Well, it isn't just a stadium is it so it has 2 be an arena. Everton Arena I think.Has a ring to it. Tom Hughes. (16/10/02)

I think that before we start talking about a new name for 'the stadium' we need to make 100% certain that we are going to get one. Shaun R Parker. (16/10/02)

Either "Barry Horne's Kennel of Doom" or the "Gary Ablett Arena". Why not just King's Dock, with Catterick, Kendall, Nev and Dixie stands. Chris Mac. (16/10/02)

The new stadium has to be called The Kings Dock. It's not only a great name, it's the real name. Let's stop clinging onto the past and move forward, which is the point of the whole thing anyway. Mart, London. (16/10/02)

The 'Rod Belfitt Stadium' is as imposing a title you could get. Only joking. It has to be 'the Blue Heaven.' Dave Kelly. (16/10/02)

The People's Stadium - what else ? Mike. (16/10/02)

KINGS OF THE MERSEY is the new name I would give, if we go there, and I would go further and rename the club THE MERSEYSIDERS EFC playing on Merseyside and not here that WORD AGAIN but I have got a feeling we will all be under one roof at the 65 acre site at Halewood,we will all no very soon. RHarrycharles. (16/10/02)

Call it "Tommy Graverson's Dome of Death" and plaster a huge poster of his big scary mad eyed mug on the side to terrify the shit out of everyone. J from Wavertree. (16/10/02)

How about 'The New Kings Dock Arena on the Waterfront by the side of the clear Royal Blue Mersey with a slight Goodison feel about it Built for the People in memory of Dixie and Others Stadium or Park.' For F*cks sake its got to be ' The Goodison Stadium'. Stan the Man Llanfairpwllgwyngell Anglesey. (16/10/02)

If we get sponsored by a Greek Caramel purveyor we could call it the 'ToffeeOpolis'! Top site! The Marsian Toffeeman. (16/10/02)

The fans will call it Kings Dock anyway, so I think that will be the only suitable name. Osmo Tapio Räihälä. (16/10/02)

the new stadium should be either centenary stadium or Goodison waterfront nothing else will do. Kevin bolland. (16/10/02)

I agree with Paul Albert. Start a bidding war going. We'll got millons and won't have to sell young, promising stars like Rooney and Chadwick. Macmo. (16/10/02)

"The Goodison Arena", "The Peoples Stadium"or, and I am joking with this one, "Goodison (water) Park" Doo Daa Blue. (16/10/02)

As regards to the name of the new ground,we should call the full complex Goodison Park and the actual ground the "Kings Dock Arena" or Saint Domingo's as was said by Mike Bond,The Kings Dock would be aptly named as George the V (I think) was actually the first reigning monarch to visit a football ground in this country and he said of Goodison park "it is the finest and most complete ground in the whole kingdom"....Pure class,as for running out to simple minds ,well I am sorry its sacrilege not to run out to Zcars,if the hairs on the back of your neck don't stand up when you hear the intro to this tune then your not a blue, unfortunately at times at Everton there are people within the club hell bent on self destruction and if these people are not weeded out and destroyed then we may not get the go ahead for the new ground or be a force to be reckoned with ever again,so will the real blues on the board please stand up ,show yourselves and be counted, Brian Alexander Pattie. (16/10/02)

Why not "Kings Park"? Once the Stadium is built it will cease to be a Dock anyway. Just say it to yourself a few times and it starts to sound right. Robbie Shields. (16/10/02)

I can't see a problem with calling the place "The Dixie", but I have to say there is nothing wrong with the spine tingling name we have at the moment. I would still be happy with "Goodison". Joff. (16/10/02)

IM a true blue from across the Mersey and believe me, there's nothing that could make me more happy than walking to the end of my street to see the new 'GOODISON BLUE MERSEY STADIUM' Which says it all. 'We are the People's Club'. Jim! (16/10/02)

I reckon from reading all the rest that 'The Kings Arena' has a ring to it, Chris Simpson is right - we could be leaving the New Anfield, why not call one of the stands after Goodison to keep everyone happy and if they have a museum then we can dedicate part of that to our present dwelling. Its a time of looking forward but not forgetting the past, plus think of how it would wind those whinging paranoid twats across the park up with the name Kings in it. Top site keep up the good work...Ged, Cyprus. (16/10/02)

I THINK THE NEW GROUND SHOULD BE CALLED ST. DOMINGOS. AFTERALL, THAT WAS OUR ORIGINAL NAME & WE SHOULD DEDICATE A NAME OF EACH STAND TO EVERTON LEGENDS i.e THE DIXIE DEAN STAND, THE HOWARD KENDELL STAND OR EVEN NAME ONE STAND THE GOODISON STAND... BOSS SITE... POWER TO THE PEOPLES CLUB...! THE KIRKBY KID...! (16/10/02)

New stadium should be "The Dixie Dean Arena", then the 4 stands should be named after Howard Kendall, Alex Young, Harry Catterick & Neville Southall. PS What is Big Nev doing these days, shouldn't there be a place on the coaching staff for him, the man deserves a job for life!! Darryl Cole, Perth. Australia. (16/10/02)

It has to be THE NEW GOODISON PARK for me. I have no objection to moving to a new stadium either in the city centre or on the M62 near Widnes as long as we get the stadium the fans deserve, but lets take as much of our history and tradition with us as we can. Everton Football Club play at Goodison Park or A new Goodison Park. End of debate. Steve. (16/10/02)

It must be called Kings Dock. That's already its name. When we moved to Goodison I doubt anyone wanted to call it New Anfield. I doubt we decided to call it Goodison either because Goodison Park was its name already. Having a sponsor's name included would make us look ridiculous. Alan, Paris. (16/10/02)

The new stadium will be magnificent if it looks anything like it's planned to be - however, even though other folks will be using 'our' stadium, we need to ensure that it will clearly associated with EVERTON FC first and foremost.

I therefore feel that it needs to have an element of the old days carried over with it - so I would plum for either a previous Everton great such as the Dixie Dean Stadium (a great son of L'pool whichever way you look at it), or The Goodison Stadium - I dont like anything with the word Dock - or of course L'pool in it!! Cheers. Martin Anderson. (16/10/02)

There are some great and very original suggestions but we need to be realistic. I'd love "The Everton Kings' Arena" but I'd settle for "The Kings' Arena". Actually, I'd settle for f*****g anything as long as they build the twat!!! Come on you Blues.
Mick Dempsey. (17/09/02)

I think it should be called THE NEW GOODISON PARK STADIUM.... SEAN FAHYE, FUERTEVENTURA, SPAIN. (17/09/02)

I THINK THE NEW STADIUM SHOULD BE CALLED-THE WATERFRONT ARENA. THE TEAM SHOULD RUN OUT TO 'WATERFRONT" BY SIMPLE MINDS,IT'D BE PRETTY STUNNING.EVERY OTHER TEAM WOULD BE PIG SICK.
SIMON LLOYD. (17/09/02)

Kings Dock. What else could it be called? John Burns-Curtis. (17/09/02)

I think something like the Kings Arena or the Peoples Stadium would be great. I certainly hope we get some sort of sponsorship for the ground but we still need an Everton term in the name so it still feels like home. But PLEASE nothing with "Waterfront" in it.
True Blue Neil. (17/09/02)

I think it should be called Dixie's Kings Dock Stadium. GuðnýogJónatan (17/09/02)

The Peoples Club Stadium. F1Racer60. (17/09/02)

its gotta have 'Goodison' in it. Please Mr. Kenwright make sure it does! David Sharples. (17/09/02)

I agree with Bob from Runcorn about the name of the stands its a great idea, but I think we should call it Goodison Dock to keep it historic. Tom H from Widnes. (17/09/02)

I think the stadium should be called " Goodison 2" After the ground with we have called home for the past 100 years PS Great web site PPS"COME ON U BLUES" Lets have a good season this one ay .... From Jay (17/09/02)

I think the stadium should be called the centenary stadium to show off our feat. The stands should be called after true Evertonians that have changed the clubs history for the better. Another suggestion is the blue bowl because of its shape.
Matthew Stephens aged 13. (17/09/02)

blue dock or Goodison waterfront. Bob q. (17/09/02)

It would be sacrilege to remove the name GOODISON from our ground. We've got to many memories to loose it. If we have to get a corporate sponsor involved why cant we just have their f*ckin names plastered all over it# without naming the stadium after them. Red Shite are pure nobshite and I would love nothing more than to gloat at those b*stards in their Anfield shitehole. Cmon lads we've had years of underachievement, mismanagement and settling perennial relegation struggles. Its time we moved onwards and upwards and regained some of the glory we experienced in the eighties. I'm a Welsh born kiwi whose blue thru and thru. I grew up next door to Big Nev in Llandudno and I'm sick of telling people why I support such an underachieving team.....2005/6 Season - Goodison Park Arena - 55,000 seater......Champions League, championship race...........make my dreams a reality.
Colin(named by me Dad after Colin Harvey of course). London. (17/09/02)

We should have dock no where near the name. Imagine the piss taking about scousers standing at the dock.
Patto, Oxford Jambo Blue. (17/09/02)

We all need to release that where a club that needs money and plenty of it. The Stadium will be used as an International concert venue. This will raise more money for the club than the football side. Let's see if Everton have the business sense to create a bidding war, and sell the name to the highest bidder. The more money we get, the better the it is for the club....History is great, but it don't pay the bills. Paul Albert. (17/09/02)

"Goodison on the royal blue Mersey" R. Jackson. (17/09/02)

The Golden vision. Jimmy Byrne. (17/09/02)

How about "Goodison, on the royal blue Mersey" - I know a bit long but we should keep Goodison in there for the people that have supported the club for 100 years. Will Barmby still be injured against us at Leeds (little tw*t) - Jason / H. Wycombe. (17/09/02)

I THINK THAT WHAT EVER THE STADIUM GETS CALLED IT SHOULD HAVE A AREA NAMED IN HONOUR HOWARD KENDALL. THIS MAN IS A LEGEND AND IT'S TIME WE STARTED TREATING HIM AS ONE!
MARTIN FROM BROADGREEN. (17/09/02)

I think we should name the Ground The Kings Dock Stadium. This area also has a History which is synonymous with the City of Liverpool. Its links to the docks and dockers, the Regality of the Kings Dock and Victoria's gateway to the Empire, and passion of the Peoples club and top flight football. Its a history shared. It would be nice to nice to have a Dean Stand or a Kendall Stand, but if someone like Coke or Pepsi want to fund our revival then so be it. Everton Forever, Kopites are gobshites!!!!!
Colin Garland - Wirral. (17/09/02)

Until we get a team fit for a new stadium. The name could be similar to Sunderland's but slightly different, "The Stadium of Shight". Brian William Coffey. (17/09/02)

IF it ever comes off BLUEOUSE, BLUEPARK, GOODISON BLUE. bang on site kipper boys / Bluenose. shropshire. (17/09/02)

Let's just keep it simple and classy. Oh and new, cos it's all about moving on to a new era. I reckon the "King's Arena" has a certain ring to it anyway. Mike P. (17/09/02)

Goodison Kings Dock. Sounds good. I'm all for selling the rights to buy players though. Rather have a good team than a good name. GBHammy. (17/09/02)

I would name it Kings Dock Arena .K.D, the KD referring to Kendall and Dean, hope it comes off, typical Everton, build us up, blow us down. Jem Fitzsimons. (17/09/02)

It does not matter what we want to call it. Everton will call it the Keijan super stadium! or who ever is sponsoring us! If we can name the stadium Goodison will do or the new Goodison beside the Mersey! It will beat hulls new name! The Kingston Communication Community stadium. Stualdus. (17/09/02)

The" Marlon Brando Stadium " , because it's on the waterfront -- and we could have been a contender. Ken Jones. (17/09/02)

How about 'The San Domingo Stadium'. It would have a bit of ring to it and identify it with some of the best in the world.
Mike Bond. (17/09/02)

When we left anfield for Goodison we didn't call it the new anfield, and if the rs acquire Goodison for a car park we don't want the new ground to be associated with a car park for future generations to be ridiculed. By all means have a hall of excellence Gallery depicting great moments from the past but the new ground should be as modern in name as it is in design leaving room for future Everton greats not just our heroes from yesteryear. That's why it should have nothing to do with the name of our present sanctuary but one that reflects our aspirations for the future like the Blue Olympus stadium, or Blue Valhalla or even bluetopia you know something blue and a home to gods. Chris Simpson. (17/09/02)

I think the new stadium should be called Kings Dock - why? Well Goodison was our spiritual home and before that we were based at Anfield. Now we're moving once again to become the new kings of Europe. What better way to celebrate our reemergence than a name that reflects our aspirations to be kings of the league again. Tarby. (17/09/02)

I think id name it Evertonia, which doubles as the name of my daughter. I like it because it provokes an image of a marvelous, mythical place, sort of like an Evertonian heaven.Either that or the Keijan ninja dome, for similar reasons. Cheers.
Zac - 1st lieutenant of general Moyes. (17/09/02)

Call it the " The Kings Stadium, Goodison " for three plain reasons 1) Kings Dock, 2) Kings Regiments is the Cities own regiment and 3) Goodison. Its important we keep the old, but don't be afraid of the new. In time we will have a King so why not be the best. If you have KING in your name other people look up, we look down!! NIL SATIS NISI OPTIMUM. Regards. Alan. (17/09/02)

The Everton FC Amphitheatre. Les D. The Manic St.End Preacher. (17/09/02)

well lads for me the new stadium should have some mention of Dixie dean. The Dixie dean stadium,I have read somewhere he wasn't very keen on the name Dixie,so maybe the William Ralph dean stadium, but nothing else comes to mind. sunny runny. (17/09/02)

I see all the people coming up with the name for the stadium and they are using DIXIE in the title. It is a well known fact that Dixie Dean hated the name Dixie so the ground should be the William Ralph Dean stadium. Martin. (17/09/02)

The worst solution for me would be that it was named after, and an on-going advertisement for some corporate sponsor. I would like the name Goodison, our spiritual home retained. Any money gained from 'naming rights' would not be used to get new players. The original argument for adverts on shirts was that it would lead to reduced prices, cheaper entry etc. Let's not get caught again. If we really want to get up people's noses why not called it the 'New Anfield' because that is where the People's Club originated. Cheers Robert Balmain. (17/09/02)

I have just been looking through the suggested names for the new stadium and I couldn't see a suggestion for what I believe is the most obvious name of all, THE EVERTON STADIUM. Surely the most well known stadium in the world is the Yankee stadium -
"home of the New York Yankees".
"The Everton Stadium - Home of Everton Football Club" could be equally as well known throughout the world in 10 years time through both its roles as a football stadium and concert venue.

If making Everton Football Club a world renowned name whilst keeping a strong link to our footballing history and club roots is the aim then this name hits the spot. It may not sound contemporary or sexy but it sounds good and will sound just as good in 50 years time.

I haven't survived the traumas of being an Evertonian for 40-odd years without becoming more of a realist than a dreamer. A sponsors advertising agency will have the biggest say in the name if there is money at stake. Rather than end up with the Big Mac Dome or something as equally nightmarish a sponsors name could, if necessary, be inserted into the title, e.g. The Everton Coca Cola Stadium and when city and sponsorship money withdraws from football as it surely will at some stage in the future - giving us our game back - we can simply drop the sponsors name and revert to The Everton Stadium. Frank Malone. (17/09/02)

The new stadium should be called Kings Dock Arena or Kings Dock Stadium simply because that is what it is. Riverside would do had Boro not taken it first. No corporate name should go anywhere near it. To name it after an ex player is in my opinion very tacky. Chris, Lancashire. (17/09/02)

We should never lose the memory of Goodison Park and the great things that were achieved and experienced there by so many Evertonians so I think the new ground should just be named 'Goodison'. Then the stands should be named after the legends, take your pick which ones although Dixie and the Dome MUST be included. The Dixie statue should come too. Blue Jamie (17/09/02)

In view of our exploits in the refreshment area, how about 'The Bowyers Pies Stadium of Hopeless Optimism' ? or on a more positive note, the obvious choice is 'New Goodison' Pete Kelly. (17/09/02)

I think the Stadium should be called something like "The Toffee Arena" Lee Crosby. (17/09/02)

THE NAMING ISSUE AT KINGS DOCK By Mickey Blue Eyes.

What's in a name? Well, nothing if you don't mind being called Mongo when your name is really Jack. See, it does matter because it carries a sense of identity. Only criminals and malfunctionals want to change their identity.

This is just as pertinent in the discussion of a proposed name for our possible move to a new stadium/arena at Kings Dock. What you call it will be part of our identity for a long time to come. Best to get it right first time and not go through the trauma of later changes.

In my view the new stadium/arena has to be indelibly identified with Everton Football Club, preferably with an unmistakable tag. That's why I reckon it should be named "The Evertonian" or something similar. After all, it wouldn't exist (always presuming it does get built) without the initiative of our club. I wouldn't object either to "Goodison Park" since that has a link with the past and the whole world knows who plays there.

But I object wildly to something bland or, worse, branded. Here's why.

We all know that a camel is really a horse designed by committee. Namewise, what else could drive Derby to swap the unforgettably named Baseball Ground for the instant enema of Pride Park, or Middlesborough to decide on Riverside Stadium instead of Ayresome Park? Yeuk. Sunderland at least had the courage to go for Stadium of Light in a mistaken straight pinch from the Estadio da Luz in Portugal. Mistaken, because Luz is actually the area around the stadium, not the scientific condition…but it matters not, it has a ring to it. Congratulations to the Mackems. It's no coincidence that both Derby's and Boro's new grounds are right in the middle of awful industrial estates and they probably sought to relieve that with titles which might go well on an American suburban condo.

Speaking of which, the Yanks usually know how to deal with this stadium name thing. Few people will not know who plays at the Yankee Stadium. And new stadia have names like Jacobs Field and Camdens Yard and other similar kinds of individual statements. I'm all in favour of anything which livens up life and gets us away from chips with everything.

So what have we heard so far from the committee responsible for the Kings Dock? Now here's a surprise: Waterfront Stadium. It's enough to make you lock and load and go massacre the whole lot of them. Count me in with yourself and the rest of the firing squad if you want to leave the Suits full of holes. Waterfront Stadium…..it has the ring of a wet cardboard box and the imagination of a duck. Why, you wonder groaning inwardly, do people do this to themselves? It reminds me of Dunroamin' and Rose Cottage without the pizzaz. It has all the appeal of suet pudding, porridge and tripe. Why do they have to be so fucking mediocre? If we can't shoot the perpetrators we ought at least to be able to force them to their knees and batter them with rolled up copies of Private Eye filled with lead.

And lurking over the horizon is the truly awful threat of naming rights. Now, committee Suits are bad. But gawd save us from corporate Suits who are downright evil and three times worse in their one-dimensional anonymity. Look no further than Railtrack for the evidence. You can also find it at the disgracefully named Reebok and McAlpine stadia. Nike/Adidas/Puma/Murdoch/Hollands Pies/Coca-Pepsi Cola anybody? They pays the money and steals your identity. If you let them. Who wants to sell their soul for a mess of pottage and peanuts? No sir, count me out of that one and no mistake. I can't stand the horrors of MacDonalds either.

So I say ditch the bland and the putrid and go for it, really go for it, with The Evertonian.

We have nothing to lose but our name. Is that alright with you, Jack? Mickey Blue Eyes.
