Andy 'homesick' Johnson

I wish people would stop saying that AJ is homesick for London-He's from the midlands. D. Cummins. (29/12/07)

Chelsea Prices

Once again our great club has shot itself in the foot. Chelsea are charging £20-00 and con sessions for others, but Everton are charging full price with a £3-00 reduction for season ticket holders with all the games in the last few weeks and all the travelling wouldn't have been good for the club to show some compassion to the loyal fans. Is it me or do others think the same? Paul. Maghull Blue. (27/12/07)

Steven Pienaar

Yes, it was a silly tackle by pienaar that cost us a point at Man u. - but, he has been brilliant for the blues since he came. I would love to hear all the fans chant his name for 1 minute when he comes out to play against Bolton - to let him know that the everton supporters are right behind him!!!!!!!!! Steve. (24/12/07)

Great Era On The Way

I truly feel that this is coming to a great era for Everton football club. I had this very same feeling near the end of the 1983-84 season when Rob Wakenshaw scored the equaliser against Man Ure at Goodison and Alan Harper did the same against the Shite at Goodison. It was almost "spring" like. You could see the green shoots of a team that wasn't very far away from being a very very good one. I have that feeling once again. David Moyes now has a squad of excellent players in general. Come January, Mr Kenwright MUST fund more reinforcements and maybe offload a couple of also rans. Man Ure really struggled to break us down and we looked very positive going forward at times. So please don't take this defeat too hard! I was quite proud of the lads after the game. Keep up this level of performance and we wont go far wrong! COYB. From Tony Williams, in Walton. (24/12/07)

Man Utd Game

Well I think that it was a great game with Everton being the better side, we could have won the game if we had taken all of our chances, Yakubu didn’t play as well as the Nigerian normally does for us and Andy Johnson worked extremely hard but failed to score. Steven Pienaar made a mistake in tripping Ryan Giggs up, but he played really well today. David Moyes got the tactics right but should have played the team in a 4-5-1 formation that suits us well! We deserved to win that game but lets hope we improve for the gunners. Ben from the Wirral. (23/12/07)

Unlucky Leon!

Perhaps you will come back fit and rested for the big run-in in the second half of the season. Hopefully you’ll do even better against tiring opponents. All the best, Kieron. (19/12/07)

Christmas Wishes

Congratulations and big well done to the Chairman, Directors, Manager, Coaches and Players! We are on a terrific run, and its just a shame for Osman. Lets hope we can continue in this rich vein of form, and get results against Manure and Arseman Benders team!

For Christmas I would like Edmar (another Osman) from Larissa and Vogel......to keep our run going, and ensure at least a top 6 finish. We may need another centre back with Yobs going to African nations? Other than this Well Done to all, and a Merry Xmas and Happy big ears to all bluenoses! Mal (Trueblue)......But not holdings!

West Ham (Fuck All) vs Everton 2

It's about time we could go dawn soouuth and get a result, never mind twice in the same place in three days! We are just starting to prove what all us blues knew all a long, that we are better than those dirty bastards over the park! I had all faith that we could go down to the mighty 'Ammers twice in a week an get the results that we needed, but never in a million kopites wet dreams did I think we would dispatch those crafty cockneys so easy! The game as good as it was is a blur now, as the booze as been flowing! All I know is that once again we were put under some presure and we dealt with them world cup winning bastards. Once again the 'Yak' has been put out to graze and been well and truely fed!Considering he is as small but as wide as my arse he has bagged with his head for the second time in two league games!

Like I was saying before the ale was flowing quite a lot, so much of the second half is a blur, one thing I do remember though is AJ grabbin his third league goal of the season, a brilliant lob from a million yards. I'm still hammered now(excuse the pun)! All in all another three points, plus the quater final win, makes this another good weekend to be a blue! All we need now is THE SHITE to get twated tomorrow and it'll make it a great all round weekend! Another thing, now that they've been put in there dirty rat infested place about there new ground, can I just point out that all though they are still building on OUR PARK, they will never be part of OUR CITY! Once again sorry about the typing, but as you can probably tell im FUCKED!!! COYB FTRS!!!!!! Paul English. (16/12/07)

Carling Cup Semi

I was just thinking the last time we had a cup run like this and had a Nigerian playing up front for us we won the cup the only difference is
the name of the cup!!! Oh and the fact that the Yak is better than Amokachi!! Even if he did get us through to the final with them two goals against Spurs!!!! Maybe we'll get Spurs in the semi again and history will repeat its self!!!??
Chris Fisher. (13/12/07)

Fulham Game

3 words "the Yak Attack". Greg H Widnes. (10/12/07)

Room For Improvement

Having watched our progress in Europe thus far, I acknowledge the fact that we have made significant progress under David Moyes, but can't help feeling that we lack the fluidity of movement in our game. But for poor finishing by the Zenit forwards we could very well still be seeking qualification to the last 32.We still continue to 'hoof' the ball out of defence, only for it to immediately come back and put our back four under pressure.

The midfield still continues to underperform in the 'fetch and carry' department between defence and attack Only Arteta seems capable of finding space to receive the ball and our 'pass completion' in the Zenit match was woeful,Neville and McFly the worst culprits. If we are to be the best in any competition we could do worse than watching a couple of Arsenal videos and see how their midfield come looking for the ball,we start off each game with good intentions but invariably resort to route one football.

Carsley,Lescott and Howard are the reasons we are where we are at this time but Osman and Pienaar still need to up their consistancy levels.then maybe I'll stop gnawing my nails down to the knuckle for the last 20 minutes of every game
. Hugh Binns. (10/12/07)

The FA

Having heard the ridiculous, belated charge of improper conduct aimed at David moyes, it makes me wonder how much influence GOBSHITE Barwick has had to do with this. Don't forget this is the man who after the champions league final in Athens (VIVA MILANO). When the papers and TV were full of pictures of gobshites robbing and mugging tickets off there own fans women and kids alike came out and said in the morning news papers PLEASE DON'T CONDEM THE CLUB I LOVE. This man is C.E.O of the FA for christ sake and should be impartial. He should have held an inquiry into that lot rushing gates and forging tickets rather than defending the bastards. Which brings me back to Moysey, i have listened to the fat spanish waiter being interviewed he openly critisises the refs but does anything ever happen NO! do any ofthere players ever get done for challenges by video evidence (ugly kuyte )for example the answer is NO! They are quick to nail the likes of joey Barton (who is a blue)but why not kuyte ??? baffles me.

Moysey was very diplomatic, very honest and very calm in his interview unlike other bad loosers i can think of, so why the hell after all this time do the fa want a piece of his flesh, because he is manager of the greatest football club in the world and the comments were made against the officials in favour of the team Barwick loves. This prick has been hammered in the press lately over the England debacle so it might make him feel better himself to have a go at us as we are doing so well at the moment. Clottenberg (av got stevie G laaaas shirt ) should be on trial not given a weeks holiday. Davie should hold his head up high because what he said was the truth and pundits allover the media backed him up so and Barwick and co its time for you all to hang your suits up and fuck off back and stand on the Kop with your badges, scarves and silly flags ( thats if you know some norweigians who can get you tickets.)and leave our club alone.
Steven Ely. (05/12/07)

Advent Calender

Fantastic Advent calender, well done to Paul Corrigan! Robert Murphy. (05/12/07)

Nurnberg

Received this e-mail today from one of the german guys we met in Nurnberg, where they were fantastic and looked after us for the two days we were there, its about a newspaper coloum from Nurnberg, he has tried to translate it. but it does get the message across. I would like to share this with all Evertonians. Could you please put it on your site.

Hello from Jan Laupsien in Germany

the Nuernberg Newspaper today is writing (I will translate and try my best):

Don´t grumble today. Enjoy again for what we have to wait over 19 years. Remember the Nations who have seen our city. Rumania (Bukarest), England. And we have seen Right Englishmen! (see second row, first break):

"Right Englishmen! Famous, singing, drinking, joacking Englishmen from Liverpool, which bought the strangiest and funniest things in our magazins, which cleared out wall unit per wall unit of beer - hour per hour and which are writing until today letters of thanks to our town hall and to our newspaper for the magnificent days in our city, for the great game, for the wonderful blue night with happy Frankonians. Just these Evertonians were worth to play EuropeCup and all the points we perhaps lost because of that in Bundesliga. ...."

You see - Nuernberg is until now very proud to have had you here! And today is the time don´t to grumble and enjoy the perhaps last UEFA EuropeCup night for the next 19 years....And if we will enjoy it - and don´t hink about the Bundesliga, we perhaps can dream about ROUND OF SIXTEEEN !:-)))

Many thanks, Come on you blues!!!!!!!!!! John McGrath. (05/12/07)

Mikel Our Belle

At the Sunderland game last weekend I noticed we sing the same song about Arteta as Liverpool do about Torres. Regardless of who came up with the idea first, surely we can do better. Mikel deserves his own song (statue, street, etc.). Mikel is our beautiful player, so how about going with the old Beatles song: Mikel, our belle, these are words that go together well, our Mikel. We love you, we love you, we love you, we hope you know by now. Dum-de-de-dum, de-de-dum-dum... Sung by 40,000 it could be quite something, might also encourage him to stay. Maybe it's already been sung and rejected. Anyway, keep up the good work. Sandra. (02/12/07)

Coach

High profile ex manager coach at Godison on saturday, no other than Sammy Lee. I wonder is he sniffing around looking for a job, or is he a blue at heart just watching the boys play. Me thinks he is ahter a job. By all accounts he is a good coach well respecetd, maybe Moysey should look at him Blue nose on exile. The frozen north in Canada. Allan Jones. (25/11/07)

Pure Evertonia

Great site, lads...by far the best for any club anywhere (mind you, I don't look anywhere else!) Just a thought about being an Evertonian.

We promote cheeky, or, at time, black, humour on the surface, but we also have a deep and wide backbone of dignity and decency. This has been demonstrated already this season and it was in evidence again on Saturday. 7-1 is a brilliant result, but Moysie and the boys accepted the result like it was a tight 1-0. No crowing, no boasting, no triumphalism...imagine what a team in red might have said and how they would have reacted.

Pure Evertonia. Thanks to all at Goodison. Very Goodison. Regards, Paul Richardson. (25/11/07)

Sunderland Game

Please give our friend Pauline Williams a mention. God bless her with two grown up kids now and obviously a short memory. At half time she said to daughter Lynsey in the park end: "Why is that man on the pitch dressed as a potato?" Just checked and mine are king edwards. Paul. (25/11/07)

Mickey Blue Eyes

I have just read your piece “Gestalt in Nurnberg” Very entertaining and intellectual read, I was not able to get to Nurnberg with the blues (wife’s 40th in Vegas, great, but did not get to see the blues at all) But I did visit the stadium during the world cup for Eng v Trinidad. We were at the stadium for a couple of hours before the match, in truth I was waiting for the tout to turn up. With the tickets, who by the way were all scousers, anyway at the home end of the ground, to the left of the TV screen re the camera’s was what I was led to believe was where Hitler held the Nurnberg rallies. A huge open space with an imposing concrete stand at one end. It was fenced off and police patrolled it. But as usual some loonies had got in and were parading around giving the dreaded sign. Didn’t hang around long enough to see what happened to them but maybe you missed out on a little bit of history. Just 200 yards from where you were sat. Keep the faith. Peter Manning. (25/11/07)

Thanks To Alan Irvine

I just wanted to pass my congratulations and a message of good luck to Alan in his endeavours at Preston. In January 2005 I travelled to Liverpool (from Australia where I have lived all my life) to see Everton play. I stayed at a friend’s parents place on Sandforth Road backing onto Bellefield. During this time I was able to have a conversation with Alan through the back fence as the boys trained. I found him most courteous and gracious with his time and me being Australian even he invited through the gates so that I could meet my hero and fellow Aussie Tim Cahill. Alan probably doesn’t remember the event but I will never forget. Alan truly epitomised what it means to be the People’s Club. Travis Degen. (25/11/07)

Alan Irvine Replacement

Big Thanks to Alan Irvine and I wish him the best of luck at Preston. As for replacing him.......Ally McCoist.....Stuart McCall would fit in well. I would Have McCall, he is young and enthusiastic, been at Everton as a player and ticks all the boxes. Moyes would like him as a fellow scot! Mal (Trueblue) But not holdings. (25/11/07)

MBE (Yawn)

Nice one MBE, those political rants of yours are definitely overshadowing the purpose of this great football supporters site. For MBE read Marxist Bolshevik Evertonian. Keep it football matey!! By the way, that's a six game unbeaten run and four of those were away from home. No mean feat, regardless of some of the poorer opposition, we still have to win them...and another by the way, the media wouldn't have shut up about it yet if Tim Cahill's goal against Chelski had been scored for a 'top four' team Eddieparkend COYB (25/11/07)

Centre Half Needed

I'm getting quite nervous (I'm sure Moyesy has got it sussed but....) about the lack of centre halves. Joey's off to the African nations cup, Joleon's playing for England likely to pick up knocks there & Stubbsy's picking up injuries more often. I know Jags can play there but another centre half Moyesy is what we are crying out for come January.

May I also say that I was gutted to hear Alan Irvine's gone up the road to Preston, just hope it doesn't upset the best squad we've had in years. Keep it going lads anyway COYB!!! (25/11/07)

Feed The Yak..

Good to see Yakubu scoring. I think he'll bang 20+ this season! Get off his back!!!!! Lee Reid. (25/11/07)

Great Time

First of all just want to say a BIG thank you to Blue Kipper for the great day/night we had in Nurnberg. Very well organised and great of Joe Parkinson and Dave Watson to take the time to have some photographs with us. Thanks again keep up the good work! Nicki, Steve, John, Amanda and Lisa. The Eastham Blues.x (21/11/07)

Roll On The Next Euro Trip

My name's Gemma, and my dad and I went with blue kipper to watch Everton against Nuremberg. we just wanted to say a big thank you for giving us a truly memorable day. As well as the result, the day could not have been more perfect, it was so well organised, and the little things like the t-shirts we were given on the plane, as well as the organisation of the coaches just made it even more enjoyable. we had a fantastic time, and have recommended blue kipper to our fellow blues. thanks once again, Hopefully see you all again in Alkmaar. Gemma and Vincent. (21/11/07)

Brilliant Day

I went with Bluekipper to Nuremburg and wanted to say what an totally brilliant day it was from start to finish. It was truly unforgettable....If it's like that for a group game I can't wait for the final in May - the champagne is already on ice !! The T-shirt will make an excellent keep sake for the day. I look forward to many more trips with bluekipper. cheers. COYB. Andy. (21/11/07)

Nurenberg

The whole day was fantastic. Can't heap enough praise on the police, their fans, but more especially our fans, for a wonderful day. Cheers. Mick Hoban & Brian Temple. (21/11/07)

Missing Flag

Well, what a time was had by all. Great beer, great hosts, great food, great footy. Surely a night/s to remember for a while to come. The flag in Finnegans went walkies so if anyone knows the where abouts or if anyone found it could you let me know at tomainzy3@tiscali.co.uk. much appreciated. Thanks all. COYB! Big Tommy. Litherland. (21/11/07)

Great Trip

Thanks to all at Blue Kipper and Philosophi for organising the trip. Mark Davies. (21/11/07)

Great Time In Nuremberg

Great day and night in Germany the fans brilliant again a credit to them all. Sometimes you think the blues don't deserve the support that they get from us all. Victor the great !!!!! Yak a waste. J KINSEY. (21/11/07)

MAD DOGS AND AN ENGLISH MAN

The rather large flag ‘MAD DOGS AND AN ENGLISH MAN’ was lost during the trip. I reckon the beer had something to do with it. If any one has seen it or is in possession of it, keep it safe or return it to me. By far the biggest flag I saw over there but I had the misfortune of not getting it to the ground. Maybe it’ll turn up in Holland. Cheers, Spirit of the Blues. Gwyn Thompson. (21/11/07)

PEOPLES CLUB - THATS A LAUGH

In response to the above email, I can totally agree with his frustration and that of any other fans. Over the last few weeks the treatment of our fans has been disgusting and needs to be addressed

1. Metalist 1500 outside at kick off time due to club cock up with tickets, then allowing them all in the Upper Bullens, breaking UEFA directive on segregation and the game being delayed for the world to see on tv.

2. shite fans season tickets not being accepted at turnstiles and missing the 1st 15 minutes

3. Larissa I tried to book 5 of our normal seats with the box office only to be told that the computers were down, and to try again in 20 mins, an hour later I tried again still down, 5 times I tried and on each occasion I asked if I could buy them online, same answer each time "i don't know" why didn't they know they work in the ticket office ffs.
I even emailed the box office asking them the same question, guess what, still not had a reply that was on the 12th October, finally I managed to sort it the following day, but a mate of mine who tried the following day was told "we are only answering the phones today were not doing any tickets

4. Larissa Guess what, my ticket didn't work and I missed the 1st 12 minutes of the game queuing for a replacement along with the other 300 hundred or so that the same thing had happened to.

I bumped into Kenwright on my way to sort my ticket and verbally abused him infront of his buddies, to say he was in shock is an understatement I told him that the way this club treats its fans is a disgrace from top to bottom, I must admit I used a few swear words and I have emailed the club asking for a contact email address so that I can apologise for their use, but guess what, no reply.

This club needs someone to take us in the right direction off the field and that obviously should not include Kenwright and Wyness, can you imagine the chaos the move to a new ground is going to cause. SI. WIGAN. (21/11/07)

Short England Career

"Phil Neville believes the demands of international football will lead to an increasing number of players cutting short their England careers." They should go and work in a factory, 5 and a half days every week and for a pittance. They then play football Saturday afternoon and on Sundays.
What a bloody cheek. Mike Kendrick. (21/11/07)

The FA

Had same duplicted, so called answer from F.A re the obviously fair handed Mr C. Does any one else feel England teams in general were brought into disrepute by benitez' comments post match. Dave the Rave. Bristol. (21/11/07)

The Derby

After another abysmal showing at 'The Derby' from the so called ‘officials’ in favour of those that usually finish in the top four, I think the time has come for the rest of us to consider our positions in the Premier League. Let’s face it, the whole set up, from the champions league to domestic competitions is designed with the interests of only a tiny minority of clubs in mind. The G16 (plus one or two others like Chelsea) dictate how European football is run-this obviously means it is run in a way that best suits them. Once it became obvious that the CL made millions for those that were in it the rules got changed to make sure that the G16 and their mates were sure to get their noses in the trough every year (since ’97 only seven English clubs have got into the CL; us, Leeds, Newcastle plus the usual). Just to make sure this lot don’t suffer too much if they fuck up, then some of them can even get into the UEFA cup half way through that competition. If things don’t go as planned (like ’05 when the shite failed to qualify) the rules get changed to make sure none of them suffer anyway. Obviously when there is a chance to give any of them an advantage (like on Saturday) then tit head referees don’t think twice about ripping up the rules of football and inventing their own. If however a decision doesn’t go their way (like Chelsea vs the Shite) then they cry the fucking house down and the referee ends up being banned (who the fuck’s ever heard of that before?). In that instance the referee probably couldn’t do right for doing wrong given the two teams involved. This, together with the financial clout obtained from foreigners (maybe in this country with the exception of Arsenal), means that they are able amongst themselves to buy up any half decent players for hugely inflated fees and obscene wages just to prevent anybody else from buying them. These so called stars then sit on the bench week after week, knowing that they might occasionally get a game in the CL, or appear on Sky TV one Sunday afternoon. The rest of us meanwhile have to act as nothing but fodder to line their dirty and corrupt pockets with money. Realistically none of us have a chance of lifting a trophy at the end of the year given the way the game is currently controlled (over the last ten years 6 league cups, every FA cup, and every championship has been won by that lot). So, if they want everything for themselves, let them! I think the rest of the clubs in the premier league should give the legally required notice of our intention to leave and set up our own league to be run in the interests of football, and not a chosen few (they can fuck off if they think they can join). This same thing is probably going on all over Europe, so maybe we could encourage clubs from other countries to do the same-that way we can even have ‘european’ football competition if we want. As for the rest-who gives a fuck? I think just the threat of leaving would put the shits up them-maybe the CL would revert back to one team only-players wouldn’t be prepared to sit on benches then if they knew they weren’t going to play in the CL so would maybe be dispersed more evenly and increase the competition between teams. Something’s got to be done, we can’t carry on being conned year in, year out.! Paul Liversey. (20/11/07)

Late Write Up On The Derby

I know I promised a write up and some photos from Singapore but I'm still in shock. Last night we were in our regular hang out, and the place was packed. There were also fans from other teams like Man U, Man City, Brighton, obscure foreign teams I'm not sure I've ever heard of. And some Liverpool fans - who decided to come down to watch with us, rather than there hangout (some of them have boyfriends / hubbys etc who are Toffees - you know how it is).

I'd invited a lot of these other fans down to the Tim Cahill night we did in June, and everyone said it was the best night out they'd had (and cheers to Lavo for having a quiet word with Tim back in April - I got a bollocking over that from the Football Federation Australia!)

Anyway, I thought the reason all these other fans come along to watch with us when we're on TV is the local supporters group (mix of locals and expats) are a mad bunch of fuckers and people laugh at the antics and songs. Last night I realised it's also cos we've got some really hot babes who come along (some are actually models, and if they happen to have started supporting Everton cos of me, then hey I'm spreading the good word).

Anyway, cutting a long story short, I'm supposed to be doing some work for a local newspaper (The New Paper) which does really good footy coverage, but their Sunday Club feature (Everton) is weak. So in future I'll be providing some articles - and also want some of the stuff from your various websites (and credit / URL will be given). I'm also helping out with the TV company that broadcasts the games (24 countries in Asia - 400 million households) as they want more Everton stuff featured.

Last night when that gobshite Clattenburg, who previously I'd rated as a good, up and coming referee, was single handedly wrecking what was turning into a good, exciting game - I turned to people around me and said he's gonna fuck this - there'll be red cards and dodgy penalties - and it won't be in our favour. Sadly I was right.

But, this is the fun bit - all of the other fans (including Reds) who were there all came up after the game and said it was a travesty. At the same time I was getting SMS messages from people in Europe, Africa, Asia and the States saying words to the effect of "Mate - we know you'll be watching this with all of the fans in Singapore, and it's embarrassing".

Some of these people are journalists, TV producers and ex-pros.

So now I've emailed a load of people to get quotes that we can use later this week on a football chat show - including David Moyes, ex Referees and other officials. If I can get anything in by Wednesday morning (our time) - ESPN will use it as the main focus of their live debate in the evening.

Moyes' comments after the game demonstrated such humility. Yet again the Fat Spanish Waiter embarrassed himself and his club with idiotic statements. And these presenters will pull no punches either - Kevin Campbell, John Burridge, Joe Morrison (who front the Football Channel), and the guys at ESPN all tore into the ref after the game.

So - if any of you can use your contacts for any player, past, present or any official, just get them to drop me an email with their views - and their permission that we can broadcast it, and also quote them in the newspaper out here.

As I said to one local gobshite Liverpool fan (who naturally has never been outside the country and doesn't know what the Merseyside Derby is about) - and he decided to try to take the piss out of me on a train this morning at 6am after we left the pub.

"Yeah mate well done. A victory is a victory, no matter how hollow". The other people on the carriage were laughing at him. He got off at the next stop....Off for a pint to carry on reading the newspapers - finally they're seeing that it's not about the self-appointed big 4. Matt. (20/11/07)

Better Squad Now

The team Moyes chose against Derby was well balanced. With committed performances by all, we were able to brush aside a side that lacked any quality. I personally wouldn't waste money on Giles Barnes.

It just goes to show that we now have strength in depth and we didn't miss Hibbert and Neville. Nobody doubts their commitment, but I thought we were better without Hibbert at full back! Neville is worth his place in the side, but it showed we can cope without him also.

Its early doors, but I have eyed a couple of players, who would fit the bill with Everton in January. Edmar from Metalist, who looked a tidy midfielder in the mould of Cahill and Arteta, and I saw the Watford v C. Palace game tonight, and the young lad Johnson on loan from Middlesboro at Watford looks a good prospect! Johnson is returning to Boro soon and it may be worth putting in a bid in January. He is a flying left winger, with good dribbling skills, a decent shot and good passer, and with 'Shandy' probably on his way, I would go for Johnson from Boro!

We have a couple of winnable prem games in the next couple of weeks, and all being well, we can climb up the table to top 6 again! Mal(trueblue), but not holdings! (02/11/07)

Ref

Although the FA and Cattenburg are not commenting on the incident, Gerrard has told his 'mates' that what he said to his other 'mate' Clattenburg was "I was going to score" !! At first the Ref disagrees with him and shakes his head, bearing in mind that he has got a Yellow Card in his hand.

Once Gerrard walks past him (to retrieve the ball that Howard had threw away) Clangerburg then changes his mind, puts the Yellow away and calls Hibbert over and takes out his Red Card from his top pocket. Job well done by Gerrard !! A penalty and a Sending Off even if it was him who tripped Hibbert with his right leg. I am sure Clangerburg will come clean in his Autobiography, just like Poll who admitted that the 'goal' by Hutchinson should have stood. Another case of the Reds Cheating the Blues. Cheers. Dave Rooney. (02/11/07)

Tickets

I wonder if anybody else encountered the situation described below as a result of the recent postal strike and its effect on the distribution of derby tickets. This is a letter I have sent to the club but have not had an answer to as yet.

I purchased a ticket for the Liverpool game but, owing to the postal strike, I followed the guidance from the web site and went along to the box office on Friday afternoon to pick up my ticket. I had my credit card with me to prove I had purchased the ticket, and I also knew the seat number and block.

When I got to the kiosk I was asked for my name and the guy duly went off to search for the ticket. He could not find it but he came back and asked for my address. He still could not find it so he said "I will print you a duplicate. How many do you want?". I thought this a strange question to ask as I had only purchased one. At no point did he ask me for my method of payment or credit card.

The ticket was for my 19 year old son and he arrived early for the match and took his seat. About five minutes before the game started he was tapped on the shoulder by a man who accused my son of being in the wrong seat. The man had the original ticket and had bought it outside the ground for £50. My son was able to prove that he was in fact the son of the person who was named on the ticket. The man watched the first half of the match sitting on the steps in the Top Balcony and moved somewhere else for the second half.

My concerns re this incident are:

1. How did someone manage to get my ticket out of the ticket office without my being there?
2. How did the security system on each turnstile allow two people into the ground with the same ticket?
3. This could have turned into a very serious incident if the man had insisted that he did in fact have the correct ticket. My son could have been assaulted, ejected from the ground by a steward and not seen the game at all. After all his ticket did say "duplicate" on the top of it.
4. How many other people did this happen to? I'm sure that my experience was not the only one. The match was sold out so safety limits with regard to attendance would have been breached. If there had been a major incident and evacuation had been required the club would be liable for any breach of safety.
5. Purchasing tickets outside the ground are not in anybody's interest and steps should be taken to prevent it occurring.

I have been a supporter for 45 years and have never experienced this situation before. I believe that the club should investigate fully how this happened and take steps to prevent it happening again. I would be grateful of a reply to say that this mail has been received and another to tell me of how this situation has occurred and what steps you have taken to prevent it happening again. Regards. Colin (Wirral)
