Duke In Team of The Tournament
As
expected The Duke was named in Euro 2004, Team Of The Tournament.
Wayne who finished up joint second top goalscorer was picked in
the team, by German World Cup Winning Legend Jurgen Klinsmann.
Jurgen
was just able to pick the side, as he is still receiving counseling,
after his breakdown, when playing for Tottenham in the 1995 FA Cup
Semi, against the Blues. When reading out the team, he had to be
helped along by an aide, as he repeatedly kept shouting out ' Ammo,
Ammo, Ammo.
Jurgen
says: "Wayne Rooney was just fantastic. He reminded
me of a kid playing in the street, he didn't care who he was playing
against. He was carefree and fearless.
The thing about someone like Rooney is he is not involved in any
political issues within the squad, like David Beckham for example.
He can just go out and play in a wonderful way." (05/07/04) |

Fell
Apart
Top
Gunner Arsene Wenger couldn't believe how shite England were when
Wayne left the pitch against Portugal.
Arsene
says:"I was surprised how much of an it made when
Rooney went off against Portugal.Everyone I spoke to said the
same thing. It is because he has such great link play, can turn,
protect the ball. Every time he has the ball, you have the minimum
of a free-kick."(30/06/04)

Last
Blue Out
Everton's
last participant in Euro 2004, went crashing out last night. Tommy
Grav and his Denmark team mates, were soundly crushed 3-0 by the
much fancied Czechs. A barrage of goals for the Czechs in the second
half, followed a first half were neither team could have hit a bulls
arse with a shovel. The Grav only showed glimpses of skill, as he
and his team mates bowed to an excellent second period of football
by the victors. The Grav was booked with ten minutes to go, when
he lost it, on possible Everton target Marek
Heinz. (28/06/04) |

The
Duke Home Today
The
Duke will return home later on today, and will immediately be seen,
by a member of the Everton medical team to assess his injury further.
It is believed Wayne has fractured a small bone in his foot, but
sources at Everton are saying it is to early to speculate on when
we may see him in action again.
The Duke was rushed to a Lisbon hospital,
whilst his team mates were being beaten 6-5 on penalties by the
host nation Portugal.
Basil
Rathbone says: "We spoke to the England medical team
throughout the night. Wayne Rooney has fractured his fifth metatarsal
in his right foot following a challenge with an opposing player
who stood on his foot. He will back in this country later today
when the England team return and will see Everton's consultant tonight
or first thing tomorrow morning. He is currently immobilised but
at the present time it is too early too say how long Wayne will
be out for."(25/06/04) |

Broken
Bone
It
all ended in heartache after England went out to Portugal 6-5
on pens. But even worse news was that Wayne has broken a bone
in his foot and he could be out for 6-8 weeks, therefore could
miss the start of the season for Everton.
Sven
says:"It's the same injury as David Beckham had
before the World Cup, he will be out for maybe a month."

I'm
Not Jealous Honest
England
Captain David Beckham has insisted that he is not jealous of Wayne
Rooney's new found star status. Becks who for years was the golden
boy of English football, has hardly merited a mention in Euro 2004,
as Wayne takes all the plaudits.
After
Becks left the press conference, insiders say he was inconsolable,
as all the questions were all about Wayne, and later on he was seen
to be sticking pins in a small Action Man sized doll. Becks best
mate Gary Neville, had to console the Real Madrid star, and was
over heard telling him, not to worry. Gary's own iconic status crumbled,
after The Chuckle Brothers disbanded last year, and his brother
Phil and himself were no longer needed at children parties, and
other family functions.
Sexy
Becks says: "I'm not a jealous person and I'm happy
Wayne's getting the attention as he deserves it. Obviously, I've
had my share of attention and I'll carry on having it, but it's
great for the nation to have someone like Wayne. It doesn't feel
odd to me at all. It's great that England has got a young talent
who is astounding not just the players but the fans at home. It's
great to have players like that for young kids and even older men
to look up to. We've definitely got that in Wayne."

| Focus
Sven
is not expecting Wayne to score evertytime he plays but he hopes
he is focused and on his game.
Sven
says:" I'm sure he'll play very well again but to
expect to score a couple of goals every game is asking too much.
Whether he scores one goal or no goals it's just important that
he is focused and concentrated."
Your
No Pele
Astute
Portuguese coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, has turned up the heat on
tonight's match, by claiming Our Wayne is no Pele. Now forgive if
I am wrong, but Pele is in his fifties and advertises products that
keeps your John Thomas ready for action, while the missus waits,
whilst Wayne is an eighteen year old hot shot, who has just took
Europe and the World by the scruff of the neck.
Luis
Figo is also coming out and having a go at Wayne by saying he eats
too many burgers. Well he has got three M.O.M.'s, four goals, and
by far he is the player of the Tournament, so I am off to Maccy
D's, for my dinner. Wayne there is only one way to shut three two
whingeing pricks up. Come on son.
Big
Phil Scolari says: "Rooney is an excellent player,
but Pele is unique. There will never be another Pele, not for a
thousand years." (24/06/04) |

Stubbsey
Flies Out To See The Duke in Action
Everton
Club Captain Alan Stubbs, has flown out to Portugal to cheer on
his team mate, and neighbour Wayne Rooney, in tomorrow night's quarter
final against host nation Portugal. Stubbsey has obviously been
tapping up his super star team mate for tickets, and Alan will be
having a quiet time of it in Portugal after flying out with a gang
of his mates from Kirkby.
One of the party who contacted bluekipper.com to
pass on the news was more excited to be sitting behind Posh in the
stands, than watching The Duke, but lets hope the TV camera's don't
settle on him, as his bosses will be wondering why he has been on
the Pat and Mick for the last week.
One
of The Party, who Shall Remain Nameless says: " I
am sitting behind Posh, and I can't wait to smell her, but if I
am on TV, I will be for the high jump" (23/06/04) |

Man

ahead of England's crucial quarter final against the host nation
tomorrow night. Ronaldo remembered fondly by all blues fans, when
he near on started a riot at Goodison earlier this year, when Man
Ure clinched a last minute winner, is telling the world how Wayne
Rooney give him a good kicking in Everton's Boxing Day defeat at
Old Trafford last year.
Knob
Jockey Ronaldo says: "I remember the tackle very well.
Sometimes when you are playing against very fast players you have
to do some fouls to stop them. I don't want to get involved in a
personal fight. I think Wayne's a wonderful player. But the Portugal
team are not afraid of anybody, not France, not Spain not England."

Everton
Midfielders Through To Knockout
Sweden
and Denmark both qualified last night for the knockout stages, so
that means Everton's Tommy Grav, and Toby Linderoth, both live to
fight another day. Although Toby was banned from last night's two
all draw, he will be made up to get one over his Goodison team mate,
in finishing top of the group. The Grav was instrumental throughout
the match, setting up Jon Dahl Thomasson's belter of an opener.
The two all draw meant, that whatever the Italians result was, they
would be going home early. Their case though was not helped when
ex Everton misfit Marco Materazzi, gave away a daft penalty to gift
the Bulgarians the lead. The Azzuri did come back though to win
two one, but it is Arreverdci Roma. Good hey (23/06/04) |

Lights Up Europe
The
Duke scored his 4th goal of Euro 04 to go straight to the top
of the tournament's leading Goalscorer List. He scored 2 in England's
4-2 win over Croatia. He left to a standing ovation, when he was
subbed with 15 mins to go. The way things were going he could
have scored more if Sven hadn't have taken him off. The media
has gone bonkers again. Just remember he's an Evertonian and plays
for Everton. (22/06/04)

Game
Former
Everton & England Icon Peter Reid has come to the defence of
The Duke. With the Croatian boss winding things up and hoping to
get Wayne sent off.
Reidy
says: "On that international football stage, nothing
fazes him. He's got a ruthlessness about him in his play. Some people
say he needs to curb his enthusiasm, but I think once you do that
you take a little bit of the player away from him. In international
football you've got very clever players who might try to wind Wayne
up but it's part of his learning process and he's handled it really
well."
Croatian
coach Otto Baric says: "I believe we have a way to
stop him. He collects yellow cards - and, let's hope, a red one.
If it were to happen against Croatia, then so be it. He is a very
good player. He's a robust player and a fighter. Where he runs,
he shows no mercy. Sometimes he plays unfairly - with his elbows
everywhere. It is a style without fear - and dangerous."

Tommy
put in a tremendous performance in the 2-0 victory over Bulgaria,
his brilliant through ball brought Denmark's first goal. He now
can't wait for the big game against Sweden. Wait for the 50/50
with Toby.
Tommy
says:"In the European championship there are no
friends and we will definitely take no prisoners. If we lose the
next game we're out. But I think the team we have is tactically
and physically very tuned into the tournament. We showed those
qualities against Italy in playing a good game and brought it
together to beat Bulgaria." (19/06/04)

Praise
The
Wayne Rooney Road Show just gets better and better. After another
brilliant performance from Everton's centre- forward for England,
the praise comes by the bucket load. Here's what they had to say
after the game.
John
Terry: "He's unbelievable. He's not affected by
anything. He looks forward to coming into games and the bigger
the game the better the player he can be. He rises to the occasion.
We see that in training. It is unbelievable some of the things
he does and he is a nightmare to mark. I don't know if we could
afford him now. Let's hope we can. I'd love to get him."
Frank
Lampard:"Wayne was fantastic today. You can't say
enough about him at the moment, the way he is playing. He was
great against France he showed that he can score goals today.
There is no fear about him and the way he plays is very exciting.
His character is really unique. Not only has he got the ability,
he has got the character to go out there and not be scared of
anyone. That is just amazing for an 18 year old. I think he is
really special."
David
Beckham: "Wayne is the competition's youngest scorer
and he deserves it because he worked hard and played well after
also playing well against France. He's one of the players tonight
who showed maturity.
He was booked and when you get booked as an 18-year-old you can
go out of the game or fight back and he fought back. Brilliant."
Sven:"Two
beautiful goals, 18 years old, with this performance at this level,
it's incredible."
Wayne
Rooney:"The first one Michael put it right on my
head and for the second I just hit it hard as I could and luckily
enough it went in. It's a relief after the France game. We're
back on track now and we've got to go on and win the next match."

Wayne
Celebrates His Historic Goal
|
Youngest
At
18 years and 236 days, Wayne became the youngest player to score
in a European Championship finals when he headed England into
first half 1-0 lead against the Swiss. He wasn't finished there,
he added a second after 75 minutes when a whopper of a shot went
in off the post onto the goalie and into the back of the net.
Sell him at your peril, Bill.
England
went on to record a 3-0 win, the No.4 scoring England's third.

Speed
Everton
Legend Colin Harvey, who coached Wayne through the youth ranks
at Everton, knew he was going to make it to the top, but didn't
it would be so quick.
The
White Pele says: "I thought he did really well against
France, all he lacked was the goal his performance merited. He
certainly deserved one and that would have rounded off the night
for him. All things being equal I never thought there would be
a doubt about him playing for England. He was the top talent of
his age in the country at every age group he was involved in,
I am just a little bit surprised at the speed of it all."

Wait
Tommy
Grav may have to be satisfied with a place on the bench on for
Friday's game against Bulgaria. After Denmark's impressive display
in the goalless draw with Italy, coach Morten Olsen may keep the
same team.
Olsen
says: "I have to admit that it is difficult to name
the team. I must admit that in fact I am in doubt about Gravesen.
He may not be willing to wait any longer to play, but maybe he
will have to."
In
the meantime Tommy was unhappy with Totti spitting at teammate
Poulsen. Tommy would rather smeg his teamates instead. We luv
yer Tommy.
Grav
says: "Totti was just running around and spitting
at Poulsen. That's just not on." (17/06/04)

Brilliant
Experience
Wayne
is chuffed to bits that he is out in Portugal with Europe's top
players and he is hoping for his first goal of Euro 2004.
Wayne
says: "It's been brilliant being out here among
the best players in Europe. It's a brilliant experience for me
being such a young age and it can only benefit my game.
"Obviously
looking back in years to come it would be a big thing for me to
score, but I just want to win the game for England. I don't care
who scores." (16/06/04)

Dangerman
Wayne
is the biggest danger to Switzerland for Thursday's game according
to the Under-21's coach, who watched the France game on Sunday.
Bernard
Challandes says: "The one who has impressed me the
most was Wayne Rooney. He is very a interesting and dangerous
player.. For me, Rooney is a big problem for Switzerland. It is
difficult to predict what he will do. He floats between the midfield
and attack which makes him very difficult to pick up." (16/06/04)

David
Moyes watched Wayne's impressive display on Sunday and believes
it is a big boost for Everton.

good for Everton and especially good for the boy himself. He handled
the whole occasion well and looked mature throughout." (15/06/04)

Toby
was involved in the 1st goal, in Sweden's 5-0 win over Bulgaria.
He did well playing in a holding role in front of the defence.
He also saw the Everton flag on the half way line.
Toby says: "I expected lots of Swedish flags, but
was surprised to see the Everton one. I hope they were supporting
me" (15/06/04)

Robbed
Sven
thought it was the correct decision to bring Wayne off.
Sven
says: "Wayne Rooney tired but he had a good run
to win the penalty and he always looked dangerous. He had been
working extremely hard and he was very very good. He had worked
very hard to help the midfield dropping back when we defended.
When there are 15 minutes to go , I think you should change."
(14/06/04)
England
lost 2-1 with France scoring two goals in stoppage time. England
led at half time through a Frank Lampard header. With 20 minutes
left England could have made it safe after a brilliant run from
our Wayne ended with Mikael Silvestre fouling him in the box for
a penalty. Dr.Evil saved Beck's pen.
Wayne
was subbed after 75 minutes, he was given a standing ovation from
the crowd after a brilliant display. It is a pity he never had
anyone up front to play with. Two mistakes by ex shite Emile and
shite Gerrard let Zidane break England hearts.

I'm
Ready
Wayne
is ready and raring to go for the biggest game in his short International
career.
England's
No.9 says: "France are a big team, but as a young
lad you want to play against the best. I'm looking forward to
it. When I first got into the squad, the manager just told me
to go out there and play my own game and to enjoy it. It's probably
the biggest game of my career, but we have to prepare ourselves
right and get out there."
"There
is a lot of expectation, but we have got a good enough squad to
go and there and challenge to win it." (13/06/04)
