Everton's most successful captain looks back at the FA Cup derby of 1981. Kevin Ratcliffe was making his derby debut in this game. Everton were right into them, with Hartford, McMahon and Ross running the midfield. Peter Eastoe opening the scoring after 17 minutes and Imre Varadi scored to make it 2-0 after great work from Eammon O'Keefe. Case got a consolation near the end, but the game was already won.
The Rat says: "It's a once off thing and you'd like them to go on longer than they do. You don't get a chance to meet them again in that competition, that's always a big spur. After Imre scored he turned away and celebrated in front of the Liverpool fans. Then somebody chucked a pork pie at him and it hit him on the top of the head...quite funny when you look back."
