When a manager in Harry Catterick's mould christens someone "The Last of the Corinthians" surely must sum up what a great player this man was. He made 458 Everton appearances and also won 26 Englans caps and would have won a lot more only to be denied by Leeds United's Jack Charlton.
Labone captained Everton as he lifted the FA Cup beating the Owls of Sheffield Wednesday 3-2 after a staggering comeback trailing by 2 goals and give us our first FA Cup final victory since 1933. He was also the captain of the great side that won the championship in 1969/70.
Labone later went on to work for Everton later on in his life before he suddenly passed away in 2006.
This Corinthian was then added to my body with space left for more.
