Bill Atkinson R.I.P.

Sadly my Step-Dad William "Bill" Atkinson passed away after a fight with Leukaemia on Tuesday the 31st of May. He was 62.

Bill was a former season ticket holder in the Top Balcony and in more recent years had sat in the Lower Gwladys whenever he went to Goodison.

Our last game together was the 2-1 win over Fulham in March. Myself, Shane, John, & Steve had travelled down from Scarborough for the match and were fortunate enough to get several good hours in at the Spellow first.

Whilst I wish it wasn't his last game, at least he went out with a win. I will always be grateful for our shared loved of Everton, he took me to my first game and we shared many great memories watching the mighty Blues down the years.

I'll keep this brief as he wasn't one for much fuss, suffice to say I was proud to know him and I know how he was proud to be a blue. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and though he is gone, he will never be forgotten. Martin Plant

Thanks for all the kind comments here, the family have read them together this morning and all your thoughts are much appreciated. His funeral was yesterday and we gave him a fitting send off. One of his work colleagues, Dave, made a joke about Bill being a football man through and through and his love for Liverpool. The time before he said "Sorry, I mean Everton." was a bit long for my liking but it was all in good spirits. Also got to comment on my Mum who just issued the florist with the instructions for the flowers to be "Blue and white with absolutely no red", making sure he was a true blue to the end.

Nicely worded Martin, here's to him swapping stories about the Blues with Bally, Labby and all the other good and great Blues who have passed.
