Fancy Goin to Caesar's Palace Tonight?

Nottin much- just been for me tea in Caesar's palace, when 4 Chinese men walked in and sat at the table opposite, straight away I recognised Li Tie, they all looked over at me because I was wearing my new Everton shirt. After I finished me tea I went over and he stood up straight away and shook my hand I wished him good look for the season, quality lad and quality player. Paul Rimmer- Crosby. (07/09/02)

Atmosphere

Since I sent my e-mail in about the lack of atmosphere against Spurs the atmosphere against B'ham was brilliant - right through. The support was great against City with our usual 'Who the fucking hell are you..' amusing me. Best bit was the silence returned to the City fans' 'If you hate Man Utd clap your hands..' and then Everton's reply 'If you hate Man city clap your hands..' Football-wise I felt we were unlucky in both games. Dave Cooney. (07/09/02)

Megastore

Thanks for the Blue Kipper T shirts - excellent (as is the site).

Despite a great day at the Spurs game - lots of memories, nostalgia etc I have been disappointed at the lack of available merchandise to celebrate 100 years. I am an exiled scouser surrounded by people in Man U, Arsenal and Red shite shirts and I was so looking forward to walking around with 100 years plastered over my shirt so that I could take every opportunity to put people straight. The disgraceful lack of national coverage to acknowledge 100 years (imagine the fuss if it had been one of the three teams just mentioned) has meant that the vast majority of football supporters in UK don't even know about our achievement. We can do little about the national coverage but could have produced appropriate merchandise.

I just couldn't believe the lack of such items when I entered the megastore. I understand the delay with the replica shirts & the Chinese connection but there is no excuse for not producing a range of T shirts and polo shirts (not £48 replicas - just stuff ordinary people can afford) I have to say that I think the club misses a huge commercial opportunity - the megastore side of things is ordinary at best.

How about a range of T shirts along the following lines:

1. Use the Dixie Dean 100 years logo centre chest with a small Everton FC and the logo 100 years of top flight football available in royal blue, white, black

2. same idea but small logo and badge over left breast (More discrete version for those of us getting on a bit!)

3. same badge logo '100 reasons to be blue' alternative '100 reasons to feel proud' (bit naff that one but my Dad would probably buy it.

4. My favourite! A shirt along the lines of the Pepsi (lipsmackingthirstquenching..) When each word runs into the next using players names e.g.:

latchford dean ball ferguson reid
hickson southallwatson temple king
lawton sheedy weir sharp steven
harvey ratcliffe parkinson jones

embossed under this in shadow lettering would either be 100 in large digits or an Everton crest. Would be easy to add a blue kipper logo somewhere. Keep up the good work. Mike (True Blue)

Wallpapers Look Great

Great site! Keeps us exiles informed and amused - and the fish on my screen look great and are often a talking point in the office. Keep up the good work! Paul McKee. (07/09/02)

Bit of Flair

In my opinion, I think we lack flair and someone who can provide and create opportunities for our talented strikers. I use the Word talented because they are! they just 'arnt gett'n the service. Our midfield is just industrial based. We need someone who can take people on and whip one in to the box, or take them on and get in to the box and finish. RODRIGO and McLeod fit the bill. Rodrigo has the ability to shoot, beat people and score, McLeod the same, but he can cross, Provide for Campbell. My Everton 11 would be:

Wright, Hibbert, Weir, Yobo, Naysmith, Gravesen, Pembo, McLeod, Rodrigo ( behind the front two ), Radzinski
Chadwick ( when he is fit again ). Chris Sinnott. (01/09/02)

City Game

Having just returned from the game today I'd just like to write a few thoughts about the game whilst they're still fresh in my mind. I thought, I'm guessing like most Evertonians at the game, that we were very unlucky not to get a draw out the game. A wicked deflection for the first goal and an awful mistake by Gary gave them two goals which we could do nothing about.

At the same time, I was disappointed with the lack of desire on any of our players to attempt anything out of the ordinary. Mainly, this was shown in our wide players lack of ability to run at players, get past them and
deliver crosses from the by-line. The ball would keep getting to Rodrigo or Hibbert often with them in lots of space yet we would just continue to pass it across the midfield. I suppose this could come down to intelligent play in an attempt to fashion out an opening but I would much rather see players attempting to go past players. City were always going to be hard to break down once they got numbers behind the ball.

Further, I don't quite understand some of our player's insistence on playing high balls up to the Rad. He's not going to win a header when pitted against someone who is about 2ft taller than him. Fair enough if you're going to play it over the defence but a lot of balls were aimed towards the Rad where a City defender would just head it away. It evidences a complete lack of intelligence. Rant over. Michael. (01/09/02)

Maine Rd

The only good thing to come out of Today's game at man city is that it will probably be the last league game we play at Maine rd, which has been a graveyard to Everton on so many notorious occasions in the past. Why does sugar boots alexanderson still get a game, he would be better adorning the top of a Christmas tree and linderoth he's another passenger. Moyes should make Gravesen the captain then ask him to play like one. We paid dearly for a host of missed chances today and why rest Rooney when there is no fixture next week. Stubbs is pulling a cart, we need a defender with some pace for when the likes of Naysmith drops a bollock. It is hard to believe that a lot of the squad Moyes inherited is still at the club I would have liked to have seen a few player swaps ie Gemmil, Pistone, Steve Wright to name a few. It was just one of those days today but I don't want to see too many more of them. Chris Simpson. (01/09/02)

Tony Hibbert

I was at the brum game and I was delighted by two things
a) the workrate of the boys and desire
b) Tony's Hibberts performance
last year I thought Ste Wato was a sound right back who liked to get forward and no one would budge him, until I saw Hibbo He never gave up the fight on Wednesday he battled all the way and knocked the shite out of savage in the progress. I would just like to say thanks to Davy Moyes for giving him his chance and also I would like to say were would we be without big Dave weir he was also class on Wednesday.

We Need Chadders

I think wen chadders is back fit the duke and him should be upfront and the Rad just behind then at half time bring on McLeod and play him on the wing. Poor Rooney he's only 16 we need 2 look after him and get rid of dead wood like Moore and Tal there crap we are Everton we are David Moyes we are the peoples club Everton till I die. azza. 4-3-3 Me arse

After reading the e-mail about the brum game I wonder if those who wrote in about in watched the same game as me. We were awful. 433 did not work against brum because their game plan was always going to be to close the ball down and work hard. From the off we started a man down in midfield with all three midfielders working hard but with out any real end product. Li Tie looks good if naive and inexperienced at times. Tommy was running round like a man mad with out doing very little. Unsworth was average too. There was no creativity. I don't consider any of those three to be 'creative players' but believe Tommy has abit more about him. If we had five players in attack it wouldn't have mattered because the midfield created so little for Rooney, Campbell and adz that I fail to remember any real football that led to a chance in the first half. Apart from the shot that hit the post what else was really created?

I hoped that Moyesy would bring on Nic for the second half and go back to 442 but after Stubbsey was sent off (you have to look at Tommy's woeful passback) I thought we did do well to fight back against what is the worst
team in the league. Positive's to come out of the game were Rooney and Hibbert but I think we need to goo back to 442 before we drop more points that make wins at Sunderland vital and not a bonus.

Mark Welsh. (31/08/02)

A Good Start

I'll start by saying what a top website this is. Much better than the official one. You are my info line to the goings on Everton because being down south Everton get absolutely f**k all coverage unless there playing the Mancs or Arsenal. Anyway enough of my moaning. I managed to get to my first home game in years against Spurs on the opening day. It was great to get back to Goodison again and the ex-players parade made it even better although the less said about the new club song the better. My main point is this though. After the crowd were cheering for Sheedy and Sharp and all the other legends and the song was out the way, 10 mins into the game the atmosphere seemed to die. There were about 2000 spurs fans outsinging the whole stadium which was embarrassing. Why on earth were we not singing and having a bit of banter with the Spurs fans. I
would have thought that everyone there would have been really up for it being that it was our 100 top flight season, the start of Moyes' first full season and the arrival of the new players in the summer but the ground seemed strangely quiet.

Surely the players on the park can sense the atmosphere and if the fans are making noise and singing them on that is going to raise there game. We can play a massive part this season by really getting behind the team and making as much noise as we can. Goodison Park should be a ground where away teams are
intimidated by the noise and the atmosphere we create, we can be the extra player on the pitch and give us the edge. Moyes has his head screwed on and has made some excellent signings, particularly Li Tie who looked very impressive, and I really think we should be on for a top 8 place this season and with a good cup run to boot I will be smiling come May next year. I will be trying to get to as many home games as I can this season so I can play my part. As Moyes said, this is THE PEOPLES CLUB! Keep up the good work. Blue til I die, Better dead than Red. James. Missing The Mersey Air

Now that the M6 has been reduced to little more than a donkey track I can't do the journey from Oxford for the Monday and midweek matches. My good pal and reporter on the spot was observing strict radio silence and 5 Live were reporting a Birmingham win. The various websites and newspapers reported all manner of shite and four different goalscorers (two from us and two from them). At times like this I turn to the Kipper. I've just read and re-read your match report. A belter. Keep up the sterling work for those of us who don't have Mersey air filling our nostrils. Patto the formerly Toxteth Jambo Blue. (31/08/02)

Atomic Kitton

I just want to say I'm made up with the fact that Liz Mclarnon is on the front of the program against Birmingham. I think sheen absolutely gorgeous, the other Kittens are kopite gobshites!

Leave Out Stubbs

When will you realise that Stubbs is shit!!!!!!!!!!!! and costing us points and games all the time - the sooner Yobo takes over the better, last night was just another in his long line of catastrophe's...

Remember Arsenal last game of the season he cost us 2 goals and victory, which would have given us a finish 4 places higher in the league and it's £400k per placing!!!!

At least now Moyes must put Yobo in!!! Cheers. Martin Anderson. (30/08/02)

10 Men Heroics

I am writing this in work time after witnessing an heroic performance from the blues against the Brum, although I believe before and during the game that 3 points were there for the taking at the final whistle I was proud to be there to witness a valiant display of courage and fitness that was lacking under Walter Smith.

Young players namely Hibbett for me shown that he could give the team balance and heart with an injection of pace and self belief, quite a contrast from Nay neddy whom looks every bit a Smith buy. This letter is not judged on one game but rather on season after season and for me Neddy is low on confidence and all round ability.

Feel better now that is off my chest keep up the good work lads excellent reading. Wainy. (30/08/02)

Star Man

I would have thought a trivial thing like a sending off wouldn't have stopped you giving the Star Man to Stubbsey. Have you finally seen the light! Cypriot Steve. (30/08/02)

Birmingham

Good second half performance last night, especially Li Tie (If the other Li is as good as his fellow countryman, get him in sharpish). Hibbert and the boy wonder where also on top of their game. Super Kev worked very hard again without being spectacular and the Rad is looking a lot sharper this season. Obvious areas of concern are Gravesen who looks as though his mind is elsewhere, a fit Pistone is urgently required at left back and, how bad must Toby and Carsley be playing in training, for Rhino to be picked in midfield in front of them? (what was up with Pem?)

Birmingham will know that they where very fortunate to leave with a point, if they had of taken 3 it would of been a total injustice, as we where very dominant from about 20 minutes onwards. We will need a packed
midfield on Saturday, otherwise Benarbia, Foe and Berkovic will take control, maybe a game for Toby or Carsley? Also a bit of pace at the back to deal with sulky arse and Huckerby.(Yobo remember him? or Li
Weifeng will do).

Nice to hear the crowd for a change as well, please can it be like that every home fixture?
Tom Coleman. (30/08/02)

Saint Nic

can't agree more about the recent e-mail bemoaning the lack of pace, commitment and poor wing skills on the part of Saint Nick. Please Mr. Manager unload him. Mike. (30/08/02)

Brum Game

It makes a change to come out of a match and talk about the game without thinking what a pile of shite. For me young Hibbert was man of the match for a very good display especially in the first half. Li tie has now established himself in the team and looks the part. The crowd was magnificent, my mate perno reckons it's nearly as good as the sixties. One thing that struck me is how resilient this team is becoming, even with ten men we were by far the better side and never looked like giving up, the only reason Birmingham were in the game was due to the joint effort between stubsey and the ref that produced the pen. The premiership seemed too much for the ref and he should do a few more years in the nationwide. Unsey produced the goods but I don't think it will be to long before Mr. Rooney opens his account, at least the other forwards are now acknowledging he's on the pitch. It's a privilege to watch this team begin to gel together and for the first time in years I think there might be a trophy on the way. Chris Simpson. (29/08/02)

Time For Action

The time for bullshit is over. We have began so many seasons with inflated optimism, so many seasons have we thought "this year, this year its going to happen", we have seen the potential come and go. From genuinely good players like Dacourt, Matterazzi, Speed and Dunc (1st spell at the club), to bags of shite like Madar, Bakayoko (not really his fault) and not to mention the old folks home we inherited.......we have had our hopes raised and dashed within a number of months.

The difference this season is that we are not looking for a quick fix solution like other previous managers, we are building a squad for the future, not buying individuals on a wing and a prayer. For once we actually have cover for all positions. We have youngsters in the first team with a healthy mix of experience and foreign influence. Things are definitely looking up. Toffees Til I Die. Chozz, Ireland. (29/08/02)

The Big Man

I loved the guy when he first came to Goodison, he was a new legend and we all know it. But times move on and as Everton fight to ascertain there status in the premiership I'm beginning to wonder whether Dunc has had his 15 minutes. I have never known a player to be so injured so frequently, it must be tough on him but you gotta say he's an absolute weakling, how much is he costing the club a week???? I'd feel different about the whole thing if he could at least bang 10-15 goals a season away but he can't manage that and we need strikers who are capable of doing the business. We've got ourselves a good selection of strikers now, the Rad,
super, Chad, the duke I wonder if it's high time we got rid of him and reduced the wage bill, which as we know would help our finances, and gives Moysey the chance to look for some quality.
Damien Norris. (29/08/02)

Everton Shirt

I ordered my new Everton shirt on the 16th august, thinking I will receive it on the 30th . Then on Sunday the 25th browsing the Everton shop on line. I noticed the shirt 100years badge was not included it was extra, So I ordered the badge £1.50 and gave my shirt reference number , They mailed me back and told me my shirt had already been processed. So how can they charge for the badge when it states it can only be printed on the right sleeve of the new shirt, and why is this shirt for one season only, if the badge is not included. Sounds fishy to me. Chris Scott. (29/08/02)

Starvin for Success

I know that we are all doing it, but I can't help getting excited about this season. Every season we all start off with the same optimistic feelings, and come Christmas we are drowning our sorrows, struggling for survival and getting grief from our pals. But if Moysey plays his cards right, we really could be on to a winner. For a start, we are actually playing some good football for a change, no more "I'll put this on duncs head and see what happens" shit. Radzinski has got his confidence back, our defence is getting a bit of luck for a change and we actually have a decent squad if injuries/suspensions arise (and we all know they will).

Hopefully we can build on this, possibly finish in the top 8 and grow from there.....so then I can finally stop getting the shit slagged out of me for being a toffee.
EVERTON TILL I DIE Conker, Ireland.(29/08/02)

Alexandersson

Why does Moyes feel the need to play Alexandersson? I can't remember him making one tackle on Saturday. He's a shitbag who stands off instead of going in and makes it hard for them. He brings nothing to the team. He's a winger who doesn't take people on, he can't cross, he's got NO PACE, and he hardly ever get's into the box. So why play him???? Let Hibbert or Watson play the wing back role and put another man in the middle is what I think. Darren. (29/08/02)
