Your message from Ray Jones really interests me. He saw Tommy Lawton in 1939, so he was born only 7 years after me. My first match was against Aston Villa in 1933, I think it was. Dixie scored 2 and the Blues won 4- 2. A few weeks earlier my Dad took my brother to see The Blues play Sheffield Wednesday at Goodison. The score 9-3. Dixie scored five.
After results like that, how could anybody support any other Merseyside team.

* Editors Note: We have trawled through the stats from that era, and we believe the game Tim is referring to was in the 1931-32 season. We had a 3-2 home win against Aston Villa which was Tim's first match. The week earlier we did indeed beat Sheffield Wednesday 9-3, with Sir Dixie bagging just the five.
