*lets call it the 50,000 seater stadium in Bill Kenwright's dreams! cos thats where its gonna stay! Kris Hutchinson. (15/02/03)

*No No No No NO!!! If well all stop giving silly names, like the "Peoples Stadium" and the "Dixie Dean Stadium (fantastic player and servant to the club but.....) There is only ONE sensible choice, it is the name we have had, still have and should keep GOODISON. It glides off the tongue like "Liverpool have lost again!!!". It sound so good, it feels good....it is GOODISON!!! Toffee Si. (15/02/03)

*I agree with Kevin Richardson. (24/01/03), the stadium should be either "Goodison Park" or "New Goodison Park". There are plenty of professional footballers who never fancy the trip to Goodison, that's the way it is and that's the way it should be! The suggestion ' SHIT ON ANFIELD STADIUM' is literally crap, as they are beneath contempt and not worth mentioning! Great site, especially for the remote armchair supporters! Graeme Morrison, True Blue in Devon. (15/02/03)

*I think we should name it "Goodison Dock" this still links the club with the past and also into the future !! Ian Hodgson. (15/02/03)

*How about 'Wayne's World' ? Rob. (15/02/03)

*Why not call it the Paul Gregg Stadium..because thats what it will be. Gav Parry. Park End Season Ticket Holder. (15/02/03)

*How about the Trinity Stadium after mssrs Ball, Harvey and Kendall. Andy Creevy. (15/02/03)

*I think some of us are getting a little carried away and are in danger of making us a laughing stock. Look at Sunderland's 'Stadium of Light' or Derby's 'Pride Park'. OK, they don't sound too bad now, but admit it, when you first heard them you laughed out loud and took the piss out of any of their fans you were unlucky enough to know.

The best names are short and catchy and have a certain mystique about them. Wembley, Highbury, Old Trafford, Anfield (it's OK, we can take the credit for that) and of course Goodison Park. There's nothing wrong with keeping Goodison, but we need to bring it up to date as we are not going to be at 'Goodison Park'.

Also, we need to reflect the duality of the site, so I suggest A name, and a sub-name. The Name in BIG shiny blue letters should be 'GOODISON', or possibly 'FORTRESS GOODISON', after all we do have a fort as our logo. This is the name you'll hear on Five Live and Sky Sports, "The teams run out at Fortress Goodison..." or "Liverpool haven't won yet at Fortress Goodison...".

The Sub-Name, underneath in slighhtly smaller shiny blue letters can be the 'Kings Stadium', 'The Kings Arena' or 'The Stadium of Kings' or something like that so that concerts can be at 'The Kings Arena, Liverpool'. If needs be the Sub-Name could have a sponsor like the Nynex / MEN Arena in Manchester, just as long as it isn't 'The Littlewoods Stadium of Kings'.

I agree that we should have 'The Dixie Dean Stand', 'The Kendal Stand', 'The Southall Stand (although 'The Southall Sit' might be more appropriate)', etc... as we should honour our greats. Hope the Stadium goes ahead and we don't go under as a result. Good
Luck and many thanks to David and the Boys for a fantastic season so far, here's to a European place next year, and great site guys, keep it up. Chris Parr. Sandbach, Cheshire
. (15/02/03)

*Why don't we just call it the ' SHIT ON ANFIELD STADIUM', that will piss the red shite off. Daryl long. (24/01/03)

*Assuming we do move to the Kings Dock, whenever it may be, I think the only name the stadium should be called is THE KINGS DOCK. Everton FC have lived in the past for far too long and whilst the name of Dixie Dean will forever be linked to the club, there is no way that the stadium should be named after him.

As for the blerts who suggest names connected to the Beatles, get real will yer. Two of them are stiffs and the other two wouldn't even know where the city of Liverpool is anymore. I suppose these people would want the stands named after other great scousers like Tarby (Ho, Ho, where's me mate Lynchy) and 'Ar Cilla (best mate to mincing brown-hatters Winton, Savage and Biggins)
Keith Mc
. (24/01/03)

*how about "ROYAL BLUE HEAVEN" - sponsored of course by IBM - is their corporate nickname not 'Big Blue' ??
dennis the menace. (24/01/03)

*True Blue Stadium or The New Goodison Park. Daniele Zanato. Johannesburg. South Africa. (24/01/03)

*I agree the name should be the peoples stadium. [if you know your history]. ThomasBlues. (24/01/03)

*i think the name should be the DOCKER. Gill Sheppard. (24/01/03)

*'The Heart of the Mersey' for the ground name, no commie sounding 'peoples republic of everton' and a nice two fingers to the kopshite. Stands should honour past heroes with my suggestion of Dean, Catterick,Kendall, Southall and Ratcliffe. And not forgetting the 'Walter Smith Memorial Bogs' with urinals in the shape of his and Knox's faces. BornToBeBlue. (24/01/03)

*I think we should call it KINGS DOCK, and below it have, 'THE PEOPLE'S CLUB' and 'PRIDE OF MERSEYSIDE' Great site lads, Adam(gizmo). (24/01/03)

*nothing original here, but i agree with naming it after dixie, but i think the name with the best ring to it was Mark Parsons "School of Science Stadium." How good would that be? As for the stands, no sponsorship, they should be named after former greats, dixie, ted sagar, neville southall, brian labone, kevin ratcliffe. (still my all-time hero, even after shrewsbury!) but I dont think the Nick Barmby Stand, or the Claus Thomsen End would go down too well! Smudge. (24/01/03)

*how 'bout the rooney stadium. Sam Stokes. (24/01/03)

*The name for are magnificent new stadium should be "The New Goodison Arena". Markblue3. (24/01/03)

*there is only one name to call the new ground and thats GOODISON. Goodison is know all over the world to be the home of efc and it should stay that way. Kevin Richardson. (24/01/03)

*the Goodison arena, with a dixie deane end, harry catterick end, howard kendall end and the rat end.
Paul Andrew Lenehan. (24/01/03)

*i think the "dixie dean memorial ground" or "stadium of pride" or even "dixie dean stadium of pride". leave out the people's stadium thing, it just doesnt sound good enough to be next to the words Everton F.C! Gilly (a born blue). (24/01/03)

*hi i think the stadium should be called school of excellence or dixies den!!!! from the mad blue fan x x x (24/01/03)

*I THINK THE NEW STADIUM SHOULD BE CALLED THE BLUE FOR EVER STADIUM COZ THATS WOT MOST OF US ARE BLUE THROGH AND THROUGH. Alison Moss. (24/01/03)

*AFTER SOME INTENSE THOUGHT,AND SCROLLING THROUGH MY MEMORY BANK OF SOME OF THE LEGENDS WHO HAVE PROUDLY DONNED THE ROYAL BLUE,I FEEL THE STADIUM SHOULD BE NAMED AFTER ONE OF OUR MANY GREATS.TYPICAL EXAMPLES SUCH AS THE DEAN STADIUM, SAGAR PARK,OR SOUTHALL ROAD,MAY SPRING TO MIND STRAIGHT AWAY,BUT WITHOUT DOUBT I BELIEVE OUR NEW HOME FOR THE NEXT HUNDRED YEARS AND MORE SHOULD BE NAMED "THE GEOFF NULTY STADIUM",AFTER ONE OF OUR ALL TIME LEGENDS FROM THE GORDON LEE ERA OF THE LATE 70's.ANY TAKERS? (LAVO AINTREE). (24/01/03)

*I know it's blatantly obvious and pretentious, but why not call it the 'King's Stadium'. Mike Craig. (24/01/03)

*How about "the i,ll believe it when i see it stadium" Can't see how it's going to be financed, without getting us sucked into to much debt. aka leicester. derby. and others facing ruin. Tony Graham. (24/01/03)

*what a welcome sight as you walk up to the ground as "welcome to the school of science" "efc" enough said.
Neil Scott. (24/01/03)

*How about ' The Stadium of Kings' or ' The Peoples Republic of Everton Arena' - Col Forshaw. (24/01/03)

*I disagree with most options volunteered by the fans at present, I have favour with the fact that Everton have a church as part of our stadium. So why not admit we are giving the city a third Cathedral in the shape of a magnificent stadium on the harbour front. So hence the name ithe blue Cathedral. Bobby Mc. EOM. (24/01/03)

*Ay Bluekipper , how about we call it '' THE BEATLES MEMORIAL ARENA ON THE DOCK '' or ''THE 'DIXIE' DEAN MEMORIAL ...''
1)more fans from the orient the Japanese Beatle mads
2)thecouncil and Echo on our side coz the staidium 'issue' would turn into a Merseyside 'issue' (even though it is)
3) the bid for Capital of European Culture will have an affect from our staidium (next year when we r in Euro comps will get us more recognised around Europe) From diehard evertonians! (24/01/03)

*Assuming we do move to the Kings Dock, whenever it may be, I think the only name the stadium should be called is KINGS DOCK. Everton FC have lived in the past for far too long and whilst the name of Dixie Dean will forever be linked to the club, there is no way that the stadium should be named after him.

*As for the blerts who suggest names connected to the Beatles, get real will yer. Two of them are stiffs and the other two wouldn't even know where the city is anymore. Keith Mc. (24/01/03)

*We all know that our club is so adventurous that they are most likely to call the ground New Goodison, but our history demands that it be named after W.R. Dean. His achievements will never be matched let alone surpassed. Don McIntyre. (24/01/03)

*How about "The Grand Illusion" Stadium or for the more intellectual toffeeman the "Waiting for Godot" Stadium? Sorry to be cynical but you know.... Paul Tandy. (24/01/03)

*What about "The school of science"..Ian. (24/01/03)

*I think the new stadium name should be called "THE ROYLE STADIUM" From del phillips, aged 13. (24/01/03)

*well how about the "its not gonna happen stadium" or the "another fine fcuk up by evertons corporate affairs ground" sorry for the cynical attitude but anyway our finances have now been sussed and I am afarid but Bill is not up for it...not that I am being negative about Bill but unless he joins forces with Bill Gates...like he will....ha ha (sarcasm) he was a honest with us about buying Agent Johnson's shares which has now broke him...... We need him to get McCartney on board ...and yes......John Lennon was a kopite!!! Alan. (24/01/03)

*LET'S NEVER COUNT OUR CHICKENS.........

However, it's great news that appears to be leaking out that Bill K might be closer to getting the money secured to push on with the Kings Dock project. One MAJOR thing that Bill is famous for is using his immense powers of persuasion to get other people / organisations to put up money to convert his "concepts" into profitable reality. I think that Bill probably thought that getting Mr Gregg involved in the consortium to take over the Club would, as a natural bi product, secure the funds for the ground re-location, that eventually emerged as the Kings Dock "vision".

I have to say, I am considerably disappointed in Mr Gregg. Having looked closely at his "lease back" proposals, that seem quite reasonable when he first presented them, it is clear that, in essence, it ripped the guts out of the financial equation upon which Bill had based the project, by diverting, for a considerable number of years, the "non football" income to be generated by the Site (which, to a major degree would be for team building) into his (Mr Gregg's) own pocket.

It's no wonder that the EFC Board were "split"!

To those many true Blues who have been mystified as to why there has been such minimal "public" debate about what I suspect were the battles raging within the Everton hierarchy, I can only suggest that the doctrine of "Corporate Responsibility", (which means, basically, that Company Directors are forbidden, by law, from debating their differences of opinion in public) has prevented any press release to the effect: "Mr Gregg is being a greedy T**t. Over our dead bodies is he going to scupper our "vision" for re-establishing Everton as a Premier Club, in a Premier Ground"

I sincerely hope that Bill's latest efforts put the project back on track succeed. If Bill does pull it off (raising £30mil for a 50% stake in a £350mil site!) he deserves a knighthood, never mind a CBE. Elaine Tattersall. (24/01/03)

*Rooneyville...nuff said. Pete Gillespie. (24/01/03)

*How about: The People's Stadium or The People's Arena seeing as we are the People's Club!!!! Regards, David Jones. (24/01/03)

*How about " The Cavern " Tony, West Palm Beach. USA. (24/01/03)
