We have had over 200 e-mails over the last few days. We can't use them all. Some of them were written as events unfolded. Below is a Full Page of Your views on the sacking of Smith & the beginning of the Moyes Era

We Will Not Be Patronised

It's an article of faith among so-called "football people" i.e. retired players and washed up jock commentators that they stand up for their own, no matter how awful. Just check out the solemn headshaking and pious bleatings over the Last of Wally. The flip side of this is that supporters are dismissed as "uninformed", "misinformed", "don't know the way football is", denying us any understanding of the game or even the ability to judge what we see with our own eyes. Typical of the closing of ranks and the out-pouring of sympathy that is rampant among "professional Football people" following Wally's well-justified dismissal, is this rancid piece of leftover sewage spewed by John Barnwell, the League Managers Association's chief executive. The LMA is an "old boys club" designed to ensure the continued employment of superannuated know-nothings that populate British football, people like Smith and Knox who are tactically and professionally stuck in footballs wasteland, with methods and ideas that went out with Accrington Stanley and the Long Ball philosophy.
As reported on ESPN.Soccernet Barnewell has questioned Everton's timing over the sacking of the
Disappointed One. Quote "Barnwell believes Smith could have preserved Everton's Premiership status - despite the club's recent disastrous run of one win in 13 league games." The article goes on to quote Barnewell saying 'It's very disappointing a top manager has been dismissed, and we question the timing of that dismissal. 'Everton need to find someone who will retain their Premiership status, and we would have thought Walter was the ideal person for that. Walter did an excellent job there and a lesser manager, working under the restrictions he was under, might not have kept them in Premiership for as long as he did. It comes down to money.' says the sewage-spewer. "Top manager????" "Ideal Person"????? "Excellent Job"?????? Classic cunt-of-the-month quotes here. Bluebellies everywhere know better, yet we are patronised time and again by these so-called "professional football people". What's left unsaid is that to the Barnewells of the world- and they are many,- the shame is that one of their own has been fired at the behest of the supporters, not the near-disastrous state to which said "one of their own" has led the club. "Professional" in this context
only means "paid for". We, you see, are the "mere" paying public. What do we know??????? Well, we know this....Everton need someone with ideas, ambition and passion to match that of their peerless supporters, not some time-server in it for the money. We know shite when we see it and the Smith Era, now almost over, (Knox still lurks at Bellefield) was just that...shite. One thing this clown Barnewell is right about though, the timing was all wrong......it should have happened two years ago..........

The Fat Lady

She ain’t singing yet, but if you listen quietly you can almost hear the opening bars of “Abide with me” drifting across Goodison, and the sound of the deckchairs beginning to slide.

Walter has put a huge gouge in the keel of the club, perhaps not entirely his fault, but there is no doubt that he’s been bobbing around lost in a big blue sea for to long now. Apparently cool and composed on the surface, we can now clearly see the frantic bulk of a problem under the surface, that’s now turned turtle. Now it’s time for the board to grab the helm and steer this club to port. Forget Kings Dock, the port of premiership survival is far more important.

Big Nev has suggested that Everton need to go down, in order to rebuild. What is he on????? Here’s is a club that has never known relegation, has deep pride, fanatical support, and a fantastic tradition. Would Nev rather be at Gillingham or Rotherham next year or Anfield? And what if we never come back? No doubt about it. Walter has built a great team for Div 1 football. It mainly comprises has beans and non-entities. There are of course a few jewels, but these will go the same way as Jeffers and Ball. So if we do go down, it will take a massive change in club staff and culture to avoid Div 1 mediocrity. It is then unlikely that a “quick return” will happen, and if it did, there a very strong chance that Everton will become a Watford or a Barnsley (and look were they are this week)

The fans have shown time and time again that they will dig deep and stand by the team. The team has shown time and time again that they can fight. I hate to say it but we need the dogs of war again, not the school of science, to get some quick results, but who in the team is up to it, and who will lead it. There’s talk of Moyes, but can a relatively inexperienced manager who has only known the giddying height of the Celtic youth team, Shrewsbury Town, Cambridge Utd, and Bristol City deliver?

The board needs to look deeper than that. Ex blues players have shown an amazing propensity to do well in management. There’s loads of them out there. Let’s grab one, or more. Make them an offer they can’t refuse, and how many true blues would not want to return. Reid, and Ratcliffe as a team spring to mind, but there are others.

So get your charm hat on Bill. Look at your history and for gods sake get a gag for the fat lady; quickly.

Filthy Blue Pretenders

How the fuck can these pieces of shit who call themselves Everton players sleep at night. Apart from the obvious couple who seem to still harbour a little professional pride by way of trying a little bit, the rest of the cunts seem happy to just turn up and trot around like a bunch of sulking schoolboy's when things aren't going their way.

Those spineless embarrasements from Sunday's pathetic attempt at Middlesborough should be ashamed of them'fuckin'selves. TWATS. Give your fat paycheques to the youth team as a pennance you fuckers and then FUCK OFF!

Let's get some young blue scousers in who would be prepared to die for ninety minutes in the name of Everton and all that it used to stand for.We need homeblood and passion to restore this club to where it belongs. What a fuckin mammoth task. It needs to be started now.

Joey....long suffering but true blue.(18/03/02)

Big Nev

Just heard that Big Nev Southall has been sacked from his management position (3rd division team somewhere). I hope this is just a coincidence. Matt - London. (18/03/02)

Auf Wiedersehen

I,m an exiled scouse blue living and working in Frankfurt Germany and although being in another country can somewhat buffer the pain, its still agonising to see Everton fall apart so badly this season. I watched the game against Boro in my local "Orish" pub, and was truely astonished at what I saw, enough has been said about that already.
I dont know if sacking Walter is suicide or a good thing, my opinion is leaning more to the latter at the mo!
I read that big Nev said that relegation might be a good thing for Everton, I,m in absolute disagreement. Relegation would be a disaster of epic proportions. God knows what the atomsphere is like back home, and for the fans travelling to every game, home and away, giving their support....true blues. i,m there if only in spirit and am braced roughest part of the ride yet, I believe we can do it.
Just want to finish on a happier note, bluekipper is not just the best everton site on the net, but the best footie site on the net, bar none! cheers joolz. (18/03/02)

Everton Football Club

When are Everton Football Club going to sack this imbecile! Under his stewardship we have been utterly shambolic. I have been following the club since the mid-70s and can honestly state that the current personnel is by far the worst team I have seen during this period. Consequently, I implore all decent Evertonians to act decisively and first threaten to boycott Saturday's home game against Fulham to put pressure on docile Bill and his Board of Directors. Surely this or other appropriate websites have a representative who can contact the local media TODAY, illustrating that Everton fans are very serious about airing their displeasure and intentions both locally and nationally. Should the club hierarchy fail to respond, let's turn this threat into reality and not attend the game against Fulham and subsequent home games until the tactically inept, brain dead, passionless cretin is removed from the club! A short-term appointment must be made NOW! Contrary to popular belief, there are managers out there who can take on the mantle through to the end of the season. How about George Graham, Terry Venables or closer to home, Colin Harvey and Joe Royle? Each of the above candidates is not afraid to blend youth and experience unlike the present idiot! What is £1,000,000 compensation compared to £20,000,000 loss of revenue due to relegation into Division 1.

Once again , I plea to the majority of knowledgeable fans to interact via Everton Football Club websites, particularly this one and "When Skies are Grey". Then information can be relayed between us to stay away on Saturday, should plonker have not been dismissed in the next day or so.
Yours, Phil, an extremely disgruntled Everton fan! (18/03/02)

Walter must Go

i traveled up to borough and thinking wed bang 4 against a poor side that wernt the case why smith doesnt play chadwick i dont know you can obviously tell he doesnt like youngsters you can tell by looking at the side but chadwick is boss weve got 2 good players coming up in the form of scott brown and wayne rooney but i dont think hell play them when they come up hell proberbly go out and buy pele and maradona there old enough to join us theyve only just signed on their pension and there free at the end of the day everton need a new gaffer. Hobsdaniel. (18/03/02)

Yes Smith has to go...

he's making too many dubious decisions. If we take the match against Borough for an example: Our defence hasn't let in many goals the last few months, even against some of the better teams. On sunday he changed from four defenders to three. Why? Blomqvist has been one of our better players, especially against the Hammmers in the previous game. Smith plays Rhino Arse Unsworth (who should also be sacked)or put down)) We've got young Nick Chadwick who's been scoring all season for the reserves, he's big and strong, a perfect partner for Rad. Smith plays the shortest attack force in football history - Rad
and Joe Max. It didn't work against United, and it wasn't going to work with Borough. It wouldn't have worked against our old school team. Chadwick was named as the Blue Kipper Star Man.

Alexandersson needs to go back to the Natiowide, where he belongs. Yesterday. Gazza has been one of the greatest football players in English football history. Note: has been. Smith has only ever been successful in the Scottish Premier, where the only competition is Celtic. Win the derby matches with Celtic, and you win the league.

Blue Kipper, I live in Sweden, but I'll be home for the Fulham game (must have banged me ed somewhere) See ya at the Spellow! Make sure you'vegot yer camera, I want me mug on the best web site on the Internet.
Brian Marshall. (18/03/02)

Time's running out

For the first time in forty years, this could be it. This season could be the one that sends the mighty blues into the despairing doldrums of the football league sponsored by andrex.
It galls me to say it cos I have been one of the few misguided sods who actually believed that Smiffy and Taz might be able to change things. How wrong I was. My patience is shot with watching shite football week in week out, I deserve better, WE deserve better. Time for changes on and off the field. Sorry folks but time is running out. BLUEBOY MARK

Just one wish God, 41 points

March is here and my heart can only take this so many times. My mum always said that you should learn by your mistakes, I wish Walter's mum had said the same to him. Instead she said "Sell your best players, play the shit one whose dad scored that goal against Holland and let that twat Knox train them!" Is it me or do we have too many of the same type of midfielder. Surely if old Walter has a tight budget then why buy Carsley & Linderoth when one (Linderoth more likely) would have done? Then gone and looked for someone who could push up out of midfield and, spare the thought, support the front two. The problem is who. Well Izzet wants out at Leicester and until he got injured Hutchison was on his way out of West Ham. Neither are world-class but we don't have world-class money. Although with Hutchison being injured, he would fit right back in at Bellfield. As soon as the final whistle went against West Ham the first thing I did was to look up the final run in for the other teams in the shit with us (annual event). If we play like we are all of our games look dodgy, but games against Leicester, Bolton, Blackburn and Derby are going to be very decisive. Arsenal away at the end doesn't even bare thinking about.
Something has to happen and happen quick. This sounds obvious but in the games I've seen us play in we don't break quickly (no pace), play too deeply and seem to wait for the 'one golden chance' to arrive. I don't see the Blues as often as I wish I could, and being 'daarn sarf' only makes it worse. Cheers.
Ste Hewitt (Exhiled Blue)

Survival

It is hard to believe that the Board, Management and players realise what a dire position we are in. The management are unable to motivate the players and the constant selection of midfield players who can neither show the necessary guts and fight required nor the creativity to set up goal opportunities is plain for all to see. Gravesen should be starting matches not sitting on the bench for 70 or 80 mins. Alexandersson is just a continual lightweight and we cannot afford Ginola's wages or his approach to the game. Its unlikely the Board will have the guts to change the Management at this stage. Our only hope is that the Management have the guts to select players who are prepared to fight for the survival of this club which probably means
youngsters like Chadwick, Clarke and Hibbert plus Weir, Stubbs, Gravesen, Naysmith, Unsworth, Carsley Pembrige(if they can ever get him fit!), Radzinski and Campbell/Ferguson. we have been in this position too many times in recent years but have got out of it through Campbell's goals one year and "The Dogs of War" approach another time! This is whats needed and obviously the Board won't give WS more money to spend if as seems likely they pay him off at the end of this season or god forbid he goes after we are relegated!
Please let WS come to his senses and see what is wrong before it is too late> We have four home games all winnable with the right players, guts and motivation, 12 points will be enough but we have seven days to get it sorted! Tony L. (18/03/02)

Disgust

I am disgusted about the recent performance of our so called 'players' and the motivational skills of Walter Smith. I travelled to West Ham wednesday, although I live just outside of london, it was murder getting there. I am only 16 years old and have supported everton for nearly ten years now and this is by far the worst bunch of un-devoted players I have ever seen!! Not one person on that pitch looked as though they gave a fuck whether we won or lost! David Ginola said he can do magic, well him actually trying would be a start, also Walter Smith has got to be the worst manager ever! He has got the motivational skills of a pen! Everyone outside of everton says 'Walter Smith has done a great job at everton', but I don't see how because when he came in we were struggling to avoid relegation, and we still are. I say that we should ge rid of that useless bag of shite and send him to a crap team (preferably redshite) and get back Joe Royle who actually did
something at everton, turning us from a club struggling to stay up from a club that just missed out from a european place! That performance at west ham was the worst thing I've ever seen that I tore up my ticket, which has never been done before and I've been to over 50 games! Anyone who agrees with me that Walter has to go e-mail blue kipper and we could maybe start a petition to get that bastard out of our club!

Stephen Sheehan (18/03/02)

Down Down, Deeper & Down.

How anyone can still support WS after the last few games is beyond me. Get real. And now it gets worse somebody suggests we bring back Royle. How short some peoples memories are. We were in as worse a state at the end of his reign as we are now, i.e. we have not moved on.
What happened to the money for the striker we were going to get a couple of weeks ago. And please somebody explain how Gemmill gets a game ahead of either Linderoth or Gravesen. We are doomed. I'm not sure a hammering at Boro or God forbid relegation would see the end of those tactical kingpins, WS & AK.
The only saving grace is that I'm currently living & working in Cyprus so don't see them live, thank God. Unfortunately, I can still see them on Sky or on The Premiership! Regards.
