Manager Jim Jefferies knows all about David Weir. He gave him his first chance at Falkirk twenty years ago and has known him ever since. Jim thinks that Davey will go on to be a great coach.
Scotland's 6th most capped player is currently one of the back room boys at Finch Farm. Jefferies reckons Davey is the best he has ever worked with and is tipping him to go on to achieve great things in coaching and management.
Big Jim said: 'When you've been a manager as long as I have you always get asked who your best was.'
'Well taking it all into account, and I've had a lot of great players, I always look to Davie Weir.'
'From being a late developer he went on to being the best at what he did. Always great to work with, 100% behind you, and totally consistent - you couldn't ask for anything more as a manager.'
'Whatever dressing room he's been in, he's always been very popular. It takes a lot to upset Davie, he is a quality guy.'
'I can certainly see him being a successful coach and I bet he'd love to work with Steven Naismith again. I know when I spoke to Davie he thinks highly of Steven and that will be a big pull.'
'Working with men like big Davie would benefit any player, young or old. He's a perfect example.'
Let's hope that Big Jim is right and that Davey Weir influences Naismith to sign for Everton.
