Of The League
Last
Saturday was the first day of most of the girls seasons, the match details
are below. However the Ladies first team have considerably strengthened
the side during the summer and now have six England internationals in
the side - they have started the season fantastically and have won 4
league games out of four including a hammering of Leeds 8-0 at Leeds
on the opening day of the season ! Last weekend they beat Lincoln 6-0
in the first round of the league cup with Chantelle Parry(2), Kelly
McDougall, Fara Williams, Michelle Evans and Jody Handley scoring for
the Toffees.
Everton Boss, Mo Marley says: “After the opening goal
Lincoln defended really well up to half-time, whereas our players seemed
to lack the same energy. But the second half was a different story with
the girls impressing from kick-off, scoring two sensational goals in
the first few minutes. We continued to improve as the game went on,
with an outstanding performance in the second half. Once again we have
managed to keep our 100% record, which is great for the team.”
Tonight, (Wed. 15/09/04) at Walton Hall Park, Everton ladies
play Liverpool in the first derby of the season at 7:30p.m.
The rest of the ladies
/ girls details from the weekend are as follows.
Everton
u16 2 v 0 Mossley Hill
The Blues started their season with a hard fought 2-0 win over a battling
Mossley Hill . Mossley started the stronger of the two sides and took
the game to Everton . The Blues defence stood firm and slowly Everton
got into the game creating chances when they played the ball about.
However they could not turn them into goals. Mossley Hill only had
one clear chance which was dealt with by the keeper . The second half
was better for the Blues as we started to string passes together creating
more chances it was from two of these moves that the Toffee's scored
through Micha dean and Jenny Probert. Overall a difficult game to
start our season but a good platform to build on.
Everton
u14 1 v 2 Manchester Utd.
Apparently, our girls had an off day - the girls who play in this age
group have mostly been together (in two different age groups) for 3
or 4 years and have not been beaten by United before, so it was not
a nice experience that might do the girls good in the coming season.
Casey Currie scored the goal.
Southport
1 v 1 Everton St. Domingo's (Ladies A)
Top of the table Southport gave Everton a tough match in gale force
winds on the seaside, and though Everton dominated most of the match,
only a Catherine Martin goal was managed. Everton had 4 or 5 clear cut
opportunities to win the game but missed them, and the midfield constantly
over hit their passes in the wind as the team struggled to turn superiority
to goals. However the back line of Catherine Martin, Clare Rule, Gemma
Morris and Vicky Stewart played well and Rhianne Barker made a very
competent debut in goal. Louise Rogers ran her heart out for player
of the game and Gemma Parsley also put in a good display. However we
need to improve in certain areas of the field to beat Wigan on Sunday.
Everton
u 10's A 2 v 0 The Wirral.
A 2-0 in their first game of the season, with Jess Miley and Emma McFawn
scoring the two goals. The girls dominated the match for most of the
game but couldn't get a goal - leaving it late to finally secure the
three points.
Everton u10's B 2 v 1 Tranmere.
A 2-1 win with Shannon Beckwith and Amy Rawcliffe gaining the young
side a 2-0 lead. Tranmere got one back late on but we held on to get
all of the points.
Everton u12's A 4 v 0 Everton u12's B.
Everton sides played each other in the opening Liverpool league fixture
with the A team running out 4-0 winners. Alex Greenwood, Chelsea Penny,
Paige Forster and Nicole Johnston scoring the goals.
Everton
u12's A 13 v 0 Bury u12's A.
The A team also played on Sunday in the Lancashire League beating Bury
Girls 13 - 0.
