Everton 4 Newcastle 0 / August 27th 1988 / Att: 41,560

Everton: Southall, McDonald, Pointon, Snodin, Watson, Reid, Steven, McCall, Sharp, Cottee, Nevin

Sub: Sheedy

Scorers: Cottee (3), Sharp

My first match was Tony Cottee's debut in 1988 I think. Me and my kid brother went with our uncle Mick. It was chocker and we could only get in the Gladys which was standing in those days. We only lasted until the second goal, our Richy lost a shoe and his coat as we were getting squashed by all these big men, bearing in mind we were only 5 and 7.

We then got passed to the front by like a pair of rock stars who had just jumped of stage in to an adoring crowd, when we got to the front we were passed over the fence to the bizzys who sat us behind big Nev's goal, Nev turned and give us a dirty look as if to say what f..k are youse doing. Me an our kid just sat there chewing the grass until the bizzys put us in the Upper Bullens.

It seems like I was dreaming now. I went to a dinner with big Nev about 18 months back in a hotel in Sefton Park and I asked if he remembered it, and he said he did briefly, probably just saying that. ha ha. Fozza Kirkby (31/07/06)

Everton 8 Cardiff City 3 / April 28th 1962

Everton: West, Meagan, Thomson, Gabriel, Labone, Harris, Bingham, Stevens, Young, Vernon, Temple

Scorers: Vernon (3), Bingham, Gabriel, Stevens, Temple, Young,

Early 60's Went with my uncle as my dad was not really a lover of the beautiful game we sat in the Upper Bullens right at the front, it was a sunny warm day and was probably the most exciting day of my life.

The Golden Vision was playing alongside Roy Vernon I'm pretty sure they got a couple each but when reality trails into romance the stats become blurred! I think it was Gordon West's debut.

I came away totally sold on the Blues.

My son is now 22 and we both hold season tickets, I have told him about that game but have never ben able to track down any info on it. Would you be able to fill in the blanks, Date, line up, attendance etc, these facts are all part of my heritage.

Keith Cederholm (25/07/06)

Footnote: Westy made his debut that season in a 4-0 home win against Wolves on March 3rd 1962

Billy Scored As Well

Everton 1 Burnley 1 / April 4th 1975

Everton: Davies, Bernard, Seargant, Buckley, Kenyon, Hurst, Jones, Dobson, Latchford, Lyons, Pearson

Scorer: Latchford

My first match was EFC V Burnley, circa 1975. I went with my mate Dave. I can remember tying myself to the bar at the front of the ledge between the Lower and Upper Glawdys St. It was a 1-1 draw with the Latch scoring for us and Pete Noble scoring for Burnley. From that moment on I continued to tie myself to the bar as I was far too small to stand and take the stick of a big crowd. I always remember a bloke who stood on a bar against a pillar at the GS end and led the chanting, he looked like Noddy Holder, can anyone remember his name? He was legendary!!

Spurs 2 Everton 1 / April 22nd 1989 / Att: 28,568

Everton: Southall, McDonald, Van den Hauwe, Ratcliffe, Watson, Bracewell, Nevin, Steven, Sharp, Cottee, Sheedy

Scorer: McDonald

Just thought I would send you my first match details.

I think it was our first game after the Hillsborough disaster, we were away to Tottenham who were pretty good that season and lost 2-1. I cant remember who scored for us but I think Paul Walsh got a double for the them. I was 11 at the time and all the lads in my school either supported Everton or Liverpool so we used to recreate the derby twice a day in the play ground, they always out numbered us but we always used to beat them anyway. Boys wearing red just ain't right I think thats why we had the edge. Anyway we lost against Tottenham but Chris Waddle got a good slating from the best fans in the country, he had a propper mullet at that time.

Cant give you anymore details but be nice to see this on your site, I live in Thailand these days in the blurry world of Chang.

Cheers lads, keep up the brilliant site.

Neil Mac, Did Actually Score For Us

Everton 4, West Ham 0 / February 25th 1967

Everton: West, Wright, Wilson, Hurst, Labone, Harvey, Young, Ball, Pickering, Husband, Morrissey

Scorers:
Husband, Morrissey, Temple, Young

My late dad was a lifelong red but I was chosen in 1966 when we won the cup. My earliest football memory aged 7. For my 8th birthday my dad took me to Goodison for my first time for the West Ham game. It was the only time he ever took me. We used to go to Anfield a lot after that and I always wanted the other team to win. Saw us win 2-0 in 1970 which was another fantastic memory (Royle and Whittle).

Back to this game. All I remember is the fantastic atmosphere. We were in the lower Bullens and I couldn't believe how green the pitch was. I'd only ever seen footy on a black and white TV that my dad got specially for the 1966 World Cup Final.

All I remember about the game was that Derek Temple scored and was later carried off on a stretcher but it cemented me to Everton for life despite my dad's best efforts.

Everton 3 Leeds 2 / August 30th 1969

Everton: West, Wright, Brown, Kendall, Labone, Harvey, Husband, Ball, Royle, Hurst, Morrissey

Scorers: Royle (2), Husband

My first game (at the age of 8) was perched on my dad’s arm by the Paddock wall to watch Everton 3 Leeds 2 in 1969, but I have to admit my personal best memory was the 5-0 win v Chelsea where Bob got his 30th. I remember being at the top of the paddock before Lyons went over in the penalty box and ended up near the wall 10 seconds later (so strong was the crowd movement and excitement). Happy days!

Brace For Joe

QPR 5 Everton 0 / October 11th 1975

Everton: Davies, Bernard, Seargant, Pearson, Kenyon, Lyons, Buckley, Dobson, Latchford, Clements, Jones

I'd like to share my first match experience although details are hazy in the foggy graveyard that is my memory.

I was brought up in London and my dad who was brought up a blue in Merseyside would take me to as many matches as he could in and around the South East of England.

The first match was Everton vs QPR in the mid 70s (I think 1975) in the days when QPR had a pretty tasty team. I remember that we lost 5-0. The scoreline didn't diminish my excitement one bit becasue of the thrill of watching Everton live for the first time and being with my dad who had, since I could remember had furnished me with magical tales of Everton - '66 Cup Final etc..

But the best part was getting access to the press room bar afterwards. The room was packed, noisey and smokey and just a sea of legs to me as I was no more than waist high to everyone. However, I spotted Mick Lyons who fixed me with his blue eyes and said something humerous (that I can't remember) and shook my hand. I was made up.

Keep up the good work on Bluekipper
