Peanuts Back
Peanuts Back

We can't ever get the team right and we didn't do any better today. Denis and Tim kept their places up front. So Jelly had to start from the bench.

Peanuts started on the left with Gibbo and Felli in the middle and Landon on the right.

Hibbo went to right back with Johnny and Sylvain in the middle with Bainsey on the left. Because of the surprising omission of Captain Neville, it was Tim Cahill who wore the arm band

Not much to talk about in the opening stages. It took Everton 10 minutes to get the first effort on target. Landon played a decent but to Denis but his shot didn't cause the Wigan goalie too much trouble.

Wigan had the great chance to take the lead when a long ball saw Di Santo take it round Sylvain. Tim Howard flew off the line to smoother his goal bound effort. Great save by Everton's goalie.

Steven Pienaar was playing some decent stuff and looked like he had never been away.

The footy being served up by both sides wasn't the best, in fact it was a shite first half if the truth be known. With the half coming to the end Everton had a great chance to go in one goal to the good.

It was great run by Bainsey down the left thta got him to the by-line. He pulled it back for the onrushing Darron Gibson. Go on son just like last week against City. Sorry but not this time. He hit it wide and handsome.

Half Time 0-0

Moyesy made a change at the break that we couldn't work out at first. Tim Cahill went off and Phil Neville came on. Tim was possibly injured. It meant that Felli went alongside Denis.

Like the first half the footy was awful. There wasn't much going on at all. Felli had a half a chance that he delayed and Gibbo had an effort from outside the box that was easily saved.

It was time to make a change and Moyesy after 60 minutes sent on Nikica Jelavic for his Everton debut replacing Denis.

Jelly immediately got involved when he dummied a Hibbo pass but was just cut out.

It was happening for us and a draw looked on the cards.

After 75 minutes Everton went behind to one of the most bizarre goals I have ever seen. Some Wigan fella on the left crossed the ball. It was deflected into Tim Howard's path and there didn't seem any danger whatsoever. But the ball either hit something or took a wicked spin and deceived the Everton goalie squirming through his arms. Unfuckingbelieveable. One nil down.

Everton woke up and started to pile forward. Jelly was fouled on the edge of the box but Bainsey couldn't make the goalie work at the free kick.

Big Vic was sent on with 10 minutes left to get something from the game and he duly obliged four minutes later. It was the third of three consecutive corners that did the damage.

Bainsey's corner was headed back to him. He had time to deliver a pinpoint near post cross on to Victor's noggin. It flew past Al Habsi into Wigan's net.

Both teams went for the winner, but in the end a draw was probably the right result. It was a strange performance from an Everton side that had beat a City side that is top of the league. Maybe it was the effort put in that game that saw a few jaded performances.

We have plenty to look forward to for the rest season. Jelly looks up for it and it was nice to see Peanuts back in an Everton shirt and he was close to the Blue Kipper Star Man but he was edged out by Bainsey who was back to his best

Full Time 1-1

haha I know I also like the fact he d play big lump of a centre forward BEHIND the front two, oh my days. I heard it was Evertons phsyio who handcuffed himself in protest of allowing saha to leave

What should have been an emphatic victory with far superior Everton players, turned out to be another fiasco because of Moyes's fuckin stupid tactics! He should have played 4-4-2 and gone for it. The match would have been over at half time, with the points in the bag! Instead we have to rely on Anichebe dragging us out of the mire! Moyes blaming the pitch. Embarassing!

Scrap 4-5-1. Only worked when Cahill was getting himself about in the box and scoring, which has'nt been for some time now. So its now time for a change, 4-4-2. A lone striker does not work for us anymore. Jelli and Dennis up front, and drop Cahill. We should start scoring more imho.

Christ its hard work being a blue! Talk about sapping all the positives away from midweek! The ONLY time bringing on Neville for Cahill would be acceptable would be defending a lead against top opposition. Not away to the leagues worst team at 0-0. So negative it's painful "deep sigh..."

it was the cahill for neville sub that undone us, bobble or no bobble. moving felli forward negated his influence and gave wigan space to play. and the least said about neville as a mid-fielder the better. ANY, and i do mean any, other manager would have brought on jelavic for cahill or at the very least drenthe, but moyes CAN'T bring himself to have a go against our 'relegation rivals'. the koppites were calling this a six-pointer and our illustrious manager gave them all the ammo they need to take the p@ss for the rest of the week. cheers moyes :-)

We seem to play much better when we are the underdog and need to stop the oppositions play. When we are the favourites and the opposition set up to frustrate us we struggle. I'm disappointed with two points dropped but not at all surprised. I totally agree with Paul, why is Cahill starting at the moment. I would definitely gone with two out and out strikers to try and finish Wigan early. I was surprised Moyes didn't give Drenthe a run in the last half hour as Donovan wasn't having his best game. We need to be much more positive!

Why Change a team that hasnt lost in 5 games? ... Distin was crap, Duffy earned his place over the last few games, Gueye was brilliant against City, Neville dropped and Hibbert was missing, Cahill gets the armband? Listen Moyesy, if you are going to change a winning team then at least go for an attacking option against a team that hasnt won at home for the last 8 games.. I hope Jelly gets a start soon and starts scoring because it seems the more options you have the worse we do....go back to the team we had against City and dont change it unless you have to... Victor with Strac up front or Jelly and Victor and drop Strac in behind them two... Or you can always try and not lose an then when we go 1-0 down you can throw on the big guns...

Paul (#1) you are on the money. Strange negative sub. Roy or Jelly would have made sense and been positive. Tim has been a great servant but is a bench player now and Phil prolonged his career with a useful contribution but is finished in the prem. Still the make up of the team looks more balanced with the new boys and I am at least hopeful about the last third of the season.COYB

Couldn't have put it better myself Paul from aigburth. How much longer is he going to continue to play his favourites no matter how crap theyve been ie nev cahill hibbo it's getting boring moyes and that substitution today defied logic. Talk about back down to earth with a bump

Agree with Paul there, Moyes cost us that game with disgraceful tactics yet again. Jelavic should have come on for Cahill, the most obvious substitution ever. In fact he should have started in place of him. Moyes goes on how 'we can t find the right formula, we've tried everything'. Well you haven t tried 442 have u Davey? Cahill and Neville are passengers now, use cahill as a sub with 20 mins to go and only ever play Neville if we have to through injuries. I know Victor scored but c'mon he is shit

Should have known this would happen after a good result against City and the optimism surrounding the deadline day signings that we would come crashing back down to earth at the first hurdle.Cahill hasnt had a decent game since 2010 and gets rewarded for being shite with the capains armband,so with Cahill somehow still starting games it means we start with only one forward against the bottom club who havent won at home in 9 games. Then Moyes after admitting the lack of goals, points and entertainment was down to him and saying he was going to change it makes as negative a subtitution as he could,Neville for Cahill (why not another striker).Like most games this season he only abandons his negative tactics till the end of the games when we're already 1 nil down.Cue all the Cahill lovers who think he deserves to be on the pitch out of loyalty for scoring against the shite years a go and believe covering every blade of grass without ever touching the ball means hes played well.
