Everton 3 Bolton 2 / December 28th 1997 / Att: 37,149

Everton: Myhre, Thomas, Hinchliffe, Ball, Dunne, Tiler, Farrelly, Barmby, Ferguson, Oster, Cadamarteri

Scorers: Ferguson (3)

I'll be honest with you- I can't remember when it was- or what year in fact- all I can tell you was, I was young. I think... it was against the Bolton. Actually it could have been round about 95 cos I'm sure I had a cherished DANKA sponsored top. I remember the excitement leading up to the game- even the day before.

I was a little shit, must have pissed off the family no end. Anyway- the game. Ferguson started. Hat trick. Of headers!!! Sweet as, I was well chuffed- mostly also because both of my older brothers supported the shite and were putting us down constantly. The drive home was full of
smugness from the blueboy in the family.

Three For The Big Man

Everton 3 redshite 0 / Septeber 9th 2006 / Att: 40,004

Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Yobo, Lescott, Naysmith, Arteta, Cahill, Carsley, Neville, Osman, Johnson

Scorers: Cahill, Johnson (2)

My story is a little more recent than the rest, but here it is.

A couple of moths ago, I started planning a trip to Europe for September, one thing I knew I wanted to see was the blues play at Goodison Park, but the draw had not been released yet. The minute it was, I made a mad dash for the computer to see the months ahead. I skipped straight to the month of September and there it was! September 9, Everton v the shite, Goodison Park!

I immediately called my travel mate and told him there was no way in the world I was missing this game no matter what the cost. He understood, we both joined Evertonia and secured our tickets the minute they were released.

On the day, I couldn't contain myself. I didn't even think the score was that important, the fact that I was going to be there to see the biggest game of the season from an Evertonians point of view was almost a dream come true (little did I know that it would!). Walking around the city, blue and red everywhere. We asked everyone in blue where the buses were and they all told me the same thing 'Let's hope Timmy can get one for you', by the time I got on the bus I think my friend had had enough with my frequent excitement releases. When we got off I headed straight for the megastore, bought my jersey and accessories and headed for the Lower Bullens.

I don't know if I need to say much about the game, I'm sure its still fresh in most minds, but I will anyway. Shite started out on top, but the back four stood strong, and I didn't have to wait long for my first wish to be granted. 24th minute Timmy slid in to put the ball in the back of the net!

AJ was causing havoc up front and it wasn't too long before shite slipped up and AJ pounced and finished superbly! The shackles were well and truly off and the shite got desperate and I started my ascent towards blue heaven, shite's shots were spraying wide from near and far and Goodison couldn't get enough of it.

Second half was more laughs as the shite missed great oppurtunities, I seem to remember Kuyt missing one from about the same blade of grass that AJ scored his. I didn't know it could get better as I entered through the pearly blue gates but before me was the biggest joke of the season, Reina misjudged a Carsley shot, 1 juggle, 2 juggle and AJ shut the gate! I was well and truly buried in blue heaven, no doubt the single greatest day on my holiday!

If a Picture Paints a Thousand Words

Everton 1 Spurs 4 / August 25th 1984 / Att: 35,630

Everton: Southall, Stevens, Bailey, Ratcliffe, Mountfield, Reid, Steven, Heath, Sharp, Richardson, Bracewell

Scorer: Heath

What a day for me watching the Blues for the first time in the flesh. I remember watching the Cup Final against Watford on the TV, and begged my dad all Summer that I wanted to go to Goodison the next season. We travelled up from Stoke (my dad supports Forest, and he was not to impressed) for the opening day of the season. I recall getting hammered by a good Spurs side that ran us close for the League that season. My highlight of the trip was when the Everton team, or it may have been the youth side who paraded the FA Cup and the FA Youth Cup before the crowd, fantastic. The result was not one I had hoped for, but the day that I first visited Goodison will stay with me always.

Adrain Heath I think scored a penalty that day, but the team we fielded I cannot recall, so if you can fill in the details I would be grateful. I now live in Surrey, and married with a a baby on the way. Whatever it is another Evertonian is coming into the world, and when it is old enough I shall take my kid on the pilgrimage to Goodison. Thanks bluekipper for keeping my boring hours in work bearable, best site by miles.

That Goal, From a True Everton Legend

Sheff Wed 2 Everton 1 / January 11th 1997 / Att: 24,175

Everton: Southall, Barrett, Watson, Phelan, Dunne, Kanchelskis, Stuart, Speed, Barmby, Rideout, Ferguson

Scorer: Ferguson

I just intercepted this off my email account.

My son (Ted) is not quite correct here and is confusing his first home game with his first away. His first game was on his fourth birthday against Millwall in the League Cup at Goodison and he did fall asleep at 2-0 only to be woken up by the sound of moaning Evertonians slamming their seats in protest on the way out following a 4 goal revival by Millwall - at least he got his photo taken with Paul Ridout and the FA Cup / Charity Shield after the game.

His first away game was against Sheff Wed and it is true to say that he spent half the game asking if it was ok to join in with the "shitty ground" chants from the boys in binbags but we ran out 2-1 winners that day (I think). Incidentally, my first ever professional game was the derby match at Goodison on the 8th of February 1964 and I was vaguely a Wolves fan in search of my scouse roots (as I had recently returned to Merseyside) so I vowed to support the hometown team that caught my imagination on the day - Everton battered them 3-1 and the rest is...history (and autobiography)! Roy Vernon has a lot to answer for.
All the best

Big Dunc, Blue Through and Through Scored In This Away Defeat

Everton 5 Norwich 0 / FA Cup 5th Round / 18th February 1995

Everton: Southall, Jackson, Hinchcliffe, Watson, Abblett, Stuart, Ebbrell, Parkinson, Rideout, Ferguson, Limpar

Scorers: Limpar, Parkinson, Rideout, Ferguson, Stuart

My first game was our 5-0 thrashing of Norwich on our way to lifting the FA Cup in 1995. I think it was the 5th round but not sure. My dad took me to Goodison for my 6th birthday and we sat in the Park End, I couldn't believe the size of the place and from then on I was hooked.

We were 2-0 up at half time thanks to Anders Limpar and Joe Parkinson, with some help from the awful Simon Tracey in the Norwich goal. It was Joe' s first goal for the club. In the second half Rideout, Ferguson and Graham Stuart all scored as well and I think John Newsome was sent off for the Canaries.

After that we couldn't make it to Goodison again until the following season but I vividly remember watching the final against United on the telly. How Graham Stuart didn't score I will never know, but Rideout was there to nod home and we were in dreamland!

Great site lads, keep it up!

Joe Parky's First Goal For His Beloved Blues In The Season He Ended Up With The FA Cup

Everton 0-1 Aston Villa / 31-Aug-1993 / Att: 24,022

Everton: Southall, Holmes, Hinchcliffe, Ebbrell, Jackson, Ablett, Ward, Stuart, Cottee, Rideout, Beagrie

I remember bits of this game. I was 7yrs old and my Dad had been promising to take us to a game, I wasn't really into football at the time, but what I do remember was walking up those stairs into the ground and feeling captivated by the whole atmosphere. It was like nothing I had ever witnessed, although I was young and I fell asleep (it wasn't the best game by all accounts) I will still always remember the day.

It was Whittingham (who??) who scored the only goal of the game, and believe me I have enjoyed witnessing many more enjoyable games at Goodison and away grounds alike, and will always remain a true blue for my life.
