* Whilst I agree with white socks in a new kit, traditionally, The blues always played in Blue socks with a white turnover. -- see pictures of Dixie Dean --- this was changed in (about) 1967 to white with a blue turnover and can be seen on the photos with Roy Vernon / Alex Young etc. I remember thinking at the time I preferred the blue -- which was re-introduced later by I think Gordon Lee. * Love the old design; I'm all for a retro style, since not much else seems likely to bring back the Good Old Days. Question though: can Everton be the first club to dump the baggy shorts? Who the hell brought them in in the early 90s, and why? They don't look good, and having had to wear them, they don't feel good. Bring back the old style ones of the 70s and 80s; they're called shorts for a reason (and Stanley Matthews is long gone). Come to think of it, if we wanted to be really radical, we could pioneer a new kind of jersey altogether, and I think the Australian Football style (sleeveless) makes one hell of a statement. Retro can be cool, but just like so many other things at our club “we are way off the mark” (could have put a biffa joke in there but not after this performance at the weekend). To be honest though the kits don’t really matter – mugs like me will still buy one for myself and one for the littlun. Can’t remember a kit that made us play better or worse; its just a shirt (better ask Alex Ferguson about the grey kit for bad performances – we cant complain though our grey kits done us well this year). If I’m honest I have never really like many of the Umbro kits, we seemed to have cracked it a few years ago with puma – never mind, typical Everton, you think they have cracked it and somehow it always backfires. Please do not encourage the club to return to blue socks as we look like Leicester City. In my opinion the white socks make us instantly recognisable and hold with a style and tradition that all Evertonians associate with. I think that the badge could do with re-designing as well.
