On this day in 1902 Everton played Glasgow Rangers in a competion called the British League Cup.
Everton agreed to play in the competition to help raise funds following the disaster at Ibrox on 5th April 1902 where during the Scotland v England match 26 fans were killed and over 500 injured.
The game finished 1-1 with Alex 'Sandy' Young scoring Everton's goal.
