Bent or His Ilk For Everton

Just watched our away defeat at Man Utd on the box and what we are missing is a quality front man. I log on to BK a few times a week and I agree with a lot of the sentiments I read on your board and your comments page, if we get a front man we would be a different proposition.

I have Jeff Stelling and his crew on TV at the moment and once again when they go to Villa Park I just know Darren Bent has netted for Villa.

My point is that Villa knew they had a scoring problem, and they went to a club like Sunderland and paid through the nose for a proven front man who has now scored nearly twenty goals this season. Every season he seems to do so, and Sunderland has not been the same side since he left.

Now I am rattling on I know that, but my point is after watching Billy, Victor and co., perform once again so dismally today, why don't we couple those two with Heitinga to bring in around £20m to finance a top draw front man.

If we do, believe me we will be ten points better off next season than we are this season. Our defence is one of the best in the top flight, and with Felliani, Rodwell, Coleman and co. in the middle we have a midfield most teams would love to have. Our front line for many a year now has been below average and until we bring a Bent or his ilk in, we will continue to struggle for goals.

C'mon Moyesy if you have to sell to buy, do it and go get our own Darren Bent for Everton Football Club.

End of rant

Maybe we are looking to far afield at players in other teams,When we should be looking in our own backyard. We have a good few players in the reserves & youth squad that may be worth a place & we don't have to spend millions to get them. Admittedly a striker dosn't come to mind but we have some great prospects & it may be the right time to give them a chance Obviously some supporters dont keep thier eye on the youth & reserve team results & stats. Personally I'd like to sign Cristiano Ronaldo. Unfortunately I haven't got the money and nobody I know has.

Has everyone forgot about proven goalscorer Jame Beattie! Imagine if Villa paid the money and he failed like Beattie, (or Heitinga for that matter), hmm! Not only that, can Villa afford to keep him with an ill manager and being so close to relegation? Who are they gona sell to keep him? Unless you have a shedload of money like Chelski or Shitteh, it's not that easy I think Moyes will get rid of a few though, he knows the players, we just need a blue with some money to help.....quick!

i think a good alternative to Bent would be Odemwingy from west brom he has proved he can score goals and also has good link play, he would cost a lot less than Bent and looks like he would fit our style of play, also the nearest thing I have seen to Peter Reid, David Vaughan from Blackpool would also be a good buy he plays his football with passion is a ball winner and can see a pass and would not cost the earth. I think we have to face facts that not all of the money from the sales of players will be moyseys to spend, Victor, Billy Johnny, Jobo and the Yak will be no loss if we can keep the rest of the squad together.

United paid £6m for Hernandez and he caused us no end of trouble on Saturday. Meanwhile, at the other end, Beckford was so ineffective it was embarrassing. I'm not a big fan of Victor's but at least he gave Ferdinand and Co something to do in the second half.

Yes we need a new striker but I still can't understand why he allowed vaughn out on loan. Puts 3 times the work rate of any of the other strikers and gets in the right positions.

Remember we bought our Darren Bebt a few years ago. Now he is playing on loan in the championship. Feed the Yak and he wont score any more.

Billy is playing below average but I guess you still have to give him the benefit of the doubt with adapting to the prem. He's scored some absolute screamers with that left boot and he does work most of the time, although admittedly he is rather poor in the past 2 or so games. Anichebe needs to go, Heitinga will go, Vaughan puts in a shift but doesn't really seem good enough for a top 6 challenger at least, more a mid to low table or top championship striker. Saha can be brilliant at times but is injury plagued and doesn't always hit the net. But he's 32 now and he isn't going to have many more games worthy of top premiership quality, not with his injury list. We do have Joao Silva out on loan. He's only 20 but I haven'tt seen anything about him or know if he's decent. As always, with no injuries, our team is solid up to the front man. It's not rocket science that we need a solid front man though.

If I were Moysey (thankfully for you lot I'm not!) I would have a clearout this summer. OUT-Heitinga £6m, Yakubu £5m, Vaughan £1.5m, Anichebe £500k, Billy £8m, Yobo £4m and the controversial ones Rodwell £20m+ and Baines £10m + Part exchange for Wayne Bridge. This would mean we were down four players on our current team but we would have a healthy £50m to spend on 5-6 players including a top class striker to partner Becks. I figure its only a matter of time before the press and a fat pay cheque take Bainesy and Rodders from us. I would hate to see them leave but its better to cash in while their stock is high and re-invest the money on the striker we desperately need and a replacement for Pienaar (though we may already have that in Gueye). Right now were treading water. With £50m to spend we could add those extra elements were lacking.

I agree with Billy, Anichebe is gash, when he STROLLED onto the pitch after half time I was fuming. Says everything about that lad, his attitude stinks and he thinks he's a class act, the sooner we get rid (even on a swap would do) the better.

Everyone knows we need a striker who will chase get stuck in stay on his feet and stay injury free my bet is moyes will come out in the summer and say this is the best squad hes ever had bullshit this season them players have made a mockery of moyes and when players like anichebe get in the team the fans become even more dissillusioned hopefully we will sell the fringe players and splash out on a decent striker i would like pavlychenko but we will probably be shopping in the championship thought he should have brought vellios on instead of anichebe the two times ive seen him he looks like he,s hungry so why give anichebe game time no one likes him.

i agree we need a top striker but selling heitinga billy yak yobo etc to buy one striker- all be it top notch,hopefully- would be far to risky for a club with our luck. with all our eggs in one basket and all our hopes on one player you know what would happen first game of season...

We tried to get someone like Darren Bent once before and ended up with Marcus Bent! Be careful what you wish for - the similarity began and ended with the name!

Irrespective of what we do with any money we might get for Anichebe,Heitinga Biiy and Vaughan these players must be sold, even if it's to help service the debt, they are patently not good enough.

Villa had to sell Barry and Milner to buy Bent and then they struggled against relegation. Is that what you want?

I have to agree. Victor is just not up to it. I have never seen such a big unit go down and stay down wants he's touched. He is never hurt but he stays down instead of getting up and getting on with the game. I nearly burst a blood vessel shouting at him. He does my cake in

Totally agree with Trevor, We should get rid of all the fringe players (Anichebe, Vaughan, Yakubu, Yobo) and those not wanting to play i.e. Heitinga and use that money to get a top drawer striker(s) in as soon as possible. There are plenty out there in the German, Dutch, Belgian and French leagues who won't cost as much as they do in England! Why not go for someone like Podolski or Vossen? or both?! If we sort this position out I really do believe we can go for the top four spots.

I'd sell Yobo £4 m, Heitinga £6 m, Billy £6 m, Vaughan £1 m, Anichebe £1,000 and with that bid for Defoe! Proven goalscorer or if Billy wants to go back 2 Russia offer him plus cash for Vagner Love
