Tim Cahill's Major League Soccer debut ended in defeat yesterday with New York Red Bulls losing 2-0 away at Houston Dynamo.

Jermaine Taylor gave the home side a second-minute lead before Calen Carr doubled the advantage in the 28th minute as Houston moved two points clear of Red Bulls at the top of the Eastern Conference.

Timmy was named in New York's starting line-up for the first time in league competition following his recent transfer. He also featured in the Red Bulls' 2-1 friendly defeat to Spurs in midweek.
