Groundhog Day For Everton

E Mail From Billy Bullens

My lovely postie gave me a great surprise on Friday when my season ticket arrived. It always gives you a buzz and you start to think about the games we have coming up for the next season

There was a magazine with a thank you from David Moyes for buying the ticket and how much he appreciates the support that is given.

But what you don't get from David Moyes or anybody else from the club for that matter is that everything will be ok by the time we take up our seats for the first few games of the season. Every summer ever since I know it Evertonians are put through the mill with who is coming to the club and who is leaving. It's like Groundhog Day

I can think the only other clubs this happens to are the relegated clubs like Birmingham and West Ham. But for them it's understandable.

At the moment all the papers and websites such as bluekipper have Rodwell, Baines, Jagielka,  Arteta and Fellaini all possible targets for the top clubs.

We have players, Yobo and Yakubu, who we want to leave but can't sell for the amount of money Everton are after.

And then we have a deluge of average and over the hill players we are linked with who may or may not be joining our great club. Its purgatory

It would be better for me and I would think most Evertonians not to go through all this pain. I wonder if the club really and I mean really know what we go through. I don't think they do

It would be better if the club can make an announcement that we are not buying or selling anyone for next season. It'll never happen but it would keep me sane

The sad thing about having no money and apparently funding previous purchases by "mortgaging " against future income is that things are not going to change unless some billionaire falls out of a tree. It becomes simple maths, our income just about covers our running expenditure. We do not generate millions of profit to invest in players, our ground is old and whilst mostly full does not bring in the match day receipts of most of our local neighbours, never mind what they are happy to pay further south. I am going to buy a ticket for the Euro lottery it might be our only chance.

I think you all need to stop worrying about who comes in and who may come in, Moyes has said dont believe anything the papers say, we will hear it from him. I for one do not worry about any news paper hype! I dont believe anything unless they are stood next to Moyes in our beloved everton colours with a scarf above his head.

All that matters at the end of the day is that we are Everton. The peoples club. Remember as our much missed Brian Labone says/said. "one Evertonian is worth 20 Shite". That is even more important when we do things with dignity. Also remember, we are chosen we dont choose. Now thats something to be proud of, not how much we can spend on a lady boy!!!

yes i am fed up of teh lack of spending but lets all get behind the club for a change instead of moaning... i am proud that everton are not a club like chelsea, city or the shite that ruining football by putting too much money init.. i would rather see a team of lads that WANT to play for everton and our proud than a load of money grabbers...lets get behind the lads.. no matter what the money and signing situation is COYB 2011/2012

Yes you are imagining we have a billionaire on the board of directors. Grantchester isn't on the board. He's a fuckin idiot anyway and I wouldn't want him running the local chippy. Get a grip.

I couldn't agree more! Every fucking summer the same frustration. Stop moaning and support the team? I've supported the team for 46 years and will continue to do so till I'm in a box. I, like countless thousands of blues deserve to be put in the picture by our "silent" board ! To watch all the big hitters like Stoke ? Sunderland ? Wigan ? QP fucking R ? Swansea ? All splashing cash around, not to mention relegated West Ham makes me sick and makes me question WHY we are the only team with a "sell to buy" policy ? Where's all the money ? Am I just imagining that we have a BILLIONAIRE on our board by the name of Granchester ?

Face the facts Tommy and Parkend. We haven't got the money for top players under Kenwright! Thats just the way it is. if we did what most other clubs do and spend money we haven't got then we'd go into further debt. I'd rather have us financially stable under Kenwright for the moment and long term future, than spend 20 million on a player who might not cut it. If we get an investor who has got the money, of course I'd say let's have it. But that's unlikely with goodison as it is now, because the prawn sandwich brigade won't enjoy the footie with a one hundred year old pillar in the way! On a seperate note how do teams like Liverpool and United get away with spending ridiculous amounts of money on players and wages whilst being in debt? Any other business would be declared bankrupt. There is no justice in football at all!

I think Steve from Old Swan understands the financial side of things more than Big Tommy and Billy Bullens.

The club is going through it but Moyes/Kenright are dealing with it. It is also a money game and we havent any but what we do have every other club would also like to have so in all a little unfortunate but not so bad. There are other clubs that are being ripped apart such as Villa or even Arsenal.

What Everton need to do now is get off to flying win at Spurs away. Why not? Then give Q.P.R. a good lesson at home. We need to start this season on a positive note something that's eluded us the last couple of seasons and thats that. A good bust out of the traps and bloody believe in ourselves. We're that good! Think positive regardless of all this transfer saga over the next month or two we will sill have a good set of players in place to go and challenge.COYB!

Moyes must be planning somthing. I do think we will make a few decent signings this summer but we will have to wait a few more weeks first for to sell players to provide the funds. I think he will sell either Rodwell or Felliani so there will be some big funds there if he does, Keep the faith. IMWT

Ste Flynn. No. You deal with it! The man is spot on. If your happy being mediocre, great. Some of us are not. In fact, a lot of us have had enough. So much so, season tickets sales are down by over 9%. I fear some of us may even go back for a refund before the transfer period is over. So, you go the game, sing jolly songs about how we are great and put your blinkers on to reality.

Couldnt agree more, pure frustration year in year out. No money to compete which results in our normal slow start to the season. We have the best fans in the world only to be treated like this. one day maybe one day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Parkend, Everton, 4:22 PM 3/07/2011

Totally agree, and the preseason is always the same travelling to far away lands that leave the players weary for the start of the season.
