Everton Become So Predictable

The months between the middle of May and the end of November, can be split down in to 3 sections. Every year without fail.

Section 1
Everton finish the back end of the season with a flourish, narrowly missing out on Europe after a slow start to a season that promised so much.

Section 2
Everton players and fans a like go away for the summer with a spring in there step and an aire of optimism for the summer ahead. Quietly confident that the next season is the season, DM does actually do his business early and spends some cash on quality. But as the summer goes on the players linked to Everton in the press sound less and less impressive, we start with a World cup & Golden boot winner and end up being linked with a journey men and playoff loser!

Section 3
With the transfer window drawing to an end and the list of players turning down Everton being greater than the number on the books, panic buying sets in. Yet confidence remains high after a couple good performances against lower league clubs.

Day one of the season comes around as does the first defeat of the season, which will be a trend for the next 14 games, whilst the players & DM get back up to speed and forget that it's no longer pre season. But the start of another campaign that promised so much!

Guy. Goa.

Can anyone tell me the name of anyone other than Kenwright who has come forward to buy the club. I get tired of people telling him to sell up, but with due respect to our club we do not appear to have anyone who wants to buy us. All the people who have bought into Premier League Clubs let it be known what they were doing before the event. I for one do not feel there are queues of billionaires waiting to take us over, if there was one of them, by now, would surely have been in the press saying so. The second lot of cowboys at the shite were very upfront about replacing the first lot. Makes you think.

We can not afford to sell. The squad to small as it is. Keep them all and build on it and add to it with young lads and look to the future and stop moaning and encourage the manager to stay and stop highlighting our lack of funds .

The most predictable thing in any close season is that the moaners will turn up like the bunch of cranks they are.

There is too much negativity on here. I believe if we can make some big signings (the likes of Walcott and Stephen Ireland) we will be a major force next season!!

Been a season ticket holder for the past 20 years and have finally gave it up (which was hard). I am tired of seeing the progression made in mainly second half of the league campaigns only for it to be undermined year in year out by not adding 2/3 decent players to take us to the next level and inevitably selling our better players to raise funds. We have been crying out for pace in the side for years. I think Nzogbia would be a great buy, but who do we sell to buy him? Rodwell, Fellaini, Baines.

All of the media rumour mongering, usually bullsh*t regarding transfers goes way over my 'ead. Keep the faith and trust in Moyesy and the lads that want to wear the shirt and any new faces that come in. I try to be realistic about it all. We're skint, but we're blue. Whinging and fretting about hypothetical scenarios is counter productive. We all know that we're short in some areas of the pitch and we do wait with baited breath to see who's going so that we can bring in new blood. But, we do have a decent squad, that can compete at the top end next season. Keep the faith Eddieparkend COYB

I love my club but Guy is right. I am also sick of the usual deluded, fantasy land of the 'Keep the faith','Get behind the team','Cheer the boys' brigade. Sorry. I've spent enough money and put in enough effort in to supporting my club, to expect something, anything positive from it.(Kenwright & the Billionaire board). I have a sense of perspective & reality, unlike some who think this is Merry olde world of Oz. Get a grip and voice your frustration instead of saying everything is rosey at Everton. It ain't.

Howie, you're having a moan about rumours and you're doing exactly what fuels them, listening to them and talking about them. Moyes has said time and time again don't pay any attention unless I say so. What part of that don't you understand? You're having a whinge about something completely of your own making and nothing to do with the club. Be quiet mate.

Sick in the pit of my stomach. We all know, "an if ya know yer istory", same story every summer. Stupid rumours, Sturridge, Ngzogbia, Klose, same old names Elm, Defour, waiting for Moutinio next, all to fool us into season tickets(i am one anyway), new shirts etc. When i read about Wes Brown it was like a punch from a redneck into the pit of my stomach. Surely it can't be true. We all know we need strikers, left and right sided midf, and here we are being linked to a now poor player, who was half decent a few years ago, and he's a centre back. What is going on. god i hate our summers they are so gut wrenching!!!

Frustrating time but we have a good, solid squad and Beckford will only get better after the experience of his first season. I will be interested to see if Barkley comes good - has anyone seen him play - how good is he? I agree Jack should be sold unless Felli asks to go(heaven forbid). If Mikel can sort himself out and return to his best form, then with a good start we should have a decent season. With a goalscorer bought by selling Jack. It could be a very good one! Need to stay grounded - We don't have any reserves of cash to spend, and no-one appears interested in buying us cos to develop the club we need a new ground,so £100m to buy the club,£48m debt to service and £300m(say)for a new ground with only £12m from the sale of Goodison, puts us out of reach of the run of the mill multi-millionaire - as BK says we need a billionaire and none of those sniffing around clubs seem interested in us. Just remember, if Peter Johnson had stayed in charge we would have been relegated so the current board has done a good job.

Yep 100% on the money (if we had any). I eagerly watch 'News Now Everton' for the latest updates (think I'll sue under Trades Description Act as there never is any) for that eagerly awaited big transfer news. We can't even sell anyone without some major problems in order to raise any funds. Never mind, 7 weeks to go until we lead from the back. Wouldn't trade it for the world - COYB!

Does anybody know if any if the squad or staff frequent here? Because now that someone has put it into black and white the same pattern that the last few seasons have followed, we might be able to so something about it before it happens again. The most disappointing thing is that if we started the last few seasons the way we finished them, we would have been guaranteed a Champions League spot, if not actually challenging for the title. Let's hope we can hit the ground running next season and not wait til the smell of Christmas turkey is in the air before we start to play to our potential.

Cheers Guy, that cheered me right up!! I'm not saying that the blues will win the title next season. We need signings, we need to keep hold of the core of this squad, we need money, we need a decent start away to Spurs.... This team proved last season that they could compete with the best in the league. Let's not consign ourselves to mediocrity before the pre-season even starts. There's a lot of work to do before Everton are a regular CL side (no sh1t, right?) but you've got to stay positive because that will be the aim of Moysey, the team and the fans. We might not have the money and we might have to sell a few but you know as well as I do that come the start of next season all of us as one will be full of anticipation (if not expectation) and excitement, praying for that away win against Spurs. If I didn't have that I'd walk away and take up DIY. I'll tell you one thing Guy next season will be more exciting than putting up shelves for the Mrs. Keep the faith mate. IMWT

You read my mind... Really hope we sell Rodwell and make some money.. I'm sorry, but I don't think we should keep waiting for the lad to show potential. Yes, he is two footed and looks classy on the pitch, but I don't think he's developing at all. Use the money (prob on £15m now) to buy a top class forward, someone that can bang in 15 PL goals. We have sufficient depth around the rest of the team to cope if we get a couple of loan signings in and no one else leaves.

1 - Everton finish the season with a flourish as the struggling teams have to open up as they need the points. They dont come to Goodison and park the bus like they do at the start, playing for a draw or to to nick the points. 2 - there is no optimism this closed season, we are in a mess and we know it. 3- there wont be any panic buying, as other than shipping players out who want to leave, I can only see one maybe two players coming in, who I think we already know about - N,Zogbia and Boothroyd. As for getting excited after spanking a few league one and two teams on friendlies, the game is up with that one. The fans have realised that we need to play quality closed season and get a proper run out to test the squad.
