Everton Injury List Getting Smaller

More Jack Rodwell
With Sylan Distin back in the first team against Wigan, Everton now have Jack Rodwell and Seamus Coleman back in training.
With Ross Barkley and Victor Anichebe on the bench at Wigan, this leaves only Jags and Ossie on the long term injury list.
Rodwell should be available for selection, but may have to wait for to return to the team, as David Moyes has a few options now with the return of Steven Pienaar.
Would you bring Jack Rowell back into the Everton team?

We have a few option is midfield now so is it maybe time to play Rodwell as a centre half for the rest of the season as that is his natural position? and it will give us options if we suffer injuries to Distin and Jags

we always heard how Rodwell was a natural centre back. At first I disagreed, but he has matured now so lets throw him in at Centre Back while Jagielka is injured. Drop Distin altogether - he is terrible, looks good making his last ditch tackles which are nearly always a result of his poor decision making or mistakes.

For me, if he's fit he plays! Gets bashed by alot of Evertonians regulary but considering injuries his development has been there for all to see, converting from a centre half to a holding and now box to box midfielder! His performances for England suggest he can be that somebody who takes the game by scruff of neck and drives a team on, if, and a big if, Moyes lets him of the leash! Felli needs to stay in middle no matter what. We lose so much hold of the middle when he pushes up. Gibbo hasnt done alot but does a steady job so maybe he will be used more rotational? Really hope we give Drenthe a run also. Get him used to us and the requirements. If he makes mistakes let him learn and try to rectify them! Theres a world class player in there somewhere!!!

A midfield three of Rodwell-Fellaini-Gibson sounds great. Add in Donovan/Coleman on the right and Pienaar/Drenthe on the left and who knows what could happen?

If fit, Rodwell should be an automatic selection, he's good enough to be future England captain. Let's have 3 in midfield with Felllaini, Gibson and Rodwell. That is as good a midfield as anyone's.

Mark,When everybody is fit I can't see Osman starting. He is very slow and easily knocked off the ball. There are far better players in the squad than him, best he can hope for is the bench.Cahill has been brilliant for us but time is catching up with him.Impact sub for the last 20/30 minutes might suit him.Plenty of pace in the side,at last.

I think Rodwell should wait a while, because as much as I think he is better than Gibson, Gibson offers something different. In the games that Darron has been playing Felly has actually got more of a free run of midfield because Gibson is willing to just sit in and mop up the ball. Even though the fixtures have been hard and we have mostly got draws, we are undefeated in 4 with this new system.

Would have to say yes, but we have to watch what we do with him, Fellini has to stay put in front of the back four, the Wigan game proved that we lost momentum when he moved up front and we need Landon ( might as well use him not got him for long ) and Pienaar out wide given us width but with him liking to come in off the wing it could get quite conjested in the middle when he's looking for the ball, but having said that it's really good problem we are starting to get now there all coming back from injury the team ( and manager ) have been taking a lot of stick of late but the injury list has been crippling us, i know some people are going to say that we are a big club we should have more players blah blah blah but i'm sorry money talks and we don't have any we do now have a good side and we should be looking up instead of down i'm tipping we get a top 8 finish !!!!!! i'm sure i will get a response from the doom mongers

Cahill true blue.. but if he is injured as suggested, time to give him a little breather and really go with a creative midfield.. Pienaar - Drenthe - Gibson - Donovan
with Fellaini sitting behind them..
OR drop Gibson and play two strikers up front!

You're having a laugh. Rodwell has only played well against Man City and had a good 20 minutes against Liverpool in over 100 first team games. Jack almost never hits a forward ball, barely makes a tackle, stands 10 yards of his man and hides when team mates are in possession. Everton are guaranteed to concede when Jacks in the team just look at the stats. I think Gibson has shown more in 5 games than Rodwell has so far and Cahill still has a top class engine on him (he was still running down Man City defenders in the 92nd minute), I'd play these two way ahead of the JackI'd also go with Osman and Coleman and Iprefer both Gueye and Drenthe before Rodwell. I think he needs be farmed out on loan to the lower divisions to learn his profession.

Are these comments about JACK Rodwell or have we signed someone else called Rodwell ? Plays like a crab, always sideways, or maybe that's Mr.Moyes doing ? Wasn't the same guy who played for England was it ?

If Rodwell comes straight into the team, he can't play with Gibson. They are too similar players so for me i'd carry on with Gibson. Think about dropping Cahill, love him an' that but there are other players who could give a lot more.
Alex, Liverpool, 5:48 PM 7/02/2012

Whether he gets back in straight away or not, Fellaini needs to stay where he is. By pushing him up top, we lose one of best ball winning midfielders about and someone to steady the ship when defending.
I would have Rodwell playing along Gibson just in front of Fellaini.
Jelavic up top, Pienaar on left and Coleman when fit on right.

Without a doubt he would be straight back in for Cahill and given the freedom Capello gave him for England. I am not a Cahill basher and I know he has a good record against Chelsea but it's time to rest him and give Rodders a run I think he and Gibson could be quite interchangeable and give us a bit more fluidity to our play.

Rodwell has got to be in the team . He has been one of are best players this season until injury
Howard.
Hibbert, Heitinga, Jagielka, Baines,
Fellaini,
Donovan, Rodwell, Osman, Pienaar,
Jelavic
subs,
Hahnemann, Distin, Drenthe, Cahill, Barkley, Anchibe, Coleman
Thats the best team i think we can put out. We haven't got that creative player in the middle of the park to play 442 and until we do we will be stuck playin 451 and i think Osman will make us tick more in the middle than Cahill.
Mark, Liverpool, 1:51 PM 7/02/2012

i think he will have a struggle to get back in before Felli and Gibson. with felli getting back too his best and Gibbo getting the shots off just outside the box, which we havent had for ages, the only one to give way could be Cahill. Or push Felli up just behind the striker and put Rodders in Felli's place and drop Cahill to the bench.

I would definitely have Rodwell back inthe squad, ahead of Neville and Cahill. I would also have Barkley in there to give us something different
