Which Goalie?

Following the collapse of talks with Derby over Poom, I was pleased to see that the gaffer is looking elsewhere. Wright at the Arse, is good but will be expensive. Maybe we should take a second look at Alex Manninger now his move to Espanyol seems to be off. At £1m he is affordable.
Elsewhere Northern Ireland and York City keeper Alan Fetis would also be worth a look. We deffo need a new keeper, and Mr Magoo Gerrard has to go! Rob, Yorkshire Blue. (12/07/02)

It can mean [dollup hov poo ]as far as im concerned, as long as it helps to get the PEOPLE'S CLUB back where it belongs AT THE TOP. We've got to back this guy, Moyes in every way we can. Support help and CASH and all will be well. This guy nows his footy. (12/07/02)

Bellefield

I was at Bellefield to watch my school team win a cup-final. It must have been 1955, the year before I came to NZ. St. Tessy's was our side. I remember the grass was thick and green, the place exuded excellence. The school of science will come again. Call Y'self an Evertonian? Born an bred, me grandad, me dad, me back to when we started. Anderlecht Friendly

If the Blues had any sense they would tell the Belgium nomarks to shove the game up their arses, and have a friendly against Wigan or Crewe
streetendgray. (Marzy) (12/07/02)

Toffee in Madrid

Happen to be in Madrid at present, tough but someone has to do it. Had a couple of San Miguels last night and saw a shop called Futbol Futbol Futbol, selling all the usual stuff, in the window they had shirts with
Raul, Ronaldo, Vieri etc on them. So I entered the shop.

Me: Donday este la nuevo camisa "David Unsworth"?
Juan: Que?
Me: Uno camisa "David Unsworth" por favor.
Juan: Non comprende
Me: Everton. La scuola di Scienza.
Juan: No. Securidad este proximo.

Funny bloke Johnny foreigner. (12/07/02)

Joey Yobo

I work with a load of Kopites and they liked the idea of a Yobo (they pronounsed it yobbo) in an Everton shirt. But I soon wiped the smile off their faces when I pointed out the unlike their shower of shit he will be the ONLY Yobo in an Everton shirt. He who lasts last laughs longest. Martin.(12/07/02)

Jo-Yo

Well done Moyesy. Great news about Jo-Yo. It's about time we started to sign classy young players. And we beat Juve to his signature, too! What's all that crap about no-one wanting to sign for us! We'll have a great side, soon. Believe, you bastards, believe!! D. Hughes, Melbourne, Oz. (10/07/02)

Anderlecht

What's the deal with the tickets for this game. A group of friends and myself already have flights and days off work booked. Do you think it will be possible to get tickets out there. Are any of your boys heading over,
thanks. Baz. (10/07/02)

I agree we need millions of Chinese in blue shirts, BUT... I hope we get Z Cars playing everytime one of those mobile phones ring. Eric Owen. Canada. (10/07/02)

Make way for another Everton YOB!

I was at bellfield this afternoon at around 1 o'clock and saw uncle Bill (Kenwright) & Dunford driving out together. I thought it was unusual to see the two together as Kenwright is mostly always in London and with rumours of Poom and Yobo to sign perhaps Bill had been called to be used as the negotiator in to get Yobo or Poom in as he has a wonderfull way with words. Bill didnt say if Yobo or Poom were to sign but gave a wink but that could mean anything! I stud there for ages when to my suprise i seen Rob Ryles the physio and a player who i thought was the feller who is on trial but a mate is 100% sure it was Yobo and we put 2 + 2 together and believe Bill & Dunford were getting the transfer sorted and Yobo was on his way to a medical.
If this wild rumour turned out to be true if we get the nod for Poom he may have have a medical tommorow and we can get them both signed before we fly to Austria. Mere Green Laner! (10/07/02)

Bellfield

Over 40 years... since the days of Harry Catterick....
I'm not sure how old Bellfield is but it goes back before Harry Catterick was even a player! Theo Kelly was the manager when I used to watch the team training there and the players included Ted Sagar, Gordon Watson etc. Call yerself an Evertonian? Regards. Dave Barker. Auckland. New Zealand. Sponsorship and Marketing

Once again, the same discussion amongst fellow Evertonians which happens EVERY year at this time.

What is going on with the marketing of Everton. We sign (in my opinion) a lousy sponsorship of £1 million over 2 years with a unknown company who manufacture Scoreboards. I wonder if a new one will be in place this season and will they be fitting one at Kings Dock ? As a comparison, Middlesborough have signed a multi million pound sponsorship with DIAL A PHONE over 2 years. At least Dial a Phone can advertise and be advertised by Boro. We never have "tie ins" with our sponsors. I could never understand why we didnt have a special Mobile Phone Package with One to One which was specifically for Everton fans. Man U have one and Arsenal have one with O2.
Now the shirts. Okay, you are firstly going to say that we have only just announced the sponsor and we have got enough time. I think there is enough time before the start not August the 30th when they said the shirts would be out. As we have a special year this year, why didnt we sell the black shirts without a sponsor for a limited period ?
How will we market the new shirts? A big advertising campaign like the Reebok/Jim Royle ? Would ours be Puma/Ed "Stewpot" Stewart?
Walking round town on Thursday on the day the shite Kit came out, their shop was chocka with big queues outside. As we couldnt afford to open our own shop, why couldnt we take a small space in the likes of JJB and let us be accessible to the people who cannot visit Goodison Park.
In our current climate, we need all the money we can get to keep the club afloat. We cant compete with shite, Manchester Utd and Arsenal in the transfer front or season tickets. What about the club asking for the fans suggestions as to what they want ? MG. (08/07/02)

New Hope

Firstly, hope all is well at Bluekipper. Hope you English lads had a good world cup. Brazil shirts were everywhere in Wales. I of course had my Royal blues on. Anyway, three things
1) Me. I was on Welsh telly for 5 secs the other week, and had me Everton tie on, and the presenter commented on it, so 1 point to me. My mam missed it and was well pissed off.
2) New kit. Spot on, let's hope we don't get a sponsor for our centenary year in the top flight. Come on Europe!!!!
3) Ince. Once a twat always a twat. My arse went when I heard the rumour. If he wants back in the North West, let's hope he goes to the fucking conference. Anyway, keep the faith, let;s hope for a good one.
Rich. Welsh Blues. (08/07/02)

Canada Calling

Welcome from Canada, I get to see the boys is when they are on live or tape delay on Saturday, or live on Sunday on Fox sports, great web site . Last night I got to see a reruin of the 66 cup final is it me or was the game played faster as most games seem slow compared to that game? Strange thing Gordon West hardly kicked the ball down field mostly throws and bloody long ones too! Alex Young was onside for the goal and he was brought down besides that Jack Taylor did a good job, I noticed that for every corner he positioned himself on the goal line( Clive Thomas should have done that in the 78 World Cup ) . I just thought I would drop you guys a line I you want to reply it would be more than welcomed. All the best stay safe COYB

Shirt Sponsor for 2002/3.

For fuck's-sake, i can't believe that with this season being an important landmark for our beloved club, enjoying "100 years in top-flight football", the so called corporate mogals at Goodison can only attract an unknown Chinese Scoreboard manufacturer (!?) to have the honour of printing their brandname on our beloved blue ( ok, and white and black! ) shirts for only £1m over 2 fucking years.
I believe the people upstairs don't seem to realise we are still in the fucking Premiership with all the coverage in lends-perhaps they are undervaluing Everton-the question has to be asked how these idiots are portraying the club to the outside world?
I understand that i should welcome any investment into Everton-but i'm not looking forward in to the day when my Grandson (if i have one then)asks who the fuck 'Wang-Chung' or whoever are doing alongside the badge of Dixie Dean.I look forward to Dunford's 'spin' on the deal-for fuck's sake!
Regards. I.Warren. (08/07/02)

Youngest Evertonian at Goodison

My son was nearly born at Wembley when McCall equalised against the Dark Side. His first visit to Goodison was in the October of that year. His mother was passing by and as the gates were open walked in to see the last 10 minutes. James (Sydney). (08/07/02)

Are we going to sign anyone over the summer????

£5M would probably not get you Rio Ferdinand's arm these days but ther must be some young players in
the nationwide or abroad that have potential and are worth a gamble (that is all we can afford to do). I would suggest Stephen McPhail, Beni Carbone (maybe controversial but look at our creative attacking options), David Prutton, and Kenny Cunningham. Lucas Radebe is back from injury and may not get back into the Leeds side either. As for goalkeepers we could do worse than that Czech guy we're supoosed to
be after. We had a lucky escape with Gary Breen - a journeyman pro with as much pace as Stubbsie. What about the new sponsorship deal we were meant to get - another NTL????? Great site - keep it going.
Nil Satis Nisi Optimum.Brian O'Regan (Cork). (08/07/02)

Gary Breen. Don't Make Me Laugh.

Forget the underlining financial situation at Everton and ask yourself this question. Have I ever sat and watched Gary Breen at Goodison, Highfield Road or even on the telly and thought to myself he's just the player we could do with? Of course you haven't, he's another no mark who happened to have a couple of good world cup matches. £25,000 a week? Don't make me laugh. Tony Masterson. (07/07/02)

Put your Money where your Mouth is.

I was travelling back from Belfast last Friday when our man at the helm Moysey happened to sit in the seat opposite me (yes, it was an easyJet plane!). As a true blue you can't help but feel sorry for the guy. He does share the same enthusiam as us all, but with no signings on the horizion (Poom is "too much" (DM's words) and Breen has jibbed us off), it does make me cringe about our prospects for next season. As if to make it worse, we haven't even been able to manage the launch of our (should be a collectors item) 100th SEASON IN THE TOP FLIGHT KIT!!! This has been said before, but the RS would have well cashed in on it by now. Me personally, it's time for Blue Bill to put his (or someone else's) money where his mouth is and stop making our club look like a laughing stock infront of the others. In anticipation of a top tenner, Jamie. (07/07/02)

Moyes is The Man

I have been an Everton fan all my life and over in Ireland that has been tough going. I was delighted when Smith got the boot, but it should have happened sooner. I reckon that David Moyes could be as successful a manager as Martin O'Neill. Look what he achieved for Wycombe and Leister (small clubs with limited resources and fan-base). I think Moyes achievements with Preston, who were in serious trouble before he
took over, were incredible and comparable to O'Neill's, so GIVE THE MAN MONEY AND HE CAN MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. Concerned toffee. Ronan

Clydebank

I read with some sadness today about the demise of Clydebank in Scotland, due to be bought out by Airdrie
tomorrow having been given approval by the SPF to do so. This is setting a dangerous precedent for football
and I wonder if we could at least show some token support on our site for Clydebank. I wrote to them
today to give my support and received the following reply. If you could publish their website and email address for fellow blues to show support!

"Thank you for taking the time and effort to send your message, it is appreciated. As to what we can do, time is severely limited and our deadline is effectively tomorrow, Thursday. We are hopeful we can get a counter bid in to the administrators today and are keeping our fingers crossed. It does, though, create a very dangerous precedent for the Scottish (and, presumably other) League as any clubcan now fall prey to a
predator and it, effectively, sees the introduction of a franchise system. Keep your fingers crossed for us and good luck for the new season. I feel certain that David Moyes will prove to be an excellent manager for your
team. David Munro UCS Spokesman"
