Everton
2 West Brom 0 / April 1st 1970
Everton:
West, Wright, Brown, Kendall, Kenyon, Harvey,
Whittle, Ball, Rolyle, Hurst, Morrissey
Scorers:
Harvey, Whittle
My
first match was on 1st April 1970 vs West Brom. It was on that
night that Everton clinched the title. I was about 10 years old
and a group of friends said we
should go. I can't remember much about the match, but I kept the
programme for years. The cover had Alan Whittle tussling with
Pat Jennings in the previous
home game vs Spurs.
Since then, I have followed the team. Some years
later, I was in London and I went to West Ham vs Everton. It was
not my first match, but it was someone
else's. We went two nil up thanks to George Telfer. They got back
to 2-2 and then went ahead. The game ended up 4-3 to the Hammers.
My disappointment was
made worse as my scarf was stolen by a gang of West Ham supporters
as I was leaving the ground. I was also sorry that Bob Latchford
didn't score on his debut.
I don't get to see Everton now as I am living
in South Korea. Maybe they will come here soon. The South Koreans
are crazy about their football and follow any
English teams who have Korean players. If Everton signed one,
there would be very loyal following here.

Was
against Nottingham Forest and we beat them 1- 0, around about
1968.
I had been due to see the match against Chelsea but was ill on
the day, so middle brother went instead. I had a consoling visit
from the grand mother. Lucky me!
A few things immediately struck me; how amazingly plush the grass
was, even now I love getting to matches early to watch the grass
grow, and that there was no opportunity to see the action repeated.
I had naively thought that the players recreated any moves they
had done, like on the telly!
I think I watched the match from the Bullens Road stand, in later
years moving to the New Main Stand.
Other memories include my late father's complete inability to
spell! Big Joe was "Royal" in the crossings out on the
programme. Other memories include the half time letters around
the ground to signify scores, how quaint, and the cushions that
used to get regularly thrown onto the pitch!

I
know this is bizarre but my first match was Everton Vs. Blackburn
on the 11th of February.
I'm
20 and before you all ask I never lived in the Uk before I came
here in Liverpool to study in Liverpool John Moores and what an
atmosphere that made a blue.
I
met some fella in Mathew street whom was a hardcore blue and showed
me Everton and from then I fell in love with Everton. Going back
to my first match it was a 1-0 win as we all know and it was a
remarkable day as Everton played with ten men. Fucking Referee's.
Hopefully next season I will be purchasing a full season ticket
and it will be my first time to watch all matches.
I have attached a picture of the score board.

My
first game wasn't at Goodison Park. Living over in Nottinghamshire
my first match was Leicester Vs Everton in 1986.
I
never chose which football team I would support, it was more forced
into me from birth. Me dad even woke me up aged three to watch
us lift the Cup m Winners Cup. I remember him saying to me "You
might not see this again Son". He been right so far.....
The
match passed rather quickly from what I remember. The only instances
I noted was the result, 2-0 to us, and Big Nev getting bashed
in the nose and his shirt covered in blood.
My
dad did a good job with pursading his children to support Everton.
Me, my sister and my dad are season ticket holders in the Upper
Bullens. We still live in Nottinghamshire and drive all the way
over every other week. We even went to the UEFA cup second leg
this season.

0 Gillingham 0 / FA Cup 3rd Round / 28th January 1984
Everton:
Southall, Stevens, Bailey, Ratcliffe, Mountfield, Reid, Irvine,
Heath, Sharp, Gray, Sheedy
My
Dad was brought up in Kent and although purporting to be Watford
fan – “closest place to birthplace” and all that, he watched the
Gills as a boy with his best mate Ken. Ken lived in Shrewsbury
and he met us at Kirkdale station where we had taken the short
trip from Formby. I was born near Hull so I’m pretty pleased that
my Dad did not force his own rules on me otherwise I’d have been
a Tiger and not a Toffee!!
I’d
been following the Blues for a couple of years and was over the
moon when Dad surprised me with the tickets. We sat in the Top
Balcony and I remember being given a free programme as we were
in the Main Stand. Bill would be choking on his prawn buttie if
that was brought back in now! I treasured it for years and it
now sits in a box in my parents loft.
Being
there was a lot better than the game, we were rubbish as I’m sure
many will remember with the Gills nearly scoring twice. Inchy
came on and nearly scored, a young(ish) Steve Bruce got in the
way and we were dragged down there for a replay. Twice. I remember
Peter Reid being the most outstanding player that day and to this
day will always be my “favourite ever”.
Of
course we did all the hard work in the 3rd round as we went on
to Wembley and took on my Dad’s team in the final and won. Having
cried my eyes out when we lost the Milk Cup at Maine Road to Liverpool,
I was the happiest kid in the country that May
We
moved to Southampton in 1985 so my blue experiences were annual
visits to The Dell and being very quiet in the Milton Road end
when we invariably beat The Saints.
I
ended up back in Liverpool in 1998 and have been a regular visitor
to Goodison since and indeed had a Season Ticket until 2004. Get
to as many games as I can and don’t give a toss what anyone else
says, David Moyes has been the saviour of our club and will take
things even further. A former Preston North End manager took over
another Merseyside club in 1960 and it took 4 seasons for them
to win anything. He became a legend.
