We Need To Bounce Back

Everton need to bounce back according to the skipper Phil Neville. I don't know if going to Old Trafford is the ideal place to go to if we need to bounce back. You really couldn't pick a better place to go and get a result.

With Man Utd going for the title you couldn't get a tougher test. But the fans as usual will be there in the thousands to cheer our wounded players on next Sunday.

Phil said: "We've got to lick our wounds and bounce back. We're in seventh position and if back in October someone had said we'd be in seventh position above Liverpool I think we'd have snapped their hands off. So I think we've really got to kick on now."

Phil, you and the players try bouncing your skull off the wall instead. That way you might forget all the negative tactics drilled into you over the years and go out to win a game for once.

A few weeks ago Phil Neville said if he didn't win a trophy at Everton he would consider his time with us a failure. Well..................?

No Neil, it has nothing to do with finances, Everton lost the semi because Moyes decided to defend a 1-0 lead, don't you remember the 2009 FA Cup Final. Everton will NEVER win anything with Moyes, he is a big game bottler!

The players bottled it big time, no other excuse and Phil as captain should bear a hell of a responsibility in allowing heads to drop.

Yes you should stay away, maybe if winning is the only thing that makes you support a club? My father in law followed Runcorn Town, all over the country, mid week, weekends no matter. He never expected them to win trophies, but he supported them, and believe me if you think we have problems it is nothing compared to what happens in the lower leagues. Just because you are a loyal fan doesn't give you a right to expect us to win trophies, WAKE UP and smell the roses, there are 4 or 5 clubs who have the financial ability to compete for trophies, EFC are NOT one of these. Loyal fans follow the club no matter what. So make a decsion Maltida, waltz over the park to Analfield will you and take your blue union friends with you.

This particular FA Cup defeat is not all about money. Had we won, the players and manager etc would be heroes. LFC have spent shed loads of money, and are only on a par with us. Moyes has worked well with the money he's been given, however the defeat boils down to Moyes' tactical naivity, particularly in big games. We always play the same way on a big occasion....try to nick a goal then defend. If we go a goal down, the mindset changes to 'don't get hammered'. This method never has, and never will work!!! How many times have we been beaten by the 'big' teams, having gone into the game actually thinking we can win?!

We have lost 3 times to the shite this season & they'll probably end up with 2 cups. It does not matter if we finish 10 points ahead of them. We have no chance of Europe and our season ended on Satuarday. Lets hope next season we can erase the bad taste of this season. We need to start well for once!

Who's seriously arsed whether we finish above them lot? Devastated isn't the word, 1-0 up an thoroughly cocked it up! I think this one hurts more because we actually had a great chance of winning it but again the negativity strikes! I'm not one to call for moyes head but really, what is next? Disheartened, heart broken, gutted, something needs to change

Neil, from Wirral, has summed it up perfectly. It's all about money now, and big big money at that. So let's all be realistic about things. While no budgetary caps are in existence, nothing is going to change. The open competitive aspect of the game has been destroyed by the money men.

Phil's comments say it all, really We were well beaten by the worst Liverpool side for 40 years It is time for a clearout of an ageing squad; perhaps, in the remaining five games, it would be worthwhile giving Barkley, Duffy etc a chance It might also be worth starting with Denis and Drenthe to see if they are worth keeping Drenthe let everyone down by his behaviour last week; the problem is that he has given us a glimpse of real quality, a factor that we so lack. One more chance?

You know our team yesterday including the subs that came on cost about just under 40 million and if Felli weren't playing it would have been under 25 million. How can we compete??????

I know he means well, but the rallying cry of - " come on lads, one last push and we can finish 7th !" sounds a bit hollow to me ! Even if we do go to Man U and try to win, rather than the usual 10 men behind the ball bollocks that we usually get, its too little too late.

Bitterly disappointed with yesterdays result and my heart was in my mouth until 2-1 when I just knew we would not get an equaliser or a winning goal but I also remember when towards the end of the season for many years we were hanging on to premiership status by a whisker. So prefer where we are now than then. However, until we have a Man City type owner we are the "BEST" of the rest. COYB

Why are so many fans so deluded about the current state of English football. I like this forum because of the informed and sensible post by Mickey Blue Eyes et al, yes we have nothing for 10 years, so have approx 80 other league teams, Portsmouth was a blip on the radar for the major financial teams of the PL, we are not on the same planet when it comes to level of players. You pay for what you get, yes they were poor, yes as a team they are poor, but they have [paid millions more than our collective squad, there is a reason for this, there players will find a way to deliver, as will the millionares of Utd, City, Chelsea, Spurs. Arsenal have stopped winning because they have stopped signing top players, those top players will win games against lesser teams even when they don't deserve to. I am not defending the tactics, I am a Moyes fan, somewhere yesterday it went wrong for us, perhaps more mentally than physically. Without Moyes we wouldn't have Distin, Jelly, Felli, Jags, Johny, Baines, Cahill, Gibbo. We haven't won anything because we haven't/cant spend enough. Time for fans to face reality................we are millionares not billionares!!!

Why do we always hear such comments so many times from our players? If they did the job in the first place there would be no need to "bounce back" from anything! I am really starting to worry that when push comes to shove, our club cannot do it. I fear we are going to be known as a team that bottles the big games. Whenever we are in good form and people start to back us there follows a terrible result! We are a decent side but show too much respect (particularly towards Liverpool) to the so called big sides. We are a big side and it is about time we had the nerve to take on these teams. The most upsetting thing about the semi-final loss was not that we lost but that we lost to a side who I believe are inferior to us. It was there for the taking but once again the players and management froze when it mattered. Very dissapointing.

The fact that players, including Phils comment above, and d manager class finishing above L'pool as a sucessful season says it all. The shite are an average team at best and our success as a club, according to Moyes and our captain is finishing above them. Give me a bucket!! No wonder we lose to an average team all the time... This club needs more positivity and belief and i don't mean the fans......

I like and respect neville, but isnt that the problem?? I know he means October but what is realistic ambtion at the start of the season 5th?? I think thats why most of the fans aren't turning up, fed up with just playing to be the best of the rest, we've been doing that for the last 7 years. We've got an aging core of players over 30, which will need replacing, more wheeler dealing for moyes again..

Little comfort if you ask me skipper, who really gives a toss now if we finish above the shite or not?? I I know I don't!!
