moyesy, but please, please, please can we stop playing with two defensive midfielders! It invites pressure and limits our options going forward! And although Phil adds great leadership to the team, he’s no more than an emergency midfielder – and I think we miss his crossing from right back! Please. Gaz. (29/09/07)

Good Cup Run

I've been an Everton fan all my life & agree that once Everton has touched you, nothing is the same. I've seen many of my friends go for teams that become successful, ''WAGON JUMPERS'' I call them, whilst I continue to support the one & only Everton & will do so 'til the day I die ( hopefully Moyes wont be manager until then ).

He says he wants a good cup run but seems blissfully unaware that to have a good cup run, you have to play imaginative, creative football. Every team we play in a cup competition must be wringing their hands in glee when they realise that a David Moyes controlled team is going to be the opposition ( truly uninventive with long balls from the back ). It seems to me that at least 75% of the games that Everton win are because the opposition has failed to take enough of the volume of chances they create. I refuse to blame the players because I think they are doing what they are told. If a company starts to under perform, they don't get rid of the workforce, they turf out the boss because it is he that has to be made accountable. The players we have are capable of a top 6 finish every year. BUT ONLY WITH A CHANGE OF MANAGER. Apart from Ferguson, I cant think of too many successful Scottish managers in the modern game ( remember the exquisite play of the team under Walter Smith ).

I will continue to hope for the best, I may even pray a little, but feel it is a lost cause with that man in charge. Sorry Davey, but your time is up. Brent Lock. (26/09/07)

We Need Cahill & Gravesen In The Side

I have just returned from spending 5 weeks in UK and Europe, I had the opportunity to go and see my fave team against Wigan at home. With two of my fellow kiwi pals, we sat down to enjoy an Everton victory. We did, that is see an Everton victory, but I for one was not all that impressed with our lads in that game. I have seen Everton (on TV) play a lot better, and I was concerned for the rest of the games in the season against much better opposition than Wigan. Admittedly, some of the calls by the ref were dubious to say the least regarding claims for penalties. I have my concerns over Hibbert, the crowd were yelling at him to cover the Wigan guy whose name escapes me at the moment who scored. He just loses concentration and as do a few of them, and its scary to watch. Goodness knows what the regular fans feel. I cannot wait for Tim C to be back and just get that extra lift we need in front of goal, also for Tommy G to come back and help control midfield. And tell me someone, please, why of why when we buy strikers who have scored heaps of goals in other teams, do they stop scoring when they come to the Blues. It must be the style of play surely - so why not revert to the kind of play they like to score? I am no Manager, and would be the first to admit that, but this seems to happen with most strikers who come to Everton. We have found we are lacking for the right blend when we lose important players, like the two Tim's, Mikel, Tommy and the like. Where to from here? I don't know, but it is scary if we don't stop this slide before it gets beyond doing anything about it. Ann. (26/09/07)

Schoolboy Footy

An Everton fullback finds himself with the ball, what does he do? He moves forward until an opposition player stands in his way. Then he boots the ball downfield so another opposition player can head it straight back. A top team fullback gets the ball what does he do?He passes the ball about until a midfielder drops back to take the pass and start the move forward. And who is this top team? My Grandson`s under 11 school team. Do you think Mr Moyes ever reads this fabulous website? Ken Woodhouse. (26/09/07)

What the hell is going on....again !

After the Bolton game Moyes said, allegedly, that he was now happy with his squad. Since then it has been a catalogue of errors. The Manure game was one that I don`t think we were ever going to win and might even consider ourselves a bit unfortunate to lose but we did and I could live with that. What followed however defied belief. Moyes sent out a team to play 4-3-3 in the fixture against the Mentalists. Can anybody explain to me why he did that? I cannot remember us ever playing that formation unless we were chasing a game possibly. Not only did they get a draw but, in my opinion, they seemed to have a better grasp as to how to pass the ball to each other. Something we seem to have found difficult for most of the season.

Once again we were reduced to banging the ball upfield to AJ and Yakubu who were expected to run around like headless chickens chasing anything and everything. Absolutely clueless tactics once again. The Mentalists were then reduced to ten men and we still did not change anything save for taking Yakubu off and bunging Victor on. Even when the Mentalists were reduced to nine men we still continued to bang the ball upfield in the vain hope that somebody/anybody would get on the end of it. By now I was on the verge on chucking something through my television.

How can we play two defensive midfielders in a 4-3-3 formation. Neither Neville nor Carsley are the greatest passers of the ball and yet they comprised two thirds of our midfield! I cannot accept that injuries forced Moyes into that particular formation. We could have played McFadden wide and played 4-4-2 just as easily. But this was not meant to be and the Moyesiah decided to play McFadden as a striker leaving Osman, Neville and Carsley as our midfield. Absolutely clueless again !

You will note that I have not heaped a load of scorn on McFadden this time as he did as well as anybody. Unfortunately he did not seem to know where he was supposed to be playing and as a consequence was left in no mans land. I cannot blame AJ either as he scored a perfectly good penalty first time and but for the poor refereeing would have got his season under way. I can blame Moyes though as in one of our most important games this season and a chance to progress in the UEFA cup he has once again ballsed it up big time. Wrong formation, wrong team selection, wrong just about everything. Why wasn`t Jagielka playing ? I am not his greatest fan but he is a bit more adventurous than either Neville or Carsley and seems to get into goal scoring positions albeit missing most of them. A spitting blood Blue with a fractured television. John. (26/09/07)

Tactics Out The Window

Everton are gunna be lucky to stay mid table after the worst performance I've seen in years. What's goin on boys? Lets get a grip. Lets sort this midfield out and Yakubu, you need to start earning your money mate. Moyesy, sort them out or its gunna be another wasted journey to the Ukraine. Good luck! Your gunna need it. Steve from Widnes. (26/09/07)

McFadden Instead Of Johnson

That 2-0 defeat to Villa was very disappointing ... at the moment I'd pick McFadden over Johnson all day. He's got that confidence as though he knows what he is made of and I think if we played him from the off more we would be lying in a better position. Johnson is a good player but it looks as though he's having some trouble breaking down the defence. At the end of the day we need goals and Johnson isn't providing them. I can't see him giving us goals in a consistent way anymore. Maybe I'm wrong but we will see. Darren Quinn, Pensby. (26/09/07)

Team Selection

Just a few lines of concern that I am having this early in the season with the way the results are going so far. Good early start now the wheels are starting to wobble a bit.

1. Why is Mcfadden playing his first touch is terrible even none existent, He scores a few good goals once every blue moon but we need a better return from an attacking midfielder/striker?

2. IF? We play Tony Hibbert don’t let him go any further than the half way line please !

3. This is perhaps the biggest point but I fear the big yak is going to be another Beattie. From what I have seen he has no pace and he is suppose to be strong, Anichebe is only a young lad but he is twice as strong as The Yak, 11 Million is a big price what are we going to get in return ?

Please Davey get this right or we are going to carry on slipping down the table. A J needs a rest, Put him on the bench for a bit and play 4,5,1. We also see how much we are missing Mikel and Tim and Vaughany. With the exception of Injuries we need to sort it quick otherwise the Ukraine will be as far as we go this year and maybe for a few years to come. Steve Mullo. (26/09/07)

Give AJ A Rest

DOES ANYONE AGREE THAT ANDREW JOHNSON SHOULD BE DROPPED? WE BOUGHT HIM FOR 8.6 MILLION AND HE HAS REPLIED WITH 11 LEAGUE GOALS THAT SIMPLY AINT GOOD ENOUGH. HE SHOULD NOT BE A HERO JUST BECAUSE HE SCORED TWICE AGAINST REDSHITE LAST SEASON. THE YAK AND VAUGHAN SHOULD BE OUR FRONT TWO ONCE VAUGHAN IS FIT. Dermot Prendergast. (26/09/07)

The Blues Never Let You Down

I have looked forward to last Thursday, like the rest of the blue world, for months. Hoping we had learnt our lesson from two years ago that gung-ho wont work in europe. What did they do gung-ho, pure amateur hour. Then they follow it up with indifference and get beat by
Villa or is it by themselves. Enter Sheff Wed-oh no not another season of nothing!!!! Regards, Ian Parker. (26/09/07)

EVERTONS' THE TEAM THAT USED TO PLAY BEAUTIFUL FOOTBALL

Along with many similar minded Evertonians I am appalled at the poor standard of football being served up at Goodison. Beattie, Johnson and now it seems Yakubu have ceased being regular goalscorers once they have managed to get a game. The common denominator is quite simple it is the way we play. WE DO NOT CREATE CHANCES. We are top heavy with players who can not pass a ball consistently to their own player.Take Arteta or Gravesen out of the team and we are struggling. Most of our goals are scored from set pieces. When was the last time you came away from the ground and thought to yourself, "Their keeper played a blinder". In the five years that Moyes has been here Wenger has built TWO teams playing great football and consequently winning trophies. This has not just come about it has been screaming at us for years. Two years ago we had to wait until late on in October until we saw our first goal at Goodison in the Premiership. Penalty from Beattie against Chelsea. The away leg in the Ukraine is the biggest game in Moyes career. Nobody knows how he will play this one or who he will play but let us hope that we will not see the long ball game as in the first leg. I was not the only person looking for Duncan. It is stand up and be counted time for both manager and players. We don't want another Dinamo Bucharest experience. If Moyes does not come away with a victory the board must question his constant failure in domestic and European cup competitions. Moyes picks them and Moyes plays them. JACK WARNER. LIFELONG BLUE. (26/09/07)

Moyes At The Limit

I have never been a great admirer of Moyesy. Even though He makes the Team play with plenty of endeavor and that is His 'limit' and talent as a Manager. Moyesy's tactics and playing style are very narrow and fragile. He is out of His depth in the EPL. I Truly admire His passion for EFC. I am just as passionate as he is..does that make Me a good Manager? I think not. There are just as great passionate managers in the Saturday/Sunday leagues so that should go with the territory! On reflection on My beloved Blues and these are just My opinions. We are too 'lightweight' in midfield with no vision and creativity 'whats so ever' add to that no STEEL either !! There are too many average Players who just play a bit part , again in My opinion the types of Neville, osman,Pienaar,Carsley,Yak,and even A.J. To name just a few, Are not cut out to trouble the opposition too much in any respect.the FRONT MEN MUST BE FRUSTRATED WITH THE LACK OF SERVICE AND LACK OF QUALITY SUPPLY TO THEM MUST WANT TO MAKE THEM QUIT !! sorry for the shouting but the one win in the last six is making Me ..well You tell Me what it is making You ?? We need a European Manager with more scope and vision than D.M. The thought of D.M. getting a new 15 million quid contract has just sent a nervous cold down My spine !! Come on Blue Kipper what are Your unbiased thoughts on this garbage D.M. is serving up ? John 'dusty' Connor. (26/09/07)

Another poor performance

What the hell is going on at Everton? Yet again another piss poor performance against a bunch of misfits who we should be beating. Why Moyes continues to play Hibbert I'll never know. Neville or Jags should be playing right back and the steady calming influence of Stubbs needs bringing back to the fold. As usual we waste millions on a 3rd rate striker, memories of Backayko, Amocachi, Mo Johnson, Brett Angell, to name but a few, and leave him on the bench but keep a guy in the team who missed 2 pens in the week and is so low on confidence its untrue. The club is becoming a joke again. Problem is though, I'm not laughing. Chelle Bradley. (26/09/07)

New Manager

I think its about time Moyes fucked off and lets have a new manager who has got some tactical ability, a manager who will play attractive football, a manager who has a plan "B". Just how long have we got to put up with the shite that he serves up week after week? How many more forwards is he going to ruin and make look ordinary? That is until they leave us. I have read in the papers today that the board want to extend his contract, have a re think Blue Bill the money you have generated and given him he has wasted. Please don't give him any more. I believe Mr Moyes has peaked he has reached the point of his ability, so lets shake his hand thank him for what he has done and send him on his way. Joanne Day. (26/09/07)

Second Leg Crucial

The second leg against Metalist will decide whether Moyes is the manager for us for the next few years. If we lose then he's not the man we need to help us with in Europe. Ann Basnett. (26/09/07)

Performances Well Below Par

Although shorn of a handful of players who would definitely have either started or been on the bench, Everton still had enough quality(on paper) to have dispatched the Ukrainians & taken at least a 2 goal lead into the second leg, & that's before the farce of the 3 penalties. We all knew that Metalist would come with a defensive game in mind, but due to our inept display they gradually gained the belief that they could & ultimately did get something out of the game. After a not too convincing start the nerves were slightly settled when we took the lead & everyone thought that we could go on & get a healthy advantage. But Everton being Everton, we don’t ever do it the easy way, & after the missed penalties & the subsequent equaliser we showed no imagination whatsoever against 10 men, then incredibly 9 men, lumping long ball after long ball forward from Phil Neville or my personal EFC man of the match Tony Hibbert. (sorry, that was a bad joke).

This by the way is not supposed to be a match report so I shall get to the real reason for this rant. I wrote this with a player review in mind so without further ado I shall give my opinions, which from what I could hear around me, both in the Main Stand where I was seated & also on the street whilst trudging drearily home, I don’t seem to be alone in.

Wessels, Lescott, Baines, Yobo & Johnson (even after a horrendous second penalty miss),& Anichebe can not be fully exempt from blame as they were part of the team, but at least there was some form of commitment from them. Jagielka wasn’t given enough time to make a difference really but didn’t do too much in the 10 or so minutes he was on for.

Tony Hibbert - Has to be quite possibly the worst right back I have ever seen in 35 years of watching, sorry being tortured at Goodison Park. How 40,000 people can see it & the manager not is beyond me. The mans defending is awful, his positioning is awful & his distribution is beyond even awful!!!!

Lee Carsley & Phil Neville – Although some fine performances from both in the past against Metalist proved that they are nothing but midfield enforcers. Neither possesses enough quality or creativity on the ball to open up a very poor Metalist side, & indeed along with the aforementioned Hibeert(sic), Neville's final 15 minutes consisted of long punts into a gleeful Metalist central defence, happy to swat away the stream of unimaginative efforts that messrs Neville & Hibeert came up with. Both of their performances only underline the point that they need a play maker alongside them.

James McFadden – Doesn’t seem able to keep up a consistent level of performance for 90 minutes. Why I don’t know?? Is he being played out of position?? Far too lightweight to play him in his favoured position of centre forward. Does he need a 10 game run of starts to show us what he says he can produce?? I would keep him on the bench as a more than useful substitute option.

Leon Osman – Again far too lightweight & easily knocked off the ball. Flashes of promise early season but as with McFadden flatters to deceive on a regular basis.

Yakubu – Admittedly I didn’t see much of him when he was at Boro or Portsmouth but his goal record is pretty impressive. As his transfer was going through I did read some comments questioning his commitment, last night only highlighted how right these comments were. The man looked disinterested from the start, 2 yards off the pace & 2 stone off a decent weight. At first he was playing out on the left but was ineffective. Then him & Johnson swapped & he was even more ineffective through the middle. He didn’t win one header that I can remember, indeed I am hard pushed to remember him even jumping for a ball. Anichebe did more in his first 10 minutes on the pitch than he managed all night. He needs to shape up or ship out as if there is one thing us Evertonians wont put up with, & lets face it there's been a lot, then it’s a player that doesn’t make an effort.

A word about some of the others on the bench: Stubbs – Should have started. Jutkiewicz & Vidarsson – If they’re good enough for the bench why are they not getting a chance to show us on the pitch?? Mark Bloor. (26/09/07)

Metalist Game

Just a few points from that very disappointing display. First as you mention on your site McFadden is full of confidence (only has a left foot) so what does moyes do plays him down the right first half. Now I’m no lover of McFadden but that is just not fair on the lad, if I can see he is going to cut in from the top balcony I, me. Pretty sure their fullback knows. 2nd why did moyes change a winning team from the Bolton game? 3rd you say in your match report Everton created many chances, I have to presume you were at a different game they had nine men and we had Lescott and Yobo having to try and take control of midfield in order to create chances for our strikers. When a team loses a player or two is it not normal to stretch the game let them chase, but what do we do chip balls forward to the edge of the penalty area for there centre backs to have some heading practice. 4. Tony Hibbert I can't believe the right back in Everton’s youth team academy teams is not a better player than Hilbert. 5 years no improvement in his passing. What does he practice in training? Fitness, running? So let’s get an athlete to play right back because Hibbert's passing is going to get a lot of are players injured. 6. why is it Moyes always picks his team depending on the opposition? Should he not worry about how were going to play. What makes me worry if that game would have finished one nil Moyes would have been pleased. Everton should be beating teams who get 350 at there home games with ease, they were as expected big strong well organised with decent technique so lets have it right they weren’t that bad but on the night we on the field let are fans down again. Fiasco

Just a few observations after the fiasco of the Meat list last Thursday. If we play with the same clueless direction as Thursday we’re doomed for more disappointment. The captain of the titanic had more skill and direction than Phil Neville and look what happened to him. How is this man even in the starting eleven never mind the captain (trying not to get personal here but he is S**t). I know the crowd were a little flat but it’s not really surprising if the team on the pitch give us nothing to rise to. Who is to blame? Well some of the players on the pitch, Yakubu (lay off the valium, it’s not doing you any good) Neville (buy a sat nav there really cheap now) and Moyes playing in Europe isn’t about taking the kids to Disneyworld. This is serious stuff to us long suffering blues, sort it out! We really need a good result at villa and let’s be honest we don’t often get one there so start first by picking a team that can win and then use some of those man management/ tactical skills and get a result for the 34,000 pissed off Evertonians who had to watch that on Thursday. Russ Johns, St End. (23/09/07)

The Squad's Still Too Small

I have been to 4 games this season (2 home, 2 away) and will be at Villa on Sunday. If me and my mates are saying the same thing (Hibbert = great effort but woefully short of quality, Neville = not sure what he offers, especially in a 4 man midfield. I'd only play him at right back cos Hibbo is so shit, Johnson = running his nuts off but no service, Jagielka = looks a good player and at home you wud play him with Cahill or Grav when fit (not 2 f*ckin defensive centre midfielders!!.)

The point is, IF i can see it, and surprise, surprise I come on BLUEKIPPER and everyone here can see it, then why the fuck can't DM see it. I really fear for us at the mo. Sorry boys but if Mikel isn't fit for Villa, i just can't see us getting anything!!

And finally, and this really pisses me off, DM said all last year that our squad was too small but is now saying its big enough!! How the hell does he work that out? Wright, Weir, Pistone, Fernandes, Beattie, Kilbane OUT Wessels, Baines, Grav, Pienaar, Jag, Yak IN. YOU WORK IT OUT!! Jamie Wilson, Oxford. (22/09/07)
