I taught at St Nicholas High School for a couple of years in the early 1980's. I did not realise that I was living and working in the " stamping ground" of a great Evertonian. Very sad to read that our oldest former player has passed away - one that but for the war would have played many more times for the club. We tend these days to forget the sacrifices that Albert's generation had to make to preserve the liberties that we enjoy and sadly take for granted.

Albert was a great person who loved his time at Everton. He would have played many more times but he went to war for his country. He had a great voice and loved his family and being in his garden. He was and always will be a true BLUE. He will be greatly missed david (son in law)
