David Moyes made six changes to the team that started against Swansea. Cisco Junior comes into the midfield with Felli. Bryan Oviedo comes in for his first start giving Bainesy a rest. Maggie is on the left and Nace is on the right. While Super Kev joins big Vic up top.

Well if we ever thought this was going to be an easy ride were dispelled after four minutes. It was Aidan White who gave Leeds the start they wanted. He seemed to stroll through the middle of the park with nobody making a challenge and found himself with a shooting chance just inside the box. It flew into the net with Jan Mucha no chance.

It took us a bit of time to get over the shock. The game was not going our way and the first half hour belonged to Leeds. It took us 29 minutes before we had an effort on goal. The chance fell to Victor from a cross from Ovi. But Vic couldn't keep his shot down and his effort blazed over the bar.

We had a serious let off with the last action of the half. Becchio's header was well saved by Jan but it still needed Nace off the line to keep the score just to 1-0.

It wasn't what we wanted from the first 45 minutes. We just weren't in the game and we needed to make a dramatic improvement to stay in the game.

Half Time: Leeds 1 Everton 0

David Moyes spat his dummy out at half time, Junior came off for Phil Neville and Peanuts came on for Maggie.

Everton started the second half with a bit more purpose. Peanuts went into the middle of the park with Kev on the left and Felli played further up alongside Victor.

The first real Everton chance fell to Steven Naismith and he fluffed it. It was a cross by Vic to the back post. Nace found himself completely clear but he headed well wide. He should have scored.

Victor nearly got us level with a quick turn and a shot but his effort crept passed the post.

Jela came on for Nace with 25 minutes to go.

With 20 minutes left we went two down. A free kick on the left was played short and Pugh hit a shot that hit a few on the way into the net.

We were desperate for anything to happen and Felli tried a long ranger that the goalie done well to save.

With ten minutes to go we got back into through Sylavain Distin. A free kick thrown in from Peanuts was flicked on by Vic for Sylvain to head into the top corner.

It was kitchen sink time. Jela had a header from a corner headed straight at the goalie.

We threw everything at them. We had what looked like a certain penalty waved away when Victor was hauled down in the box. It just didn't happen for us.

To be honest I'm absolutely gutted. This was a cup that we had a serious chance of winning and we have once again fucked it up. There were 5000 Evertonians that made the trip to Elland Road and once again we have been let down big time.

By the way Leeds were worthy winners and for what it's worth Sylvain Distin was my Blue Kipper Starman. There wasn't many to choose from.

Full Time: Leeds 2 Everton 1

F*&k me how fickle can some fans be?? All I heard pre-season was how good Junior looked and that he should be given a go in the 1st team this year. And to slag off Oviedo when he has never played with the team before, let alone never played in this country really pisses me off. It took the likes of Jagielka, Baines time to settle and they are English and had played premiership football so why jump on the bloke after one game? I'm sure Moyes and the scouts have watched him more than you and if he was really as bad as you make out, would they have signed him?? On a side note was i the only one who was positive with the starting line up before the game (Mucha excluded)? I didn't think it was that weak on paper at all? I know it's frustrating but reading the above you'd think we hadn't won a game all season and just got knocked out by a league 2 side.

NEVILLE needs dropping. He just gives the ball away constantly and makes poor lazy tackles. He's finished. Thanks for all your hard work Phil but I think it's time to blood the future now. You need to coach more.

Moyes couldn't give a flying one about us fans. Hence the team sheet last night. An absolute shambles but an all too familiar story in the cups with him. His record against lower league opposition is criminal.

Cannot understand why DM played a weakend side at the start. He should of played a stronger team from the beginning like the Orient game, and if w were winning ,change the team and give the kids a chance.Leeds are a physical team and playing Junior from the start was wrong and felt sorry for lad.

sack the board, hang BK from the pier head, move to a new stadium, sell the entire team. let the blue union pick and coach the team and run the club. thank god we dont knee-jerk eh? so we learnt what we already know, the second string is really not very good and for the remainder of the first string to deliver the need the ones who are missing..not splitting the atom are we? suppose we should blast and burn out before xmas. warnock always puts a tough to beat team out, more-so when he is the underdog, fair play to leeds, wanted it more and the better team. in the real world, DM wont have to rest them 6 at a time and slipping one or two cover players in works. its a squad game, get over it, 3 points on saturday should do it. as for the dicks shouting at the police..grow up, after 23 years of dignity...how proud you must be.

Our record in the league cup is nothing short of disgraceful, we should 'opt out' like we did in the early years of the competition, save us from the annual embarrassment !

I'm sorry for the fans that travelled but its a cup that should be scrapped. Its pointless unless you're in the final. The players play too many games, especially if you're in Europe and our squad isn't big enough to cope.

how annoying to just get turned over like that.we arent good enough to drop half the team and expect to get away with it.moyesy can be as frustrating as he can be brilliant at times.

Agree with all comments, sat watching in disbelief at the lack of effort and complete uselessness of some of the players. Seamus was crap, Oviedo looked lost, Junior and Maggie were duly subbed out, were do you start. Knew after 20 minutes this match was lost, you all know the feeling. I hope we don't suffer many injuries cause our bench showed they don't have much to offer based on last nights performance. Need a result next match.....COYB!!!

I can only echoe the sentiments below. Why so many changes? If the players are already in need of a rest then we are going to be screwed by next March! If Fellaini is not going to play in his best position why not give him a rest too? We should have our best team out EVERY game.

I agree that Mucha's probably not the best second choice keeper, but he wasn't the problem last night. Gueye was woeful, Naismith couldn't make a pass and Big Vic can't jump. What the fri8? They were caught sleeping early doors (far too casual), and panicked for the rest of the half, if not the rest of the game -the desperation really showed. Couldn't keep hold of the ball and tried to pass it too tight between players who weren't accurate enough by a long shot. I'm wondering if, with the squad we've got, we're not best out of cup competitions 'coz as soon as any one of our best 11 gets injured there appears to be a gaping chasm in the ability of their replacements. One of these days someone's gonna put Pienaar out for a few games, with the challenges that go in on him, and when it happens I can't see who'll adequately replace him.

Leeds, pissing down with rain all like drowned rats paying good money to watch that crap Moyes said it is a competion he wants to win for the fans, then why the fuck change a winning side, if he really wanted to win it he should have picked his strongest side and not betrayed 5000+ Evertonions who had paid hard earned money and gone to Leeds . No excuses this time Davey boy!!

An extremely poor performance, however these players have been brought in to play in the Premiership I have to say some of them are just not good enough and we need to replace them at our earliest opportunity. However, the age old problem exists at Everton lack of money! Until we have investment which will allow us to compete with the 'rich' we will be having these debates for years to come. I just hope we can sustain our present position in the top 4 of the premiership.

Poor decisions by moyes, i no im right when i say that this portuguese guy junior isn't really that good, and i didnt think much of bryan oviedo either, i no its only his 1st or 2nd game but both times i seen him he looked like he was a bit out of his depth, he doesnt really seem like he has the vision of an attacking footballer, some of his passing was negative and didnt really play the ball forward quick enough. maybe im super critical but if these players cant come in and do a job against leeds then they arent good enough. moyes made a mistake in fielding the team he did, the only time we got a grip of the game was when pienaar, neville and jelavic came on. and another bizare decision is why vellios is left out of the bench, in my opinion vellios is a cracking player, looks dangerous when he comes on, big, strong, good feet, gets in the right positions, looks dangerous, i no other clubs would snap him up straight away. Anichebe is a waste of space, always loses the ball, only good in the box. for me he is a good bench player.

It was bad enough losing the way we did, but the behaviour of the Happy Al's crew shamed us all. How much longer do we have to kid ourselves about those drugged up pissed up thugs? The lot of them should be banned before they drag our name down into the gutter with them. Blue Kipper should have the courage to denounce them for what they are.

Another f**king cup disaster. Will Moyes ever learn. Why make 6 changes from Saturday and put Coleman at full back. I can only imagine he got carried away with all the media hype over our so called good start to season. Calm down Davie and take a reality check this Everton not Barcelona, we have 13 or 14 good premiership players, the reset are very average and who the f*ck is Junior. Wasted opportunity!!!!

Once again Moyes looks to deflect the blame .. HE picked the wrong team and it seems its only him who doesnt think so, 1st 15 mins we all knew it was going to be a hard night why didnt HE change it quicker ? Leeds deserverdly won. On a good point i had Kopite friends make mention that they think the EFC fans have shown their class over the Hillsborough findings. Take another bow Evertons blue army.

Only one word for that: garbage. No, scratch that, make it: shit. Worst performance since all three derby matches last season. If they haven't got the guts to show up for the Southampton match as well then that will go a long way to saying what the season is going to be. A complete waste of my time and money last night. A shameful performance by players and manager.

If we showed the same drive as the rain last night,we might just have got the desired result, what we got was a gutless, heartless sorry excuse of a performance in Yorkshire. The game was more or less done and dusted after four painful minutes, followed by a further seventy six minutes of embarrassment,it truly was regurgitation of sorrowful very bad habits re-surfacing again,Shrewsbury,Port Vale and Oldham to name but a few.Lets make no mistake though credit were it's due,Leeds deserved it,they played with purpose, grit and did what a Neil Warnock side is expected to do,the ingredients on his tin never alter,so why oh why were we not up to the task! On last nights efforts,it was more dire than simple complacency,Leeds had to make whole sale changes as well and those who stepped up did the business,as for our lot,too many to mention were holed up in the "Missing Persons Bureau"-Cisco Junior got a reality check and if he wants to carve out a career at Everton he'll have to grasp the moment,as this just might of been his Everest. All of them have to hold they heads in shame as the so called dependable elder statesmen of the team offered no reassurance to the fringe players. Those 5000 who made the trek in awful conditions deserved so much more, travel and match tickets don't come cheap, their vociferous on going support fell on deaf ears huge time, and i don't want to hear the usual tripe response of"Glad there's a game coming up-to get this out of our System"that wont sell,Evertonians were enormously insulted last night, and David Moyes you and the team you selected are accountable,European nights and Wembley trips have once again been marginalized, and it's only coming up to October.

If fellaini does want to get a move to the likes of Madrid barca or chelsea he's not going to get it after tonight.he couldn't be arsed and he isnt good enough to play at 50% and look good even against an average Leeds side but he must think he is.not moyes fault it was the players the couldn't be bothered because it was only Leeds and that's why we got beat, because our team was alot better than there's they just wanted it more.

i have to agree with the comments above. all week we have had davey and the players saying how it was important we take this cup seriously as it's one of the only two trophies we can win and is a quick route into europe and what does he do ? puts out a weakened side like he did at anfield. when will he learn? and as for mucha the quicker we get rid of him the better. every time the ball goes near him my bottle goes.

That's it for me. No more cup matches. Moyes and the players haven't got the bottle or the nous for them and have proved it over ten years. Last night was a total fucking disgrace so they're not getting MY money any more. They were well beaten by a depleted side no better than League One or League fucking Two, no excuses. Absolute shite. Six weeks into the season and we're already out of 50% of the trophies we had a sniff of winning, come January and you can bet we'll go out of the FA Cup the same way. Moyes is about to become the most trophyless manager in Everton history and he'll fucking deserve it. As for players...Oviedo, Junior, Gueye and Naismith won't make prem players as long as they've got a hole in their arse, of the rest, six are over thirty years of age. Of the three league wins, two were gained against teams with ten men and who were crap anyway. Time to stop kidding ourselves. Rant over.

Oviedo looked poor, he couldnt find a blue shirt and overhit crosses all night. Junior looked like a boy against men and never got into the game. Magaye? did he play, did he pass it to a blue shirt once? did he throw a tackle in? Coleman didn't deliver one good cross and heitinga was outplayed and kidded by Diouf all night long. very poor performance and well played Leeds

Leeds would have had different mental model if they had been facing the same tam that beat Swanea. What wrong with getting into a winning position and then bringing players off. Also why take players to the match only to sit on the bench, doesn't seem like a rest to me. I will obviously never be a manager

Oh dear - it makes me really angry when results like this happen. I feel really sorry for the diehard Blues who crossed the Pennines on a dreadful night. Leeds had a raft of injuries and a load of kids playing. Everton disrespected them with the manager's choice of starting eleven. Victor was back to his inept best. Johnny and Sylvain do not work well together. Naismith had an absolute stinker. Is it me but why not start with the best 11 get some goals and then bring in the youngsters and squad players after that ? Not rocket science at all ! As for Mr Mucha - you can visibly see the defence have zilch confidence in him. This was one major cock up Davie Moyes.

Sadly RS Mark Lawrenson got it right on MOTD when he said that our first 11 was as good as any in the premiership, but our back ups were just not quite up to the mark. We really should have made a big effort for this cup. Injuries and suspensions may scupper our chance of European football over a long, hard season. But, onwards and upwards, we are Everton, we are used to dissapointment, we will bounce back, as ever.

That is why I couldn't care less about Cup competitions under Moyesey - always end in tears. Before the game jumped on 4/1 odds on Leeds to win. Only positive after the match. If I had to sum up a game in 5 words: utterly abject and gutless non-performance. And Mucha. WTF was reasoning behind singing him up. He hasn't got a clue how to defend and command 6 yard box. Ship him out now, don't wait for January. Everton as a Club should refund all expenses for traveling fans.

To be honest I dont care about the League cup. I'd rather that we stay injury free and finish higher up the table and get back to Europe that way maybe even the elite competition? Also I don't think MoyeS was resting players as much as trying out our youngsters to have look at them and give them a feel for real competition at which I think they all under performed. I thought Mirallas was the best player last night to be honest, the whole back line were dreadful at defending at times.

A typical example where a manager DID take the opposition lightly..........F***ing Pathetic Moyes, YOU underperformed tonght, ipaid to go watch you jumping up and down making excuses, th combination of changes and some players not performing to their 'A' game was why we went out..............BUT YOU picked the team and tactics, spitting ya dummy out.....yu better make ammends at the weekend

why hand the initiative to leeeds from the first whistle why not start our strongest fit 11 crush them then bring on ou rsecond string who by the way were not youngsters last night just inexperienced at that level. Someone was bulling up Junior the other week on this site he looked like a lost boy.. in saying that no leadership to help him, unfortunately that is all El Capitan can offer now he is so technically poor it is embarrassing .. but he does make a differenc. Johnny needs a bomb up his arse no urgency whatsoever (typically dutch) moysey has glossed over his own mistake by blaming the players he brought in. If we aspire to europe you cannot play 6 suad players in a big game and believe me every cup tie to us is a big game THEY ARE ONE OFFS HAS MOYSEY FORGOTTEN THAT and should be treated as such by everyone at the club so disappointed for all the loyal blues who travelled on a shit wet night up the equally shit M62. Credit to Leeeds they were the better team (by the way what a shit chant all night)

But, on the positive side, at least he's found out who can perform in the first eleven. The passing was atrocious last night and so was the movement off the ball, which improved immeasurably as soon as he made his changes. Leeds deserved to win the game, but we wasted more chances again and were denied a penalty for Victor being manhandled. So. hopefully we'll take a lesson and cruise on to win the Prem.

Who cares about the League cup we have never won it before and if we keep our league form up I for one feel we could finish in the top 4. The league cup is a distraction I'd much prefer to with the FA Cup and more to it Moyes is the best thing that has ever happened to the club why are you all not blaming the players for not stepping up??? Better we go out now than on pens in the semi's and have nothing in the tank for more inportant games later on in the season - Moyes = HERO end of!

Moyes has to hold his hands up there. Rotate when you've got enough strength in depth to do it. We've got genuine quality in our first choice squad but beyond that it's mediocre at best. Gueye, Junior, and even Naismith looked a million miles away from Premiership class. Anichebe may have had two from two before this but he's not up to it. Not clinical enough, no pace and poor touch = not good enough at that level!

We were up against a championship team who had seven first teamers out injured. This was not Moyesy's fault. Quite simply, Leeds wanted to win this game more than our players did. They were first into the challenges and they pressurised the ball whenever we had possession. Our players were simply not up for a rainy night battle in Yorkshire. I wish that our players demonstrated the passion of our incredible support. 5000 supporters on a wet late night kick off in a league cup match. Amazing support! Let's put this night behind us and get on with winning against Southampton.

Sorry Davie but you f***ed up big time with that team selection tonight. Did you learn nothing from the Anfield derby last season? One of only two trophies that we have a realistic chance of winning and you decide to put out a weakened team. Why on earth do any of our players need to be rested in September? Is it for all of our games coming up in Europe? A quarter of the crowd tonight were travelling Everton fans and they have been shamefully let down.

Moyesie had better come forward and hold his hands up, that was his fault tonight !!. Why cant his players be able to play two matches in a week ? , they are paid enough to be able to !. I dont normaly give Moyesie any stick, but he needs to be honest and say that he got us knocked out of a cup that can give us a route into Europe. Leeds are not Leighton Orient !! and Our reserves have won one match this season. Every time I see Jan Mucha in the line up it makes me not want to F**kin watch "He Is a BIG BAG OF SHITE" and we should have got shut of him ages ago. NOT GOOD ENOUGH by a F**king mile.
