Hay
Ya! Everton Ladies
Another
fantastic season for all of the girls sides with the 12's likely to
win both the Liverpool and the Lancashire leagues (fingers crossed for
no major slip ups). The 14's have finished runners up in their Lancashire
league age group, the 16's can still win their league if they win all
of their remaining games and the Ladies "A" team also looking
good for runners up spot in their first season in the North West Womens
Reagional League division 3.
All four sides are in their respective cup finals coming up over the
next 2 weeks, no Manchester Utd's to contend wit this year for the 12's
or 14's who have both knocked out our main rivals in previous rounds.
Lancashire FA CUP SEMI FINAL
Manchester United u14's 0 v 4 Everton
Ladies u14
Both teams gave total commitment to this
game which produced a game worthy of the final. United
had the upper hand early on taking control of the midfield, however
the Blues did battle back into the game and did produce a couple of
half chances in this tight game. With 10 minutes to go to half time
United created the best chance of the game bringing a good save from
Gemma in the Blues goal. This sparked the Blues to step up a gear and
put United under pressure again and created a couple of chances that
flew over the bar .
The second half started with Everton taking the upper hand , and forcing
the United keeper into a couple of saves . Then from some great work
down the right wing from Rachael Dunlop, Hannah Twigg hit a tremendous
volley giving the keeper no chance. From this point the Blues never
looked back and soon went 2-0 up when Faye McCoy hit one from the ed
ge of the box . At this point it was all Everton and it was no surprise
when they hit a third when Cerian Jackson drifted into the box unmarked
to meet a cross from the wing with a great strike. United did battle
back into the game at this point and created their only real chance
of the half hitting a great shot that was covered by Rhianne in the
Blues goal but just went wide. From this the Blues played the ball up
field where Faye latched onto a through ball to hit a rasper into the
far corner. This was a good game for the spectator played in a sporting
manner by both sides . This was a great team performance with all the
girls playing their part and giving their all . Well done thanks to
the parents and spectators for their support.

U16's CRUSH WALES NATIONAL SIDE TO TAKE
EASTER TOURNAMENT
u16's WIN CAMBRIAN TROPHY BEATING WALES
Everton u16's have gone to Pwhelli, Wales this week to play in the Cambrian
News Soccer Trophy 2004, and came home with the silverware crushing
the Welsh National Team 5-1.
Tuesday:- Everton played Liverpool in the first game
of the 4 team tournament. Pwhelli and the Wales under 16 team making
up the four teams.
Our girls had a weakened squad due to some schools opening for extra
GCSE revision and as it turned out only eleven girls arrived at Pwhelli
on the Monday. Two first year under 14's players (Hannah Twigg and Lauren
Hazard) arrived just 15 mins before the Liverpool game and were quickly
ushered into the dressing room to change due to a couple of injuries
picked up in the morning training session.
Everton took an early lead with a well taken goal from Shelly James,
Liverpool equalised before the half time whistle and from that point
on it was all Everton, in fact Liverpool crossed the half way line less
than half a dozen times. All the pressure failed to pay off though and
Liverpool scored on the break with only 3 minutes remaining. Claire
Owen saved the day with a goal very much like a recent Wayne Rooney
strike. She got the ball on the edge of the box and with two red shirts
very close to her she managed to push the ball to one side and slide
a lovely shot into the back of the net to get a well deserved equaliser.
This game was one way traffic and the Blues should have won by a number
of goals, but it was not to be.
Wednesday:- After watching Liverpool lose to the Welsh
national side the Blues lined up (again including the two youngsters)
to play Pwhelli with a fairly large and vocal crowd supporting the local
side. Pwhelli took an early lead but it wasn't long before the Blues
were in control and at half time it was 4-1 to us. The final score was
7-3 with Shelly James and Claire Owen grabbing 2 each and Alice Brown,
Micha Dean and Katie Clinton claiming one each. This was a very difficult
game for t he girls who had a physical Pwhelli side to contend with
as well as a very enthusiastic local crowd.
Everton beat Wales 5-1 to win the trophy on the last day of the tournament,
with Liverpool failing to win a game throughout.
Cheers - Kev Hazard. (23/04/04)

Everton Ladies A team 8 - 0 Frodsham (January
3/4th)
Everton Ladies 'A' team dusted off the Christmas cobwebs with a comprehensive
8-2 win at Frodsham on Sunday. The Rangers are in the top half of the
table and have conceded less than 2 goals a game but they had no match
for the pace and power of the Everton attacks. Anna Tinman with an electrifying
burst of speed opened the scoring and the Blues cruised to a 3-0 lead
with further goals by Nataleigh Cliff and the very impressive Gemma
Parsley in only her second game for the club in centre midfield. A dubious
penalty on the stroke of half-time was saved by Ellen Mitchell only
for the rebound to get put away. Everton restored the 3 goal advantage
through Tinman in the first minute of the second half but Frodsham pulled
back to 4-2. With legs tired due to the very heavy pitch some fresh
legs and positional changes did the trick as Everton blew Frodsham away
in the last 30 minutes with Nataleigh Cliff getting a deserved hat-trick
for her superb performance upfront with a great header included, with
Danielle Green and player of the game Claire 'Molly' Maloney getting
the others. Gemma Morris had an outstanding game first on the left wing
and then as right back for the last half hour and substitute Alex Wooton
played very well in centre midfield. With the Police losing to Burnley,
promotion to Division 2 is looking more likely but the championship
all hinges on the Burnley game on the 25th January at this present time.
The 'A' team have amassed a staggering 93 league and cup goals this
season: Anna Tinman 24, Danielle Green 21, Nataleigh Cliff 16, Louise
Rogers 8, Claire Maloney 7, Abi Freeborn 3,Alex Wooton 3, Gemma Parsley
3, Shelly James 3, Clare Rule 2, Stacey Boyce 1, Vicky Jones 1, Gemma
Morris 1
Fixtures from the weekend January 10/11th.
LANCASHIRE GIRLS LEAGUE
AFC
HINDLEY 0 V 5 EVERTON U12'S A
Everton
u12 remained top of the league with their 100% record intact with their
12th consecutive victory pulling 9 pts clear of Bolton who lost to third
place Preston. Chelsea Norris scored two with Stephanie Marsh, Hannah
Brown and Lorna Smith each bagging one each. The u12's now have a goal
difference of an amazing 152.
UNDER 14'S HAD NO GAME THIS WEEK.
The semi
final cup draw sees the under 14's play Preston with Manchester Utd
and Darwen contesting the other final place. Games to be played 21/22nd
February
BOLTON
1 V 5 EVERTON U16'S
Everton kept up the pressure on Bury with a good win on what is always
a tough away fixture at Bolton, the conditions were terrible but the
girls played some great football on the floor and won comfortably thanks
to goals from Shelly James, Natalie Brady and a hat trick from Claire
Owen. Becky Jones, Katy Clinton Nad Micha Dean all had outstanding games.
The bad news is that Shelly James picked up possible knee ligament damage
that will have her out of action for a few weeks, we wish Shelly a swift
recovery. The u16's have 3 games in hand over the leaders.
NWWRFL DIVISIONAL CUP ROUND 2
EVERTON
LADIES 'A' 3 V 0 LLANGEFNI
Goals:
Louise Rogers, Gemma Morris, Abi Freeborn, Player of the Match Abi Freeborn.
This was not the best performance by the 'A' team as their Welsh visitors
came well-organised defending in numbers. Despite overwhelming territorial
advantage restricting the Welsh side to only one shot saved easily by
keeper Paula Shaw it was a catalogue of missed chances for the girls.
The woodwork was hit 3 times, the goalie made 4 superb saves, there
was a clearance off the line, and the Toffee forwards missed many gilt-edged
chances. Leading scorer flying winger Anna Tinman was injured but even
so Llangefni were let off lightly in a game totally dominated by Everton.
Player of the match was Welsh u19 star Abi Freeborn who excelled against
her Welsh compatriots. Also playing well was Claire Maloney who put
in a tigerish performance at the back. The Quarter Final draw has not
been made, and in the league promotion rivals GMP were beaten 2-0 by
Accrington who took advantage of the fact many of the cops were on duty
at Old Trafford this afternoon.
PREMIER LEAGUE
The Everton Ladies first team travelled to Charlton on Sunday only to
find the game was called off !
Cheers.
