S..tedium Debate I’ve said before that Goodison holds fantastic memories, I’ve said before that I really would rather have a pint in the city and stroll to the ground. We all recognise that the club needs a modern facility to move forward. Unless someone can tell us why sites rejected by LFC should be deemed suitable for the Blues and how the club are going to generate £300m to build a stadium anyway is there any point in continuing with this debate though? It really is Kirkby or nowt. KEIOC are well-meaning but I don’t see any answers to these questions anywhere. The rumoured splits between the cousins at Anfield, the flop of the refinancing deal and sudden interest in clubs Italian don’t fill me with enthusiasm for a search for a foreign sugar daddy. Remember that so far the hamshanks have not put one penny into LFC. Everything, including the summer £40m, has been borrowed. Ultimately they will be in hock to somebody for the best part of £800m. Let’s suppose they can get that at 5%, (unlikely, there would be nothing like the principal in asset values and therefore a very risky punt) that would mean a need to generate £40m clear profit every year just to pay the interest. Anyone wanting to buy the Blues and build a stadium would have to borrow perhaps half that. But, seriously, how soon do we see Everton generating a £20m profit after wages and transfer fees are paid? The irony is that as we progress as a team we need to buy better players and pay them more. The recent deals for Cahill, Arteta, Johnson and Lescott are about keeping good players by putting their wages up. We’ve done that without seeing anything substantial from Europe in the way of cash yet. Where would we be if we make the Champions League next year? Well we’d be over the moon, but if we didn’t want it to end in tears we’d need to spend some serious cash. A new stadium is the route to this in the longer term. Arsenal have shown that it can be a realistic way to go without selling your soul to the devil. Save your emotional energy, see what the Tesco link brings or doesn’t but at the AGM stop questioning people’s motives and ask sensible questions about costs to the club, income projections from all sources, the basis for projections and the rest. Long lost friend, lives in Kirby, Preston, Lancashire with the name of CHRIS HODGE! Teresa Bradstock. (19/11/07) FA Whitewash I also sent a letter to the FA after the game against the bent shite, my reply was word for word the same as the one listed on the site, as is my friends at work. At least the FA replied even if it was a white wash, but I also sent a copy to the bent bastard red referee club and to date no reply. It is an outrage. Ken. (19/11/07) Tickets Subscribe to Everton TV to see the top comedy hit "Everton FC Monthly Ticket Fiasco" Hosted by the lovable Keith Wyness. This month show see's you paying for your ticket and flight with the official travel company only to be told a week later "sorry we haven't got enough tickets" Oh laugh. You may remember some great previous classic months as the "Swipe your card for the Larissa game only to find out it doesn't work on the night so go and queue up again" priceless. Or what about the "Don' blame us its the Royal Mails fault round featuring Metalist with added bonus of having the game delayed by 35 minutes" wayhay. You might also remember the timeless masterpiece of the Champions league qualifier against Villarreal which was " You've bought your season tickets for years but bollocks to you, lets put them on general sale straight away, have murder, then change our minds, ( we listen to our fans ) but sorry mate your seats gone to Joey from Crocky who's never been to a match in his life" one of my personal favourites that one. Some other hilarious other episodes from the archives include " Preston NE in the Cup 32,000 with 10,000 locked out" or " Brazil v Japan with 26,000 in and 20,000 locked out" "1995 FA Cup Final" Each episode gets better and better" now doubt you all have your own personal favourites, contact Keith and tell him so he can totally ignore them.. So Stay tuned folks because another brilliant episode of the "Everton FC Monthly Ticket Fiasco" is just a home tie away. Regards. Kevin Jones. (19/11/07) No Long Ball I was at the Birmingham match and the finish was the best 2 minutes of football I have seen for years. BUT, and it’s a big but, when will we stop the “Long ball” game? We have in Arteta, Cahill, Peinar and Osman a decent midfield, so why do we launch it over the top. There were periods in the game when the ball hardly touched the ground, and Brum always seemed to be tall enough to get to it. They would get possession and come right back at us. I hate this long ball game especially as we don’t have anyone up front over 5’9, is it because we miss big Dunc, and it never worked with him? Wessels seem to have the right idea when he was rolling it out, let’s mix it up a bit. So come on Moysey, keep the ball on the ground, pass and move, and substitute a bit earlier, give the lads at least 20mins to affect the game, after all we can’t expect Carsley(Roy of the Rovers) and Vaughan(Superman) to do it every week. It has now got to the stage where I change channels in frustration after the continual tripe dished out that you assume is newsworthy. In recent programs there has been concern about the lack of English players coming through the league youth teams - and, of course, Sky Sports rushed over to Manchester United in order to dispel any fears that "interested?" fans would have for the future of English football by showing how their under-12 team was doing fine and dandy!!!! Well, Sky Sports, you really ought to open the back door and look out - there is a world out there that can and will open your eyes.... The following is an article from an official website explaining what you in the media would trip over yourselves in reporting had it been achieved by one of the "big 4" or "G18"..........in fact, I believe that most genuine football fans would say that this is a set of extremely impressive performances by Everton's youth teams (under 12s, 11s and 10s) over European opposition during the summer - and look who they beat to achieve their aims....obviously not newsworthy to the "Big4/G18" media! "It was a treble triumph for three of Everton’s Academy sides in Europe at the weekend. The Under 12s, 11s and 10s competed in a number of tournaments at various locations against some of the continent’s super powers including the likes of Valencia and Sevilla. The Toffees Under 12s travelled to Obertraun in Austria and won the competition defeating Admira Wacker 1-0 in the final. The youngsters finished top of their group and overcame Sturm Graz in the semi-final. Meanwhile in Spain, the Under 11s triumphed over Inter Milan on penalties. Everton held a comfortable 2-0 lead until the 85th minute but the Italian outfit pulled two goals back in the final five minutes to set up a tense finale which concluded with a penalty shoot-out. On route to the final the talented youngsters had defeated Sevilla, Inter and Hertha Berlin. Finally in Germany, the Under 10s ended up joint winners of their tournament with Dutch giants Ajax. After a goalless 120 minutes of play, the match went to spot kicks but with the score 13-13, both teams decided to share the trophy. Academy coach, Neil Dewsnip told evertonTV: “To win three European tournaments in three different age groups and in three different countries is a wonderful achievement. There were a number of high profile teams in terms of developing young talent on show, and to overcome sides such as Inter is no mean feat.” Dewsnip was quick to point out how important these types tournaments are in terms of nurturing new talent. “These tournaments are important in terms of developing the youngsters,” he said. “It is the next phase of their education and hopefully many of them will go on to achieve a full-time scholarship here at the Academy and then into the manager’s first-team squad.” Come on Sky Sports - take off those "Big 4/G18" spectacles and start reporting newsworthy items. Money isn't everything - there are honest teams working hard on youth development. Take a trip to the brand new "state of the art" Academy that Everton have just recently opened and let the real footballing public see how good these kids are - don't ignore them. Gerry Quinn. (15/11/07) Clattenberg I've sent a few e-mails to the FA regarding the inept performance of Mark Clattenberg at the recent derby match. I got the standard reply, but persued the matter. See below. The last reply from the F.A. is a total cop-out! Purely & simply. The questions I raised have clearly not been answered, so it really is a waste of time to give people a facility that doesn't exist. Perhaps you would care to address one further issue? If Steven Gerrard was not an England regular, nor skipper of Liverpool FC, would the FA still not consider action against him???????????? I really don't expect the courtesy of an HONEST reply. Mr Vickers, Perhaps discussing your concerns directly would be a little more constructive? My number is below or alternatively if you could provide a contact number and an appropriate time I’d be happy to call. In the meantime and to clarify, all teams and all players are treated in the same manner irrespective of their position in the English football pyramid and regardless of any involvement with an England international side at any level. Kind regards, Alex Howells. Well
Chaps.....I took up the offer from Alex Howells at the (sweet) F.A.
and spoke with him this afternoon. AJ's "loyalty" As I understand it, AJ has signed a new 5yr deal. He was less than a year into a 5yr deal at the time. No doubt he is now being paid more, i.e. this is another example of media speculation and possible interest from other clubs driving players' wages up. Blue Bill and Johnno insult our intelligence with this talk of loyalty and putting rumours to rest. He still hasn't proved himself a sound long-term investment, so why bow to his agent's demands for a pay-rise? Vaughany and Victor are the players we should be focussing on keeping long-term. From what I've seen they are more natural goalscorers. Tony, Wirral. (15/11/07) Goodison Park - The Future In
1966 Goodison Park hosted the SEMI-FINAL of the World Cup between the
USSR and West Germany? Today's equivalent of Russia and Germany - I
apologise for dumbing this bit down folks, but there are some right
f##k-wits around today. MBE More from MBE please. ‘Betrieb Blau’ was the most enjoyable piece of reportage I have read in many a day, even better on second reading. I live and work abroad so BK is a lifeline for a lifetime Evertonian. Blue Bill was a school friend of mine at the Liverpool Institute, which dates me. Keep up the good work. Keith Harper. (15/11/07) Sir Howard Kendall I am not too sure if you know but there is an online petition to be presented to the prime minister to get Howard Kendall knighted for his services to football and Everton FC. If anyone wants to sign the petition they can use the following link. http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/KnightKendall/ Keep up the good work on the website. David Watts. Wallasey. (15/11/07) Keep The Pressure Up Got to say I agree with Eddieparkend; why have Everton football club allowed the FA to gloss over the /facts... /one of their referee's is NOT impartial and his judgement is therefore flawed. Ok it looks like there is going to be little in the way of anything like recompence or apology, but why not? Because this is unprecedented there is nothing in place for this sort of thing, where the referee is properly punished (ie sacked), apologies are officially issued and points awarded/deducted. We shouldn't just let this matter rest, we aren't asking the earth, just fairness. Blue Bill Cannie. (14/11/07) Great News About AJ Even with a decent run of games in recent days, the best news has come from off the pitch with the breaking news that AJ has signed a new 5-year contract. We all know AJ’s not been on top of his game of late and lost some confidence (especially after the penalty misses), but we also know that he is class when he gets the right service and gets back to full fitness after the ankle op. Just as important – he epitomes that Everton ‘work ethic’ which every one of our players needs in bucket-loads if we are to compete against the likes of Chelski, Utd and the Arse (is the Yak starting to get the idea? Time will tell!). I’m pleased Andy didn’t suffer the Beattie-type backlash I feared after the Metalist game, and it’s important for him to know that the vast majority of us are still right behind him! I’m sick of the London-bias over the last year or so when it comes to radio football reporting. It’s either the Hammers relegation/Teves saga, the problems at Spurs, or the lauding of the Arse as the new ‘Brazil 1970’. It’s great that this contract news will shut up a club like West Ham, who think they have a history and tradition up there with the likes of us – but who have really got a fraction of it. Poach our player, would you?…Keep your jellied eels, we’re keeping our “Billy the Fish!” Let’s shut them up once and for all in the Carling Cup…hopefully! Paddock Boy. (14/11/07) Christmas Do In Oz South East Queensland Blues are having a get together for the supporters in South East Queensland Australia. Numbers are already terrific but it would be great to have more of us attend. The do is at the Pig and Whistle in the Queen St mall on the 8th of December. Everton V Fulham will be the live game on the telly. Please post my email address for so I can confirm more numbers.Thankyou for helping me with this, I appreciate it alot. Colin Murphy. (14/11/07) murfeverton@hotmail.com The Derby The team should have been Nev right back an Bainsy left back (6mil to sit on the bench?) Carsley centre mid for Jag an that's a good Everton team in my opinion. Although it would be a dilemma for any Everton gaffer to leave Stubbsy out of the 11. Maybe it was a little harsh that Faddy was left out but I can understand Moyes reasoning. Now as for Clatenburg; I thought I was being a bit biased towards Everton after watching the playback of the derby over an over. Yet after this weeks happenings an the dirty red shite ref gettin suspended I am glad that finally the FA have decided to act and it has somewhat put me at ease. Yet it cannot take away the feeling of being 'robbed' by our neighbours. For the first time in my lifetime I actually saw Everton outplay Liverpool in the derby. Even with 10 men. It was a pleasure for all Evertonians to see how far we have come under Moyes. The future looks bright for Everton fans, all that's needed is a bit of balls from Moyes to drop the lads who are letting us down every week (Hibbo, Jags, Yobo) and the front men to start bagging the goals we know they can. Roll on the Uefa cup! Jay Massie. (14/11/07) Triathlon Blue I'm
