Well we had heard all the pre match gags, Everton could not lose and all that, but in the end it was a night that that only one Everton turned up.

The Blues from Goodison made it six on the spin pre season, and for me this by far was the best win and more importantly performance of our warm up campaign for the season ahead.

Normally technique, skill and ability are comments afforded to South American teams, but last night it was the team from Merseyside those attributes were afforded too.

Moyesy had a host of riches at his disposal. For once with a campaign about to start we have a fully fit squad, and with a Goodison attendance of nearly 26,000 for a friendly optimism for this coming term is through the roof.

New boys Becks, Jan Mucha and Maggie were all on display and none let us down. Seamus played at right back or was that right wing, and he was outstanding.

Mikky graced the park as did Nuts, Jack sat in the holding role in the first period, Screech in the second and it was great to see him back. Throw into the mix Jonny Boy and King Louis who sat this one out, and our optimism should not be played down.

Another player worthy of mention Tiny Tim should have had a hat trick by half time. Good goalkeeping, the woodwork, and a shocker of a miss worked against Tiny. Seamus terrorised their left back, Jack the Lad looked so comfortable in the holding role,  it looked like he had played at that level for years. Jags was Jags at the back, steady as ever, and looking fit as a fiddle after all the rumours of the last week.

Becks our new front man went close, and if the level of service he received last night continues, a bag full of goals should come his way this season. The introduction of Maggie in the second period brought the first goal of the evening and what a belter it was.

Maggie out wide left threw in a fantastic pin point cross down towards the Street End. Becks raised like the proverbial salmon from around the penalty area to guide his header past the CD Everton keeper to give the Blues a one nil lead.

It is what we deserved as our play was top draw. It did not take long till another goal came our way when Billy smashed home a shot after Screech had set him up with a header.

Two nil, the Friendship Cup in the bag, but what was most important last night was the historic meeting of two Everton's.

Special mention to The Ruleteros Society for getting this unique fixture off the ground, and hopefully in the future there will be a few thousand of us heading South America way for the return leg.

On the season in hand, it looks promising, and I for one can't wait. Moyesy has without doubt built a great squad, depth now in most positions, so bring them all on.

The futures bright, the futures Royal Blue.

Amazing game and even better atmosphere, not to mention the sensational fans from Chile. They made so much noise and those drums were great (how the hell did they get them in!!!!!!). I was lucky enough to chat with some in the wetherspoons by central before the game (shocked they and the flag made kick off, there steaks only arrived at 7.30) only downer on the evening is I missed out on one of there shirts, spoke to the guys in the shop and they were all sold out by 10am with 1 guy buying 3 Osca

Went to the match with my family, thought the lads played brilliant. Good to see Marouane back. I also thought that Arteta didnt seem to have his heart in the game,If he does go hope he goes to Spain to be near his family, n not another prem team(dont want him to go mind) Going to the match was a great excuse to get stocked up on our Everton tops n stuff, cant get any at all in the midlands any more. mad as there a lot of us Blues fans down here. Looking forward to the start of the seaso

Went the game last night and thought the same about Arteta. He must be worried sick though about his young kid, He may go home back to Spain to be near his family hope not though because he's a great player no mistake. Rest of the team played really well bring on the new season

Was at the match last night. Took my two eldest for their first match and even dragged my RS wife along (only cost £26! nice one Blue Bill!) I think were all forgetting that the Best Little Spaniard We Know has a lot on his plate at the moment, wiv his lad being diagnosed as partialy sighted. A dip in form should be expected! He still wore the captains arm band for the second half! COYB! IMWT! Once an Evertonian, Twice an Evertonian! Vivamos Everton!!

Will you all stop banging on about Arteta and Peanuts - no one knows if they are going or staying!!! We will deal with it if it happens - like we always do! I would love them to stay...but who knows what they are thinking. All I know is when I was in the ale house the other night, Peanuts was on the karaoke singing its a grand old team to play for with big Dunc who was home from Majorca!!! Arteta was holding the mike and Tiny Tim was getting the ale in!!! COYB

I certainly got that impression from Arteta too...looked vacant at times - didnt take any corners...hardly clapped the fans when warming up...its all speculative but I think he's a gonner. Replace with donovan as no point going after a direct replacement as no-one could fill his shoes so why try...just shuffle the pack/paly a different way etc etc.

Yes I was in the Paddock and it was good to see Beckford's pace on show. His turn and his burst are quite good to be honest, i thought he might be another Marcus Bent but he has a good touch on him and looks the part. However, Arteta, I hope he stays so he's fully focused then. Also, Seamus Coleman is different class, he had my MOTM before they announced JB.

Think the same about Arteta, not great against a weak team. Beckford however was great! Fast, big and goes for lost causes. Good game tonight, deffo MOTM. Cost £0

Well played lads! Next season looks very promising. Looking at Arteta today I think he has his heart set on going. I think that that was his last game in a blue shirt, I hope I am wrong
