Walter
Smith |
I’d
just like to take this opportunity to say “Good Luck” to Walter in whatever
he does in the future. Team selections and tactics may have been questionable
from time to time but I think we should all remember his loyalty to The
Blues during tough times. He never moaned about the shitty hand he was dealt,
got rid of Hamper Boy and made some cracking signings. Cheers Walter and
Good Luck from The Goodison Faithful |

Paul
Gerrard
|
I said last season he was a liability and I still think that way. With Tommy Myhre out of the frame it was Gerrard’s chance to establish himself as the club’s number 1. As with a footy floated into the box he fluffed this opportunity and handed Simmo his chance. Moyesey gave him another chance, which he again spilled and was dropped after 3 games. Blackburn was possibly his last game for the club.

Steve
Simonsen
|
Gerrard’s
knocking out of Xavier (the only thing he did right!) at home v Newcastle
was enough for Walter to drop him and place Simmo in the nets. We instantly
noticed a keeper who talked to his back 4 and was confident enough to come
off his line. Admittedly he did make a few errors along the way but at 23
(Yeah! He’s 23 – must have had the hardest paper round in the world) he
is young enough to learn. |

Alec
Cleland
|
Just
3 substitute places for Alec this season. All in the league. Will be released.
Good Luck. |

Steve
Watson
|
Wasn’t sure if I should put Watto down as a striker instead of a defender after he filled in during our striker crisis. As a striker he was as prolific as Timmy off” South Park” but scored 4 from right back! He was as willing as ever this season and could fit in well with Moysey’s hard graft and application philosophy
|
Davie
Weir
|
Still
the best buy in the Premiership as far as I am concerned and his performances
are now being recognised as Man Utd are reportedly after him. Scored “My”
Goal of the Season at Spurs and is arguably the People’s choice to be The
People’s Club captain. Marks that Welsh prick Owen out of the Derby every
year, great with the ball at his feet and keeps the back 4 as flat as a
witch’s tit!

Alan
Stubbs
|
True Blue – realised a dream
by moving to Everton from Celtic. An indifferent start to the season by
Stubbsy but he got better and better as he and Davie Weir got used to each
other. Fires his free kicks in like a scud missile and managed to get a
few important goals for us along the way.

Alessandro
Pistone
|
I slagged “Sandro” off last season for being fung but I am happy to admit he has improved. Played right and left back again but seems to have gotten better especially under Moysey – not taking as long on the ball as he used to. Scored his first Everton goal with a screamer against Bolton. Endeared himself to female pensioners and New Romantics everywhere with his pink rinsed bouffant

Tony
Hibbert

He
never showed signs of fear last season and he didn’t let us down once
this season either. Hard tackling and happy to assist attacks down the
right. He is definitely part of Everton’s future and was very unlucky
to pick up the injuries he did as he was improving all of the time. Will
be good to see him back next year!

Gary
Naysmith

It feels like he has been out injured for ages now. The dodgy ankle looks like it will keep him out until a few weeks into next season. Walter was playing Gary as a left midfielder until his injury. Maybe he isn’t the most creative player in the position but at left back his tenacity and energy make him important to what Moysey hopes to achieve with Everton.
|
Peter
Clarke
|
Clarkey
is emerging as a decent centre back for the reserves and will no doubt force
his way into the first team sooner or later. He was used mainly as an emergency
right back and played well. I would say he would have to work on his distribution
a little bit more because he made more poor passes than I did at the Office
Chrimbo Party!
|
|
| I gave Unsey some stick last season about not being good enough. To be fair he played in the same vein for most of the season - long diagonal 60-yard balls to no one. But as soon as Moyes took over it was like we had signed a Brazilian left midfielder- "Rhininio"!!!! He has always been a trier but everything now seemed to be coming off for him inc. a 27 second goal and an invite to the Blue Kipper Presentation Evening!! A True Blue who fully deserves his testimonial against Athletico Bilbao. | ||

Paul
Gascoigne
|
The
season started badly for Gazza with his documented drinking problem and
his injuries, which took an age for him to get back but he didn't look the
same. He made a great contribution throughout the FA Cup run most notably
against Leyton Orient. He has left us with some great memories - who could
forget the long grey wig he wore at training when we signed Ginola; when
he sabotaged Xavier's SKY interview crying "Don't leave me Abel!"
and playing in goal in Blomqvist's suit when he was signing for us! |
|
|
Niclas
Alexandersson
|
For
me, he had another "indifferent" season. He has so much ability
but doesn't use it often enough. With Big Dunc back now he should be pushing towards the by-line to get some quality crosses in for the Big Fella. He did chip in with a couple of goals towards the end of the season but I would like to see him push towards 10 a season. I know Moyes likes to play attacking football so he may bag a few more next season. |
|
|
Tobias
Linderoth
|
His
signing went hugely unnoticed as we signed Daveed and Carsley in the same
week. The third IKEA triplet hasn't played too much but he has come across
as a tough tackling defensive midfielder. Toby is a full Swedish international
who could sit in the middle of the park and dictate play for us. I guess
we'll all find out more about him during the summer and next season. |
|
|
Lee
Carsley
|
Signed
just before the Derby in an attempt to bolster our midfield. Looked like
he forgotten about the pace of the Premiership at first but started to find
his feet again. Played his best games in the Royal Blue jersey against the
Shite and Arsenal. Again, will have to monitor him over the World Cup and
next season! |
|
|
Mark
Pembridge
|
"Sugar Puff Teeth" Pembridge hardly figured for us this season with a bad injury but at least it never affected his pace when he got back - he never had any to start with! Can never say Mark doesn't try and can't think of a time when he let us down either. Is never going to be a flair player but is just an honest, reliable grafter. |
|
|
Scott
Gemmill
|
I see Scott in the same light as Mark Pembridge - shite! Only messing. He tries hard and helps to keep the midfield ticking over although he never governs it. Never going to be likened to Rivaldo but has given us 4 years good service now and scored his annual 25 yard screamer - this time against Boro. I think he may be on the bench a lot next year and will be used as a squad player. |
|
|
David
Ginola
|
A
"feel good," signing in the same manner as the Gazza signing was.
Walter brought him in to perform some Harry Potter-esque magic for us as
we desperately lacked any creation in midfield. He impressed in his first
game against The Arse but did little else after. Looked like he was carrying
more weight than someone giving The Notorious B.I.G a piggyback. Moyes's
arrival meant a return to good hard honest graft so there was no room (literally)
for Daveed Le Grande. |
|
|
Tommy
Gravesen
|
To
quote Sgt.Pepper " <He's> going in and out of style but <he's>
guaranteed to raise a smile!" Tommy started off the season like a man
on fire, scoring a beauty at home v West Ham and playing well in the opening
games. Last season's 'clenched fist' in the air every time he heard the
Street sing his name continued this season! He upset Walter when he said
he wanted to be nearer his family, he was dropped and looked to be heading
out of the Goodison door. He made a good return and looks to be part of
Moyes's plans for next season. Still a nutter though!!!! |
|
|
Jesper
Blomqvist
|
We signed Jesper after he had a two-year lay off with a dodgy knee. I think it was a worthy gamble. At first he lacked fitness but he still had a great touch. With each game he got better and better and added some much needed pace into the misfiled. I think it may well be Moyes's first mistake in not completing his signature. Maybe the famous "chucking the water bottle" after being subbed during the Bolton game was the deciding factor!
| Started
off the season with 2 goals in two games - fair enough they were pens but goals are goals! Turned into a typical Dunc season after that - injured all of the time, didn't really wanna know - same old story. BUT...give him the skipper's armband and he was a different player! 4 goals in 6 games, lead the line well, motivated the lads - FUCKING BRILLIANT! But then he had to go and deck someone and get banned! If he can sustain his form throughout an entire season he'd be amazing but how many times have we said that preseason? |

Kevin
Campbell
|
First
season "Super" hasn't been our top scorer. I have defended him
all season reminding people he has had bad injuries and hasn't had a consistent partner upfront with him. His once infectious enthusiasm seems to have gone and he is looking to dive rather than put the effort in. He looked heavy and half arsed for most of the season - couldn't even trap a dead sheep. With the armband going over to the Big Man it looks like Kev may have to play this season from the bench! |
|
|
Joe
Max Moore
|
Poor old Joe didn't really get a look in again this year - even Stevie Watto was preferred to him when we less upfront than Dunc's sister (before she had her implants). Chipped in with 2 goals but has mainly been sat on the bench worrying about making the World Cup. Joe is an honest busy player who deserved a go in the team as well as the World Cup.
|
Nick
Chadwick
|
In
a very disappointing season it is good to have something positive to report. Chaddy became a "super sub" for the latter stages of the season and scored vital goals. He states his ambition is to have the No. 9 shirt and if he continues the way he has been who is going to deny him it? A strong centre forward who has not been fazed by his introduction to the first team. He is one for the now! I expect we will see a lot more of him next year! |
|
|
Tomasz
Radzinski
|
When we signed "The Rad" I was made up - a striker with pace! Looked like the ideal replacement for Jeffears - plus he had more pace, more experience and smaller ears. For a first season in England, playing in a team that lacked creativity I thought he did well. His runs off the ball often went unnoticed by a clueless midfield. His finishing could be worked on and he was guilty of "Miss Of the Season" against Bolton He missed when there was more chance of Tommy Gravesen being mistaken for Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen. |
