Enough of Them Negative Waves

Some added comments addressed to Blue Bill in addition to Eric's excellent assessment.

OK so this season has been a disappointment, but is this a reason for all the doom & gloom around EFC at the moment? Let's look at the positive facts first. We're still in with a shout of a Europa place. We're playing good football, just not scoring enough and last summer although there were not many new signings of note, the effort and money was spent on keeping our current squad.

Last August before a ball was kicked we were happy with this. Bill, you have shown a lot of faith in Moyes and he in turn has been extremely well paid for the excellent job he has done. Did I read once that his 5 year deal was worth 4m per annum? Well good for him, he's been worth every penny.

Moyes is our hero, he has everyone's backing (or at least should) and he is not to blame for the clubs finances, unlike the fat Spanish waiter's legacy.

Now the negative. Before Christmas, on this website and several others, were many posts asking Pienaar to sign a contract extension or do one. He eventually leaves are we're depressed. Why? Ok he did well for us but it's just one player.

Yak left, again we're all depressed and I don't understand why. He hasn't been the same since his Achilles injury so I was glad to hear he was going. We could do without the expense of a well paid bench warmer.

Let Chelsea and Arsenal and Man U admire our better players. All clubs admire other players, all fans do the same. Can we just get back to supporting our team? The more we do on the pitch, the better the future will be.

In the short term, our future is fine. Being short on cash is not news; it's been that way since 1991. As Donald Sutherland said in Kelly's Hero's, "enough with them negative waves.

Kellys heroes, what an awesome film. After this season, the onus in on Moyes and the Squad to get us going. Not the other way round. Blind loyalty gets you nowhere, unless your a soldier it usually gets you killed.

As long as the fans stay positive and get behind the team, this season should finish on a positive note. If we start to get nervous in the stands then that will transpire to the players on the pitch and confidence will take a nose dive. We all have an important part to play until May so let's get behind the players and staff and then take stock in the summer. Anything could happen between now and then

Nobody expects us to be pleased with the way the season has gone it has undoubtedly been a disappointment. I think Tommy's just trying to say to draw a line under the negativity and just for the rest of the season support the team and really get behind them and see what we can do. Maybe finish above the RS and then in the summer we can see what happens in terms if investment and signing players etc.

It is not about being negative. It's about standing together and asking the question. Blue Kipper eludes to this season being not bad. I totally and utterly disagree. In the summer I sensed real optimism around the club and its supporters. The season ahead looked full of promise with the likelihood of Seamus breaking into the team, Rodwell developing, The Yak getting back to what he does best and I had high hopes of the club moving forward both on the field and off it. The reality is that we have seen none of it. Moreover we have had to let quality players move on to rival teams and shift down divisions and it has been a poor, poor season. Another year without a cup, another year without the prospect of investments and some dire, woeful performances. Moyes at times is baffling ( but we love him ) Kenwright doesn't speak up enough and when he does he says the wrong things and this is why we reflect those negative waves because there is little to be positive about. Last summer was full of hope but I think that this coming summer will be full of doubt and again weeks and months of Blue Kipper telling us who we are going to buy but consistently being wide of the mark. We are not negative. We are typical of football fans the world over. If you sit back and keep looking at the dawn saying " it's going to be a lovely day" you are likely to be let down. You must fight for change, we must try collectively to move the club forward and we are not negative. We can see where improvement can be made, we know when we must challenge what is happening to our beloved club and finally when Merlin, South Wales says " everyone is being negative" he is talking sh**e, quite frankly. His contribution to the argument / discussion about Kenwrights comments was to come on BK and say stop being negative. A fantastic contribution to moving our club forward. Well done Merlin..any more pearls of wisdom. Give Bill a ring and tell him you've cracked the answer to the universe.

In with a shout of a Europa place? We would have to finish 5th! We've more chance of winning the Fair Play league.. Still, I agree with a lot of what you say and I for one would be happy to see Heitinga, Yak and Billy sold if Moyesy was given the money to buy say King and Eagles.
