The Passing of a True Blue - Joe Ashfield

It is with sadness and hurt that a true blue passed away on 24 Jun 2010.

Joe Ashfield was a wonderful father, Grandfather, Husband and friend.

He supported the mighty blues all his life and as a disabled season ticket holder in the Lower Bullens, he spent every home game cheering on his mighty Everton.

He battled numerous operations and endless pain over the last few years of his life and yet he never complained.

He fought for life to see his grandchildren grow up and see Everton win silverware.

We nearly made it when we went to Wembley for the FA Cup Final.

Yet even after that loss he didn't have a bad word for the team or manager and as always he was a proud blue.

The games in the future will be a little lost for me, yet I know Joe will be watching from the best seat in the house.

He will be sitting with the likes of Dixie Dean, Brian Labone and Alan Ball, like my dad, all legends.

Come on Everton make next season one to remember for my Dad.

God bless Joe Ashfield

Love,

Les Ashfield - his proud son
