We all had a go at picking the side and we all got it wrong. Up front was the most interesting, we had Big Vic and the forgotten Faddy leading the line.

Billy and Felli were in the middle of the park with Maggie and Landon on the flanks. At the back there was a well deserved rest for Bainsey so Phil went left back and Seamus was back on the right. We had Johnny and Sylvain in the middle

Joining Bainsey on the bench were Royston, Strack, Tolis, Duffers, Connor and the Bannerman

Everton thankfully got off to start they needed. After five minutes Landon swung over a corner that the Tamworth goalie completely missed and there was Johnny at the far post to head onto the underside of the cross bar and down into the net

We had a couple of decent chances soon after but couldn't covert

First a decent save stopped Big Vic giving us a second and then decent footy from Billy and Landon gave Faddy a decent chance but his effort was went wide

Kyle Patterson on the half hour hit a hell of an effort that just fizzed passed the post of Tim Howard. It gave us all an indication that Everton had to be very careful

Tamworth were giving it their all and in the last fifteen minutes forced 4 corners and gave us some nervy moments. I would say that David Moyes was the manager who was glad that the half time whistle went

Everton 1 Tamworth 0

There wasn't much going on in the early stages of the first half.

Felli spat his dummy out for being tackled and Seamus Coleman had to come off for Everton's best player Leighton Baines

It is not very good when you want a left back to come on and shake thing up a little bit

The most exciting thing happened was on the hour is that "Operation Goodison" was successful and also Royston Drenthe came on for Faddy

Dennis came on for Victor with about 20 minutes to go

Everton were struggling to make any inroads to the non league club and it was getting more and more depressing watching this performance

Billy brought a decent save from Joe Collister

Royston came on with his usual enthusiasm and burst into the box and got dragged down to get the penalty. Leighton stroked home to put us 2 nil up. The good thing about Royston is he makes things happen.

Landon went close to making it three when his rocket hit the post and bounced wide.

Everton were through to the next round of the FA Cup and that was the most important thing about the result. Well done to Tamworth, they frustrated Everton and gave it everything they had

As for Everton, we just did enough to get through and maybe that's ok, but the performance didn't give us any real hope for the rest of the season. It'll be hard going.

Everton never let you down

I'm giving Leighton Baines my Man of the match because I want to

Baines and Donovan linking was the difference. 2 quality players together. Royston just runs at people and bumps off them. My mate didnt even realise Vic was playing until he got took off. It's not looking good for the rest of the season? Hope I am wrong?

TC I think it was Duffy, called back from his loan at Scunthorpe

With regards to the lad you are talking about TC, from looking at the players list on the Everton website, I can only think that it might have been Adam Forshaw or Conor McAleny but also it's possible it might have been James Wallace.

Some lad warming up on the touchline and at half time in one of our bibs and no shorts but leggings on, didn't recognise him and he wasn't on the team sheets, anyone know who he was?

My objective conclusion is that nobody deserved MoM. Perhaps ref should be awarded, for kindly awarding that pen, which was 50/50 at best. Half of pundits was for and another half against. Royston went down a la Stevie Gleee. Look at him. He is going down the moment he feels Tamworth lad hand on him. How lad who is 20cm smaller and about 30kg lighter than Royston could smash him to the ground with barely a touch. Give me a break. In all very, very poor game. In long spells even worse than vs Bolton. Everton played well for ~6 minutes, until scored. After that we dominated possession, but Tamworth were very much in the game. In the first half our defense fell a sleep when - I think - Paterson ran through entire length of the pitch passing each Everton player as slalom flags/sticks. Patterson missed, but he had enough time to sing whole opera, send a text message and drink a tea before shooting. Nobody closed him down. Everybody backtracked, backtracked and left a hole big enough for jumbo-jet to park in front of 16 yard box. David Moyes reaction said it all - head in hands, shaking head in disbelief that we can be so Bad. Another matter was Billy. Sorry lad. I always supported you. Game against Tamworth was your chance to win some fans over, instead you losing (lost all?) people who said you will come good. During 90 minutes he missed ~80% of passes - nobody told you that Everton playing in Blue?! Yes 2 good shots granted, but you were utter rubbish playing against 5th tier opposition. If you can't play well against amateurs then sorry, pack ASAP. Faddy, Vic sorry lads. 2 shots together in 90 minutes isn't exactly spectacular. Felli was poor, plenty of mistakes. Plus even more injuries. If this keeps up we will have to field Everton toddlers before end of the season... On a positive note. There were 3 microscopic things [Heitinga goal, Tim Howard keeping it 0 at the back, and Donovan's shot] which were totally overshadowed by atrocious football. And crucial question after the game is what would happen if 'Operation Goodison' was not a success? (see there was something funny after all...)

Whats the odds on meeting one of the teams were usually due to play this time of year! Ie:Spurs, Liverpool,Man Utd etc, if we dont draw one of them we will be set up against the last of the giant killers! We need a lot of luck this year what with the team playing like they dont know each other, would love another crack at Bolton if they get through the replay...

What's was with the booing from Tamworth "loyal" and ever so swollen supporters of our Captain Phil? Must have meant something to them but what?

Basically, Royston came on and made the difference! Even when you don’t know if he’s going to give an important ball away, create or score a goal. The guy just makes things happen! We need creativity and Royston is the closest thing we’ve got to even coming close to it! Why haven’t we signed him to a permanent deal yet? And don’t tell me it’s about the money! If we can afford to keep Fadders on the payroll then we’re not all that hard up! For once I’d like to see Moyesie make an assertive move at the start of the transfer window, if only just to put the Everton Squad more at ease. Even if we've got notyhing to buy we can at leat make Royston permanent...can't we???

tp - For all who wanted to see Billy in centre mid you now know why he hasn't been playing there, very poor, had a decent final 10 minutes once he realised he was not going be subbed. Gueye has got potential and could develop his partnership with Baines. Heitinga ok but no replacement for Jags, time for Neville to realise his time is up. What is Felliani all about, gave the ball away far to often and has no pace. All that really matters is the win and we are in the hat for next round and a home tie would be good.

Good to be in the hat, but we wouldn't want Swindon away in the next round. Lucky draws and a good run and we might make it to the last 8. Two or three new signings would be a boost!
