Kings Dock

Blue Kipper has been involved with the "Everton for Kings Dock" movement from the start. Everton Director Paul Gregg tells of his aspirations for The Kings Dock.

Everton director, Paul Gregg, who along with Bill Kenwright owns Everton Football Club has come out at last to tell us what he will be doing, now he has left Clear Channel Entertainment. This company was formally known as SFX. SFX was named as a bid partner by Blue Bill in the fancy CD Rom, on the day the bids were announced many months ago. Gregg, who has said he knows very little about football, & Everton said: "I'm going to spend more time developing the scheme. That includes conference, housing and leisure opportunities as well Kings Dock. We are building an arena that will attract any major event worldwide to the Kings Dock. We will be in a position to go to every entertainments presenter and say: 'This is what we can offer you, do you want to part be of it?'"

Potential events could be Labour and Conservative party conferences, the Brit Awards, BSkyB boxing, the ice dancing championships of Europe, & MTV music industry awards.

Paul Gregg says: "Our job now is to go out there and say Liverpool offers the best and we would like you to use it. We will be encouraging Disney on Ice and Holiday on Ice and we are hoping that Cirque de Soleil, who do a London season, will, with these facilities, also do a Liverpool season. This is about providing the audience, providing the venue and providing the city."

These artists will only be booked for the Kings Dock, two years before it is due to open in 2005.

Paul Gregg says: "We do not know now who all these major artists will be in 2005. I'm confident if Liverpool has world-class facilities, it can become the foremost entertainment and conference venue in the UK,"

A spokesman for Clear Channel Entertainment claims that they never had any direct involvement in the Kings Dock scheme. Well someone had it wrong.

Paul Gregg says: "Clear Channel continues to support the Everton bid. They, like everybody else in the entertainment industry, want the best venue for their artists."

Early Spring is the time when a final decision will be made on whether to go ahead with Everton's bid. Until then, Everton need months to prove their commercial case for the stadium and arena.

When Paul Gregg speaks about The Kings Dock, he stresses the city, not Everton Football Club. This is fine by us, as he is nothing but a businessman, & he is not an Evertonian. We have enough of them on the board. If we play our first game at The Kings Dock in August 2005, we will have a lot of people to thank, but mainly Paul Gregg, Evertonian or not.
