Jags May Have To Bide His Time

Phil Jagielka is not only hoping to play against the redshite. He needs to get to a final and be fit for it. Jags was our hero in the last Wembley semi we had against United but wasn't able to play in the final because of his bad knee injury.

He will be vying for a place in the starting line up with Johnny and Sylvain. But he knows he may have to bide his time.

Who would you have at the back?

Jags said: "The memories that I have of playing in the semi-finals last time are up there with the best of my career. So it's nice to go back and it would be nice to play as big a part as I did last time. But I understand at the moment the boys have been doing really well, so I might have to bide my time and see how it goes.

"If my role at the moment is to give Johnny and Sylvain a rest for a game, it's not ideal for me, but we're all part of a squad which wants to do well and we all want to win a trophy. So whatever the manager sees fit, as long as the end result is what we want, we'll all be giving each other high fives and it will be irrelevant.

"I feel a little bit like I'm owed a final. I've played in four semi-finals and I got through one but wasn't able to play in the final. I'm still lucky enough to have played those big occasions and they're fantastic enough on their own. But it would be nice to get through to a final and play in one. It would be even nicer obviously to win one."

Spanner, you say get rid of Moyes, Who is going to replace him? The fact that everyone in football says that DM is one of the best in the business go to show how good he is, so say we do get rid who are you going to get? Stop with the anti-Moyes stuff its fucking boring now

We are on better form than the Red shite & they have 3rd choice keeper in, we will beat them & get Kenny D sacked

Everyone going on about Jags being dogy etc........Did anyone see Distin at Anfield! Horse shit at best!! I'd play Heitinga and Jags every time! When Jags is playing well which he did against Sunderland, the ball is like a magnet to him in our box! Oh and Neville is nailed on at RB!

Johnny H and Distin for me. i am sure Jags will earn his place back but for now he has to bench it. Also seen a few comments saying Jags right back didn't he get played there when we first signed him for a short period and he was terrible and his last England game I am sure he played right back and looked out of place.

Stevo bit of respect for Jags he is a true blue and works his socks off for the club? JH has earned his place as has everyone who started away at Sunderland. Hibbo has played well but Nev must get the nod as he keeps wingers quiet eg bale, mcclean and his influence on the pitch is important. If Webb is even handed and sees through their antics we will do them on Saturday and finish above them in the league. COYB

Nice comments from jags, cant picture Johnny coming out with something of a similar squad centered mind set.

Same team as beat Sunderland, and absolute certainty. Hibbo is nailed on for the right back slot, Jags and Pip will be on the bench. When Jags is fully fit he is a great stopper, even though his distribution needs work, dont forget his game against Torres when he was on fire at Liverpool, Jags marked him out of the game as Moyes said at the time "it looked as though Torres had given up the will to live' such was the dominance of the player. Onwards and up for the cup

We should play with the same back four that have been outstanding for weeks. Distin and Heitinga as centre backs. Jags is a brilliant player but too dodgy and wouldn't be worth the risk, especially since it's the redshite in the semi final. Last thing we need is for him to slip up and give them a chance.

Unfortunate for Jags, he needs more match practise to be ready for this game. Hopefully there are more important games to come and we may need him.

Good shout for Jags at right back. Can't see Moysie going for it for the semi but as a long term solution it could work. Jags has got a great turn of speed.

Same starting 11 that beat Sunderland in the quarters. The referee can make or break these games, so lets hope it's a decent one, who recognizes the diving cheats that the red shite are! COYB 3-0.

Jags is a centre half or nothing, seen him at right back & defensive midfield & he doesn't look up to the mark. Re-the future right back, I think Coleman should be given a run of games to see what he can do. Difficult choices to be made on Saturday, but for me Hibbo & Jags should start on the bench.

How bout Jags at right back?? Stronger than Phil and Hibbo, not sure about the speed but wouldn't be a bad back line. Jags, Johnnie, Distin, Baines.

What a dilemma, a nice dilemma but with all the central defenders we have playing so well - how do you leave the one out ? I love Jags but this is where David Moyes will have a tough decision. COYB.

Sylvain and Johnny have been absolute rocks for us this season when others had lost their form. We have to reward them for that. Those two can deal with any of the RS forwards easily. Jags does seem to be coming along back to form nicely tho, at the right time too.

Johnny and Distin all day long for me. Jags has come up against the shite twice this season and on both occasions was made to look like an amateur.
