Just like when you are waiting for a bus, you wait for ages then two come at once. There is more good news today for Evertonians following the Landon Donovan deal yesterday.
Young Ross Barkley has ignored interest from the likes of Chelski and Manure to sign a new four-and-a-half year deal at Goodison.
Ross made his first-team debut in our opening game of the season against QPR. He turned 18 at the start of December and that made him eligible to sign a lengthy deal to stay at Goodison.
This allays all fears that young Ross would be sold to help Everton ease the debt. Many believed the £25m rated youngster would be sold in January to ease our cash problems in the short term but not so.
Blue Bill said: 'We are pleased, but obviously not at all surprised, that Ross has agreed his first long-term contract with the club.'
'Ross has recently talked of his commitment to Everton and his growth under the very special guidance of David Moyes, his staff and indeed our senior players. That combination of expertise can only be of benefit to any young footballer.'
Great news for all Toffees and two fingers to the rest.
