Arsenal Game No one can deny how great a job D. M. is doing. But, I am concerned about his tactics and subs. I have to agree with John RE; Chelsea game, Nev and Cars can never be creative in midfield, and the team selection at Arsenal was never going to score goals even against the weakest Arsenal team I have seen. Our teams highest league goalscorer was Lescott, which points to me that our best tactic is to net from a set piece and hope our excellent back five don't concede (only 10 conceded since the turn of the year). Every blue knows the problem is midfield if you look at the stats it is plain to see the lack of goals and creativity. It is no wonder that the Yak has dried up and A.J. cant buy a goal with no one creating for them when was the last time you remember them missing sitters or opposition keepers being M.O.M. apart from fiorentina. Against the gunners our midfield contained Cars(1 league goal). Nev (2lg). Pein (2lg). Fern (0lg). Osman (4lg). I know you can point to injuries but even the best little spaniard has 1lg. Cahill is our only exception. I don't no why Yak was on bench when only he looks like scoring or to take off A.J. when we need a goal. I know he brought on 2 strikers. Why not leave him on and play with 3? Did he not see the week before against Villa, when they were chasing the game O'Neil put on extra forwards not take any off. All of the transfer budget this year has to be spent on quality midfielders. Some of last terms signings still baffle me. Moyes spent 6mill on a left back and then says he's too small. I don't doubt Baines quality but he's never played. We had Nuno, Roger and Nev who can all play there and then why he brought Tommy back well you tell me. toffee ed. (06/05/08) Frustrated With Performances & Results Like most blues I've been feeling frustrated the past few weeks with performances and results. It's a pity because we've done so well this year, and in the past, the amount of points we've already got would have secured us 4th spot. We've come so far since Moyes came in, and were much better now than we have been for years, the injuries, bad refereeing decisions have cost us, but our biggest concern is that if were to make the next step and become a top four side next season we need better players. Once again I'm worried with the players were linked with, Steven Reid, Joe Ledley and Stephen Carr aren't gonna move us into the top four next season, it's as simple as that. Moyes has made some great signings in the past: Cahill, Lescott, Jagielka, Howard, Arteta and Pienaar (hopefully) have all been magical, but we need some more top players or were never gonna catch the big four. I'd rather sign 2 world class players then 6 or 7 squad players, our squad is bigger now than it has been for while, and the likes of Reid, Ledley and Carr are simply not good enough. As for this season, the villa match has now become crucial and looks as though it may determine our season, I just hope were attacking enough. With Cahill and Vaughan out we've lost a lot of our spark, Pienaar is clearly not fit and Arteta has been off the boil recently, so with Carsley and Neville dead certs to start, were gonna have to rely heavily on Manny Fernandes to remind us how good he is. We could have had the 5th spot guaranteed at least by now if certain things would have gone our way, it's a farce that we haven't had a pen all season, and Johnson's disallowed 'winner' at Blackburn was also hideous. Our heads dropped after the Fiorentina exploits and sparked the lacklustre performances against Fulham, West Ham, redshite, Derby, Chelsea etc, but we've gotta put that behind us now, do Newcastle at home, then next season storm the UEFA and get top Four in the league after a couple of top signings, also please can we rest Tim Cahill and James Vaughan until they're 100% fit! My thanks to him for spending so much money, time and effort on this wonderful archive. Lets hope Everton FC do the right thing with this collection, its is after all everything that we are, if we lose our past we have no future. Colin Kirby. (06/05/08) Proud To Be A Blue Don't you just hate those negative, relenting and defeatist comments you here from the Red sh#te fans, and the unrealistic expectations of chelsea fans? ... Such a shame to hear the same stuff being written about our players on this message board by our own fans. Last few messages have all been about how cr#p our squad is, have you only just realised!! What were you expecting this season, the players have ran their (short) legs into the ground for the cause, and should be applauded as should the manager. I was at the Chelsea game too, whats the point of getting hot headed about it? If we would of ground out a win, would half these comments been made? No. In context, Would the situation been exactly the same? Yes Of course we should sign better, stronger and quicker players... but it ain't always as easy as that without a take over or champions league footy, its a reality! Intelligent buys, good managerial skills and positive hard work. The other teams and fans in the premiership respect us, I for one am very proud to be a blue. Keep your heads up and fight on. Dave - N'wch. (06/05/08) Roger's My Favourite My favourite player is Joleon lescott. I am a mad blue I have a season ticket at the Park End. I think David Moyes should buy Aaron Lennon because we need a bit of pace. In my school I skit the red noses all the time. COYB. Ste 13 from Liverpool. (06/05/08) Let's Cut To The Chase! Everyone
can see the current situation for themselves, so let's cut to the chase
- If Bill Kenwright & Co are not prepared to back Davy Messiah with
SIGNIFICANT funds during the summer, then they should stand down and
let one of the many investors, who are undoubtedly interested in our
Club, take over the reins. The supporters have ambition. The manager,
his coaching staff and the players all have ambition, and yet the Board
seem to have none, apart from being hell-bent on moving to Kirkby. The
team has clearly run out of steam, and is in grave danger of relinquishing
5th place. We've probably got the smallest squad in the Prem (and possibly
in many other divisions too!) and the way things are going, it would
be no great surprise if ours wasn't the first club to make history by
keeping the Mascot on the pitch, after the warm-up!! The Derby I
would just like to make a point that has been bothering me since the
Anfield Derby. Everton and Liverpool have always barracked each other
and given each other major stick over the years as we all know. I remember
my first Derby game with my Dad when we went in the Anfield Hotel and
enjoyed the banter red and Blues together Then of course there was the
marvellous occasion of the milk cup final with 100,000 scousers singing
merseyside together after the wembley final. At our Lowest points off
the field we have generally supported each other Who could forget standing
on the Holt end watching Everton Norwrich in the cup semifinal (After
jumping the gate ) when the electronic board lit up "Hilsborough
game abandoned " a man standing next to me saying "Our Kid's
at that game I wonder whats happened ". More Recently who can forget
the Rhys Jones Tribute at Anfield. I could go on and on. Discuss this on the NEW Message Board What Do You Think? Have your say! e-mail info@bluekipper.com e-mails index |
