The England Rugby World Cup Winner was born in Birkenhead. It just goes to show that Everton can no longer be labeled as the discriminating club it used to be.
Not many football families would welcome a man who's famous for grappling with other men and handling odd shaped balls. The toffees were always prominent in the Dawson household - his Dad Les used to eat them by the kilo.
After a fantastic Rugby Union career during which he gained 77 England Caps and completed 3 tours with the British Lions, Matt splits his time between commentating for the BBC and captaining one of the teams on 'A Question of Sport' (were he replaced another Evertonian, John Parrott).
Unfortunately he let the side down by wearing lycra and prancing about in front of 15million or so viewers on a weekly basis on 'Strictly Come Dancing'. That said, he finished second, just behind Mark Ramprakash, a supporter of the Arse. I rest my case.
