Everton legend Alex Parker has died today after a heart attack aged 74. Alex was a skilful right back, who played 220 games for Everton in the 50's and 60's scoring 5 goals. He was part of the great Everton team, which won the 1962-63 Championship. Alex won 15 Scottish caps. After leaving Everton, he joined Southport and later became a pub manager in Runcorn before moving back to Scotland where he continued in the pub trade in Gretna. In 2008 Alex along with his wife Irene, attended the ICON dinner for his great friend Alex Young. In June last year he was seriously ill and had a leg amputated. A great player and also a though gentleman. Condolences to Irene and all of Alex's family and friends from all at Blue Kipper.

Wonderful player. One well-known manager of the period stated that had he Parker and Wilson as fullbacks, his team would win the First Division. Harry Catterick proved this true with that supremely gifted team of which Alex Parker was an important part. Condolences to his family.

I had the pleasure of watching Alex throughout his illustrious Everton career. He was a great player and the finest exponent of the sliding tackle I have ever seen.RIP.

Met him at the Adelphi do in 2008. He was a real gentleman and showed great humility in telling of the roasting he got from Tom Finney when playing for Scotland. My dad reckoned Alex was the best right back the blues had. Rest in peace Alex.

Never met him but my dad spoke so fondly of the days he spent with Alex at Falkirk and Everton. Condolences to your sons Tony and the late Paul xx
