Everton 3 Wimbledon 2 / May 7th 1994 / Att: 31,233

Everton: Southall, Unsworth, Snodin, Ebbrell, Watson, Ablett, Stuart, Horne, Cottee, Rideout, Limpar

Scorers: Horne, Stuart (2)

I’m happy to say that I was a chosen one… Luckily my Dad and his father were both Evertonians so was raised in a good way.

My first Everton match… a monumental one… Everton vs. Wimbeldon – the one were we needed to win to stay up. I don’t remember what year it was, or how old I was… I suppose I’d be early teens or younger.

I just remember a cracking atmosphere and blood and guts going into every challenge from the blues… and Graham Stuart! What a legend! I didn’t really understand the importance of the match – but the celebrations after the goals, and the pitch invasion!

On the way home on the bus there were hoarse voices still singing their love for the Blues…

It’s only a vivid memory of the match I have, but one thing I remember is that that day made me realize what makes me love the Blues so much and why I know I will always love them – the team spirit and the undying love of the fans – I support a good ‘un!!!

Everton 1 Derby County 0 / May 15th 1989 / Att: 17,826

Everton: Southall, McDonald, Pointon, Ratcliffe, Watson, McCall, Nevin, Ebbrell, Sharp, Cottee, Wilson

Scorer: Wilson

My first game was in 1989 against Derby County.

If memory serves it was very soon after the Semi Final win over Norwich City on a Wednesday night. I was Nine years old and I remember sitting in the Upper Bullens with my dad in absolute amazement of the size of the place after only previously watched from on TV.

Not sure of the attendance but it seemed like there was 100,000 there with the atmosphere and the noise. My only glimpses of memory are baldy Ian Wilson scoring a blinder, Stuart McCall's red hair and Peter Shilton in goal for County and a penalty miss by somebody, possibly Sheeds.

Was hooked on Everton before that game and nothings changed eighteen years later ..season ticket holder and away follower.
Great sight lads

Crystal Palace 2 Everton 0/ April 4th 1992/ Att: 14,338

Everton: Southall, Jackson, Harper, Ebbrell, Ablett, Keown, Warzycha, Beardsley, Johnson, Ward, Beagrie

All my whole family (except my rednose scummy uncle) support Everton, so when I was born I had no choice in the matter. My dad had been their through thick and thin just as his dad had been and even my great grandfather remembers the great Dixie. Anyway I was born in 1985 (what a year to support Everton) I remember my dad in 1989 sliding across the living room carpet taking all the skin off his knees screaming "Gods an Evertonian." I wondered why this was I think we had just made it 2-2 in the 1989 Cup Final against the shite.

Two years later it was my turn to go to a match as I was born in Kent and now live in Sussex. My dad took me to an away match against Crystal Palace. I can't remember what the date was but I think it was the season before the Premiership started, and Wazza, and Beardsley were playing. I think the score was 2-1 or 3-1 to Palace and we had the lovely yellow kit on with the blue lightening bolt across it. But after that I was hooked with all the hustle and bustle and banter of Scousers at a football match, who in my opinion are the funniest people on planet earth. I have since been to the FA Cup Final, seen us get tonked 3-0 by Tranmere in the 3rd round of the FA Cup and seen us beat the red shite 3-0 at home oh what a day that was, plus many many more.

Great site lads,
If Ya Know Ya History..........

Everton 1 Burnley 0 / October 20th 1973

Everton: Lawson, Darracott, McLaughlin, Clements, Kenyon, Hurst, Bernard, Buckley, Lyons, Harper, Connolly

Scorers: Clements

This was my first game, and my old fella took me and we stood on the Park End. I don’t remember much about the game, just the atmosphere and the piss two inches deep in the bog. I remember walking up the stairs to the Park End and looking towards the Street End and they was in full song, singing "Everton Boys we are here shag our woman drink our beer" and some fella with a big blond shaggy head, standing on the bar in the Street End starting the singing off. I remember asking my old fella can we go in the Street End next time and he said something like "fuck that they piss on you in the Street End"

I knew I wanted to go in the Street End one day. My first Derby game, was in the same season, and our kid got some tickets off Steve Sergeant for the Top Balcony. We had a goal disallowed by Mick the lion heart and some red shite by the name of Waddle scored the winner, I remember thinking then I hate you red bastards.

I eventually got in the Street End that season, I sneaked out and jumped the bus from Halewood to Goodison for the night game against Manure, they had just been relegated by Man city the previous Saturday we beat them 1-0 Mick Lyons scored. I got home about 10.30 and sneaked in (I was only nine ) and my Ma was waiting for me "where have you been she screamed" to watch the Blues Ma and we won." I went to bed and went to school but know one believed I had been the match on my tod.

I went to many more games over the following 10 years before I left the city in 1985, Cup Finals, Rotterdam and League Titles and even great escapes over the years travelling half way around the world to see my beloved blues and now my kids are doing the same, their first game, first away match all I pray for now is they see the success that I seen in the eighties. Dave Grabbed The Only Goal

Everton 4 Sheffield United 2 / August 21st 1993 / Att: 24,177

Everton: Southall, Holmes, Ebbrell, Hinchcliffe, Jackson, Ablett, Ward, Stuart, Cottee, Rideout, Beagrie

Scorers: Cottee (3), Ebbrell

Me and my Brother are Everton fans living in West Yorkshire, near Leeds. Our first game was against the mighty Sheff Utd and as it was our first game and we were clueless as to where we were going, we ended up in the Bullens Road end with a couple of thousand Sheff Utd fans.

Hiding our Everton tops beneath our coats we had to stifle cheers and massive grins as Tony Cottee tore Sheff Utd apart smacking 3 past 'em, and I think John Ebrell chipped in with another. Having Yorkshire accents our fake cries of "what the fuck are you playing at?" didn't seem so out of place amongst all the scowling and angry flat cappers.

Best Everton site by miles lads - keep up the good work. We all know we're only a couple of signings away from being a genuine top quality side.

I know Kevin Nolan's neighbour's sons Aunties bingo partner and he's a definite for next season.

Everton 3 West Ham 2 / October 23rd 1976 / Att: 23,163

Everton: Davies, Darracott, Jones, Lyons, McNaught, Hamilton, King, Dobson, Latchford, Goodlass, Telfer

Scorers: Lyons, King, Latchford

Been a Blue since 1971 after asking my Dad the silly question what team should I support?. Pestered my Dad across 1976 to take me to a game, as I had become a developed a proper interest in the Blues thanks to my cousin and a best mate who were regular watches and would regale me with tales of home games they had seen.

My old man celebrated his 50th birthday the morning of the match. He could be a moody bugger and had had a huge barney with my Mum. Sitting around the lunch table eating scouse and glaring at my Mum, he turned to me and said 'do you want to go to Goodison?'. I jumped at the chance. We'd been tonked 3-1 at Anfield the previous week, but that wasn't going to stop me going to my first game and we were bound to win - weren't we?

We turned up at the ground and bought tickets for the Top balcony (with my old man chunnering about the price) and sat down to watch the boys have a kick-around on the pitch and the Gwladys St. End start to fill up with fans. I remember my old man saying to me, 'watch the match, take no notice of anyone else around you and close your ears to what they may shout'. Well, I didn't and I learned some very choice words that day and also learned how fans could throw bile at the players one moment, then love them the next.

Can't remember a great deal about the actual match apart from us dashing into a 3-0 lead and Bob Latchford lashing one in at the Park End that had all the fans on their feet in the stand commenting 'goal of the season that was!'. Typical Everton, West Ham got back into the match 2nd half and had us hanging on for the final whistle. I think the gate was around 25,000 for the match, but other than Big Bob scoring, can't for the life of me remember who scored the others for us. Must have thrown the programme from the game out some years ago, Please could you refresh my memory and add some match stats?. My old man must have gotten something out of the game too. He hadn't been to watch a game at Goodison since the sixties...but we went again the following Wednesday to see Coventry thumped 3-0 and dumped out of the League Cup. After this 'deluge' of matches, I was only taken to watch Everton on a few more occasions over the next seven years until I was deemed old enough to go and watch them on my own. I just about timed this with our run-in to becoming the finest football team in Europe!!

Everton 3 West Ham 1 / May 5th 1986 / Att: 40,073

Everton: Mimms, Stevens, Van Den Hauwe, Ratcliffe, Billinge, Richardson, Steven, Lineker, Richardson, Heath, Sheedy

Scorers: Lineker (2), Steven

My first match was against West Ham season 1985/86. I was in the Street End with my nephew (Joey 'the lips' Johnston) & brother in law (Alan 'big rigga' Johnston). It was was freezing, but I can't remember the month. I think we beat them 3-1 Tony Cottee was a Hammer, although at the time I can't remember if one Gary Lineker playing for us at the time.
