Everton 2 shite 3 (AET) / May 20th 1989 / Att: 82,800

Everton: Southall, McDonald, Ratcliffe, Watson, Van den Hauwe, Nevin, Steven, Bracewell, Sheedy, Sharp, Cottee

Subs McCall, Wilson

Scorers: McCall (2)

Still brings a tear to my eye, overjoyed at the fact I was going to be at the greatest game of my young life. I was full of optimism and as the sun shone on the hallowed Wembley turf, all was well. It was the biggest event I'd ever been to and was completely overwhelmed by the sea of blue and white and to be honest the red half looked pretty impressive too.

It was just awesome. As for the game, well we all know what happened there. I was gutted from the 12th minute, overjoyed at the 89th, then gutted again,
then on air and ultimately distraught at the very end. It still ranks as one of the best days of my life purely for the spectacle that it was. Football as it should be played with two sets of fans in a sea of pride.

Loving the blues!

Two For Stuart, But It Wasn't Enough

Charlton 0 Everton 0 / April 8th 2006 / Att:26,954

Everton: Wright, Hibbert, Yobo, Neville, Stubbs, Carsley, Arteta, Osman, Cahill, Beattie, McFadden

Subs: Davies (Osman), Ferguson (Beattie), Turner, Weir, Naysmith

My first game was against Charlton this season, but it wasn't great was it? My first game HAD to be a 0-0 draw, even though we hadn't had one in what? 50 odd games?

Nothing much happened and probabaly my biggest thrill was seeing some tall
people sitting in front of me wearing the "www.bluekipper.com" shirts.

Being an avid toffee fan since I was 6 years old my first game came 8 years
after that. Also living down in Brighton doesn't really help either. The
main highlight of the game was Biffa's half volley from about 25 yards,
touched over by my first ever Everton hero, Thomas Myhre. Also I had a bit
of a laugh with "Dickies" cock-up. But not much else, next game I go to I
wish I could celebrate a goal and I hope its at Goodison.

Please put this on your site. Thanks a bunch for your great website,
Tim aged 14 (06/06/06)

Everton 3 Wolves 1 / Sept 10th 1960

Everton: Dunlop, Parker, Jones, Gabriel, Labone, Harris (B), Lill, Collins, Harris(J), Vernon, Ring

Scorers: Vernon (2), Harris (J)

My first match was against Wolves in the late 50s or early 60s. We won 3-1. I was born in 1952. My brother and I were then regulars in the boys pen. We used to be able to see the Goodison floodlights from our bedroom window. That can't beat my grandfather's first match, he remembered being carried on his dad's shoulders at the 1906 cup final when he was 3. He reckoned that was the first time “e aye adio” was sung. “E aye adio Sandy scored a goal”. Sandy Young I think he said.

A Brace For Roy

Coventry 4 Everton 1 / April 4th 1972

Everton: West, Wright, McLaughlin, Kendall, Kenyon, Newton, Husband, Connolly, Johnston, Lyons, Morrissey

Scorer: Johnson

Well the first one I can properly remember anyway.

Not sure of the year - some time early 70's - but I do know that Mick Lyons
was captain, and it was an evening mid-week kick off. And it was cold. We went as a family - amazing to think we used to do that as was the time that "bovver boys" were starting to make news, and I do remember a nasty feeling that trouble might be around all through the evening.

I had started supporting the blues in 1969, as my Dad was a supporter. We
lived in Leicestershire. I'm pretty sure I went to see them at both Leicester City and Coventry before this particular match... I think Filbert Street was probably my first game - but can only remember Rodney Fern's haircut (think Max Wall) (Which reminds me of a game I used to play trying to pick a team of baldie players (not just blues) - at the time you had Andy Lockhead, Mancini, Coates, etc etc. anyway..)

Two things stick in my mind. The first was the first Sky Blues goal. The most stupid penalty I have seen to this day. An aimless cross from the right wing into the Everton penalty area. Not a CCFC player in sight. Mick leapt like a salmon - or basketball player - and with arm raised vertical committed the most blatant, and stupid handball ever with his outstretched hand. Stone cold pen. Converted - don't know who by.

The other was the delightful Tommy Hutchison. The dirtiest player I ever saw. He spent the whole evening in a succession of ankle taps, pushes, and other dirty tricks, all out of sight of the ref. Not sure he ever actually touched the ball. He got one Everton player - can't remember who - so wound up that he cracked and pushed him back. Though obviously the ref saw this one. Think he escaped with a booking but was close call to sending off.

It got to 3-0 with about 5 minutes left so we decided to leave. On the radio in the car on the way home we learned we had missed the consolation from the Blues.

Have tried to find out more about the game from a bit of surfing, but without success. So if anyone knows more about it - like the year, teams etc, would be great to know.

F.A Cup Final 1995 / Everton 1 Man U 0 / 20th May 1995 / Att: 100,000

Everton: Southall, Jackson, Ablett, Parkinson, Watson (C), Unsworth, Limpar (60 Amokachi), Horne, Stuart, Rideout (51 Ferguson), Hinchcliffe

Scorer: Rideout (25)

What a a game. my first ever game for the toffees, comes against man u shite in the F.A Cup Final. My 6th birthday was on the 10th of May and the ticket was a brilliant birthday present. The atmosphere was brilliant. A fantastic experience to watch our team at Wembley the then biggest stage in England.

Rideout's header sent the crowd into uproar, we hung on brilliantly despite a few of their chances. I'm so glad I was their to witness a trophy won by our club. It would have been nice to have been born about 10 years earlier to witness our great 80's success, but I've only seen one at the moment, so thats good enough for me.

This season's excellent performance against Fulahm was my 3yr old son Benjamin's first premiership game (pre season game against Udinese was his first full match).

What an excellent way to start his Everton career, we were in the Lower Gwladys singing our heads off and cheering every trick that the Spanish dancer had for the fulham defence, lets just hope he has many more days like this.

Cheers lads,
keep up the good work.

I have been an Evertonian in Hong Kong for 20 years. I choose to be Evertonian when I was young because I think it was my destiny to be Blue. My first Everton match that showed on the television should be the FA cup final with Manchester United in 1985. Being a Chinese Evertonian in Hong Kong is not a good experience since most people (glory hunters) here support LFC (shite) or Man Utd. They can’t understand why I support a team that almost relegated in several occasions. But I still feel proud to be Evertonian.

It is always my dream to visit Goodison Park. My dream came true three years ago. I can still remember the excitement when I got off from the bus and saw the banner “The People’s Club”!

For all people I met in Goodison Park, they thought that I support Everton because of Li Tie. Honestly, for those Chinese Evertonians I met in Hong Kong, none of them supports Everton because of Li Tie. I enjoyed the atmosphere here and was touched by the way that the supporters did to the players especially when Judas Rxxxxy was substituted. Anyways, I was delighted that we won the game and it was perfect for my trip. I will remember this experience in the rest of my life and I am planning to revisit in the near future!
