Peter McAdam R.I.P. (AGED 51)
A great Evertonian and charity fundraiser. Pete's death has come as a complete shock to all his family, friends and former colleagues in the fire service.
The former firefighter was found dead in Canning Dock on Tuesday 17th July. Merseyside Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
Peter McAdam raised tens of thousands of pounds for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation in memory of his brother Bob who died of the disease aged just 38.
Peter, a popular figure during his years in the fire service, set up a team of fundraisers among his colleagues dubbed the TrailBlazers.
Each year they would set up their ladders against a tall building in Liverpool and climb up and down to raise charity cash.
Paula Chadwick, chief executive of the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, said: "Peter McAdam is part of our charity's history and will be desperately missed by all of us.
"Peter became involved with the charity in 1994 following the sad death of his brother Bob from lung cancer, aged only 38.
"He set up the TrailBlazers with a group of his colleagues from the fire service aiming to raise as much money as they could to help us in our bid to defeat lung cancer.
"Over the past 18 years Peter and his colleagues raised more than £150,000 through various events, such as the annual firefighters' sponsored ladder climb.
"Our abiding memories of Peter will be of a passionate, committed, fun-loving man, who was a great friend to our charity and who we will never forget. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time."
Merseyside's Chief Fire Officer Dan Stephens, said: "We sadly learnt that former Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service watch manager Peter McAdam has passed away.
"Before his retirement in January 2011 he served at City Centre community fire station on Blue Watch.
" Peter made a lasting impression on our Service and will be remembered fondly by all who worked with him.
"Our deepest condolences go out to Peter's family, friends and work colleagues."
Pete attended many Blue Kipper functions and charity golf days. Deepest sympathy to all his family and friends from all at Blue Kipper.
