Everton 4 Leeds 4 / October 24th 1999 / Att: 37,355

Everton: Gerrard; Ball, Gough, Watson, Unsworth, Weir; Barmby, Collins, Gemmill, Hutchison; Campbell.

Scorers: Campbell (2), Hutchinson, Weir

The first game I watched on television was the Everton vs Watford cup final in 1984, part of the reason I support Everton! The first game I watched live was vs Southampton (where I live) at the old Dell. That was October 87 when I was 11 and we won 4 – 0 and Graeme Sharp scored all the goals!! Can’t remember anything else about the game

The one and only time I’ve been to Goodison was October 1999, the game was 4-4 against Leeds. We were winning 3-2 at half time but Leeds scored twice in the second half to leave us trailing before David Weir popped up to head in a last minute equaliser (I think it may have been his first goal for us). Walter smith had earlier lost it at the linesman when we were denied a definite penalty!!

It was pouring with rain and it was a great result against a Leeds side that included Nigel in goal, Woodgate, Smith, Kewell, Bowyer, Batty. I feared my first game at Goodison was going to be a hammering, I think Leeds had won something like 10 in a row!!

Gerard proved he was crap!! Kewell scored from the touchline for f#cks sake. Also Collins shocked me by making a contribution during the game!! Probably the only time laying for us!! Great game great day!!

Everton 1 Aston Villa 1 / October 13th 1962

Everton: West, Parker, Meagan, Gabriel, Labone, Harris B, Bingham, Stevens, Young, Vernon, Morrissey

Scorer: Vernon

I watched my first game at Goodison Park in the fall of 1962. A 1-1 tie with Aston Villa, if I remember correctly. A raw 18 year old from Doncaster, I was smitten forever with the ground (Goodison was then the ne plus ultra), the noise, the atmosphere but most especially the players.

Vernon (that dark and sinister darling of the Goodison hordes),the peerless Labone, The Golden Vision, Jimmy Gabriel....... I could go on and on. My love affair continues. My three children have all made the pilgrimage but they don't understand what standing meant. I saw us beat Sheffield Wednesday, lose to West Brom in the Cup Final. You pay your dues. It is with regret that I see my grandchildren will not be present at Goodison in all its former glory. If the move has to be, so be it. We, the overseas faithful, remain steadfast.

Everton 4 Portsmouth 2 / March 22nd 1958

Everton: Dunlop, Sanders, Tansey, Rea, Labone, Meagan, Harris (J), Thomas, Hickson, Fielding, Williams

Scorers: Thomas (2), Williams (2)

My First Match was on 22nd March 1958. Everton v Portsmouth. I sat in the Glawdys Street Stand. Both teams were in a precarious position near the bottom of the table and Everton won 4 - 2 which took them up a few places.

I remember the great Jimmy Dickinson playing for Portsmouth. The teams at the top of the league, the ones to beat, at that time were Wolves, Preston and West Brom. While I cannot claim to have been a regular at Goodison since then I have always enjoyed my visits there. Best ever Everton player I saw? Alex Young.

Everton 3 QPR 1 / May 12th 1984 / Att: 20,679

Everton: Southall, Stevens, Harper, Ratcliffe, Mountfield, Reid, Steven, Sharp, Heath, Gray, Richardson

Scorers: Sharp (2), Heath

My first game was back in 1984, and I think it was the week before the FA Cup Final when we beat Watford. As I was only nine I did not go to Wembley with my Dad, but as a compromise he took me to Goodison for the send off, and we beat QPR 3-1.

The crowd felt huge, but I have looked in the record books and it was only 20 odd thousand. The game if I am honest was a blur, but as a nine year old I was so excited to be there. My Mum, Dad, brother Stephen and myself all watched the Cup brought home on the Sunday, and that will be a day that will live long in my memory.

Have my own daughter now, she is two, and I can't wait to take her to Goodison. I just hope with the proposed Kirkby move I get the chance. Goodison forever !!

Everton 8 Southampton 0 / November 20th 1971

Everton: West, Wright, McLaughlin, Kendall, Kenyon, Scott, Johnson, Ball, Royle, Hurst, Whittle

Scorers: Royle (4), Johnson (3), Ball

I remember entering Goodison, walking up the steps into the Bullens Road paddock and being totally enchanted. As a wide eyed thirteen year old I watched us knock eight in past a hapless Southampton side. Joe Royle scored four, David Johnson got a hat trick and Howard Kendall scored the other if my memory serves me right. I didn't miss a home game for the next two seasons but never saw such a resounding victory again for many years. Don't get to the match as often as I would like these days, but i am a Blue until I die.

Chelski 1 Everton 1 / May 13th 2007 / Att: 41, 746

Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Yobo, Stubbs, Lescott, Neville, Osman, Arteta, Carsley, Fernandes, Vaughan

Scorer: Vaughan

Will you put these photos on BK for my cockney mate Peter and his ‘bin-lids’. It was the kid’s first trip to Chelski and his lad, Declans’, first footy match. With his Everton shirt and Chelski cap on he enjoyed a beverage before the game with some locals. Thanks to the friendly blue who gave him a badge.

Pictured are:

Everton 2 Bolton 1 / January 6th 1945

Everton: Burnett, Jackson, Greenalgh, Grant, Boyes, Watson, Rawlings, Jones (TE), Lawton, Stevenson, McIntosh

Scorers: Lawton (2)

I am 76 years old and have been a BLUES supporter for many years. The first match I watched was around the end of the war, when the BLUES beat BOLTON 2-1.

Tommy Lawton played that day with a painful boil on his neck and scored both goals. I believe Alf Hanson was in goal for Bolton. Could you possibly tell me the date of this game as I am keen to know exactly how many years I have followed the BLUES.
